The combination of several such ingredient of herbal origin has made it possible to secure highly effective dry powder shampoo. The ingredients used in formulation of Herbal Shampoo are Ficus Religiosa leaves (Powder), Hibiscus Leaves (Powder), Reetha (Powder), Shikakai (Powder), Aloevera, then prepared by mixing with each other and evaluated for its organoleptic and physio-chemical characteristics and performance tests in terms of wetting time test, pH, solid contents, surface tension, dirt dispersion, foam Stability, and Viscosity was performed. The combination of several such ingredient of herbal origin has made it possible to secure highly effective dry powder shampoo. It demonstrated good froth stability, detergency, good cleansing, small bubble size, low surface strain, and execution of good conditioning property. Formulation and Comparative Evaluation of Herbal Shampoo Powder with marketed preparation

Hair have been associated with beauty since time immemorial. A number of natural and synthetic hair cleansers are available in the market. The challenges associated with hair and scalp health are increasing day by day. Aside from the fast life, stress, dietary issues; the increasing temperature, dust, pollution, erratic climate changes, the sulphates and parabens included in synthetic hair cleansers and conditioners are majorly responsible for deterioration of hair strands and scalp. The aim of the current work was to combine trichologically beneficial herbal ingredients and prepare a formulation that would serve for conditioning and cleaning the hair and scalp effectively. Three herbal hair shampoo powder formulations containing the same ingredients in varying proportions were prepared and evaluated for their physicochemical and stability parameters. The formulation F1 showed better results when evaluated for the physicochemical and stability parameters as compared to formulations F2 and F3.

Unlocking the Potential: A Comprehensive Analysis of the Technological Properties and Consumer Perception of Shampoo Enriched with Patchouli Extract and Allantoin

Amidst a growing shift towards eco-friendly choices in personal care products, the challenge of formulating herbal shampoos with efficacy comparable to synthetic counterparts persists. This study investigates the potential of incorporating patchouli extract and allantoin as additives in anti-dandruff shampoo formulations, assessing their impact on the technological properties of the product. With limited research on their efficacy, our investigation contributes valuable insights to the development of effective and consumer-friendly shampoos targeting dandruff concerns. Physicochemical characteristics (pH, surface tension, texture) were evaluated, alongside specific quality assessments such as wetting time, dirt dispersion, foaming, and cleaning action, in in vivo consumer research. Shampoo formulations incorporating 0.5% Patchoul’Up™ and 1% allantoin exhibited acceptable properties. However, the addition of plant-derived ingredients resulted in a beneficial decrease in surface tension (5.87%). Nevertheless, a decrease in cohesiveness (18%) over a 5-month period resulted in rheological changes, indicating potential instability (p < 0.05). While the consumer evaluation aligns with laboratory findings, continuous research is essential to ensure stability and validate the anti-dandruff potential of the formulation, both in vitro and in vivo. This involves expanding the number of volunteers, with a specific focus on individuals experiencing dandruff concerns, to assess the shampoo’s efficacy and impact on diverse user experiences.

The main objective of the study was to prepare herbal shampoo incorporating the herbal constituent base and evaluate the herbal shampoo for cosmetic purposes.

Pharmaceutical Evaluation and Comparison of Popular Herbal Shampoo Brands with Synthetic Shampoo Brands of India

The most popular type of hair care is shampooing. Shampoos are basically hair and scalp washing agents. There are numerous shampoo brands on the market that cater to various hair issues. One such categorization is herbal and synthetic shampoos where former claim to be prepared from natural ingredients and more safer for human use while latter are prepared entirely from range of synthetic chemicals/compounds and sometimes assumed to show allergic reaction or side effects on hair and scalp in long run usage. This study intends to assess specific shampoos based on their physicochemical characteristics, pH measurement, percentage of solid content, cleansing performance, dirt dispersion, foaming ability and foam persistence, and skin irritancy. These parameters were selected to cover evaluation of visual appearance, efficacy as well as safety issues related to herbal and synthetic class and how far they justify their claims. Six shampoo brands from each category i.e. Patanjali’s Keshkanti, Vatika, Chik hair solutions from herbal category and Clinic Plus, Dove, Sunsilk from synthetic category were procured from market and evaluated for above said tests. All shampoos were found to perform well in most tests with some surpassing others in one or another factor with mild variation. But since none particular test be considered more important than other hence giving a composite score to shampoos based on all tests is impossible. Overall, all shampoos of both categories were found to contain each ingredient within specified limit and none showed skin irritancy hence could be considered safe.

The evaluation test has been performed like organoleptic, wetting time test, physicochemical pH, detergency, dirt dispersion, stability have been accomplished. The main aim of this study was to remove harmful synthetic ingredient from antidandruff shampoo formulation and replace them with natural ingredients.

A Review on Herbal Shampoo and Its Evaluation

Shampooing is the most common form of hair treatment. Shampoos are primarily been products aimed at cleansing the hair and scalp. In the present scenario, it seems improbable that herbal shampoo, although better in performance and safer than the synthetic ones, will be popular with the consumers. A more radical approach in popularizing Harbal shampoo would be to change the consumers' expectations from a shampoo, with emphasis on safety and efficacy. The present paper emphasizes on composition, types, methods of evaluation, also a brief review on herbal shampoo formulations Formulating a pure herbal shampoo and assessing and contrasting its physicochemical properties with commercially available synthetic and herbal shampoos were the goals of the study. From this review it conclude that the extracts of Acacia concinna, Sapindus mukorossi, Phyllanthus emblica, Ziziphus spina-christi, and Citrus aurantifolia will be added in varying amounts to a 10% aqueous gelatin solution to create the herbal shampoo. Also as a preservative, a small amount of methyl paraben will be added, and citric acid used to adjust the pH.

Background: Now-a-days many synthetic, herbal, medicated and non - medicated shampoos are available in the market but popularity of herbal shampoo among consumers is on rise because of their belief that these products being of natural origin are safe and free from side effects. Aim: The present study is aimed to formulate and evaluate the polyherbal shampoo in comparison with commercial shampoo. Preparation of herbal shampoo: To formulate a clear shampoo base, three samples, designated as F1, F2 and F3 were prepared by using Solanum Pubescens leaves, Achyranthus aspera roots as main ingredients. Results: The formulation F3 and dove have good foaming ability. No significant difference was observed in terms of odor and foaming ability between F3 Dove. The pH of F1, F2 and F3 was found to be 5.0, 5.4, and 6.2. The percent solid contents of F1, F2 and F3 and dove was found within the range of 22 to 25%. Viscosity of F1, F2 and F3 and dove was found to be 60, 61, 65 and 67 cps. F1, F2 and F3 and Dove showed similar reduction in surface tension ranging from 31.00 to 39.00 dyn/cm. The wetting time of F1, F2 and F3 and dove was found to be 195, 190, 178, 170 seconds. The F3 and Dove was shown foam volume as 85, 90, 98 and 110ml. Accelerated stability tests showed that no significant change over a period of time (3 months) for F3. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results showed that F3 had no significant difference in comparison to reference shampoo regarding their physicochemical properties and their Invitro evaluation.
