Chemical recycling of waste polyurethane (WPU) is promising to achieve green chemistry and circular resource utilization by recycling high-value chemicals. However, combining high-effectively degradation and product separation with minimal energy consumption remain a major challenge. Herein, we develop a simple and efficient strategy that can realize the fast degradation of WPU and easy separation of the degradation products ina speciallydesigned reaction system under mild conditions. The WPU is completely degraded into polyols and benzene derivative products at 80 °C within 2 h. More significantly, the specific reaction system is easily separated into three phases by simple centrifugation, the fluid in up layer is polyols alcohol solution, the lower layer is catalyst solution, and the benzene derivative product is in the middle layer as solid form, thus making the reaction system very easy to separation and obtaining the degradation products. This work provides a new insight in the development of efficient chemical degradation and simple separation and purification technologies for WPU recycling.
