In this study, we examine the so-called ‘patriotic women’ by paying attention to the increasing reality of Japanese women who make conservative and right-wing claims as part of a study on the changing aspects of contemporary Japanese society. In Chapter 1, focusing on the existence of a patriotic woman, we have confirmed that first, we selected and introduced the main patriotic women’s organizations and activists, second, they emphasize personal experience that they suddenly awakened patriotism through the awakening of chance by perception of themselves as very ordinary common people, and that lastly, they have a very conservative gender perception characterized by objection over feminism and gender equality and the division of labor by gender.BR In Chapter 2, we examined the claims and activities related to ‘anti-comfort women’ at home and abroad as representative activities of patriotic women, and the contents are as follows. When they develop anti-comfort women activities, they generally have the same perception with historical revisionists about history issues or the status of contemporary Japan, and also, they emphasize that they are ‘same’ women as the comfort women. Specific activities include sending out content that denies the issue of comfort women in the international community, such as the United Nations, directly or by pressure on the Japanese government, they try to visit and persuade all over the world to stop the establishment of the girl statue, and they are in the process of hindering the registration of UNESCO memory heritage registration materials for comfort women.
