A well-established park can contribute a lot to the physical activity and mental health of citizens by increasing the use of the park by citizens, but a poorly-established park can make users feel isolated, and furthermore, it can provide opportunities for crime and unwanted activities. Recent violent crimes in parks have raised many questions about the safety of citizens from crimes in parks. Therefore, this study conducted a study for the purpose of evaluating whether parks are safe from crime in parks in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. While previous studies introduced small samples and technical research methods, this study selected 90 parks and attempted a quantitative evaluation by introducing factor analysis methods in the evaluation method. Specifically, this study presented the 10 parks that received the lowest evaluation in the seven principles by performing factor analysis based on the evaluation criteria of the seven principles of CPTED (natural surveillance, electrical surveillance, mechanical surveillance, activity support, natural access control, and maintenance). Based on these evaluation results, this study presents various policy proposals necessary for local governments, including parks, to make parks safer from crime.
