An individualized earth science course is presented which to some extent 1) is not age-specific, 2) is not teacher dominated, 3) does not required full-time attendance and 4) is not an obligatory curriculum even though the course existed in a school with bells, 45-minute periods and other conventional restraints of schools. The approach is particularly suited for helping students gain self-confidence in managing their time, following their own interests, using a variety of learning modes and media and utilizing peer help.
