Corporate social responsibility, understood as actions from within and outside the organisation directed at searching for sustainable economic, social, and environmental operations, has become very important in health service institutions. The internal social responsibility practices are positive. They increase commitment and productivity, with a decrease in the rates of staff rotation. ObjectiveTo characterise corporate social responsibility practices associated with human resource management. MethodologyAn exploratory, descriptive study was performed using a questionnaire on the characterisation of responsible practices developed by Confecámaras. The sample consisted of 174 employees of the Hospital de San José, Bogotá D.C., Colombia. ResultsIt was observed that knowledge of corporate social responsibility practises was associated with the type of contract, and some weaknesses as regards communication to the staff on social responsibility practices that take place in the hospital. ConclusionsBetter mass communication channels, as regards the social responsibility practices of the institution, should be developed, with the direct active involvement of employees with different contracts in their follow-up and control using management indicators.
