Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Literasi Dan Numerasi Pada Anak Melalui Bimbingan Belajar Di Desa Sawoo Kabupaten Ponorogo

The free tutoring community service activity at the Al-Mutaqqin Prayer Room in Sawoo Village was carried out because so far there has never been a single non-formal tutoring program in the Sawoo Village area. Elementary school age children only study formally at school and some of them get additional education through independent study at home with parental guidance. This activity aims to explore students' abilities to improve literacy and numeracy to make it even better. Participants in this tutoring service activity are all students from grade 1 to grade 6 of elementary school. Tutoring was carried out in order to familiarize and also improve literacy and numeracy learning abilities for children in the environment around Sawoo Village. The implementation of the activity was carried out in 3 stages. First, make an activity plan by first observing students' literacy and numeracy skills. Second, the implementation takes the form of free tutoring which is held 4 times a week with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. Third, evaluate and monitor activities that have been carried out. The results obtained from this free tutoring activity are an increase in students' abilities in the areas of literacy and numeracy, students are also able to solve problems in the context of daily life and are able to follow and understand the material taught in this tutoring process well.

Hubungan Bimbingan Orang Tua Terhadap Kemampuan Membaca Anak Usia 5-6 Tahun

This research analyzes the effect of parental guidance on the reading ability of children aged 5-6 years. Based on a systematic review of twelve articles, it was found that parents' active involvement in reading activities had a significant impact on children's reading abilities. Positive parenting patterns, such as democratic parenting, and the routine of reading together at home contribute greatly to the development of children's reading abilities. This research is a Systematic Review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses method or commonly called PRISMA. The research sample consisted of twelve articles published in the 2019-2024 period. The results showed that children who received intensive guidance from parents showed significant improvements in reading ability compared to children who received minimal guidance. Parents' education and economic factors also influence the effectiveness of the guidance provided. This conclusion emphasizes the important role of parents in supporting early childhood reading development through positive and supportive interactions.

Language Choices in Interracial Marriage: An Insight into Malay-Melanau Families in Sarikei, East Malaysia

This study aims to identify the language choices within interracial marriages, focusing specifically on Malay-Melanau families in Sarikei, Sarawak, East Malaysia. The primary objectives are (1) to investigate the language choices among Malay-Melanau families in Sarikei and (2) examine factors influencing their choices. A sample of 14 respondents, all hailing from Malay-Melanau backgrounds and married for over five years, was selected using purposive sampling methods. Employing a mixed-method approach, respondents completed a Google Form questionnaire comprising both open and close-ended queries. The findings underscore a prevailing inclination towards Malay as the preferred language within the household. This preference appears to be chiefly influenced by two key factors: parental guidance and immediate surroundings. Notably, the language predominantly spoken by the parents cohabiting with the couples significantly influences their linguistic selection. The study highlights the critical role of parental language choices and the immediate environment in shaping the language dynamics within these families. Additionally, it emphasizes the necessity of promoting awareness regarding language preservation, particularly the nurturing of less-dominant languages spoken within the home environment. Efforts in this direction are essential for fostering linguistic diversity and cultural vitality within mixed-ethnicity households. By understanding these dynamics, stakeholders can better support policies and initiatives that encourage the maintenance of linguistic heritage in multicultural contexts.

Attitude and Practices of Paediatric Dentists towards Parental Guidance on Dental Trauma. A cross-sectional survey.

There is a lack of sufficient information about the protocols followed by paediatric dentists in informing parents about traumatic dental injuries as a part of anticipatory guidance. Hence, the aim of this study was to assess paediatric dentists' attitudes and practices about parental guidance regarding these injuries. This was a cross-sectional survey conducted using a validated questionnaire emailed through Google form to approximately 2500 paediatric dentists in various world regions. The sampling method used was a list-based sampling frame followed by simple random sampling. Participants were recruited through national member societies of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, personal contacts and social media groups. Only paediatric dentists with at least three years of experience after their post-graduation were only included in the study. Their attitudes and practices towards parental education on dental trauma during the child's first and recalled dental visits were assessed as per their age, gender, country of post-graduation qualification and years of experience in the profession. Chi-Square test was used to evaluate the association between the paediatric dentist response and the continent of practice. Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to assess the level of significance within each variable in relation to the continent of practice. A 95% confidence interval with a significance level of α = 0.05 was used. The overall attitude and practice of paediatric dentists toward parental education on traumatic dental injuries were not satisfactory. Many paediatric dentists do not impart education on emergency care and dental trauma prevention in primary teeth. Parents should be informed about oral hygiene instructions and prevention-oriented interventions during the first visit and about managing traumatic dental injuries.

Impact of Parenting Patterns Against Early Marriage

This article explores the impact that parents' parenting styles have on the tendency for early marriage in their children. In-depth research has revealed that parents' approach to raising children can have a major influence on children's perspectives, decisions and attitudes towards marriage in the future. From a rigid authoritarian parenting style to a supportive authoritative approach, as well as a permissive parenting style that tends to be loose, this article discusses how each of these parenting styles can shape a child's view of the institution of marriage. The analysis also includes the influence of family communication, the values that instilled, as well as the level of parental involvement in the child's life regarding marriage preparations. A number of relevant studies and scientific findings will be described to support the claim that parenting styles play a crucial role in encouraging or inhibiting the tendency for early marriage. This article seeks to provide a better understanding of how parental parenting styles can form the basis of children's decisions regarding marriage. The conclusion of this article provides in-depth thoughts about efforts that can be made, both in family education and parental guidance, to form parenting patterns that support their children to make more mature marriage decisions in the future.

Evaluating the accuracy and readability of ChatGPT in providing parental guidance for adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, and ventilation tube insertion surgery

ObjectivesThis study examined the potential of ChatGPT as an accurate and readable source of information for parents seeking guidance on adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, and ventilation tube insertion surgeries (ATVtis). MethodsChatGPT was tasked with identifying the top 15 most frequently asked questions by parents on internet search engines for each of the three specific surgical procedures. We removed repeated questions from the initial set of 45. Subsequently, we asked ChatGPT to generate answers to the remaining 33 questions. Seven highly experienced otolaryngologists individually assessed the accuracy of the responses using a four-level grading scale, from completely incorrect to comprehensive. The readability of responses was determined using the Flesch Reading Ease (FRE) and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL) scores. The questions were categorized into four groups: Diagnosis and Preparation Process, Surgical Information, Risks and Complications, and Postoperative Process. Responses were then compared based on accuracy grade, FRE, and FKGL scores. ResultsSeven evaluators each assessed 33 AI-generated responses, providing a total of 231 evaluations. Among the evaluated responses, 167 (72.3 %) were classified as ‘comprehensive.’ Sixty-two responses (26.8 %) were categorized as ‘correct but inadequate,’ and two responses (0.9 %) were assessed as ‘some correct, some incorrect.’ None of the responses were adjudged ‘completely incorrect’ by any assessors. The average FRE and FGKL scores were 57.15(±10.73) and 9.95(±1.91), respectively. Upon analyzing the responses from ChatGPT, 3 (9.1 %) were at or below the sixth-grade reading level recommended by the American Medical Association (AMA). No significant differences were found between the groups regarding readability and accuracy scores (p > 0.05). ConclusionsChatGPT can provide accurate answers to questions on various topics related to ATVtis. However, ChatGPT's answers may be too complex for some readers, as they are generally written at a high school level. This is above the sixth-grade reading level recommended for patient information by the AMA. According to our study, more than three-quarters of the AI-generated responses were at or above the 10th-grade reading level, raising concerns about the ChatGPT text's readability.

This study explores literacy competence (LC) in elementary schools, emphasizing its importance while revealing its current deficiencies. The primary goal is to examine LC through the lens of the Guided Reading (GR) Model and its sociocultural influences. Using an Explanatory Sequential design as part of a mixed-method approach, the research included 200 fourth-grade students from six elementary schools, comprising 94 males and 106 females. Research tools such as pre-tests and post-tests, observations, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with students, parents, and teachers were utilized. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney nonparametric test. The study's findings reveal that the GR model effectively elevates LC from a low to medium level. Literacy comprehension advanced from a factual literal understanding to an interpretive one. However, sociocultural elements, such as book reading facilities, parental guidance, and technology use, were found to affect LC, with inappropriate technology usage having a negative impact. This research underscores the importance of meaningful teacher guidance via the GR model in developing literacy skills, emphasizing the significant role sociocultural factors play. Further investigation into the effects of technology on learning and other sociocultural factors not covered in this study is crucial.

From Nurture to Deviance: A Study on Parenting Style and Juvenile Delinquency

ABSTRACT Drawing on data and quantitative analysis from the 2019 Recidivism Survey conducted by the Ministry of Justice in China, this study unveils a significant correlation between parenting styles, parent-child relationships, and juvenile delinquency. Negative parenting practices can lead to increased anxiety or a lack of self-control, especially in scenarios characterized by inadequate parental supervision. This shortfall in self-regulation is directly associated with a surge in criminal behavior among adolescents, thereby elevating the risk of engaging in delinquent activities. Furthermore, poor parent-child relationships exacerbate the adverse effects of insufficient parental oversight on juvenile misconduct. Youths with diminished social and emotional bonds to their parents are more susceptible to diverging from societal norms and participating in delinquent behaviors. Therefore, effective intervention strategies aimed at curbing juvenile delinquency should focus on improving parental supervision and guidance while simultaneously nurturing positive parent-child relationships.

Utilization of Riasec Theory to Identify Career Personalities in Deaf Students: A Systematic Review

A career is a process that a person experiences in his life. In the end, a person must have the skills to choose a career as a determinant of life in the future. Deaf people are people who lose the ability to hear, so they inhibit the processing of information through their hearing, whether or not they are wearing hearing aids. In general, deaf children have normal and average intelligence. Effective guidance needs to be based on accurate data. Therefore, before doing therapy, it is necessary to do an assessment first, which is to assess or recognize counselling in depth in various aspects. John Holland's theory helps identify students' career personalities according to types, traits and psychological characteristics (personality). It draws on the principles of Holland's theory, which groups individuals into six personality types and corresponding work environments. This study aims to provide practical guidance for parents, educators, and career counsellors. The aim is to improve the career readiness of deaf children and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for their professional growth.

Exploring the Role of Religious Studies in Developing Moral Values among Secondary Schools Learners in the Northern Region of Lesotho

Similar to many other countries, Lesotho has experienced growing concerns regarding moral decay among youth in recent years. This concern could be attributed to various factors, such as rapid socio-economic changes, advancements in technology, and shifting societal norms. Consequently, negative consequences have arisen, including drug abuse, disrespect for constituted authority, and disengagement from academics among learners. The study therefore intents to explore the efficacy of religious studies in addressing moral erosion and developing ethical behaviour to ensure its effective implementation and impact. This study adopts the Cognitive Dissonance Theory as a framework to investigate the potential of religious studies in secondary schools as a means to develop ethical behaviour and address the increase in moral decay among learners. Through purposive sampling, six teachers from six member schools of the religious studies association in the northern region of Lesotho were selected to participate in semi-structured interviews. The findings of the study indicate that moral decay among learners is primarily influenced by factors such as poverty, lack of parental guidance, limited access to education, and dysfunctional family structures. Furthermore, the study reveals that religious studies content and various teaching approaches have the potential to cultivate moral values and counteract moral decadence among learners. The study recommends that teachers receive continuous professional development and support to enhance their pedagogical skills in effectively delivering moral education through religious studies. Moral instruction curriculum rather than religious studies curriculum should be introduced. The curriculum should accommodate all religions’ moral precepts.

Peran Orang Tua terhadap Remaja Putus Sekolah di Jorong Kapuah Nagari Sumani Kabupaten Solok

Out-of-school teenagers are teenagers who cannot continue or stop going to school before completing primary and secondary education. This is caused by special conditions experienced by teenagers, such as a lack of parental guidance in motivating them to go to school. Basically, the impact of dropping out of school is a lack of insight or knowledge possessed by teenagers, the future of teenagers is unclear. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research which describes the role of parents in teenagers dropping out of school in Jorong Kapuah Nagari Sumani, Solok Regency. In collecting data, researchers used observation and interview techniques, while to analyze it, researchers used data reduction, data presentation and data verification steps. The results of the research show that there are several roles of parents for teenagers who have dropped out of school in Jorong Kapuah Nagari Sumani, Solok Regency, namely the role of parents for teenagers who have dropped out of school, including, for teenagers who have dropped out of school, parents as mentors, for teenagers who have dropped out of school, parents as a facilitator and for teenagers who have dropped out of school, parents as motivators for teenagers who have dropped out of school in Jorong Kapuah Nagari Sumani, Solok Regency.

Challenges in the Prevention and Management of Adolescent Pregnancy and School Dropout by Adolescent Mothers in South Africa

Owing to the social, economic, health, educational and psychological implications of adolescent pregnancy, there had been many attempts to stop this phenomenon. These efforts, however, do not seem to be succeeding given its acceleration, generally in South Africa. The schooling of many adolescent girls gets disturbed by their pregnancy and others discontinue with schooling postpartum. This exacerbates South Africa’s challenges of unemployment, poverty, intergenerational illiteracy, and general societal vulnerability. The Pregnant Learner Management Policy contributed to the dropout rates as it prohibited adolescent mothers from returning to school before they had spent two years with their babies. It has since been replaced with the National Policy on the Prevention and Management of Learner Pregnancy in Schools, but reintegration remains a challenge. The pregnancy and reintegration challenges are aggravated by institutional, social, economic, cultural, and religious barriers. The pregnancies are due to several factors such as poor and inconsistent uptake of contraceptives, and inadequate parental involvement and guidance on the sexual and reproductive health education of the adolescents. The study used qualitative research techniques to delve deeper into the adolescent pregnancy and school dropout phenomenon; research participants were sampled from the three provinces with the highest number of births that were delivered by adolescents, namely KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and Eastern Cape.

Investigating The Impact of Digital Technology on Adolescent Identity Formation on Selected Students in SAIS: A Psychological Approach

Teenagers are today living in a hybrid world that connects digital spaces to offline contexts; we are amid a global shift where digital "screens" are no longer only entertainment devices yet a major distraction. Adolescence is a period of self-actualization, self- integration, and, in the current era, consistent social media performance. Conflicts in the identity vs. role confusion stage of Erik Erikson and James Marcia theory of identity statues model are addressed throughout this research. A survey, sent to Sharjah American International School high school students, explores the aftermath of the online metaverse impact on their identity development. The aim of the present study was to examine the interrelationships between adolescent media activity and identity development through studying behavioral outcomes to psychological analyze results. Participating in the study were 19 adolescents ages 13 to 19 (mean age 17). The results showed identity was however negatively associated with time spent using the network on social media and communicating. On the other hand, identity style was also positively associated with adaptive media- related cognitions, such as benefiting from the online metaverse to absorb new knowledge constantly. The results are discussed regarding practical implications and recommendations for enhancing parenting styles and guidance of adolescents.

‘Getting addicted to it and losing a lot of money… it’s just like a hole.’ A grounded theory model of how social determinants shape adolescents’ choices to not gamble

BackgroundGambling abstinence when underage lowers the risk of harmful gambling in later life. However, little research has examined why many young people refrain from gambling, even though this knowledge can inform protective strategies and lower risk factors to reduce underage gambling and subsequent harm. This study draws on the lived experience of adolescent non-gamblers to explore how social determinants while growing up have shaped their reasons and choices to not gamble.MethodsFourteen Australian non-gamblers, aged 12–17 years, participated in an in-depth individual interview (4 girls, 3 boys) or online community (4 girls, 3 boys). Questions in each condition differed, but both explored participants’ gambling-related experiences while growing up, including exposure, attitudes and behaviours of parents and peers, advertising, simulated gambling and motivations for not gambling. The analysis used adaptive grounded theory methods.ResultsThe grounded theory model identifies several reasons for not gambling, including not being interested, being below the legal gambling age, discouragement from parent and peers, concern about gambling addiction and harm, not wanting to risk money on a low chance of winning, and moral objections. These reasons were underpinned by several social determinants, including individual, parental, peer and environmental factors that can interact to deter young people from underage gambling. Key protective factors were parental role modelling and guidance, friendship groups who avoided gambling, critical thinking, rational gambling beliefs, financial literacy and having other hobbies and interests.ConclusionsChoices to not gamble emanated from multiple layers of influence, implying that multi-layered interventions, aligned with a public health response, are needed to deter underage gambling. At the environmental level, better age-gating for monetary and simulated gambling, countering cultural pressures, and less exposure to promotional gambling messages, may assist young people to resist these influences. Interventions that support parents to provide appropriate role modelling and guidance for their children are also important. Youth education could include cautionary tales from people with lived experience of gambling harm, and education to increase young people’s financial literacy, ability to recognise marketing tactics, awareness of the risks and harms of gambling, and how to resist peer and other normalising gambling influences.

Unveiling the Professional Identity of University Educators: A Qualitative Study

The formation of a university professor's identity is a complex process, which begins with academic training and evolves through professional practice. This study explores the experiences that shape the identity of university teachers, focusing on personal, social and professional perspectives. Through the qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with 10 participants with an average age of 50 years, the research revealed significant factors. It found a correlation between female gender and preference for teaching careers, as well as the substantial influence of parental guidance on career choice, driven by considerations of economic stability and familiar work environments. In terms of personal identity, the testimonies underscored the influential role of parental expectations in career decision making. Social identity was strongly influenced by family prestige and the broader social context. On the professional level, the research revealed that years of positive teaching experience contribute to the reinforcement of one's professional identity. However, it also highlighted the fluid nature of a university professor's teaching identity, subject to the fluctuations of positive and negative experiences encountered in daily practice. While these experiences can reinforce a sense of vocation and professional development, the lack of a cohesive teaching identity poses risks to the quality of educational services provided to students. This paper aims to conduct an in-depth study on the theoretical aspects of educational psychology in the field of early childhood education. Through literature review and theoretical analysis, the paper explores psychological theories in early childhood education, including children's cognitive development, emotional management, and self-concept formation. Qualitative research methods are used to summarize and analyze the theoretical foundations and practical applications of educational psychology in early childhood education. The research findings indicate that theories in educational psychology in the field of early childhood education can provide guidance for teachers and parents, promoting the holistic development of children. The conclusions of this paper have significant implications for practical application in early childhood education.

ANALYSIS OF ABDULLAH SAEED'S CONTEXTUAL INTERPRETATION IN QS. ALI IMRAN VERSE 159 CONCERNING PARENTING PATTERNS FOR CHILDREN

This study analyzes Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation of QS. Ali Imran verse 159 with a focus on parental upbringing. Abdullah Saeed, a contemporary Islamic intellectual, emphasizes the need for a contextual approach in understanding the verses of the Qur'an to make them relevant to modern conditions. QS. Ali Imran verse 159, which speaks of the Prophet Muhammad's gentle and consultative approach with his companions, is used as a basis to examine principles of wise and compassionate parenting. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach and aims to explore the relevance of the values contained in the verse to the challenges of parenting in the digital age. The results show that a contextual interpretation can provide comprehensive guidance for parents in building harmonious relationships and educating children with a gentle, wise, and consultative approach.

Understanding dyslexia guidance for parents and teachers: A review of states’ handbooks

Most U.S. states have laws related to supporting students with dyslexia, including dyslexia screening, intervention, and teacher training. Additionally, 40 states have published dyslexia handbooks that include information about defining dyslexia, screening, core instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring. This study utilized a qualitative content analysis to identify the major topics and themes included in these handbooks. Results showed that most of the handbooks included details about the intended audience, defining dyslexia, methods of assessment, types of instruction and intervention, information for parents, and additional resources. Dominant themes in the handbook content were translating research to practice, educator focus, intervention over instruction, and a lack of information related to multilingual learners. The findings suggest that the current handbooks offer consistent information about the definition and features of dyslexia but do not always include information from research-based practices to support students with dyslexia.
