Palynology of the North Karanpura Basin, Bihar,India- 3. Raniganj Exposure near Lungatoo, Hazaribagh District

The present paper consists of palynological investigation of a Raniganj exposure near Lungatoo, in Hazaribagh district, Bihar, India. 34 dispersed spore-pollen genera and 47 species have been recovered from the material and only the new species have been systematically described. The histograms have been drawn to show the distribution of different spore-pollen genera in the assemblage and have been compared with the other known Indian Upper Permian assemblages.

Palynology of the Karanpura Sedimentary Basin, Bihar, India -1. Barakar Stage at Badam

The present paper deals with the Palynology of the Barakar sediments exposed near the village of Badam, in Hazaribagh District of Bihar, India. The spores and pollen recovered have been referred to 42 spore genera and 60 species. Three Palynological zones have been marked on the abundance of striate bisaccate pollen and trilete spores.

Mineragraphic studies of disseminated bodies of magnetite in granite-pegmatite at Nawadiha in Hazaribagh district, Bihar

Small lumps of crystalline magnetite occur as disseminated bodies within granite-pegmatite of Archean era in Hazaribagh District, Bihar. The following opaque minerals were identified by ore microscopic studies of the polished specimens of the ores: magnetite, hematite (primary), ilmenite, maghemite, martite, goethite and pyrite. Hematite and ilmenite show exsolution relation, whereas maghemite, martite, and goethite replace magnetite in different stages of oxidation.

The Petrology of the Government Reserve Forest, Kodarma, Bihar (India)

Kodarma is one of the most important centres for the production of muscovite mica in the mica-belt of the Hazaribagh district of Bihar. The Kodarma Reserve Forest, the petrology of which is here described, begins about 2 miles north-east of Kodarma Station and extends for a further distance of about 10 miles in that direction. It occupies an area of about 57 square miles.

The Mica-Pegmatites of Kodarma, India

The mica mines of the Kodarma area in the Hazaribagh district of Bihar contribute as a single unit the largest quantity of muscovite (locally known as “Ruby mica”) to the world. The mica-pegmatites of this area have attracted the attention of geologists and mining engineers since the beginning of the last century, but still many petrological problems connected with them have not been satisfactorily solved. During recent years the present authors have studied the geology of the Government Reserve Forest of Kodarma; and they intend to discuss in this paper the origin and the characteristic features of the Kodarma pegmatites and to review the literature already existing on this subject.
