Web-Quest as a Means of Developing Flexible Skills of Future Lecturers in a Higher Educational Institution

The purpose of the study is a scientific justification and experimental verification of the effectiveness of using web-quest technology in the process of forming flexible skills of future lecturers in a higher educational institution.Rapid socio-economic development, informatization of all spheres of human activity determine the need for appropriate changes in the education system. Today, a modern lecturer requires not only basic psychological and pedagogical knowledge and skills, but also communication skills, responsibility, the ability to work in a team, resolve conflicts, and think critically and other flexible skills responsible for efficiency and high productivity, contributing to professional development and self-realization. In this regard, education in higher educational institutions should focus not only on the development of professional special skills (hard skills), but also on the formation of flexible skills (soft skills), since they are universal, updated over time and become increasingly important in the professional activity of a lecturer. There are quite a lot of technologies that contribute to the formation of flexible skills of students, one of which is the innovative technology of the web-quest, which, thanks to its unique form, content, teaching and control methods, structured information content, seems to be as effective as possible. Thus, the problem of purposeful formation of flexible skills among future lecturers, the search for the necessary mechanisms and resources for this, and the study of the potential of the web-quest determine the relevance of the research.Materials and methods: in the course of the study, methods of studying and analyzing psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature were used, summarizing the experience of using web-quests in the educational process of the university. The methodological basis of the study was a set of approaches: personality-oriented, systemic, activity-based, competence-based, interdisciplinary and reflective. Results: the author’s definitions of the concepts “flexible skills of future lecturer” and “web-quest” are presented, the flexible skills of a modern lecturer are characterized, the specifics, structure and methodology of conducting a web-quest, its impact on the purposeful formation of flexible skills are described in detail, an example of a web-quest “The essence of professional competence of a lecturer”, developed and tested in the work with students, is given of the training area 44.03.01 Pedagogical education.The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that its results, as well as the content and information resources of the proposed web-quest, can be used in the practice of higher pedagogical education.

Analysis of the prevalence and structure of dental morbidity among applicants to the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov

AIM: To determine the qualitative structure of dental diseases and pathological conditions of the maxillofacial region and the level of their prevalence among young individuals entering higher military educational institutions in Russia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data obtained during the dental examination of applicants to the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov as part of a military medical examination to provide admission to a higher educational institution was comprehensively analyzed. RESULTS: The results showed a moderately high level of prevalence of diseases and pathological conditions of the oral cavity in the surveyed population. Among 589 applicants aged 16–25 years who arrived from different regions in Russia, the percentage of those in need of oral sanitation was 51.95%. The most common nosological form among the examined young people was dental caries, including recurrent and secondary forms, which ranged from 19 to 44% in various groups of examined people. Additionally, a low level of oral hygiene was identified, noted in more than 45% of applicants. CONCLUSION: The peculiarities of the obtained research results should be explained by unsatisfactory knowledge and skills in matters of individual oral hygiene (hereinafter referred to as IHPR), insufficient medical education, low level of compliance, and readiness to carry out activities to maintain dental health among young people.

Islamic Revivalism in Post-normal Times: the Obstruction of More Disenchantment of Islam Throughout Ziauddin Sardar’s Whitewashed Approach Towards Evolution of Integration from Islamization of Knowledge in Higher Education of Muslim Societies

In post-normal times along with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), human society around the world is often considered in the state of contradictory, complex, and chaotic in nature. For Ziauddin Sardar, Muslim societies are living within post-normal times now. Muslims need to deal with so many complex problems of societies. As world citizens, Muslims must contribute to face challenges with all the people of the world hand in hand. Islamic teaching of Unity and Universal brotherhood needs to be implemented when facing all the post-normal challenges. Ziauddin Sardar comes up with the solution to reform in higher educational institutions in Muslim societies. The revivalist movement in higher education in Muslim societies is called ‘Integration of Knowledge’ which is alternative Islamic Revivalism in replace of ‘Islamization of Knowledge’. In the age of Globalization, Sardar urges Muslims to abandon Islamization agenda which is ‘US vs Them’ as Huntington emphasized being the representative of West. Instead, Sardar calls Muslims to embrace Integration of Knowledge agenda as a Cosmopolitan way of Islamic Revivalism. He proposes debate and discussion culture in higher education with all categories of people. This article uses qualitative methodology in which content analysis is adopted. This research finds that Sardar’s approach of Integration of knowledge is effective and beneficial to work with different background of people. However, the more disenchantment of Islam through evolution of Integration from Islamization is visible in Sardar’s approach for higher educational institution in Muslim societies

Assessment of English for Banking and Finance Program at Faculty of Foreign Languages, Banking Academy of Vietnam - from the students’ perspective

Nowadays, the program assessment has become a necessary and impor tant activity at every higher educational institution to collect opinions from relevant parties such as employers, experts, lecturers, students... for contin uous improvement. It’s not an exception for Faculty of Foreign Languages, Banking Academy of Vietnam (BAV). The article presents the assessment of the students from K24, 23, and 22 (alumni) on its main program in 7 aspects: (i) program objectives; (ii) program content; (iii) soft skills; (iv) lecturers and teaching activities; (v)students’ learning outcome assessment; (vi) materials and facilities for learning; (vii) consultancy and supports given to students. The research uses quantitative research methods to survey 7 factors and evaluate the program with a questionnaire as a research instrument sent to 241 students in 2 forms including online via google form and directly via paper survey distributed in class from March 10th to March 19th, 2024. All the factors related to lecturers, facilities, learning materials, program objec tives, and program content are of good assessments However, the criteria related to LMS, website and consultancy, supports given to students from the student affairs department still need to be further improved. Based on those findings, some recommendations have been made to improve the program for better and better training quality.

Application of mental fitness tools in the prevention of stress-associated conditions of female students of higher education establishments

Purpose: to check the effectiveness of the use of mental fitness tools for the prevention of stress-related conditions of female students of higher education establishments. Material & methods: 56 female students, average age 19.5 ± 1.5 years, participated in the study. The main group (MG) included 34 participants who, for 6 months, practiced mental fitness twice a week for 80 minutes. 22 female students who formed the control group (CG) practiced the physical education program of a higher education institution twice a week for 80 minutes during the same period. The following research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, generalization, pedagogical experiment, survey, modelling, statistical analysis using correlation analysis, comparative analysis, effect assessment method, non-linear assessment methods, model quality assessment methods. Results: the positive experience of implementing mental fitness programs into the practice of physical activity of higher education students is summarized. It was established that 71.4% of female students complain of mood swings, 60.7% – of anxiety, and 39.3% – of depressive states. After the study, 71.4% of female students indicated that their mood improved, 67.9% reported an improvement in physical condition, and 57.1% focused on reducing stress levels. It has been proven that there are statistically significant (p<0.05) correlations between the manifestations and indicators of stress-related conditions of students, the largest of which was recorded between the signs of PTSD and the indicators that determine stress-related conditions. Depending on the mental fitness classes, after the study there was a statistically significant (p<0.05) reduction in PTSD symptoms, improvement in mood and well-being compared to CG students. After the study, the prevent post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) risk score for CG students was higher by 1.64 standard deviations compared to MG students. A statistically significant (p<005) logistic binary model was developed, improved and scientifically substantiated, which, based on data on well-being, allows predicting whether a student is engaged in mental fitness. It has been proven that despite its lower predictive ability compared to other developed models, it has such advantages as statistically significant coefficients (p < 0.05), the ability to predict whether a student is engaged in mental fitness with 88.2% accuracy using only data on well-being, retention high prognostic ability with a significant simplification of the model. This shows that the developed model is the best choice for practical application. Conclusions: it is advisable to introduce mental fitness tools into the practice of health-recreational motor activity of female students in order to improve mood, work capacity and well-being, and, as a result, PTSD.

Diversity and status of butterfly fauna at Kurukshetra University campus, Haryana, India

Campuses of educational institutions in India serve as important reservoirs for different faunal components, including ecologically sensitive species like butterflies. To record the diversity, status, and occurrence of butterfly fauna in Kurukshetra University Campus, Haryana, a year-long survey was done from July 2021 to June 2022. A total of 710 individuals of butterflies belonging to 39 species, 32 genera, and five families were recorded. Nymphalidae represented the highest diversity with 13 species followed by Lycaenidae (11 species), Pieridae (10 species), Papilionidae (3 species), and Hesperiidae (2 species). The number of individuals encountered was maximum in family Pieridae (n = 158) while the minimum was in family Hesperiidae (n = 4). Species richness, abundance, and diversity differed significantly (P <0.05) across the different seasons. Species richness was recorded to be the highest in summer season (35 species) followed by monsoon, post monsoon, and winter. Among the recorded species, one species, i.e., Common Baron Euthelia aconthea is protected under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Act (2022). The findings of the present study support the importance of the higher educational institution campuses in providing valuable habitat and resources for butterflies.

A Brief Report on the Research Regarding Incorporation of Authentic Art History Texts (19th – First Half of the 20th Century) into Foreign Language Teaching (Courses: “Foreign Language” and “English for Professional Communication”) Carried out at Sergey Andriaka Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts

The scientific and methodological article focuses on authentic art history texts spanning from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century. These texts serve as the foundation for the English teaching methodology tailored for students of Sergey Andriaka Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts, an approach currently being developed by the author. The research is characterized by a certain degree of scientific novelty, as the majority of these texts are introduced into the educational curriculum of a higher art educational institution for the first time, thereby lending special relevance to the study.For a variety of reasons, the texts in question are of paramount importance for English language instruction. They offer a rich array of source materials to choose from. These include, among others: lectures on painting and sculpture, art masterclasses, catalogues of museum and private collections, artist biographies, academic journals, encyclopedias and dictionaries of painters. Original teaching materials are created on the basis of authentic texts in line with the educational needs of art students.

Assessment on the Outreach Activities Delivered to an Adopted School by a Higher Educational Institution: Basis for Plan of Action

The research assessed and evaluated the impact of the extension programs and activities rendered by the University of Baguio in Alejo M. Pacalso Memorial National High School for the past four years in order to develop a systematic plan of action for the improvement of UB’s extension programs with its Adopted community. The study employed a mixed-method approach using a sequential explanatory design. The study utilized questionnaires that were administered to the teachers, staff, and students who have benefited from the activities conducted by the University of Baguio from 2019 to the present. Moreover, an interview was conducted with the Extension and Community Outreach Coordinators to validate the results gathered from the questionnaire survey. The findings in the study highlighted the significance of the implemented services in AMPMNHS, as evidenced by the high levels of satisfaction rating of the teachers and the learners and their perceived importance of the programs. Thus, the researchers made a recommendation that the program implementers should have a periodic evaluation to assess the effectiveness of every program being implemented. Further, the University of Baguio should provide continuous training and capacity-building opportunities for teachers and staff to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to execute the services and handle unforeseen challenges effectively.

Didactic conditions for improving demonstration experiments in physics in pedagogical universities

Relevance. The relevance of the research is conditioned upon the problems of improving the methodological foundations of teaching physics in the format of a visual experiment for the sustainable development of the educational process in a pedagogical higher educational institution. Purpose. The purpose of the study is to develop a model for conducting demonstration experiments on the subject of physics using computer technology in pedagogical universities. Methodology. The leading method to investigate this problem is testing developed by M.I. Lukyanova and N.V. Kalinina's "Methodology for studying the motivation of students' learning". Results. For more successful assimilation and understanding of practical material within the subject of physics, a model for organising practical experiments considering environmental orientation was developed. It includes a demonstration of a multi-level process with didactic conditions, such as starting from the final version in its practical application of a physical phenomenon or a set of mechanisms. The process gradually deepens knowledge, beginning from the mechanical work of the object made to a detailed examination of each chain of its operations. This is accompanied by explanations at the level of physical formulas and regularities. Conclusions. The study showed that the developed model enhances learning experiences in physics. It emphasizes practical experiments visible through computer simulations, fostering intellectual development and environmental conservation awareness. This model enhances both the educational process and practical applications in physics, benefiting teachers, physicists, and educators alike. FORMATION OF FUTURE MANAGERS' PROFESSIONAL STRESS RESISTANCE AS A CONDITION FOR THEIR COMPETITIVENESS

The article is devoted to the issue of formation of professional stress resistance of managers in terms of their competitiveness. The state of research in scientific sources on the issue of managers’ professional stress resistance is analyzed and the necessity of targeted influence to level up the future managers’ professional stress resistance at the stage of master’s training in a higher educational institution is substantiated. The study's purpose: to clarify the essence of professional stress resistance, to develop a comprehensive program for its formation in future managers, and determine the content, directions, and ways of its implementation at the stage of master's training. The results of a diagnostic study using the developed questionnaire and the SACS-strategy and coping behavior model (S. Hobfoll) are presented. A comprehensive program for the formation of future managers’ professional stress resistance is created. Ways of its implementation at the stage of master’s training in a higher educational institution are outlined. This program provides for the search and activation of stress resistance resources, the formation of constructive coping strategies in management activities, the development of assertiveness, and the harmonization of the personality of future managers. The ways of implementing a comprehensive program for the formation of professional stress resistance of future managers are identified: educational activities (lectures, practical classes, independent work), individual consultative and methodological work, participation in training groups, independent and research work, participation in volunteer activities/volunteer educational projects, non-formal education of master's students. The role of anti-stress training in increasing professional stress resistance is revealed.

STRUCTURAL-FUNCTIONAL MODEL OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE FORMATION OF FUTURE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT OF HMEI

The article updates the problem of the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers in the information and educational environment of a higher military educational institution, substantiates the theoretical foundations of professional training of future officers. The need to protect the territorial integrity of our state was analyzed, which determined the importance of the challenges posed to the transformation of military education into the professional training of Ukrainian officers. It is noted that one of the directions of the development of an effective system of military education, with the aim of gaining full membership of Ukraine in NATO, is the modernization of the officer training system, strengthening the integrity of the professional training of military specialists. It has been observed that military-professional education in accordance with the principles of the military doctrine of the state, target instructions of military policy and science, state educational standards, within which the professional training of future military intelligence officers is carried out, is based on the educational-professional program, the modern model of training competent specialists taking into account the methods preparation of NATO member countries. It has been found that the social order of society to ensure the interests of national security and defense of the state for the training of military specialists in higher military educational institutions, in accordance with modern requirements, determines the important problem of forming the professional competence of future military intelligence officers and the development of a structural and functional model of such a process in conditions of the informational and educational environment. It was found that modeling allows to analyze the real content, establish goals, highlight the main components of the structure, essential features, relationships, graphically display the functional specificity and determine the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers. A structural-functional model for the formation of professional competence of future military intelligence officers in the information and educational environment of higher military educational institutions has been developed, which contains blocks: conceptual-target (social order, goal, task, conceptual and methodological approaches, principles, functions), procedural- technological (informational and educational environment at higher military educational institutions, organizational and pedagogical conditions, stages, components, methods, forms, means, technologies, educational disciplines), effective (criteria, level indicators, result).

The effectiveness of using mobile applications for studying in non-language specialties at higher education institutions

Using mobile apps for learning professionally oriented English is highly topical and widely recognized as an effective and convenient method for language acquisition. Mobile apps provide a range of benefits that contribute to their popularity among undergraduates. The key reasons why using mobile apps for learning English is considered topical: accessibility, convenience, interactive and engaging content, personalized learning, variety of learning materials, social and community features, progress tracking. So, the aim of the paper is to study the effectiveness of mobile applications for learning professional English during the study at higher education institutions in Ukraine. Instruments of data collection used were analysis of scientific sources, questionnaires, interviews, and focused group discussion. The results of questionnaires and interviews prove the need to use mobile apps for developing the level of English by students of higher education institutions. Searching the problem provide the opportunities to determine the most used mobile apps for studying English and describe their advantages in the process of learning English in non-linguistic specialties. The process of learning English at higher education establishments aimed at using mobile apps proved the effectiveness of such process because of increasing English level of Ukrainian higher education students.

КОУЧИНГОВИЙ ПІДХІД ДО ФОРМУВАННЯ ЛІДЕРСЬКИХ ЯКОСТЕЙ МАЙБУТНІХ ОФІЦЕРІВ

The purpose of the article is to substantiate a coaching approach that ensures the effectiveness of developing leadership skills of future officers and to provide practical recommendations on the example “peer-to-peer” leadership training in higher military educational institution. The article substantiates that the coaching approach of the leadership skills formation of future officers begins with the establishment and development of relationships between cadets and instructors before providing relevant content that agrees with the stage of leadership development, learning and experience of cadets. The implementation of the coaching approach covers all areas of learning (cognitive, reflective and behavioral) through numerous forms of learning (training, role-playing, simulation games) contributing to carefully organized environment and space conductive to learning. Cadets should see the benefits of the leadership development program contributing to their personal growth. It is established that the purpose of the coaching approach is to create a positive experience for future officers. The result of the coaching approach to training is cognitive growth, development of leadership skills and sustainable behavioral change of future officers. The coaching approach is proven to be based on connection rather than content to build trust and strengthen the social structure between participants. This is done through reflection and building reflective connections that allow sharing and discussing difficult situations. It is summarized that the coaching approach offers a new perspective on leadership development by eliminating the shortcomings of traditional approaches and justifies the emergence of leadership development training programs. The coaching approach puts less emphasis on formal teaching and instead uses discussion, situation solving and emotional storytelling. Future officers develop and apply new knowledge and skills together with instructors and fellow students, developing relationships between them and creating a positive learning environment. The peculiarities of the coaching approach are considered on the example of “peer-to-peer” leadership training. Students' Perspective on Freedom of Expression and Hate Speech in Albanian Universities

This article presents an analysis of the perspective of university students in Albania toward freedom of expression and hate speech within the academic environment. This study confidently investigates Albanian university students’ attitudes and perceptions towards freedom of expression, its significance in academic institutions, and its relationship with principles of equality and non-discrimination. Based on survey data collected from 622 participants, the study examines student’s attitudes toward the freedom of expression and hate speech. Study results strongly support previous research that highlights the significance of freedom of expression for young people in high educational institutions. The high level of participant agreement on the importance of freedom of expression in this study provides further evidence of the universal recognition of this fundamental right. The study contributes valuable insights to the discourse on freedom of expression and its implications for fostering inclusive and respectful academic environments in Albania. Sociological analysis of military education in Kazakhstan

Relevance. High-quality military education, which guarantees the creation of effective armed forces capable of repelling threats to national security, is one of the main factors in determining the strength and influence of a state in the international arena. Purpose. The purpose of the study was to determine the features and specifics of military education in Kazakhstan by studying the activities of military educational institutions and departments in large cities of the country. Methodology. The study used system-analytical method, with the help of which it became possible to consider the basic characteristics of the military education system in Kazakhstan; and the historical method, facilitating the analysis of the process of training in military specialities over time. Results. The determining factors and prerequisites for the formation and development of the independent armed forces of the Republics of Kazakhstan were identified and the state's military education system was characterized at all levels, from school to postgraduate education and advanced training courses. Key points in the processes of transformation of state military education were identified, in particular regarding the reorganization of a number of higher military institutions and the creation of a state higher educational institution � National University of Defence of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan � Elbasy. The effectiveness of the military sector was measured using qualitative and quantitative indicators. Additionally, the main military specialities and faculties offered in higher educational institutions in major cities were listed. Conclusions. This study covered the main directions, issues, tasks, and methods of the educational process in Kazakh military universities. It also examined the development of military education in Turkey and Russia, identifying key factors affecting their educational systems. The findings and conclusions can serve as a practical foundation for enhancing national programs to train military specialists in Kazakhstan and other countries. Psychological benefits of game practice in higher education settings: from stress to happiness

Introduction. Teaching/learning and professional work at higher educational establishments, being an intellectually and emotionally intense activity, provokes stress in teachers and students, which has a negative impact on their health: fear, anxiety, fatigue, irritability, and nervousness. Game practice is the most effective method to relieve emotional tension and activate the educational process within the framework of students’ and teachers’ successful cooperation through communication. The purpose of the article was to assess the influence of game practice on the psychological state of teachers and students at higher school, as well as the levels of stress and happiness. Materials and methods. The study involved 69 university teachers (89% women, 19% men) from 29 regions of Russia and 176 students (51% males, 49% females) in the first-year undergraduate course at Volgograd State Technical University (Russian Federation). The study was carried out using a Google Forms survey. Results. The present study did not find any significant relationship between the manifestation of stress and the use of the game practice in the teaching process at higher educational establishments, which proved to be an unexpected result, since the lecturers (49%) and students (56%) recognised that game practice reduced their stress levels. However, the analysis of the revealed results showed that most of the students were affected by academicrelated stress: 46% of the respondents had high stress level, 34% – moderate stress level, and 20% – mild stress level. The stress level in the teachers’ professional activity also revealed a high rate – 52% of the respondents answered that they experienced professional stress quite often. At the same time, psychological well-being within the framework of game technologies had the following indicators: 54% of the teachers felt quite happy, 29% – absolutely happy. As to the students, they reported a middling indicator of happiness (46%). Conclusion. Game practice is a modern learning tool used at higher educational establishments, which improves the psychological well-being of students and teachers and is an effective way to combat stress and achieve increased happiness level. However, a more profound study of this subject, along with the development of due methodological recommendations, can contribute to more effective integration of game practice into the educational process and enhance the well-being of both students and teachers.

FOSTERING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN MILITARY ENGINEERING EDUCATION: INTRODUCTION OF A TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Digital tools have become integral to training military engineers, and the introduction of a technology-enhanced learning environment may improve the educational process at higher military educational institutions. This study explores the impact of digital transformations in military engineering education through a technology-enhanced learning environment. To answer the research questions, mixed methodology was used, which involved integration and data triangulation matrices. The survey included 17 experts who possess the competences to evaluate the integration of technology into the learning environment. The results showed that a positive technology-enhanced learning environment is represented through ICT-supported learning, e-learning, blended learning, and virtual learning environments. The researchers distinguished groups of digital tools used at higher military educational institutions (communication tools, content creation tools, Learning Management Systems, collaboration tools, assessment tools, simulation and modelling, and adaptive learning tools). The impact of digital tools applied for the formation of professional competence among future military engineers was evaluated. Then, the algorithm for creating and developing a positive technology-enhanced learning environment was explained as the set of systematic measures used to design and implement a learning environment that integrates technology. The measures to be taken to foster digital technologies while training future military engineers were described during the study. The outcomes can be used to improve the existing system of military engineering education at the Ukrainian military institutions and to maximize the professional training at the active military units. Factors Influencing Girl Students’ Drop Out in Higher Educational Institution

What is the link between entrepreneurial knowledge, business planning and entrepreneurial intentions? An empirical study on Indian Higher Education Institutions

PurposeThe study seeks to conduct an empirical investigation on the impact of entrepreneurship education (EE) through its components, i.e. entrepreneurial knowledge (EK) and business planning (BP) on entrepreneurial intentions (EI) in India.Design/methodology/approachAn electronic questionnaire was used to collect data from 340 engineering students and partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the collected data.FindingsThe findings revealed that EK and BP have no direct impact on EI, however, they have an indirect influence through attitude towards entrepreneurship (ATE) and perceived behavioral control (PBC), whereas subjective norms (SN) have no mediation impact on the relationships.Research limitations/implicationsThis research has been conducted on students of engineering background only, future studies can be carried out by incorporating more attitudinal and environmental determinants with larger data sizes from diverse educational streams.Practical implicationsThis study is of immense significance to policymakers and educational establishments in designing the purposefully designed EE courses that can drive the entrepreneurial intentionality of students.Originality/valueThe study adds to the paucity of research on the systematic elaboration of EE construct underlining the specific impact of EK and BP as EE dimensions on students' EI. To the best of authors' awareness, this kind of investigation has not been conducted in indian higher educational institution (HEI) context.
