Enhancing Financial Literacy at St. Louis 1 Senior High: Universitas Ciputra Financial Club's Commitment to Student Investment Education

In this growing era, an individual's investment skills are not only used in the scope of work, but also include long-term opportunities. Investment is one of the important instruments currently used as a financial strategy. Fraudulent investments have sprung up with various motives that make people afraid to invest. Now investment is gaining popularity among Generation Z, therefore the ability to invest must be developed and trained. This community service was held to improve investment skills by using fundamental analysis for St. Mary's High School students. The program was held on March 20, 27, 2024 and April 3, 2024. Several games and training seminars for St. Louis 1 related to "critical thinking". The purpose of this workshop is to provide a deep understanding of fundamental analysis, which will certainly have a very good impact on students in investing. This activity was organized by implementing a live analysis system prepared and delivered by two of the best speakers from Ciputra University. In fact, the session delivered by the two speakers received a positive response from the students who attended this event.

SOCRATIC METHOD OF TUTORING: AN INNOVATION FOR BETTER STUDENTS’ NUMERACY SKILLS

This action research sought to determine the students numeracy skills before and after using the Socratic Method of Tutoring (SMT). This exploration also measured the effect of SMT on the students mathematical operations of numbers. Additionally, the study investigated the challenges encountered by the peer tutors in handling their peers numeracy skills and their coping mechanisms in addressing the problems they experienced. The study used sequential explanatory research. The research participants consisted of thirty (30) students from the ABM strand and eighteen (18) peer tutors from the STEM strand of Zamboanga del Sur National High School – Senior High during the school year 2022-2023. The students obtained below-normal scores before the utilization of SMT, but the performance of the students in numeracy tests significantly improved after the intervention. The drastic shift in students numeracy skills proved the effectiveness of the Socratic Method of Tutoring to the students. The Peer tutors experienced four (4) major problems or challenges: (1) the peers lack of mathematical fundamentals, (2) the distracted peers focus, (3) insufficient knowledge as tutors, and (4) management of time constraints as tutors. Further, the peer tutors articulated their four (4) coping mechanisms: (1) reviewing and reteaching the competencies to their Peers, (2) being patient towards their Peers, (3) self-preparation of the topic as tutors, and (4) proper time management as tutors. The findings of this research support the conduct of a learning program to capacitate the students in their numeracy skills and enhance the pedagogical skills of the Peer Tutors of the school. GLAM Wikiprojects as a Form of Organization of Cooperation Between Wikipedia and Cultural Institutions

The development of new communication technologies enabled the digitalization of the knowledge resources of cultural institutions all over the world and made them available to a wider audience. This was possible through the cooperation of cultural institutions with Wikipedia’s WikiProjects and engagement of the users from numerous countries. It seems important to recognize if this form of cooperation between Wikipedians and institutions is effective and attracts enough participants. The article takes up the subject of the character and effects of this cooperation. The aim of the paper is to study the activity of Wikipedians, including newcomers, in GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) WikiProjects in several language versions of Wikipedia as an open knowledge project. The research questions concerned the characteristics of the activity of Wikipedians in GLAM WikiProjects and the differences between the behaviour of Wikipedians in GLAM WikiProjects in different language versions. The method used in the research is the content analysis, which includes quantitative tools. The author acquired and calculated the data on the activity of GLAM Wikiprojects participants thanks to the Wikipedia xTools tool. The calculations were made on participants of GLAM WikiProjects from five language versions of Wikipedia. The main conclusion from the research is that the results of this kind of organization of work, especially in terms of newcomers, are not satisfactory. The most effective participants are the coordinators of the projects or/and the Wikipedians with the highest seniority. Newly acquired participants most often do not continue their activity for long time. However, there are some differences in different language versions of Wikipedia. English one has better results in retaining and engaging new users. What is interesting is that despite the wide popularization and engagement of the GLAM institutions in the collaboration with Wikipedia, there is a relatively low interest of new Wikipedians in GLAM Wikiprojects. In order to reach a successful cooperation, it is significant to improve the effectiveness of welcoming, engaging, and retaining newcomers in the projects. The results may be of use to the practitioners of the virtual communities of practice which focus on creating and sharing knowledge.

DETERMINANT FACTORS OF DENTAL AND ORAL SELF-CARE FOR ADOLESCENTS IN THE COASTAL AREA OF CILACAP CITY

Background: The prevalence of oral health problems in Indonesia is 25.9%. The incidence of oral and dental diseases in Central Java in 2019 was recorded at 126,225 cases and 39,759 of them occurred in Cilacap District. Based on data taken from the Kampung Laut Community Health Center, there were a total of 164 confirmed cases of oral health in 2022, dental and oral diseases that are often found in the community include caries and periodontal disease. Oral health care efforts are the main preventive measures to prevent oral disorders in order to avoid oral diseases, which can be carried out by each individual through self-care, such as brushing teeth, using dental floss, and using mouthwash. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between factors of knowledge, behavior, attitude, age, gender, parents' occupation, social history, and history of toothache with oral self-care in adolescents at Kampung Laut 1 Senior High School.Method: This type of observational analytic study uses a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study were 82 students. Data collection was carried out by providing questionnaires which were filled out independently by students.Result: The results of the analysis of the relationship between factors of knowledge (p = 0.037), behavior (p = 0.018), attitude (p = 0.046), age (p = 0.037), gender (p = 0.025), parents' occupation (p = 0.049), social history (p = 0.037) and history of toothache (p = 0.018) on dental and oral self-care in adolescents where the p value of each variable is <0.05 which means it is significant.Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge, behavior, attitudes, age, gender, parents' occupation, social history and history of toothache on dental and oral self-care in adolescents.

The demographic factors’ contribution to the High School Student’s level of psychological distress in Malang, East Java

Demographic factors contribute to the etiology of psychological distress in adolescents, especially as a mark in identifying the vulnerability of these adolescents to high levels of psychological distress. This study aimed to identify the effects of demographic factors, including age, gender, school origin, and parents' marital status, on the level of psychological distress in adolescents who are studying in high schools in Malang, East Java. This cross-sectional study used the Hopkins Symptoms Checklist 25 (HSCL-25) measuring instrument to measure the level of psychological distress in adolescents and data filling on age, gender, school origin (Public Senior High School/Vocational Senior High School/Islamic Senior High School), and parents' marital status (married, divorced, widow/widower). Eight schools in Malang City were randomly selected to participate in this study. 520 students from eight high schools participated in filling out the questionnaire. The crosstab analysis reports that 53.1% of subjects showed high psychological distress. Based on the results of logistic regression analysis, the gender (OR = 0.55, p = 0.002) and school origin (OR = 0.74, p = 0.027) factors contributed to the level of psychological distress in adolescents who were studying in high schools. Based on the steadiest contribution from the gender factor, female students were 0.55 times more prone to experiencing high psychological distress than males. Thus, developing promotion and prevention programs in high schools regarding mental health and gender-related issues is crucial.

Development of Discovery Learning Based Modules in Ecosystem Material for Class X Senior High School/Madrasah Aliyah Students

This study aims to develop Discovery Learning Based Modules and to determine the level of feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of the developed modules. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) research method with the ADDIE model consisting of five stages, namely (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were class X MIPA at SMA Negeri 4 Binjai with a total of 25 students. The research instruments were teacher needs analysis, validation sheets to obtain product feasibility data, educator response questionnaires and student questionnaires to obtain product practicality data and learning achievement tests to obtain data on the effectiveness of the products being developed. Based on the results of the study in terms of feasibility, material experts scored 94.28% in the "Very Eligible" category, media experts scored 92.94% in the "Very Eligible" category. Meanwhile, in terms of practicality, from the results of the Biology Teacher's responses, an average proportion of 94.66% was included "Very Practical". In the results of the assessment of students have an average proportion of 89.11% with the criteria "Very Interesting". And in terms of effectiveness, the pretest results averaged 53.6 while the posttest results averaged 80.4. So that the N-gain value is 0.53 with a range of 0.30˂ n ˂ 0.70 for the "Medium" mixture. So it was concluded, the Discovery Learning based module that had been developed was stated to be feasible, effective, and practical to use, and could increase activeness in solving problems

Profile of Students’ Conceptual Understanding of Physics in Senior High School

This research aimed to identify the profile of physical concept mastery of Senior High School/Aliyah School students in Semarang as a result of the transition from offline to online learning. The research employed the descriptive quantitative approach in which the tests and questionnaires were used to collect data. The school type (Senior High School/Aliyah School), school ownership (Private/State), and student’s interest in learning are all considered in the profile analysis. This study was carried out in Semarang, Indonesia, with a sample of 250 students from MAN 2 Semarang, SMA Negeri 1 Semarang, and SMA Negeri 9 Semarang. The findings revealed: 1) The percentage of students with concept mastery scores with the highest answer being questioned was 12 (88.2%). The results showed: 1) The percentage of students with concept mastery scores that really the highest answer lies in question 12 with a percentage of 88.2% on fluid material (Bernoulli’s Law) with a cognitive level of C2. While the percentage value of the student’s mastery of concepts which is the lowest, lies in questions number 3 (Uniform Speed and Uniform Acceleration subject matter) and 4 (moment of inertia/center of gravity and rigid body balance subject matter) with a percentage of 57% each with successive levels of cognition, C3 and C4, 2) Following tutoring is not effective because it does not affect physical learning achievement, and 3) there is a positive (unidirectional) significant (mean) relationship between independence and learning motivation on physical learning achievement. The results of this study can be used as a reference for researchers, educational policymakers, and stakeholders related to the handling of post-pandemic education.

Indonesian community knowledge, attitude and behavior towards COVID-19 vaccination

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, including Indonesia, so it is designated as a pandemic. To prevent the wider spread of COVID-19 transmission, the Indonesian government has implemented a COVID-19 vaccination program. The community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards COVID-19 vaccination are needed to support the success of this program. Therefore, this research aims to determine the Indonesian community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards COVID-19 vaccination. Methods: This research was conducted by non-experimental observation with a cross sectional approach. Sampling using accidental sampling technique with the duration of the distribution of the e-questionnaire for 30 days. The sample of this research is the Indonesian community. The data were processed using descriptive statistical tests. Results: The results of the univariate analysis with a total of 662 respondents showed that the majority of respondents were female, aged 18 to 25 years, educated in Senior High School/Equivalent, Muslim, domiciled in Riau, student, and received information from social media and other online media. The majority of respondents have a good level of knowledge with a score of 80.1%, have a positive attitude and behavior with a score of 53.5% and 51.8%. Conclusion: The Indonesian community have a good level of knowledge, as well as positive attitudes and behaviors towards COVID-19 vaccination.

Medical Dispute Cases Caused by Errors in Clinical Reasoning: An Investigation and Analysis.

Studies that examine medical dispute cases (MDC) due to clinical reasoning (CR) are scarce in Taiwan. A retrospective analysis was undertaken to review MDC filed at four hospitals in Taiwan between 2011 and 2015. Cases were examined for the healthcare professionals involved, their relevance to CR errors, clinical specialties, and seniority. Seventy-eight MDC were identified and 57.7% of which were determined to be related to CR errors (n = 45). Among the 45 cases associated with CR errors, 82.2% (37) and 22.2% (10) were knowledge- and skill-related errors, respectively. The healthcare professionals with the most MDC were obstetrician-gynecologists (10/90, 11.1%), surgeons (8/90, 8.9%), and emergency physicians (7/90, 7.8%). The seniority of less than 5 years or lower had the highest number of attending physicians to be associated with MDC. In contrast, the highest seniority (>25 years) in the physician group and year 6 in the resident group are both shown with zero MDC. In our study, the larger hospitals had a significantly higher incidence of MDC compared to the smaller hospitals (Pearson Correlation Coefficient = 0.984, p = 0.016). An examination of MDC reveals the frequency and nature of medical errors in Taiwanese hospitals. Having identified that CR errors contributed a substantial fraction to the overall MDC, strategies to promote reasoning skills and hence reduce medico-legal issues help safeguard both patients and healthcare professionals.

A Case Study of Discourse-Oriented Analysis of English Reading Comprehension Test in Senior High

Reading comprehension is an important way for foreign language learners to improve their language competence, while discourse analysis is an important factor that affects reading comprehension. Previous studies have mainly focused on reading teaching guided by discourse analysis theory, and discourse-oriented analysis of English reading comprehension test is rarely involved, which is of crucial importance in high school English learning. This study adopts one case study and collects data by classroom observation and interview to inquire three different types of teachers’ beliefs about analysis of English reading comprehension test, ways of discourse-oriented analysis of English reading comprehension test items and relevant effectiveness. It is found that the more discourse knowledge is applied in class, the higher the teaching efficiency would be achieved and students’ participation would be involved in. Therefore, in reading teaching class, teachers should guide students to read and analyze the passages deeply, figuring out the thematic meaning, basic contents, stylistic features, content organization structure, language style and main idea, etc. While analyzing reading comprehension test items, teachers can apply previous acquired discourse knowledge if needed. Discourse knowledge will help teachers guide students to analyze and find out proper thinking and useful skills to do reading comprehension questions. It will also be helpful for teachers to abandon the traditional way of analyzing reading comprehension test items and organizing teaching based on the nature of discourse.

Reducing cost and ensuring environmental sustainability: Palm kernel expeller as an alternative sculpture material for casting in Ghana

The materials for sculpture in Ghana have always been clay, wood, cement, resin, and silicon. These materials have their limitations. Also, some students do not have the financial strength to purchase them because they are expensive. This situation slows down the pace in the teaching and learning of practical activities in the Sculpture discipline in most Ghanaian educational institutions. Owing to this, the researchers explored the possibility of experimenting with local materials in the home regions of students which could have otherwise been a nuisance in the environment as alternative sculptural materials. The researchers adopted the Double Helix of Praxis Exegesis Model, which is an arts-based method undergird in the eco-innovation theory to investigate the possibility of using palm kernel which is abundant in the Anloga Sobolo community, Kumasi, Ghana as an alternative material for modeling, casting, and carving. The palm kernel expellers were prepared by collecting the kernel, cracking, firing, milling, and cooking to extract the oil, and then the expeller. The palm kernel expellers were mixed with selected binders to produce aesthetically pleasing modeled, cast, and carved works. Findings revealed that palm kernel expeller is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative material for sculpture. The study contends that teachers and students in the sculpture discipline in the various Senior High and tertiary educational institutions in Ghana should constantly explore waste local materials as alternative materials for practical activities in sculpture to reduce cost and to serve as a tool for ensuring environmental sustainability.

Can a corporate well-being programme maintain the strengths of the healthy employee in times of COVID-19 and extensive remote working? An empirical case study.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the increase of working-from-home have drastically changed many aspects of work life, causing very negative effects on employees' physical and psycho-social well-being. Healthy organisations have healthy employees, who have at least five psycho-social strengths of engagement, self-efficacy, resilience, optimism and hope, which are reinforced by physical activity, relating to each other in a positive way and leading to numerous benefits for the company. These strengths are being weakened by the pandemic, and the aim of this empirical study is to analyse through a case study the effects of an updated corporate wellness programme in times of pandemic on these strengths of the healthy employee. The sample was of 251 employees, 91 women and 160 men. The instruments used were the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the adaptation of the Healthy and Resilient Organization questionnaire. The results indicated that workers with high physical activity, higher seniority, well guided by supervisors, as well as a comprehensive (multi-component) well-being programme, not only physical but also psycho-social, and with the use of different digital tools (an App is not enough), can mitigate these negative effects. Whereas companies are grappling with reduced employee engagement among other harmful psychosocial and physical effects, this case study suggests that a good corporate well-being programme could help mitigate these detrimental consequences for their workforce and be helpful for the company to adapt to this rapidly changing workplace. This study considers the impact of immigration and ethnic diversity on government spending in 31 OECD countries over 25 years and compares the marginal effects for expenditures and revenues to approximate the fiscal burden. Results suggest that ethnic fractionalization, not immigration itself, has a negative impact on spending in the OECD. On the whole, immigrants tend to contribute more in taxes than they cause in expenditures, at least relative to the averages for the population as a whole, but this effect is reversed for immigrants from poorer countries.

Effect of Organizational Commitment on Turnover Intention of Senior High Private School Teachers in Cebu City, Philippines

The additional two years of the country's basic education program worsened the private school teacher shortages, posing a potential problem to retain competent teachers as they are affected by teachers' migration to public schools. This paper examined the effect of organizational commitment on turnover intention of senior high (S.H.) private school teachers in one of the biggest cities in the country. Purposive sampling was used to collect data from the top four S.H. private schools in Cebu City with the highest number of students. A total of 220 Cebu City-based teachers completed the survey. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze the collected data. Results show that affective and normative commitments have significant and negative relationships with turnover intention. These results suggest that private schools in Cebu City need to develop activities that can build teacher-institution relationships to increase the emotional attachment and obligations of the teachers to stay for their students and institution. The study recommends to conduct a study exploring mediating factors (e.g., job satisfaction and employee empowerment) to provide more comprehensive results on turnover intention.

Findings from Nutriplanet: how ready are we for healthy aging?

Healthy aging has become one of the important focus in many countries. The World Health Organization and the United Nation have initiated The Healthy Aging Decade (2021 – 2030) which focus on collaborative efforts to reach healthy aging condition – a condition in which the senior population remains productive, has good quality of life and not become economic burden for the country. To reach this condition, one should put efforts as early as possible. In Indonesia, it is predicted that in 2040 there will be an increment in aging population. Pre-senior population (aged 45 – 60 years) will reach 17.5% and senior population (aged >60 years) will reach 10.1%. These numbers will make Indonesia one of the countries with the highest senior population in the world.

Age, Sex, and Profession Difference Among Health Care Workers With Burnout and Metabolic Syndrome in Taiwan Tertiary Hospital-A Cross-Section Study.

BackgroundThis cross-sectional study aimed to analyze the association between burnout, work-related factors and metabolic syndrome (MetS) among various health-care workers (HCWs) at a tertiary hospital in Taiwan.MethodsRelevant demographic data were obtained through written questionnaires. Information about psychosocial and work conditions, including assigned department, working hours, shifts, and sleep condition, was obtained. Burnout was evaluated according to the Chinese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory–Health Services Survey. MetS was analyzed according to the criteria of the National Cholesterol Education Program of Taiwan–Treatment Panel for Adults III.ResultsA total of 1,055 non-doctor/nurse and 2,078 doctor/nurse staff with a median age of 45.2 and 36.1 years participated in this study. The incidence of burnout was nearly 6.42 and 6.68% and that of MetS was 31.4 and 13.5% in non-doctor/nurse and doctor/nurse staff, respectively. The results showed that burnout induced a higher Odds ratio (OR) of MetS in the doctor/nurse group (OR = 1.96, p = 0.01). Other factors, such as night shift and seniority (>10 years), led to a higher OR of MetS, but a decreased risk was observed based on seniority (2–4 years). Further, young female participants and young doctors/nurses with burnout had a higher OR of MetS compare to other groups (OR = 2.43 and 2.32, p < 0.05).ConclusionThe study results suggested positive relationship between burnout and MetS in young female staffs and young doctors/nurses. For doctor/nurse staff with higher seniority or more night shifts, strategies are needed to prevent burnout and MetS.

K-Means Cluster Analysis for Grouping Districts in South Sulawesi Province Based on Village Potential

Cluster analysis is an analysis in multivariable statistics that is used to group objects that have the same characteristics. One of the methods in cluster analysis used to group relatively large amounts of data is the K-Means method. In this study, the K-Means method was applied to classify sub-districts in South Sulawesi Province based on village potential. The variables used are the number of: Elementary School/Equivalent degree, Junior High School/Equivalent degree, Senior High School/Vocational School/Equivalent degree, Community Health Center/Pustu, Families without electricity, Villages/Urbans according to market presence, Villages/Towns that are passed by public transportation and Villages/Kelurahan that have lighting main road. The results of this study are that 3 groups are formed where the first cluster consists of 107 sub-districts that have high village potential, the second cluster consists of 16 sub-districts that have medium village potential and the third cluster consists of 184 sub-districts that have low village potential.

ICT: Breaking Barriers to Contraceptives Information and Usage among Adolescents in the Sunyani East Municipality, Brong Ahafo Region, Ghana

Introduction: Information Communication Technology (ICT) is the use of computers, mobile phones and internet to access, process, receive, send, and use various kinds of data and information. With the expansion of mobile phone users and availability of internet services, teenagers are now using ICT to create awareness and use contraceptives, an area considered to be the preserved of married couple.&#x0D; Purpose: The paper examines how the application of ICT by teenagers broken traditional and religious barriers to accessing and utilizing contraceptive information in the Sunyani East Municipality.&#x0D; Methodology: The research design was a mixed method combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The target population was teenagers between the ages of 11 and 19 years in Senior High and Junior High Schools. Out of 87 schools, 16 schools were randomly selected using simple random sampling technique. The total sample size was 212 teenagers. Data was collected from the respondents, using interviews, questionnaires and focus group discussions. The paper found that ICT is a major means of accessing, sharing and using information about contraceptives by the teenagers, information is hard to access because of societal perceptions, sociocultural and psycho-religious barriers.&#x0D; Findings: The paper found that ICT has impact on their perceptions, utilization or otherwise, because they now the effects of various kinds of contraceptives.&#x0D; Recommendation: The paper recommends that teenagers should be given proper ICT education to enable them use credible websites on the internet to get contraceptive information. Education should be intensified through the mass media, free lectures, radio and television discussions to augment the use of ICT to expand the number of teenagers using contraceptive.&#x0D;

Naval hygienist Zun Andrey Vadimovich: professionalism, erudition and fidelity to traditions

We are considering the main aspects of the professional activity of an outstanding naval hygienist, alumnus of the Faculty of residency training for the Naval Service of Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov (1964), Candidate of Medical Sciences (1971), Higher Senior Officer (graduate education hygiene) of the Scientific Research Center of the Academy (1975), Associate Professor at the Department of Naval and Radiation Hygiene (2004), retired Colonel of the Medical Service Zun Andrey Vadimovich. Having gained a unique experience in medical practice as the Head of the medical service of a diesel-electric submarine of the Baltic Fleet and having completed his postgraduate studies at the Department of Naval and Radiation Hygiene (Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov), Andrey Vadimovich successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (graduate education hygiene) on the topic "Hygienic characteristics of the working conditions of specialists working on the fleet shore installations of the Naval Service, working with components of rocket fuel". After this more than 45 years of his professional activity were devoted specifically to the preventive medicine trend hygiene. The main professional achievements of Andrey Vadimovich undoubtedly include the study of the physiological effect of negative air ions in closed premises with conditions of oxygen deficiency, the study of the workplace hygiene of coastal missile systems specialists, as well as the hygienic characteristics of military clothing. Andrey Vadimovich has been also teaching such academic disciplines as naval and radiation hygiene, as well as medical ecology for all categories of Academy students. He is a veteran of the Armed Forces and Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov. Andrey Vadimovich considers the success of his son and grandson as the main achievement of his life. His son Sergey followed the path taken by his father and graduated from the Faculty of Residency Training for the Naval Service of Military Medical Academy named after S.M.
