This experiment is being carried out in the heavy liquid bubble chamber Gargamelle with a filling of freon (CF 3 Br, ρ = 1.5g/cm 3 , X 0 =11 cm). The chamber has been operated in the neutrino beam at CERN in a series of runs terminating in November 1975. The exposures carred out before 1975 had resulted in a total of 500 000 photos and one event containing a (μ¯e+V 0 ) was found and has been reported (Deden et al . (1975). In September 1975 an exposure of 70 000 pictures was made with an average p. s. intensity of 5 x 10 12 protons per pulse and in November 1975 an exposure of 160 000 pictures with an intensity of 8 x 10 12 protons per pulse. The September run is completely analysed and yielded one further event (μ¯e+V 0 ) and the analysis of the November run is in progress and so far one additional event has been found. The observation of events containing a (μ¯e+V 0 ) indicates the existence of some new phenomenon. A possible explanation is that these events arise from the production and subsequent semi-leptonic decay of some new particle, for example a charmed particle. In the charm scheme decay of the new particles into strange particles is favoured. Thus a possible production and decay chain is: v + N→µ¯ + C + X ↳e + + v e + ( S = -1 state)
