Photoelectric properties of a system of polymer with conjugated bonds and electron acceptor compound

1. The presence of a photoeffect in polymers with a system of conjugation was demonstrated in an electrophotographic system, but the value of the photosensitivity is small. 2. The introduction of low-molecular electron acceptor compounds into polymers with a system of conjugation leads to an appreciable increase in the electrophotographic sensitivity. 3. For the donor polymer-acceptor polymer system, an increased photosensitivity is observed, with a simultaneous conservation of film-forming properties and thermal stability. 4. The mechanism of the chemical sensitization of the photoconductivity was studied in a heterophase system of conjugated polymer-electron acceptor compound. In such a system the process consists of sensitization of the organic semiconductor by electron acceptor compounds, adsorbed on its surface with polymer molecules.

Block Polymers and Related Heterophase Elastomers

Abstract Recently, there has been considerable interest in heterophase polymer systems which possess enhanced physical properties in the elastomeric state. These systems, with their improved properties, greatly expand the list of available engineering materials and the possibility of designing a material to perform in a given situation. It is the intention of this article to review a significant portion of the literature pertinent to the physical properties and structure of a specific heterophase system: block polymers. In this undertaking we shall first consider work dealing with the morphology of the two-phase block polymer systems and the variety of techniques used to elucidate this structure. Then the mechanical and viscoelastic properties will be examined in terms of the structural changes which occur as a result of changes in chemical composition, physical modification, and deformation history. A review of this type is important at this time to collate and summarize the large volume of literature available, particularly in view of the rapid advancement of research in the block polymer field.

The influence of electron-acceptors on the photo-conductivity of polymeric semiconductors

1. The creation of a heterophase system between the polymer with a system ofπ-conjugation and an electron acceptor leads to an increase in photoconductivity by a factor of 103–108 over the photoconductivities of the polymer and the acceptor. 2. The dependence of the photoconductivity on the wavelength in the long-wave region is determined by the absorption spectrum of the polymer.
