Community-Based Tourism Implementation as Mediator on the Relationship between Community Participation and Socio-Economic Sustainability of Tourism

This study explored the mediating effect of community-based tourism implementation on the relationship between community participation and the socio-economic sustainability of tourism in Marilog District. This study employed a quantitative method and stratified random sampling to select the 380 respondents. The survey was distributed to two areas in Marilog District: Barangay Baganihan and Barangay Datu Salumay. The data was evaluated to ascertain whether the variables had a statistical relationship. This study used non-experimental quantitative research, the descriptive-correlation approach, and mediation analysis. The weighted mean, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis, and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The result revealed that the respondents have high levels of community participation, socio-economic sustainability, and community-based tourism implementation. The relationship between community participation and socio-economic sustainability, community participation and community-based tourism implementation, and socio-economic sustainability and community-based tourism implementation were statistically significant. However, the indirect effect of community participation in socio-economic sustainability through community-based tourism implementation is insignificant and statistically supported by this study, indicating no significant mediation. The study findings’ implications are presented.

Latino Family Engagement and Student Outcomes in Early Elementary School: Evidence from Two National Datasets

ABSTRACT Family engagement in children’s schooling is important. Research indicates that Latino families often utilize home-based practices (e.g. reading, telling stories, singing, counting) over school-based involvement (e.g. participating in school events and committees, volunteering in the classroom). Using an assets-based approach, the present study considers both school- and home-based forms of engagement for Latino families. Drawing upon data from two large, nationally representative datasets, the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 2010–11 (ECLS-K:2011; N = 4,590) and the Head Start Impact Study (HSIS; N = 1,670), this study seeks to examine national patterns of Latino family school- and home-based engagement in kindergarten, and how such engagement relates to child academic, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes in early elementary school. Descriptive findings show high levels of Latino family participation in a variety of both home-based academic activities and school-based activities. Regression analyses indicate an association between Latino family engagement and child outcomes, most evident in school-based engagement. Implications for educators, schools, and research are discussed.

Parents’ Involvement to Schools’ Programs and Activities among Select Archdiocesan Schools: A Basis for an Enhanced PTA Program

This study explores parental involvement in school programs and activities within Archdiocesan schools during the academic year 2023-2024, aiming to inform the development of an enhanced PTA program. Using a descriptive-correlational design with 192 participants, the research examines how PTAs collaborate in various roles, such as financiers, observers, and others, to support and improve school initiatives. The results indicate a relatively high level of parental participation, showing a correlation between degrees of involvement and employment position. The findings suggest well-rounded participation across different roles, where parents contribute financially, actively observe their children's progress, volunteer their time and skills, and, in some cases, hold decision-making power, while others stay informed as interested observers. Recommendations for parents, school administrators, and the TASS superintendent are provided to strengthen program implementation through an improved PTA program. The study underscores the importance of a strong parent-teacher partnership in fostering well-rounded and socially responsible citizens.

Partisipasi Masyarakat Dalam Kegiatan Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan Desa (Musrenbangdes) Di Desa Sumberejo Kabupaten Madiun

Communities must have active participation in development. Because the community is no longer the object of development but the subject of development. In 2023, Madiun Regency won an award in the 2024 RKP National Musrenbang with a special category of Alternative KPBU Financing Innovation for Infrastructure Provision. This is of course also supported by the quality of Musrenbang activities at the District and Village levels. Because, Development Planning must start from the bottom, namely at the village level. The Village Musrenbang is one of the forums for the community to participate in development plans at the village level. Sumberejo Village is one of the villages in Madiun Regency that has a high level of community attendance in the Village Musrenbang. The purpose of this research is to describe the participation of the community of Sumberejo Village and to describe the high level of community participation. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with data from interviews, observations, and documentation as primary data, as well as secondary data in the form of literature that has relevance to this research. The results of this study based on Dwiningrum's form of community participation, namely attendance at meetings, discussions, contribution of ideas, and response or rejection of the program offered, show that the participation of the community of Sumberejo village, Madiun district, in the Village Musrenbang activities is good.

Perspectives and involvement of children and adolescents during the decision-making process of their Covid-19 vaccination

ObjectiveThis study aims to understand the perspectives of young people towards their Covid-19 vaccination and their involvement in the decision-making process. MethodsSemi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 children and adolescents (aged 8-19 years), who attended a school in Germany during the pandemic. Interviews were explored with structured and evaluative content-analysis. ResultsFive overarching themes were identified:1) Motivators for vaccination: protection against Covid-19, secondary societal benefits and positive experience of peers2) Barriers to vaccination: perceived lack of risk for severe disease3) Participation in the decision-making process: mostly adult-initiated shared decisions4) Role of vaccination status at school: issues of marginalization and stigmatization5) Wishes to adults and politicians: need for better information ConclusionInvolving children at a high level of participation while taking into account their individual maturity could be a favourable strategy in a family`s decision-making process regarding vaccination. Expectations from peers or parents and societal benefits as primary incentive to get vaccinated should be minimized during the decision-process. Practice implicationsOur study highlights the need to include young people`s perspectives in vaccine research, -development and -education campaigns. Future research should develop instruments to structurally embed and promote children and youth participation in healthcare-related decisions.

Heatwaves and its impact on the depressive symptoms among Chinese community-dwelling older adults: examining the role of social participation

ObjectivesBased on the Environment-Person Fit Perspective, this study explores the relationship between heatwaves and subsequent depressive symptoms among older Chinese community dwellers. Additionally, the study investigates if this association varies among older adults with different levels of social participation. MethodsHeatwaves were defined as the frequency of occurrences where daily maximum temperature exceeded 35°C for 3 consecutive days. A sample including 7124 older adults aged 55 and above was selected from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. Depressive symptoms were measured by the 10-item Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale. Social participation was measured by volunteer participation and leisure participation. Multilevel fixed effect model was employed to investigate the temporal association between heatwaves and depressive symptoms, as well as the moderating effect of social participation. ResultsThis study found that older adults who had experienced a greater number of heatwaves presented more severe depressive symptoms (b = 0.66, p < 0.001). However, a high level of leisure participation buffered the effect of heatwaves on depressive symptoms (b = ̶ 0.52, p < 0.05). ConclusionsThis study highlighted the differential impact of heatwaves on mental health outcomes among older adults depending on their levels of social participation. Our findings provide valuable insights into designing an integrative heatwave adaption scheme that simultaneously focuses on temperature adjustment and social participation enhancement.

Implementing Montessori approaches after training: A mixed methods study to examine staff understanding and movement toward action.

Background: This paper uses Normalization Process Theory (NPT) to examine staff impressions of Montessori-based program training and implementation at Veterans Affairs Community Living Centers (VA CLCs; nursing homes). Methods: We conducted a mixed-methods evaluation of Montessori Approaches to Person-Centered Care (MAP-VA) at eight VA CLCs. Trainings were conducted as either a live virtual course or a pre-recorded asynchronous class. Two NPT constructs, coherence building and cognitive participation, informed qualitative interview questions, surveys, and analyses focused on staff movement from knowledge to action during initial implementation. Data collection included staff-completed standardized post-training exams (N = 906), post-training evaluations (N = 761), and optional validated surveys on perceptions of Montessori training (N = 307). Champions (peer-leaders) from each CLC completed semi-structured qualitative interviews post-training (N = 22). Findings: The majority of staff (83%-90%) passed all courses. Staff evaluated the training highly (80%+ agreement) on learning relevant new knowledge and confidence applying new skills. On average, staff felt MAP-VA would become a normal part of their work (7.68/10 scale), and reported increased familiarity with Montessori approaches after training (p = .002). Qualitative interview data from staff trained in Montessori supported three themes concordant with the NPT dimensions of coherence building and cognitive participation. (1) Coherence regarding Montessori: staff demonstrated an understanding of the program and mentioned the benefits of Montessori compared to their previous usual routines. Cognitive participation or engagement with Montessori: (2) staff had positive feelings about Montessori principles/applications and demonstrated a willingness to try the Montessori approach, and (3) staff made sense of the new intervention through early rehearsal of Montessori principles/practices and recognized opportunities for using Montessori in future interactions. Conclusions: Montessori virtual training resulted in high levels of coherence and cognitive participation among multidisciplinary staff, evidenced by high knowledge, self-efficacy, and readiness to act. The asynchronous and synchronous trainings were accessible, relevant, and supported diverse learners.

Unlocking employee engagement: Investigating the influence of informational justice in Nigerian banking sector

This study explores the relationship between informational justice and employee engagement. The objectives of the study are to examine the influence of informational justice on affective engagement, behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, and physical engagement. To guarantee a representative and varied sample of the Nigerian banking industry, a survey design was used, and participants were chosen using the stratified sampling technique. We collected necessary data from primary sources and deemed 209 copies of the 231 distributed questionnaires valid and suitable for the study. Preliminary findings suggest a strong positive relationship between employee engagement levels and perceptions of informational justice. Workers with higher levels of participation in all four categories—behavioral, cognitive, physical, and affective—tend to perceive a high degree of informational justice, where communication is clear, prompt, and comprehensive. This suggests that employees are more likely to be emotionally committed, display positive work behaviors, be intellectually focused, and be physically present in their tasks when they feel well-informed and sense fairness in the sharing of information. The findings contribute to the literature in several ways, including improving the understanding of informational justice in Nigeria's banking sector. Furthermore, the findings offer practical insights for the bank seeking to enhance employee engagement through improvements in communication processes and transparency.

Evaluation of Home Healthcare Services By Service Providers and Users

Background: On May 15, 2017, the Turkish Ministry of Health transferred the coordination and delivery of home healthcare services from primary healthcare facilities to hospitals. Objective:This study aims to find out what the patients, their families, and home healthcare providers think about this organizational change that has been made to the service delivery process. Methods: In the quantitative research, the survey created using the results of qualitative research was administered to 396 individuals, comprising 322 patients or their relatives and 74 medical staff members. The survey's reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, its validity was assessed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and the t-test was used to test the hypotheses. Results: Following the transfer of home health service delivery and coordination from primary healthcare institutions to hospitals, it was found that visit frequency-satisfaction, equity, monitoring-evaluation, and socio-economic support were the dimensions in which patients and their relatives participated more than healthcare personnel. However, compared to patients or patient relatives, healthcare personnel participate more in the areas of access to services, personnel-financial support, and private sector-security support. Conclusions: According to these findings, it is noteworthy that both groups have a much higher level of participation in issues that directly concern them. Thus, it is believed that improving the problems that clients and staff find objectionable will enhance home health services. The impact of internet device diversity on depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults in China: A cross-lagged model of social participation as the mediating role

BackgroundDepressive symptoms is more prevalent in middle-aged and older populations, and the development of Internet technology has brought new challenges and opportunities for the mental health of this group. This study aims to explore the bidirectional relationship between Internet device diversity and levels of depressive symptoms through longitudinal data analysis, as well as investigate the mediating role of social participation. MethodsData for the analysis was retrieved from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) in 2015, 2018, and 2020, which included 9259 middle-aged and older adults. The sum of the number of devices mentioned by each participant was calculated to assess the diversity of internet device use, a weighted total score of how frequently and to what extent individuals had participated in various social activities in the past month was calculated to measure the social engagement, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale was used to calculate depressive symptoms. A cross-lagged mediation model and bivariate correlation analysis were employed to examine the longitudinal relationships among depressive symptoms, internet device diversity, and social participation. Age, gender, highest education level, marital status, drinking status, smoking history, self-rated health, sleep duration, and chronic health conditions were adjusted as covariates. ResultsThe results from the three waves of longitudinal data revealed mutual predictive relationships among internet device diversity, social participation, and depressive symptoms. The mediating effect was significant (β = −0.612, 95 % CI −0.796 to −0.429), with significant gender differences observed. Furthermore, our findings indicated that social participation functioned as a protective factor against depressive symptoms, and the association between social participation and depressive symptoms was not a straightforward linear relationship. This suggests that participation in social activities (either high or low) is associated with a lower risk of depressive symptoms compared to no social participation, with no gender differences. ConclusionsThis study suggests that there is a relationship between internet device diversity and lower levels of depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults in China. Social participation mediates the relationship between internet device diversity and depressive symptoms, and different levels of social engagement have different effects on depressive symptoms. It is recommended to increase support for social participation among middle-aged and older adults, strengthen structural social capital, and better leverage the use of the internet to reduce depressive symptoms levels and promote the physical and mental well-being of this population.

Gendered Relationship of Childbearing with Earnings Accumulated by Midlife in Two Nordic Welfare States

AbstractThe Nordic welfare states are considered advanced in terms of gender equality, but even in these countries women still take longer family leave and have lower earnings than men. This study provides new insights by assessing the differences in accumulated midlife earnings associated with childbearing between women and men in Finland and Sweden. We pay particular attention to the size of the gender gap in accumulated earnings across groups. We hypothesize that the gender gap will be larger among those with a larger number of children, among those with a lower level of education, and overall in Finland. The study is based on complete population register data, with highly accurate measures of earnings over decades. Our results show that by the age of 44, women born in 1974–1975 in Finland and Sweden had earned on average 32% and 29% less than men, respectively. Childbearing strongly modifies the gender gap, especially in Finland, and the highly educated have moderately smaller gaps in both countries. Our results show that, even the Nordic welfare states, despite their strong policy emphasis on gender equality and their success in achieving high levels of female labor force participation, are far from closing the gender gap in earnings accumulated over the first half of the life course. Our results also suggest that governments seeking to achieve gender equality should be cautious about providing long family-related leave with flat-rate compensation.

Gender differences in rice production participation among smallholder farmers in small-scale irrigation schemes in mbarali district, Tanzania

Smallholder farmers are crucial to agri-food production in sub-Saharan Africa. However, gender disparities in rice production participation persist in Tanzania. Existing research has yet to fully explore how demographic and socioeconomic factors influence gendered participation in rice production. This study assesses gender differences in rice production participation patterns among smallholder farmers and identify gender-related socio-economic and demographic factors influencing differences in participation within small-scale irrigation schemes in Mbarali District. Using cross-sectional approach, data were collected from 397 randomly selected farmers through structured questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics, including ordered probit regression. The results revealed significant gender differences in rice production participation (p < 0.01). Male farmers had higher participation rates in activities such as land preparation, seedbed preparation, seedling management, irrigation, herbicide, fertilizer, pesticide application, harvesting, transporting, storage, and selling, while female farmers had higher participation rates in transplanting and weeding. The overall level of participation was moderate, with 78 % of male farmers and 49 % of female farmers. However, larger proportion of females (43 %) were at a lower participation levels compared to only 1 % of male farmers, while 21 % of males and 8 % of females were at high participation levels. Factors like household size, farming management, hierarchical position within households, decision-making power, and the ability to access irrigation water positively influenced participation levels, while land size cultivated had a negative impact (p < 0.05). These were gender-related socio-economic and demographic factors that disadvantage female farmers' participation (p < 0.05). While the age of the farmer and inadequacy of irrigation water significantly affected participation levels, farm-hired labour had positive influence, however, these factors were not gender-specific. The study concludes that gender differences in participation in rice production are influenced by demographic and socio-economic factors. To address these, the study recommends for interventions that reduce gender disparities by promoting equality in resource access, enhancing women's decision-making power over resources and ability to access irrigation water, and ensure sufficient water in small-scale irrigation schemes. The government should create an enabling environment that supporting female farmers in small-scale irrigation schemes for broader gender equality in agriculture and rural development.

In family we trust: Religiosity and credit rationing in family-owned firms

This paper investigates the influence of regional religiosity on credit rationing for family-owned firms in Italy. By using data from the VIII UniCredit Survey on medium-sized enterprises, we examine how the intersection of family ownership and religious engagement is related with firms’ access to credit. The results indicate that family firms are generally more likely to face credit restrictions; however, this likelihood is significantly reduced in regions with high levels of religious participation. This suggests that religious norms, which convey trustworthiness and lower risk in family firms, enhance their chances of obtaining credit from banks.

Cross Sectional Survey of Ob/Gyn Residents’ Graduated Experience with Robotic Surgery

Study ObjectiveOb/Gyn resident experience with robotic gynecologic surgery has been evaluated at time of graduation, but no specific surgical procedures were identified to differentiate the experiences of residents at each level. This study proposes to determine which factors are correlated with more hands-on robotic surgery experience and resident satisfaction. DesignAn IRB-approved, 15-question survey was distributed electronically. 98 responses were received for a rate of 44%. Linear regression and ANOVA statistical analysis were performed. SettingCurrent residents at eight Ob/gyn residency programs in the US were surveyed. PatientsN/A InterventionsSurvey administration Measurement and Main ResultsThe majority of respondents were satisfied (48%) or had neutral feelings (20%) with regard to their robotic surgery experience. All respondents reported experience with uterine manipulation or bedside assisting by PGY2. Earliest experience performing hysterectomy was most common in PGY2 or PGY3.Seventy-six percent of PGY3 or PGY4 residents report operating on the console for some or all major robotic surgeries, with 69% having participated in greater than 20 robotic surgery cases during residency. Only exposure to MIGS faculty is significantly associated with high robotic surgery experience (p=.022).Overall satisfaction with robotic surgery experience increased significantly with higher level of participation (p<.0001), particularly operating at the console during some or most of the surgery; longitudinal experiences with hysterectomy, myomectomy, and salpingectomy/oophorectomy (p<.05); but not with solely bedside assisting or vaginal cuff closure. Factors limiting robotic console experience included case time constraints, lack of first assists, case complexity, and attending comfort. ConclusionsOb/Gyn resident satisfaction with training is significantly related to level and duration of robotic surgery participation. MIGS faculty contribute to more resident experience, and limiting factors include time constraints, case complexity and lack of first assists. These results can provide a framework for structuring resident training in robotic surgery.

English Learners’ Belief and Investment in English Pronunciation Learning

Apprehensive pronunciation is crucial for learners' language competence and is an integral aspect of language instruction. Although English major students in China demonstrate improvement in their overall English proficiency when they enter university, many still struggle with their English pronunciation. Scholars have identified several internal and external factors that influence English pronunciation learning. However, little attention is given to the role of learners’ beliefs and investment as possible factors that influence English pronunciation learning, which in turn affect the learning approach and learning strategy used. To fill the gap, the current study adopts a qualitative design with multiple case studies to explore students’ beliefs, investments, and the relationship between these two concepts within the normative, meta-cognitive and contextual approach as well as investment theory. A semi-structured interview was conducted on three university students with different language abilities. The data obtained was analysed using NVivo 12 software. The findings of the study indicate that middle and high-level participants held positive perceptions, while low-level participants held negative perceptions in terms of English pronunciation learning. The study also reveals two forms of investment; diverse investment and incidental learning. In addition, the relationship between students’ beliefs and investments exhibited complex phenomena such as positive and negative congruence as well as incongruence. Based on these findings, some pedagogical implications and areas for ongoing research were proposed.

INORGANIC WASTE BINS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN MANAGING HOUSEHOLD WASTE

The increase in population significantly impacts the growth of waste volume. In Indonesia, poor waste management exacerbates the issue of waste. In Yogyakarta, specifically, this problem has become critical due to the permanent closure of the integrated waste disposal site that has been relied upon. Despite various government programs being implemented, the active participation of the community as waste producers in addressing waste issues must be continuously enhanced. Independent waste management is one of the frequently proposed solutions. This program is supported by an overarching program called the waste bank. The existence of the waste bank must be accompanied by a high level of community participation. However, the lack of community access to the waste bank needs attention. Accordingly, this community service program will provide inorganic waste bins to increase community participation in managing inorganic waste while supporting the role of the waste bank. There are two main activities in this program: the design and production of inorganic waste bins, and the community education of household waste management. This community service collaborates with the waste bank located in Muja-Muju, Yogyakarta, targeting the campus area of the Faculty of Engineering at UST and the community on Miliran Street. This initiative also involves cooperation between the campus and the bank in institutional-scale waste management.

Assessment of the heterogeneous impacts of global value chain participation on Sustainable economic growth and environmental quality

The Global Value Chain (GVC) is an essential aspect of sustainable economic growth and environmental quality in countries that participate in it. Therefore, comprehending the relationship between GVC and economic growth and carbon emissions is critical to achieving global climate neutrality targets. However, there is a paucity of knowledge regarding the impacts of disaggregated levels of GVC on economic growth and carbon emissions in countries with different income levels. In this study, we utilized the SYS-GMM model to explore the relationships between backward and forward GVCs and the economic growth and carbon emissions of 42 lower-middle, 36 middle-upper, and 48 high-income countries using data from 1995 to 2018. Our key findings suggest that forward GVC significantly increases economic growth and reduces CO2 emissions. Conversely, backward GVC reduces the economic growth and CO2 emissions of high-income countries. We also found that upper-middle-income economies can enhance their economic growth and reduce CO2 emissions by increasing their backward GVC. In contrast, lower-middle-income economies can increase their economic growth by participating in both forward and backward GVCs. However, higher levels of participation in both GVC components result in increased CO2 emissions. Our findings emphasize the importance of considering income levels when analysing the impact of GVC participation on economic growth and environmental sustainability. Overall, the relationship between economic growth and CO2 emissions with backward and forward GVCs varies significantly across country categories.

A Verifiable Multi-Secret Sharing Scheme for Hierarchical Access Structure

Sharing confidential information is a critical concern in today’s world. Secret sharing schemes facilitate the sharing of secrets in a way that ensures only authorized participants (shareholders) can access the secret using their allocated shares. Hierarchical secret sharing schemes (HSSSs) build upon Shamir’s scheme by organizing participants into different levels based on priority. Within HSSS, participants at each level can reconstruct the secret if a specified number, denoted as the threshold value (t), or more of them are present. Each level has a predetermined threshold value. If the number of participants falls below the threshold at any level, higher-level participants must be involved in reconstructing the secret at lower levels. Our paper proposes schemes that implement hierarchical access structures and enable the sharing of multiple secrets. Additionally, our proposed scheme includes share verification. We have analyzed potential attacks and demonstrated the scheme’s resistance against them. Through security analysis and comparison with existing schemes, we highlight the novelty and superiority of our proposed approach, contributing to advancements in secure information-sharing practices.

Why has Europe become the concentration area of multi-party states: A novel explanatory model of multifactorial mechanism

The existence of a multi-party system is one of the most important criterion for assessing the degree of democratization of a state. In contemporary democratic republics, the multi-party system has become a formalistic representation. However, in Europe, the de facto multi-party systems are extensively retained, making Europe a veritable concentration area of multi-party states. This research delved into the phenomenon and conducted a qualitative comparative analysis on the cases of 44 European countries to explore the factors contributing to multi-party states’ agglomeration in Europe. The findings demonstrate a novel explanatory model of multifactorial mechanism of Europe becoming the concentration area of multi-party states, whose solution coverage is 0.7 and solution consistency is 0.954545. According to the model, a developed country with a tradition of parliamentary government is more likely to possess a well-established multi-party system in a non-religious environment. High levels of educational attainment and political participation of the population allow a multi-party system to emerge and continue. Furthermore, the model indicates that a strong Christian culture hinders the development of multi-party systems to some extent, while economy growth has a direct and positive relationship with the formation and continuation of multi-party systems.

An Investigation of Public Participation on Policy Formulation in Devolved Government in Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya

Citizens in many county governments are not empowered to understand their role in development issues and feel that policy makers do not put into consideration their contribution in major decision making particularly affecting key development programs. Citizens in many counties feel more often than not that their predicaments have not been addressed effectively by their governments, bring in a lot of conflicts which at times has resulted in public unrest. This study therefore focused on establishing an investigation of public participation on policy formulation in devolved governments in Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The objectives of this study were to: establish the contribution of public participation in policy formulation in devolved government of Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya and to determine the level of public participation on policy formulation in devolved government of Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The study was based on Participatory Communication Theory and Ladder of Citizen Participation Theory. The study used a mixed-method approach, integrating both qualitative and quantitative research. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The target population was 115 and the researcher obtained a sample size of 89 respondents using Yamane formulae. The study used stratified random sampling to select the respondents. The study used questionnaires and an interview schedule to collect dataThe statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 24 was used to analyze quantitative data from the closed-ended questions. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics involved frequencies, percentages, standard deviation, and arithmetic mean. Inferential statistics involved correlation and multiple regression. The analyzed data was presented in the form of charts and tables. Privacy was maintained during the entire research period, and participation was entirely voluntary, free from coercion or inducement. The findings demonstrated that respondents agreed with the statement that member’s ideas and contributions in the public participation are given priorities (Mean=3.70, standard deviation=1.40), further, the findings indicated that that the respondents agreed with the statement that there is a moderate level of public participation on policy formulation (Mean=3.73, standard deviation=1.39). The study concluded that significant number of respondents believed in a high level of grassroots participation and others held contrary views, indicating that there may be disparities in how stakeholders perceive the depth of involvement. The study recommended that policy makers and county authorities should take steps to ensure that public participation processes are equitable and inclusive.
