Pelatihan Kepemimpinan Bagi Pengurus OSIS dan ROHIS SMP, SMA dan SMK Nusantara Ciputat

This community service activity aims to enhance leadership skills among students of SMP, SMA, and SMK Nusantara. The objectives of this activity include equipping participants with basic leadership skills applicable to school organizations, encouraging the development of responsible, integrity-based, and inspirational leadership characters, facilitating the exchange of ideas on leadership, and increasing participants' motivation to actively engage in organizational and community activities The activity was held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 08:00 to 12:30 WIB, in Auditorium R. 86-87 of SMA Nusantara, Jl Tarumanegara Dalam No 2, Kelurahan Pisangan, Kecamatan Ciputat Timur, Kota Tangerang Selatan. Participants included OSIS and Rohis board members from four schools, namely SMP Nusantara Plus, SMA Nusantara Plus, SMK Nusantara 1, and SMK Nusantara II Kesehatan, with a total of 80 students. The implementation methods included seminars for material presentation, interactive discussions, and leadership practice simulations. The results showed high levels of active participation and enthusiasm from the participants, indicating that the activity successfully enhanced their leadership capacities. This positive impact is expected to continue encouraging students' self-development and active roles in advancing their school and community environments

A Verifiable Multi-Secret Sharing Scheme for Hierarchical Access Structure

Sharing confidential information is a critical concern in today’s world. Secret sharing schemes facilitate the sharing of secrets in a way that ensures only authorized participants (shareholders) can access the secret using their allocated shares. Hierarchical secret sharing schemes (HSSSs) build upon Shamir’s scheme by organizing participants into different levels based on priority. Within HSSS, participants at each level can reconstruct the secret if a specified number, denoted as the threshold value (t), or more of them are present. Each level has a predetermined threshold value. If the number of participants falls below the threshold at any level, higher-level participants must be involved in reconstructing the secret at lower levels. Our paper proposes schemes that implement hierarchical access structures and enable the sharing of multiple secrets. Additionally, our proposed scheme includes share verification. We have analyzed potential attacks and demonstrated the scheme’s resistance against them. Through security analysis and comparison with existing schemes, we highlight the novelty and superiority of our proposed approach, contributing to advancements in secure information-sharing practices.

Why has Europe become the concentration area of multi-party states: A novel explanatory model of multifactorial mechanism

The existence of a multi-party system is one of the most important criterion for assessing the degree of democratization of a state. In contemporary democratic republics, the multi-party system has become a formalistic representation. However, in Europe, the de facto multi-party systems are extensively retained, making Europe a veritable concentration area of multi-party states. This research delved into the phenomenon and conducted a qualitative comparative analysis on the cases of 44 European countries to explore the factors contributing to multi-party states’ agglomeration in Europe. The findings demonstrate a novel explanatory model of multifactorial mechanism of Europe becoming the concentration area of multi-party states, whose solution coverage is 0.7 and solution consistency is 0.954545. According to the model, a developed country with a tradition of parliamentary government is more likely to possess a well-established multi-party system in a non-religious environment. High levels of educational attainment and political participation of the population allow a multi-party system to emerge and continue. Furthermore, the model indicates that a strong Christian culture hinders the development of multi-party systems to some extent, while economy growth has a direct and positive relationship with the formation and continuation of multi-party systems.

An Investigation of Public Participation on Policy Formulation in Devolved Government in Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya

Citizens in many county governments are not empowered to understand their role in development issues and feel that policy makers do not put into consideration their contribution in major decision making particularly affecting key development programs. Citizens in many counties feel more often than not that their predicaments have not been addressed effectively by their governments, bring in a lot of conflicts which at times has resulted in public unrest. This study therefore focused on establishing an investigation of public participation on policy formulation in devolved governments in Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The objectives of this study were to: establish the contribution of public participation in policy formulation in devolved government of Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya and to determine the level of public participation on policy formulation in devolved government of Keiyo South Sub County, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The study was based on Participatory Communication Theory and Ladder of Citizen Participation Theory. The study used a mixed-method approach, integrating both qualitative and quantitative research. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The target population was 115 and the researcher obtained a sample size of 89 respondents using Yamane formulae. The study used stratified random sampling to select the respondents. The study used questionnaires and an interview schedule to collect dataThe statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 24 was used to analyze quantitative data from the closed-ended questions. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics involved frequencies, percentages, standard deviation, and arithmetic mean. Inferential statistics involved correlation and multiple regression. The analyzed data was presented in the form of charts and tables. Privacy was maintained during the entire research period, and participation was entirely voluntary, free from coercion or inducement. The findings demonstrated that respondents agreed with the statement that member’s ideas and contributions in the public participation are given priorities (Mean=3.70, standard deviation=1.40), further, the findings indicated that that the respondents agreed with the statement that there is a moderate level of public participation on policy formulation (Mean=3.73, standard deviation=1.39). The study concluded that significant number of respondents believed in a high level of grassroots participation and others held contrary views, indicating that there may be disparities in how stakeholders perceive the depth of involvement. The study recommended that policy makers and county authorities should take steps to ensure that public participation processes are equitable and inclusive.

Outcomes of community-led urban rat control on avifauna

Cities are increasingly recognised as important sites for biodiversity and essential for improving human-nature connections. However, urban areas are also hotspots for rats, which negatively impact biodiversity due to competition and depredation. Urban residents may undertake rat control on their properties, but the effectiveness of such volunteer initiatives for broader biodiversity outcomes has not been tested in urban environments. We conducted a comprehensive study inclusive of rat abundance, adult bird diversity, and bird breeding success. We monitored rat (Norway rat Rattus norvegicus; ship rat Rattus rattus) presence and modelled detection probabilities and occupancy in suburban residential backyards in Auckland, New Zealand. We also compared bird abundance and richness among backyards and recorded 140 nesting attempts from 15 bird species between September 2021 and February 2022. Despite rat control, rats were detected at some point in all backyards, though relative abundance was low, and fewer rats were detected in backyards with more frequent rat control. Higher bird abundance, and to a lesser extent richness, were associated with proximity to native vegetation patches and more frequent rat control. Overall fledging success was relatively high and predation by rats was relatively low compared to previous research. Nest survival was slightly higher for introduced bird species. Daily nest survival rate increased with nest height, proximity to native vegetation patches, and when rat detection rates decreased. Although the effect was small, frequent rat control within a backyard was associated with increased fledging success and increased bird species richness and abundance. Further research is required to explore the factors that interact with backyard rat control to improve local outcomes for birds. High levels of community participation in backyard rat control are required to improve neighbourhood-wide outcomes for birds.

A Research on the Activities Carried out by Public Administration Units after the 06 February Earthquakes: The Case of Kahta

In the context of this research, which was prepared in order to investigate the level of participation of the staff of the Kahta Youth and Sports District Directorate, which is one of the provincial organisations of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in which activities they participated in after the 6 February earthquakes and the level of effect of the volunteer factor on this participation, literature information about the Turkish public administration and the Ministry of Youth and Sports was given first. In the next section, information about the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Kahta District Directorate is given. In the analysis part of the study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the diversity of activities in which the staff of the Kahta District Directorate participated after the 6 February earthquakes, their level of volunteerism and their future expectations in an institutional sense. The research showed that the staff of the Kahta Youth and Sports District Directorate successfully fulfilled their role in public administration after the earthquake and provided a high level of participation in the urgent needs of society. The volunteer factor also played an important role in this participation.

Modeling a game to shift peak water demands: WaterTime leaderboard

Residential water demands vary with a diurnal pattern, and peak hour demands lead to inefficiencies in the operation and management of urban water distribution systems. Peak hourly demands generate significant costs due to the energy requirements of producing and pumping large volumes of potable water. High peak demands also require large investments in infrastructure expansion to support urban growth and economic development. This research develops an agent-based model to assess a demand-side management strategy that shifts high hourly demands. This research envisions a gamification system that rewards players through a leaderboard for shifting water end uses for laundry, irrigation, and bathing from on-peak to off-peak periods. Gamification of demand shifting behaviors is enabled through advanced metering infrastructure, which measures hourly or sub-hourly demands at the account level, and can be analyzed to assess water use behaviors. This research develops an Agent-based Modeling approach based on the Opinion Dynamics theory to calculate the changing opinion of household agents toward shifting water demands, based on utility broadcasts, observations of neighbor water use, social media, and participation in a leaderboard. The model is applied for eight months of hourly demand data collected through smart meters at a participating utility. Results show that a high level of participation in the leaderboard increases the adoption rate of customers shifting the time of specific end uses and may account for up to a 37 % reduction of the peak volume. The diurnal curve is flattened as consumers shift water use from on-peak to off-peak hours. The Agent-Based Model - Opinion Dynamics approach can assist water utilities in designing and evaluating gamification approaches that mitigate peak demands to support water infrastructure management.

Benefits and functionality of an interorganisational workplace health management network - insights from the companies' perspective.

Workplace health management (WHM) is a worthwhile investment for companies. Nevertheless, the implementation of health-promoting interventions remains limited, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. Interorganisational networks could be a promising way to raise awareness of the advantages of implementing WHM. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyse the perceived functionality and benefits of a regional WHM network from companies' perspective and to present initial results on this specific topic. An explorative qualitative case study was conducted analysing ERZgesund, a WHM network in a rural region in Germany. Twenty-two companies that participated in the network were interviewed about their experiences and perceived advantages and disadvantages participating in the WHM network ERZgesund. The findings show that the network has raised awareness about WHM among the companies, provides opportunities for exchange of knowledge and experiences, and generates or strengthens collaboration. The positive effects were enhanced by the network's structure, such as regionality and a direct contact person. Nevertheless, some companies stated that they would welcome a higher level of participation and transparency. Overall, it becomes clear that a WHM network can be a valuable tool to emphasize the relevance of WHM to companies. Therefore, further studies should validate and intensify the research on WHM networks to ensure a long-term benefit from the network.

Navigating the Challenges in Setting Up a Sustainable Open-Heart Surgery Unit in a Resource-Constrained Environment in Northern Nigeria: Model and Strategies.

Cardiac surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass had been unavailable in Northern Nigeria and the federal capital territory of Nigeria regularly. Several attempts in the past at setting up this service in a self-sustaining manner in Northern Nigeria had failed. This paper is a contrasting response to an earlier publication that emphasized the less-than-desirable role played by international cardiac surgery missions in the evolution of a sustainable open-heart surgery program in Nigeria. The cardiothoracic unit of Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, was established on March 1, 2021, but could not conduct safe open-heart surgery. The model and strategies employed in commencing open-heart surgeries, including the choice of personnel training within the country and focused collaboration with foreign missions, are discussed. We also report the first seven patients to undergo cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass in our government-run hospital as well as the transition from foreign missions to local team operations. Seven patients were operated on within the first six months of setting up with high levels of skill transfer and local team participation, culminating in one of the operations entirely carried out by the local team of personnel. All outcomes were good at an average of one-year follow-up. In resource-constrained government-run hospitals, a functional, safe cardiac surgery unit can be set up by implementing well-planned strategies to mitigate encountered peculiar challenges. Furthermore, with properly harnessed foreign missions, a prior-trained local team of personnel can achieve independence and become a self-sustaining cardiac surgery unit within the shortest possible time.

The role of women in maintaining the heritage value of gastronomy in Castilla-La Mancha

The main objective of this article is to provide a feminine vision in the world of gastronomy in Castilla-La Mancha, where women have a high level of participation, and to make visible the work carried out by many professionals in all areas of this sector from work in the agri-food and wine sector, to room and kitchen work in the hospitality sector, as well as the different roles in the marketing and communication sector. It is intended to analyse the situation of women in the gastronomy sector in the broadest sense, to identify their profiles (professional and training) and their relationship with food products associated with Protected Designations of Origin and Protected Geographical Indications (PDO and PGI) and, thus, to explore the work of these women in the maintenance of the gastronomic heritage of the region and the potential of gastronomic tourism. To study this phenomenon, an investigation has been carried out in the five provinces that make up the region. A qualitative study was carried out through in-depth interviews with women running a PDO or PGI in Castilla La Mancha (10). These responses have been analysed using a textual analysis methodology with word clouds. The results show that gastronomy tourism is an opportunity to promote local economic growth and fight against depopulation in the region. In addition, gastronomy has shown itself to be an instrument capable of economically empowering women who work in the maintenance of the gastronomic identity of Castilla-La Mancha.

The evolution of stakeholder participation in European UNESCO Biosphere Reserves: challenges and opportunities of the COVID pandemic and the digital shift

ABSTRACT Stakeholder participation in European Biosphere Reserves (BRs) has been extensively studied; however, the evolution of participation at different levels and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic have been less explored. A mixed-method approach was used to investigate this evolution, including a literature review, analysis of a European longitudinal survey conducted in 2008 and 2021, case study interviews and a questionnaire to Biosphere Reserve managers. Results indicate that stakeholder participation in BRs has become more important over time, with both an increase in the number and diversity of stakeholders involved at higher levels of participation. This increase was augmented by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) during the pandemic. However, the increased use of ICTs had its challenges, such as the exclusion of certain types of stakeholders from the participatory process. Solutions, such as creating hybrid meeting arenas, are suggested to address these challenges. We conclude by providing recommendations for further enhancing our knowledge base on new forms of participation based on digital platforms.

Free to represent you and me: Gender attitudes and women's share of parliament, 1995–2021

Women are under-represented in political leadership roles, comprising only a quarter of national parliament members across the world. This is surprising, given women's comparatively high level of education and labor force participation. Why has women's political leadership lagged behind other indicators of gender equality? In this study, we revisit the importance of gender attitudes and examine the extent to which they shape women's share of parliament. Prior studies either examine gender attitudes by relying on cross-sectional research designs with small samples or adopt proxy measures that serve as crude indicators of gender ideology. We overcome these limitations by directly measuring gender attitudes from the World Values Survey and European Values Study, while adopting a panel design with a larger sample of countries and a more comprehensive set of controls. Drawing from our dataset of 275 observations across 101 countries during the 1995–2021 period, we find that our attitudinal measure, gender egalitarianism, wipes away most of the observed differences in women's share of parliament between world regions. Moreover, when we add two-way fixed effects, we find that a one-unit increase in a country's gender egalitarianism score is associated with an increase in women's parliament share by about four or five percentage points. Finally, we address concerns about endogeneity by replicating our results using two-stage least squares models with fixed effects. Overall, our findings suggest that gender ideology helps account for the growing success and persistent obstacles faced by women political candidates across the world.

Health Vocational High School is a place of education where students study. Busy student activities can sometimes reduce students' knowledge regarding the use of natural materials. The method applied in community service activities is providing counseling and education in the form of lectures and questions and answers directly by practicing making pomade cosmetics. Students' lack of knowledge regarding the use of natural ingredients from meniran leaves (Phyllanthus niruri L) as the main ingredient in natural pomade cosmetics which functions as a hair growth stimulant. For this reason, students are given education and understanding about the formulation of meniran leaf extract pomade preparations. The aim of holding service activities for students is "Introducing Local Plants for Cosmetics to Gen Z: Education on the Formulation of Meniran Leaf Extract Pomade Preparations as a Hair Growth Stimulator". To provide knowledge and understanding to Dewantara Husada Health Vocational School students regarding the introduction of local plants for cosmetics in the formulation of meniran leaf extract pomade as a hair growth stimulant. The conclusion of this PKM activity was carried out using the lecture and question and answer method, and practice. Based on the high level of participation in this PKM activity, it was classified as very good, participants in the question and answer session were considered to have a special interest in the material

ASSESSMENT OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS INFLUENCING FARMERS PARTICIPATION LEVEL IN COMMUNITY BASED EXTENSION ORGANIZATION IN KADUNA STATE, NIGERIA

The study investigated the socio-economic factors influencing farmers' participation level in community-based extension organizations in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Four hundred and thirty-seven (437) Community Based Extension Organizations (CBEOs) participants and non-participants were selected using multi-stage sampling technique. Data for the study were analysed using descriptive (frequency, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics. The results showed that both categories of respondents had crop farming as their primary occupation with the participants into full-time farming while the non-participants were into part-time farming. The mean farm size of participants and non-participants was 3 and 2 ha. respectively. Several roles like provision of credit/loans, building capacity through training of farmers, were carried out by the various groups and a high level of participation in the CBEOs was observed among CBEOs group members. A difference (N119,908.467) in average annual income was observed between the CBEOs members and non-members and this was in favour of farmer participants of CBEOs. Multiple regression analysis revealed that significant variables to farmers level of participation in the CBEOs include: farming status, farm size, farming experience and farmers' income level. The study recommended that there is need for the leaders of the various CBEOs and others saddled with the responsibilities of training farmers in the groups to train the farmers more in other to develop capacity on farming skills and the need to adopt innovations, other modern farm practices and participate actively in CBEOs.

Leseng Community Political Participation in the 2020 Regional Elections Based on Education Level

Leseng Village is one of the villages with the third highest level of participation in the Moyo Hulu sub-district, with a total vote reaching 89.65%. In addition, the level of education in Leseng village is also a village with quite advanced education. Education and political participation are two related things. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the influence of education level on people's political participation in the 2020 Sumbawa regional elections and to find out other factors that influence people's political participation in Leseng Village in the 2020 Sumbawa regional elections. This research uses quantitative methods with data collection techniques using a questionnaire (questionnaire). From the research that has been done, there is a significant influence of education on political participation. Then there are several other factors that influence the political participation of the Leseng village community, namely: self-factors, environmental/family factors, stimulation/lure factors, social sensitivity factors, and approach factors taken by pason/timses with the community.

Learner Reactions and In-Class Engagement in Team-Based Learning Implemented in Nursing Education

Background: There is a need for training strategies and programs to enable students to actively participate in their learning process by using critical thinking and decision-making skills. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the traditional lecture-based teaching with the team-based learning method in terms of student satisfaction and in-class learner engagement. Method: This study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design. The population of the research consisted of first-year nursing students (n = 101). During half of the 16-hour course conducted by the researcher, team-based learning was used as the teaching method (intervention group, n=30), and lecture-based (control group, n=59) approach was employed for the remaining 8 hours. The in-class engagement measure was used to assess the in-class engagement of the students. A feedback form composed of five parts was made available to learners in order to reveal their reactions. Results: In-class learner engagement scores and the number of questions asked both by the instructors and students were found to be higher in team-based learning sessions. In four basic feedback areas (preliminary preparation and readiness, discussion, teacher, and general), there was a statistically significant difference between the satisfaction scores of the students in favour of team-based learning. Satisfaction scores regarding the organization, infrastructure, and resources did not differ between team-based learning and lecture-based method. Conclusion: The results have indicated that Team-Based Learning is an effective method for student satisfaction and in-class engagement. The high level of student participation in the lessons conducted with Team-Based Learning is compatible with the nature of method. The findings of the study have also shown that students are open to new methods and prefer learner-centered approaches that support in-class engagement.

Development and feasibility of an exercise therapy intervention for older women with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer referred to neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to possible interval debulking surgery

ObjectiveThis study describes the development and examines the feasibility of an exercise therapy program for women aged 70 years or older with advanced EOC, receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) before possible major surgery. MethodsIn this feasibility study, patients participated in a mainly home-based exercise therapy program, including progressive resistance training, physical activity, and support from the supervising physiotherapist. The program included both supervised virtual and face-to-face sessions and self-administered daily exercise. Clinician-reported, patient-reported and physical performance measures were collected before and after NACT. Retention, adherence, and compliance to the program was monitored, and patient acceptability was explored in semi-structured interviews. ResultsFifteen patients, median age of 77 years (range 70–85) completed the exercise therapy program concurrently to receiving NACT lasting a median of 12 weeks. Patients were physically frail at baseline but improved at follow-up on measures of performance status, level of frailty, patient-reported physical fitness, lower body strength, aerobic functional capacity, basic mobility, balance, and number of steps per day. High levels of participation were found to both supervised and self-administered exercise. Patient interviews highlighted the homebased setting, the individualised tailoring of exercises and the support from the physiotherapist as reasons to complete the exercise therapy program as prescribed. ConclusionsThe exercise therapy program was found to be feasible and acceptable in women aged 70 years or older with advanced EOC, receiving NACT before possible major surgery. The observed improvements and the positive experiences perceived by the patients support future application in research and clinical practice.

LIVELIHOOD SECURITY OF SCHEDULED CASTE FARMERS THROUGH INTEGRATED FARMING SYSTEM

The study was conducted in purposively selected Chickballapura district, a total sample of 271 respondents was purposively selected for the study. Data was collected by using structured pre-tested interview schedule and analyzed using appropriate statistical tools. The results indicated that, majority of the respondents belonged to medium level of education, cropping pattern, livestock possession, mass media exposure, extension participation, training undergone and access to resources followed by high level of social participation, management orientation, level of aspiration, participation in development program and willingness towards IFS and low level of cosmpoliteness, innovativeness, scientific orientation and access to extension personnel. It was observed that livelihood security of respondents in highly satisfied category increased to 35.79 per cent from 27.31 per cent after implementation of the project. Out of seven dimensions, employment security increased by 39.35 per cent, living amenities increased by 30.82 per cent, coping strategies against stress increased by 30.75 per cent, ecological security increased by 30.00 percent, economic efficiency increased by 28.95 per cent, assets increased by 25.71 per cent and social equitability increased by 24.41 per cent. Overall scores of livelihood security indicated 30.23 per cent increase after implementation of project. The average gross income of Rs.1,03,264 from both crop and livestock enterprises of IFS against Rs.6,956 before implementation of the project. In total they could realize about Rs.70,300 net profit by adopting intercropping and livestock components in IFS. As such, for every one rupee invested under IFS they got 3.13 rupee income. Hence, the concerned development departments should organize the demonstrations, trainings, field days, exposure visits etc., to educate the farmers about IFS. The positive and significantly related characteristics needs to be considered while selecting the farmers for the extension educational programmes in order to enhance their livelihood security.

Participation of rural youths in dairy management practices

The present investigation on “Participation of rural youths in dairy management practices” was conducted in Chandur railway taluka of Amravati district. Taluka has been selected as it has a large number of dairy farmers.The exploratory research design was used in the present investigation. The present study was carried out in the Amravati district of the Vidarbha region to know the participation of rural youths in dairy management practices.The study revealed that the majority of respondents i.e. 40.83 percent were educated upto high school. It was observed that the majority of that maximum of 31.67 per cent of the respondents have semi-medium land holding, 63.33 per cent belonged to nuclear family, 35.00 per cent of the respondents had annual family income Rs. 100,001-150,000. The majority of respondents i.e. 45.83 per cent had high level of social participation, 50.00 per cent had medium family size. The majority i.e.71.67 per cent had medium level of sources of information and 55.00 per cent had medium herd size. In case of overall participation, majority i.e. 43.34 per cent of the respondents have high level of overall participation while 38.33 per cent have medium level of overall participation while 18.33 per cent of the respondents were having low level of overall participation.The independent variables like social participation and sources of information found a positive and significant level of probability of 0.01 per cent level with participation and another independent variables viz., education, land holding, annual family income, size of family and herd size found a positive and significant level of probability of 0.05 per cent level with participation. And the remaining variable type of family showed non-significant relationship with the participation of rural youths in dairy management practices.

Social Network Analysis: Understanding User Behavior in Threads

The presence of threads has enhanced users' ability to share stories, information and views in greater detail and effectively in the online world. Social media platforms allow users to interact, share content, and connect online. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to create a Social Network Analysis (SNA) network visualization and categorize the data to contribute to the understanding of user interaction on this platform. The research method in this study is the Social Network Analysis (SNA) approach to analyze the relationship between individuals in social networks.
