After 15 and a half years leading the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP), Executive Director Myrella Roy, B.Sc. Pharm., Pharm.D., FCCP, is wrapping up her professional career at the end of December and planning to stay nearly as busy in retirement. She spent 17 years as a hospital pharmacist and clinical manager with the Ottawa Hospital, a large university teaching hospital in Canada’s capital city, before becoming CSHP’s full-time executive. In 2012, ASHP awarded honorary membership to Roy for her sustained contributions to health-system pharmacy practice. She said last month that receiving the award from ASHP “certainly was one of my proudest moments, and I will cherish that forever.” “Dr. Roy has been a wonderful friend and colleague to ASHP for her entire career,” said ASHP Chief Executive Officer Paul W. Abramowitz. “She has done so much to advance pharmacy practice in Canada, including successfully advocating for enhanced prescribing privileges for pharmacists and leading efforts around collaborative practice and patient safety. Myrella is a true leader in our global pharmacy community, and I am confident that she will continue to contribute to efforts to advance pharmacy practice in Canada and around the world.”
