The 2024 7th International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials (CEAM 2024) was held in Philadelphia, USA during September 28-29, 2024. This conference aims to provide opportunities for all participants to exchange new innovative ideas and application experiences as well as to provide a platform where possible innovators can think of new ventures, generate contacts and networks for future collaboration. The CEAM 2024 topics include chemical engineering, biological chemistry, biological pharmacy, food science, chemical materials, nano materials, materials processing engineering, and advanced materials applications. This conference brought together leaders from industry and academia to exchange and share their experiences, present research results, explore collaborations, and to spark new ideas, with the aim of developing new projects and exploiting new technology. Bibliometric and visual analysis of SGLT2 inhibitors in cardiovascular diseases.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) pose a significant threat to human health due to their high mortality and morbidity rates. Despite advances in treatments, the prevalence and impact of cardiovascular disease continue to increase. Sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), initially approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, have important research value and promising applications in reducing CVD risk, especially in heart failure (HF) and atherosclerosis patients with cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). This study aims to comprehensively review the latest progress, research trends, cutting-edge hot spots, and future development directions of SGLT2i in the field of CVD through bibliometric analysis. Articles related to MSCs in cardiovascular diseases were sourced from the Web of Science. The bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer, and a knowledge map was created based on the data obtained from the retrieved articles. In this article, we screened 3,476 relevant studies, including 2,293 articles and 1,183 reviews. The analysis found that the number of papers related to the application of SGLT2i in CVD has generally increased, peaking in 2022. The United States and China contributed the largest number of papers, with the United States accounting for 36.97% of the total and also ranking first in terms of the number of citations. However, China's high-quality papers are slightly lacking and need further improvement. Keyword analysis showed that empagliflozin, dapagliflozin, diabetes, and heart failure were the most common terms, reflecting the main research interests in currently published papers in this field. Bibliometric analysis showed a robust and growing interest in the application of SGLT2i for treating CVD. By summarizing the latest progress of SGLT2i in the field of CVD, exploring research hotspots, and looking forward to future research development trends, this article provides valuable insights for thinking about research prospects.

Waste paper recycling and its application in modification of the green biodegradable material

Waste paper is a significant waste resource that is part of waste polymer materials in vast quantities, and there is now a lot of focus on the development of high-value conversion and use technologies for waste paper. High-quality waste paper fibers (WF) were extracted in this work from the deinked waste paper pulp by mechanical process. Then, waste paper fiber/polylactic acid (WF/PLA) composites were synthesized using hybrid forming technique to investigate the modification impact of WF on WF/PLA composites. The results showed that a certain additive amount of WF could improve barrier property of WF/PLA composites. When WF was added of 3.5 %, a water vapor transport rate was only of 59 g/(m2d), and the barrier property was increased by 82.8 %. Besides, WF/PLA composites also possessed good thermal stability. With the additive WF ranging from 3 % to 4 %, the initial decomposing temperature of WF/PLA composites increased by 19℃. Importantly, the transparency of PLA was slightly improved with a certain addition of WF. Hence, this work realized the performance enhancement of WF/PLA composites by a small addition of WF, and reduced the production cost of PLA to some extent, which had a good application prospect.

Bibliometric analysis of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy

Objective: Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy refers to the genetic material with specific antigen recognition domain and T cell activation signal is transferred into T cells through gene modification technology. By engineering T-cells to specifically target and eliminate tumor cells, CAR-T therapy has shown remarkable efficacy in treating certain hematological malignancies. Understanding its advancements helps optimize therapeutic strategies, enhance patient outcomes, and guide future innovations in immunotherapy. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the progress of CAR-T therapy by bibliometrics. Methods: By using the keywords of “CAR-T therapy” and “immune cells”, all relevant literature were comprehensively searched from the Web of Science. Research trends in related field were analyzed by using VOSviewer, Pajek, Microsoft Excel and Endnote software, to explore research hotspots, development trends, and future directions for CAR-T therapy. Results: The United States emerges as the most productive country in related field, and the institutions with the highest number of publications is the University of Pennsylvania. As for journals, Frontiers in Immunology appears to be one of the most productive journals. Notably, Gottschalk Stephen publishes the largest number of articles. Keyword cluster analysis shows that the current research trend is more focused on immune cell, so as to explore the mechanisms and modalities of CAR-T therapy. Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive summary and analysis of global research trends in CAR-T therapy. In the past 5 years, the number of high-quality papers in this field has increased significantly. CAR-T therapy has emerged as a beacon of hope for tumor treatment, representing a significant advancement in healthcare for a wide range of patients, including those with major diseases and suboptimal health conditions.

The 2024 3rd International Conference on Management Engineering and Economic Analysis (MEEA 2024) was held in London, United Kingdom during August 17-18, 2024. This conference is to bring together innovative academics and experts in the fields of management engineering, business statistics, marketing strategies, financial economics and economic analysis to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities and another goal is to promote information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference model of MEEA 2024 was divided into two sessions, including oral presentations and keynote speeches. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given 10-15 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 35-45 minutes to hold their speeches. We are glad to share with you that we received lots of submissions from the conference and we selected a bunch of high-quality papers and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorous reviewing. Epigenetic changes driven by environmental pollutants in lung carcinogenesis: a comprehensive review.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, with environmental pollutants identified as significant risk factors, especially for nonsmokers. The intersection of these pollutants with epigenetic mechanisms has emerged as a critical area of interest for understanding the etiology and progression of lung cancer. Epigenetic changes, including DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNAs, can induce alterations in gene expression without affecting the DNA sequence and are influenced by environmental factors, contributing to the transformation of normal cells into malignant cells. This review assessed the literature on the influence of environmental pollutants on lung cancer epigenetics. A comprehensive search across databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase yielded 3,254 publications, with 22 high-quality papers included for in-depth analysis. These studies demonstrated the role of epigenetic markers, such as DNA methylation patterns of genes like F2RL3 and AHRR and alterations in the miRNA expression profiles, as potential biomarkers for lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. The review highlights the need to expand research beyond homogenous adult male groups typically found in high-risk occupational environments to broader population demographics. Such diversification can reduce biases and enhance the relevance of findings to various clinical contexts, fostering the development of personalized preventive and therapeutic measures. In conclusion, our findings underscore the potential of innovative epigenetic therapies, such as DNA demethylating drugs and histone modification agents, to counter environmental toxins' carcinogenic effects. The growing interest in miRNA therapies and studies aiming to correct aberrant methylation patterns indicate significant strides toward better lung cancer management and a healthier future for global communities.

Recent advancements in Mechanical Engineering, particularly in areas such as thermo-fluids and system design, have spurred the need for comprehensive discussions on the development of associated sciences and their diverse applications worldwide. This initiative aimed to foster global awareness among researchers, including those who participated in our inaugural conference, ICTFSD 2022, and others from India and abroad eager to join our collaborative platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing local innovations. Thus, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi (India) organized the 2nd International Conference on Thermo-Fluids and System Design (ICTFSD) 2024 on April 4-5, 2024. The conference convened experts from academic institutions, research organizations, industries, and policymakers to facilitate in-depth interactions. Keynote speakers from India, the US, and Europe delivered talks on various applications within these fields. The conference was heavily supported through financial assistance from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India. Partial financial support was also received from private partners viz. ANSYS Inc., Entuple Technologies and COMSOL Multiphysics Pvt. Ltd. ICTFSD 2024 aimed to promote industry-relevant research in academic and research institutions, establishing networks for collaborative research and development. It identified emerging research areas while showcasing high-quality papers spanning both emerging and traditional fields. All conference papers underwent rigorous peer review by a technical committee, with select papers earmarked for publication in the Journal of Physics Conference Series, IOP Publications. The conference conveners and organizing secretaries, who also served as Editors of the Conference Series, extend gratitude to the Morressier team and the IOP publications team for helping us in the entire review and publication process. According to the research findings, it is the most productive in the United States. The institution with the highest number of publications is the University of Pennsylvania. Frontiers in Immunology is one of the most productive journals. Kenderian Saad Sirop publishes the largest number of articles. Keyword cluster analysis shows that the current research trend is more focused on tumor-associated macrophages as well as immunotherapy, exploring the mechanisms and modalities of CAR-M therapy. Editorial: Inaugural Issue of the International Journal of Bridge Engineering, Management and Research (IJBEMR)

It is my pleasure to share with you the inaugural issue of the newly established International Journal of Bridge Engineering, Management and Research. The International Journal of Bridge Engineering, Management and Research (BER) is a fully open access online-only journal. It serves as a forum for the publication of scientific and technical papers related to all aspects of bridge engineering and management, including structural, seismic, hydraulic and geotechnical risk analysis, structural health monitoring, static and dynamic assessments, structural retrofitting, and resiliency enhancement. The journal also publishes research papers on tunnels focusing on the areas mentioned above. Technical research papers and case studies dealing with innovative technological or computational solutions to bridges and tunnels, as well as experimental methods and novel design and theoretical analysis procedures are strong candidates for publication in the journal. This inaugural issue features five high quality papers in bridge engineering. A Qualitative Study on the Relationship between Faculty Mobility and Scientific Impact: Toward the Sustainable Development of Higher Education

Faculty mobility is one of the most important research issues in the field of higher education. Reasonable faculty mobility can actively promote the fair, coordinated, balanced, healthy, and sustainable development of higher education. Scientific impact is the best proof of faculty members’ research abilities and is often represented by the quality of their articles. In particular, the gradual increase in citations of high-quality papers is undoubtedly an important reflection of healthy development in the academic field. This paper aims to explore the influence of faculty mobility on scientific impact, while comparative analysis is used to investigate whether there are disciplinary differences in the relationship between faculty mobility and scientific impact. Four major disciplines—sociology, mathematics, mechanical engineering, and philosophy—are selected as the scope of this study. Articles in these four major disciplines from 2000 to 2020 are obtained from the Web of Science, and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test are used to analyze the collected data. The results indicate the following: (1) faculty mobility has increased, with differences across disciplines; (2) mobility leads to a decrease in the number of citations, which decreases significantly with increased mobility frequency; and (3) the impact of mobility has disciplinary differences, with a relatively obvious decrease in mechanical engineering.

With the rapid progress of science and technology, the research and application in the fields of energy technology and materials science are increasingly in-depth, and experts and scholars around the world are committed to promoting the innovation and development in these areas. It is against this background that we welcomed the highly anticipated 2024 8th International Conference on Energy Technology and Materials Science (ICETMS 2024). The conference was successfully held in Chongqing, China from May 31st to June 2nd, 2024, attracting the participation of almost 100 scholars, researchers and industry experts from all over the world. The convening of this conference has benefited from the active participation and enthusiastic support of experts and scholars around the world. We received a large number of high-quality paper submissions, covering New and Renewable Energy Technologies, Traditional Energy Transformation and Cleaner Production, Energy Storage Technologies and Battery Materials, Energy Security and Sustainable Development, Energy System Simulation and Optimization, and many other aspects. Bibliometric analysis of natural killer cell therapy in anti-cancer research

Natural killer (NK) cells are key immune cells, equivalent to T cells, and act as the immune system’s “first responders.” Under abnormal conditions, NK cells will release cytotoxic particles containing perforin and granzyme to destroy cancer cells before T cells deploy. Especially in tumor patients and post-surgery, the number of NK cells and activity are reduced, impairing their anticancer role. This study aims to explore the research progress and trend of NK cells. This bibliometric analysis describes emerging trends in NK cell therapy and provides insights for future research. Relevant literature from the Web of Science was downloaded and analyzed using VOSviewer, Pajek, Microsoft Excel, and Endnote. The findings demonstrate that the United States is the most productive country in NK cell therapy research, with Harvard Medical School being the leading institution. Frontiers in Immunology is a highly productive journal in this field, and Miller Jeffrey Scott is the most prolific author. Keyword cluster analysis indicates that current research focuses on NK cells and immunotherapy, exploring the mechanisms and modalities of NK cell therapy. In summary, this study provides a comprehensive summary and analysis of global research trends in NK cell therapy. Over the past few decades, the number of high-quality papers in this field has increased significantly, offering new hope for tumor treatment and benefiting tumor patients, those with major diseases, and the sub-healthy population.

A review of graph neural networks and pretrained language models for knowledge graph reasoning

Knowledge Graph (KG) stores human knowledge facts in an intuitive graphical structure but faces challenges such as incomplete construction or inability to handle new knowledge. Knowledge Graph Reasoning (KGR) can make KGs more accurate, complete, and trustworthy to support various artificial intelligence applications better. Currently, the popular KGR methods are based on graph neural networks (GNNs). Recent studies have shown that hybrid logic rules and synergized pre-trained language models (PLMs) can enhance the GNN-based KGR methods. These methods mainly focus on data sparsity, insufficient knowledge evolution patterns, multi-modal fusion, and few-shot reasoning. Although many studies have been conducted, there are still few review papers that comprehensively summarize and explore KGR methods related to GNNs, logic rules, and PLMs. Therefore, this paper provides a comprehensive review of GNNs and PLMs for KGR based on a large number of high-quality papers. To present a clear overview of KGR, we propose a general framework. Specifically, we first introduce the KG preparation. Then we provide an overview of KGR methods, in which we categorize KGR methods into GNNs-based, logic rules-enhanced, and pre-trained language models-enhanced KGR methods. Furthermore, we also compare and analyze the GNN-based KGR methods in two scenarios. Moreover, we also present the application of KGR in different fields. Finally, we discuss the current challenges and future research directions for KGR.

How to Achieve Further Progress of Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society (JKNS) - Improve the Impact Factor (IF) and Maintain It Continuously.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society (JKNS), which has a history of over 50 years, has made great progress recently. In order to continue this progress in the future, we need to think about the strategies we will take and put them into practice. The progress of JKNS is an important opportunity to publicize the achievements of Korean neurosurgery to the world and for Korea to contribute further to global neurosurgery. We also need to think about and implement various measures to improve the inflow of papers of high quality from various countries and to establish an appropriate merit system for reviewers.

Developing writing productivity in a graduate support community

Purpose This paper aims to examine how doctoral students in education and applied linguistics fields successfully navigated graduate writing demands by participating in a support community that catalyzed writing productivity, peer mentoring and feedback. Guiding graduate students’ writing processes based on scholarly interests and providing peer support are vital to scholarly productivity and transition into academia. Design/methodology/approach Following a collaborative analytic autoethnographic case study design (Adams et al., 2022; Chang et al., 2013), the authors narrated major events that impacted their writing and publication experiences. The authors visualized their entire doctoral writing experience based on the frequency of writing events that contributed to writing productivity. In data triangulation discussions, the authors reflected on writing experiences. Findings Findings show that the support community alleviated individual struggles associated with writing a dissertation and high-quality papers. Key factors contributing to scholarly growth included nonevaluative peer support, feedback and shared academic resources. Writing within the periphery of faculty research and predominantly focusing on doctoral milestones led to individual scholarly interests being overshadowed. Without structured guidance, doctoral writers may develop initiatives to alleviate individual struggles and meet academic writing demands in the disciplines. Research limitations/implications The authors recommend including structured guidance on developing writing productivity and a personal research agenda in the early stages of the doctorate. Originality/value This study offers unique examples of how a student group supported writing productivity and socialization into the academic community. Knowledge Management for Improved Digital Transformation in Insurance Companies: Systematic Review and Perspectives

Knowledge Management (KM) plays a pivotal role in contemporary businesses, facilitating the identification, management, and utilization of existing knowledge for organizational benefit. This article underscores the indispensability of effective KM processes in the insurance industry, which is undergoing profound digital transformation. Through a systematic review utilizing the PRISMA framework, we meta-analyzed 85 high-quality scientific papers sourced from prominent databases spanning 2008 to 2022. Our examination centers on the diverse implementation processes of KM worldwide, emphasizing the integration of information technologies to enhance data collection, analysis, processing, and distribution within insurance companies. The objective of this review is twofold: to devise efficient methods for implementing KM systems in the insurance sector and to delineate practical research directions in this domain.
