Research on Financial Support Mechanism and Policy Innovation of Guangzhou Sports Industry Upgrading under the Perspective of New Quality Productivity

In the context of economic globalization and rapid development of informationization, this study thoroughly explores the financial support mechanism and policy innovation for the upgrading of the sports industry in Guangzhou City under the perspective of new quality productivity. Given the important role of the sports industry in enhancing the city image, strengthening the physical fitness of the citizens and promoting the regional economic development, the significance of the study is to reveal the key role of financial support and policy innovation in the transformation and upgrading of the sports industry, and to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the development of the sports industry in Guangzhou and even other cities. Through the methods of literature review, case analysis and comparative study, this study systematically sorted out the relevant theories, deeply analyzed the status quo, challenges and opportunities of the sports industry in Guangzhou City, and put forward the research questions on the role of financial support and policy innovation in the upgrading of the sports industry. Based on the theoretical framework constructed by the new quality productivity theory, this study proposes a series of countermeasure suggestions for financial support and policy innovation, aiming to promote the high-quality development of Guangzhou's sports industry. The key findings of the study emphasize the complementary and interactive nature of financial support and policy innovation in the upgrading of the sports industry, as well as their importance in promoting industrial innovation, enhancing industrial competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. Ultimately, this study concludes that financial support and policy innovation are indispensable dual-wheel driving forces for the upgrading of the sports industry in Guangzhou, and their effective combination will provide a solid foundation for the future development of the sports industry.

Whole-genome analysis of a ST45-SCCmec IVa (2B)-t116 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strain isolated from the sputum of a 5-year-old child with pneumonia

IntroductionMethicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) sequence type (ST) 45 is a major global MRSA lineage with huge strain diversity and a high clinical impact. In Hainan and Guangzhou of China, the ST45-MRSA was mainly associated with t116.MethodsThe MRSA strain SA2107 was isolated from the sputum of a 5-year-old child with pneumonia. The whole genome of SA2107 was sequence using Illumina (Novaseq 6000) and PacBio (Sequel IIe) sequencers, and the sequences were assembled using hybrid assembly. The carriage of antibiotic resistance genes, virulence genes, and mobile genetic elements were identified using bioinformatics tools. The comparative genomic analyses of MRSA strain SA2107 with other MRSA strains worldwide were performed.FindingsThe genome size of ST45-SCCmec IVa (2B)-t116 MRSA strain SA2107 was ~2.9 Mb. Mobile genetic elements analysis of SA2107 revealed two plasmids (30,064-bp pSA2107-1 and 8,033-bp pSA2107-2), three prophages, two integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs), and two insertion sequences (ISs, IS431 and IS1272). The SCCmec IVa (2B) carried by SA2107 contained the class B mec gene complex (IS431-mecA-ΔmecR1-IS1272) and type 2 ccr gene complex (ccrA2 and ccrB2). Besides mecA, another beta-lactam resistance gene blaZ was found to located on six copies of bla complex (blaZ, blaR1, and blaI) on the chromosome of SA2107. Three kinds of virulence factors were detected on the chromosome of SA2107, including genes encoding toxins, exoenzyme, and immune-modulating protein. Notably, the three prophages harbored by the chromosome of SA2107 all carried virulence genes.ConclusionThus far, only three complete genomes available for ST45-SCCmec IVa (2B)-t116 strain from United States, Germany, and Australia, respectively. The strain SA2107 was the first complete genome data (CP104559) from China for ST45-SCCmec IVa (2B)-t116 MRSA.

Strengths use and thriving at work among nurses: a latent profile and mediation analysis

BackgroundThe ability to thrive at work has been demonstrated to be closely linked to the development of nurses.Effective utilization of strengths and maintaining hope are essential elements for clinical nurses’ ability to flourish in their roles. Nevertheless, the relationship between strengths use, hope, and thriving at work remains underexplored. This study aimed to identify distinct subgroups of clinical nurses based on their strengths use and to examine the mediating effect of hope between strengths use and thriving at work. The findings are intended to inform clinical managers on strategies to enhance nurses’ work performance and care quality.MethodsA convenience sample of 568 clinical nurses from two tertiary hospitals in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, was recruited between January and March 2024. The survey collected sociodemographic data and included the Adult Dispositional Hope Scale, Strengths Use Scale, and Thriving at Work Scale. Potential categories of nurse strengths use characteristics were identified using potential profile analysis, and potential relationships between variables were determined using Pearson correlation analysis, Bayesian factor robustness analyses, and Mediation analysis.ResultsLPA identified three distinct groups based on strengths use: low (30.8%), moderate (64.9%), and high (13.2%).The significant mediating effect of hope in the relationship between strengths use based on latent profile analysis and thriving at work was observed (SE = 0.61,95%CI = -10.01, -7.62; SE = 0.76,95%CI = -18.91, -15.91, respectively).ConclusionsThere exists heterogeneity in nurses’ strengths use. Hope plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between strengths use and thriving at work. It is recommended that nursing administrators or leaders pay attention to differences in individual levels of strengths use, encourage strengths-based practices and design interventions that foster hope, thereby promoting greater thriving in their professional roles.

Exploring Competitive Strategies of Preschool Teacher Education Program Based on SWOT-QSPM: A Case Study of Zengcheng Vocational and Technical School in Guangzhou City

This paper employs the SWOT-QSPM (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat-Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) analytical framework to conduct a strategic study on the preschool teacher education program, taking the preschool teacher major of Zengcheng Vocational and Technical School in Guangzhou City as an example. Through in-depth interviews and qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, the current external opportunities and threats, internal strengths, and weaknesses faced by the major are assessed. Alternative strategies are proposed, and then the QSPM method is used to quantitatively evaluate these alternative strategies. It is concluded that a differentiation strategy should be adopted as the competitive strategy for the preschool teacher education program. The research findings have significant reference value for the development and planning of similar preschool teacher majors in higher vocational colleges. The practical significance lies in the fact that the research conclusions can be directly applied by education providers. The innovative significance lies in providing career planning references for current preschool teacher major students and their parents through strategic analysis.

Research on the Impact of Certification-Related Reforms on Students’ Abilities Based on the Regression Discontinuity Design

Based on the survey data of international economics and trade majors in Guangzhou City University of Technology, this paper uses regression discontinuity design (RDD) to select indicators such as teamwork, business knowledge, analysis and technology to conduct a comprehensive survey on IACBE certification and a series of teaching reforms. According to the research, professional certification and a series of teaching reforms have a significant impact on the effect of students’ practice. In the future, attention should be paid to teaching team building, students’ teamwork ability and the application of new technology to make higher education better adapt to the changing business needs.

Accuracy of the Self-Administered Rapid HIV Urine Test in a Real-World Setting and Individual Preferences for HIV Self-Testing - Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, July 2020-February 2021.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) self-testing serves as a crucial strategy for overcoming testing barriers, with urine-based self-testing emerging as a potential novel approach. In a real-world setting, this study demonstrated that the urine rapid test exhibited lower diagnostic accuracy compared to the blood rapid test. Study participants expressed stronger preferences for HIV self-testing methods utilizing finger prick samples, accompanied by standard written instructions and lower costs. Our findings indicate that rapid urine testing requires additional validation before widespread implementation. Future development efforts should prioritize user-friendly HIV self-testing approaches to enhance testing accessibility.

Spatial suitability evaluation and layout optimization of emergency shelter: A case study in Tianhe District of Guangzhou City.

Emergency shelters are multifunctional spaces that provide safe refuge, essential life protection, and rescue command for residents in case of urban disaster. These shelters constitute crucial components of urban public safety. This study, with Tianhe District in Guangzhou City as a case study, used data from emergency evacuation sites and other socio-economic sources to construct an evaluation system for spatial suitability evaluation and layout optimization of emergency shelters. This paper utilized from GIS-based methods including Grey Correlation Method (GCM) and Entropy Weight Method (EWM), the research process of "suitability evaluation -evacuation gap analysis-site selection-site optimization"is established, and the suitability evaluation results are calculated from the combination of effectiveness, accessibility and safety; based on the principles of fairness, accessibility, safety and feasibility, combined with the analysis of the current situation of land use and evacuation demand, the layout of urban emergency evacuation sites is adjusted. Finally, the spatial layout optimization plan for emergency shelters in Tianhe District was obtained. The results show that: (1) the overall suitability of the 50 emergency shelters in Tianhe District is favorable: 21 shelters are classified as "suitable," 25 shelters as "slightly suitable," and four as "unsuitable." (2) Most significant evacuation gaps are located in the peripheral areas of Tianhe District. By adding five new evacuation sites to optimize the existing layout, the evacuation coverage increased from 68.4% to 85.2%. Consequently, the number of people in need of evacuation decreased from 387,900 to 80,100, so the reasonable allocation of evacuation space has been significantly improved. At the same time, the optimised scheme increases the density of emergency shelters and reduces the overlap of services to some extent. Evaluating the appropriateness and optimizing the spatial layout of urban emergency shelters can enhance disaster prevention and response capacity in megacities. This approach is of great practical value for the construction of resilient cities and the implementation of sustainable development strategies.

Temporal Evolution of Environmental Impact Arising from Municipal Solid Waste Treatment Systems: A Case Study of Guangzhou, China

It is important to assess the temporal evolution of environmental impacts arising from municipal solid waste (MSW) under different policies, especially in China. However, most previous research has primarily focused on the effects of policies at the system management level, neglecting their influence on technical-level implementation, which compromises the accuracy of policy effect simulations. This study developed a comprehensive simulation model that integrates a life cycle assessment (LCA) and a dynamic simulation model of a complex system to enhance the accuracy of environmental impact simulations of the MSW management system in Guangzhou. The model considers how different measures affect changes in the physical composition of MSW at the technical level and their subsequent impact on MSW generation at the system level. The study employed five scenarios to simulate the impacts of different strategies on MSW generation levels and environmental consequences of MSW treatment systems, encompassing the entire process of generation, collection, and disposal. LCA results simulate a 24.14% reduction in the unit environmental impact of incineration technology due to MSW classification, which alters the material composition, decreases water content, and enhances the caloric value. The comprehensive simulation model’s results illustrate that implementing measures such as MSW charging, economic control, and population control can effectively reduce overall MSW by 31.35%. In terms of environmental impact, Guangzhou reached its peak in 2018 but experienced a subsequent decline due to the continuous implementation of MSW classification policies. Among the various strategies considered, the scenario focusing on technological improvement exhibited the most significant reduction in overall environmental impact by enhancing power generation efficiency and minimizing pollution emissions, followed by metering and charging policies utilizing economic levers. Finally, recommendations on the coupling effect of policies, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and incineration residue recycling are proposed. The comprehensive simulation model can provide scientific theoretical support to build a sustainable MSW treatment system for Guangzhou and other cities worldwide.

Influencing factors of elderly hospitalized psychiatric patients complicated with physical disease: a cross-sectional study of 332 patients in Guangzhou China

ObjectiveTo investigate the influencing factors of the number of physical diseases in elderly hospitalized psychiatric patients.MethodsA total of 332 hospitalized elderly patients with mental illness were enrolled in this study. The number of combined physical diseases was divided into three groups, which were 0, 1 ~ 2, and ≥ 3. Data collected included sociodemographic characteristics, depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, delirium status, social support, medication adherence, social functioning, ability to perform daily living, and swallowing function.ResultsThe sample included 64.2% of female patients, mainly concentrated in 60 ~ 69 years old (48.2%). The length of hospital stay of patients was mainly 15 ~ 30 days (55.7%), and the course of disease was mainly 2 ~ 10 years (38.3%). After adjusting for confounding factors such as gender, poor lifestyle habits, course of disease, length of hospital stay, psychiatric symptoms, depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, delirium, social functioning, social support, and drug therapy compliance, we found that the number of physical disorders in elderly patients with mental illness was related to age, ability of daily living, and swallowing function. The increase of age, the decrease of the ability of daily living, and poor swallowing function contribute to a higher number of comorbid medical disorders in elderly patients with mental illness (P < 0.05).ConclusionAccording to the results, age, ability of daily living and swallowing function were the main influencing factors in the number of complicated physical diseases in elderly patients with mental illness. Future research should focus on improving the daily living ability and swallowing function of elderly patients with mental illness, in order to reduce the prevalence of other physical diseases in elderly patients with mental illness.

Development of a Conghua Cat Head Lion Dance Animation as a Catalyst for Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation

Conghua Cat Head Lion Dance (CHLD) is a traditional dance art that faces challenges in inheritance and education. Animation is engaging and emotionally resonant, naturally appealing to the younger generation, making it a tool that scholars recommend for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). This study employs animation as a catalyst to promote and preserve the art of CHLD among the younger Chinese generation by raising their awareness of it. This study was divided into three stages. In the first stage, a field investigation was conducted at the ancestral hall in Guangdong Province, China. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were held with four purposively selected inheritors to collect qualitative data. The application of thematic analysis revealed four distinctive elements that could be incorporated into the animation: (1) characters, (2) patterns and costumes, (3) props, and (4) performance techniques. In the second stage, an animation was created by incorporating CHLD elements, following The Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (Mayer &amp; Moreno, 1999) and The Animation and Design Principles for Instructional Animation (Betrancourt, 2005). In the third stage, a self-administered survey questionnaire was used to examine whether the CHLD animation had the potential to increase the awareness of CHLD culture preservation among a randomly selected group of 181 students from Guangzhou City Construction College and Guangdong Polytechnic. More than 75% of the respondents expressed positive views of the created CHLD animation. The study’s findings and the created animation reaffirmed the effectiveness of using digital media to preserve and promote CHLD culture, especially among China’s younger generation. This also offers a valuable reference for similar studies contributing to the sustainable development of ICH in the Chinese context.

The Bioaccumulation, Fractionation and Health Risk of Rare Earth Elements in Wild Fish of Guangzhou City, China.

In this study, the total content of REEs ranged from 1.32 to 67.74 μg/kg, with a predominant presence of light REEs. The ΔEu and ΔCe values, which exceeded and approached 1, respectively, indicated positive Eu anomalies and low Ce anomalies. Wild fish were categorized into high-, medium-, and low-REEs-bioaccumulation groups using cluster analysis. Higher LRs/HRs and ΔEu values, coupled with lower ΔCe values, in fish from the high-bioaccumulation group suggested that increased bioaccumulation mitigated fractionation. Omnivorous fish with higher REEs levels and lower LRs/HRs indicated broader feeding sources may enhance REE bioaccumulation and diminish fractionation. Elevated REEs concentrations and LRs/HRs in demersal fish highlighted a preferential accumulation of light REEs in the benthic environment. Smaller fish with higher REEs levels but lower LRs/HRs were likely associated with complex feeding sources. Regression analysis revealed that fish with lengths and weights of less than 18 cm and 130 g, respectively, were more susceptible to REEs bioaccumulation. Despite higher ADI values indicating a greater risk for children and Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, all ADI values within 70 μg/(kg·d) suggested that fish consumption poses no risk. This study confirmed that the fractionation of REEs in fish can be used to trace their bioconversion.

Analysis of risk factors for allergic rhinitis in preschool children with multiple allergic diseases in Guangzhou City

This study aims to analyze the differentiating factors between only allergic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis combined with other allergic diseases in pre-school children and to explore the impact of relevant family and maternal factors during pregnancy on pediatric allergic diseases.The study employed an epidemiological cross-sectional survey design, conducted from January to June 2022 at the Helong Street Health Service Center in Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, China. This cross-sectional investigation focused on 15 preschool education centers within the jurisdiction. It encompassed a total of 4 661 pre-school children aged 3-6 years within the district, resulting in the collection of 3 437 valid questionnaires. The study utilized an online survey, covering aspects such as children's birth conditions, early living environment, maternal lifestyle and emotional state during pregnancy, and paternal information. The questionnaire was designed by an expert team and incorporated advanced logic functions to ensure data accuracy. Diagnosis of allergic diseases included evaluation of symptoms such as rhinitis, asthma, eczema and along with collecting family member's allergy information. Factors like maternal emotional stress during pregnancy, premature birth, and breastfeeding were also considered. The analysis of frequency differences between groups was conducted using the Chi-square test. The distribution differences between two groups were examined using the t-test or Mann-Whitney U test. Additionally, binary logistic regression analysis was employed to identify risk factors for the occurrence of allergic diseases. To illustrate the distribution and co-occurrence of different allergic diseases in children, upset plots were created. Furthermore, forest plots were utilized to analyze the risk factors. The study included 455 children with only allergic rhinitis and 759 children with rhinitis combined with other allergic diseases. The results showed no significant demographic differences between the two groups. Logistic model results indicated that children with allergic rhinitis who had suffered from severe eczema within the first 12 months had a OR(95%CI):19.818 times (2.670-147.095) higher probability of developing combined allergic diseases than those without eczema, while the probability increased 2.345 times (1.825-3.013) for those with mild to moderate eczema. A higher level of maternal education was also identified as a risk factor, increasing the risk by about 1.5 times. Additionally, the risk of developing combined allergic diseases in children with one allergic parent was OR(95%CI):1.662 times (1.273-2.170) higher than in those with non-allergic parents, and 2.181 times (1.504-3.163) higher if both parents had allergies. Moreover, negative maternal emotional stress during pregnancy was more significant in children with combined allergic diseases. In conclusion, severe eczema in the first 12 months, mild to moderate eczema; allergies in one or both parents; parents' educational level, household disposable income level; firstborn status; and negative maternal emotions during pregnancy are risk factors for children with allergic rhinitis combined with other allergic diseases.

Handgrip strength is independently associated with physical quality of life in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis: a cross-sectional study.

We aimed to identify the association between Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and muscle strength in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). In this cross-sectional study from March 2021 to December 2021, 110 MHD patients with a mean age of 63.9 ± 13.0 years and a median dialysis vintage of 25.5 (12.0-52.3) months, were enrolled at a hemodialysis center in Guangzhou city, China. HRQoL was assessed using the Short Form 36 Health Survey (SF-36) and converted into the Physical Component Summary (PCS) and the Mental Component Summary (MCS). The groups were assigned according to the mean score of PCS and MCS, and those with higher PCS/MCS scores (high-PCS/MCS) were compared with those with lower PCS/MCS scores (low-PCS/MCS). Independent factors were evaluated using multivariate analysis. Muscle strength was estimated by handgrip strength (HGS). The mean HGS was 23.7 ± 9.60 kg in men and 14.3 ± 5.30 kg in women. Compared to the high-PCS group, the low-PCS group had older age, higher levels of creatinine, total cholesterol, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), and had lower HGS (all p < 0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors in different models, the five-model multivariate binary logistic regression analyses revealed that HGS was the only independent factor in PCS domain, but not in MCS. HGS may be an independent factor of poor HRQoL in MHD patients, particularly in relation to physical health. The management of muscle strength may improve the HRQoL in MHD patients. A049: Associations Between 24-Hour Accelerometer-Derived Novel Metrics with Health-Related Physical Fitness in Chinese Adolescents

Background/Purpose: Time-use estimates are commonly utilized for describing 24-hour movement behaviors. Nonetheless, the average acceleration (AvAcc), intensity gradient (IG) and the most active X minutes (MX metrics) have been proposed as 24-hour movement behaviors novel metrics describing the volume of activity, the intensity distribution and the most active time periods of the 24-h cycle. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine associations between 24-h accelerometer-derived metrics and health-related physical fitness in Chinese adolescents. Methods: This study recruited 240 students aged 12-18 (143 males, 97 females) from a middle school in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City. The data collection period was from March to May 2023. Participants wore ActiGraph wGT3X-BT triaxial accelerometers on their non-dominant wrist continuously for 7 days to assess physical activity, with removal allowed only during bathing and swimming. Data were sampled at 1-second intervals with a frequency of 30Hz, with at least 2 school days and 1 weekend day (worn for ≥16 hours per day) considered as valid data. The raw accelerometer data were processed using the GGIR package in R software. Health-related physical fitness was assessed using four FitnessGram tests, which included evaluations of cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular fitness, flexibility, and body composition. Multiple linear regression models were performed to predict the association between 24-h accelerometer-derived metrics and health-related physical fitness after adjusting for age, sex and accelerometer wear time. Results: The mean value of average acceleration was 27.94 mg, and the mean value of intensity gradient was -2.20. Among the four fitness indicators, only cardiorespiratory fitness was significantly correlated with intensity gradient (p = 0.013, p &lt; 0.05), as well as with the most active 1, 2, and 5 min (p = 0.042, p = 0.034, p = 0.017, p &lt; 0.05). No significant correlations were found with the other indicators. Conclusions: Overall, the novel 24-hour activity metrics play a crucial role in health-related physical fitness, particularly in the relationship between intensity gradient and cardiorespiratory fitness. It is necessary to take measures in the future to improve adolescents' health-related physical fitness by providing activity intensities to enhance cardiorespiratory fitness.

Unraveling the spatiotemporal trends and source attribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and oxygenated derivatives in Guangzhou agricultural ditch sediment

Oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) have garnered significant scientific attention due to their heightened toxicity and mobility compared to their parent PAHs. This study investigated the occurrence of 11 OPAHs and 16 PAHs within agricultural ditch sediment of Guangzhou City, China. The ΣPAH and ΣOPAH concentrations ranged from 63.8–3955 ng/g and 16.5–522 ng/g, respectively. Notably, concentrations were elevated during the rainy season, attributed to intensified atmospheric deposition and surface runoff during the rainy season. Spatially, Pearson correlation and path analysis disclosed a linkage between OPAHs and high-molecular-weight PAHs and adjacent agricultural practices, whereas low-molecular-weight PAHs were associated with human and industrial operations. This disparity was linked to the restricted mobility of high-molecular-weight PAHs, rendering them particularly susceptible to proximal sources. Diagnostic ratios and principal component analysis-multiple linear regression (PCA-MLR) implicated fossil fuel combustion and vehicle emissions as major contributor to the sedimentary OPAHs and PAHs. Further correlations between estimated source contributions and water quality, strengthened by spatial interpolation, clearly identified agricultural activities, and atmospheric deposition associated with traffic emissions and fossil fuel combustion as primary contributor to sedimentary OPAHs and PAHs. Secondary sources encompassed coal combustion, road runoff, and wastewater from both industrial and shipping activities. The risk quotients (RQs) for PAH and OPAH mixtures indicated moderate to high ecological hazards. This study demonstrated the importance of employing the integrated approach, combining PCA-MLR, diagnostic ratios, and correlation of source contributions with water quality in precisely delineating the origins of OPAHs and PAHs in agricultural ditch sediment.

Correlation between benefit finding and caregiving abilities among family caregivers of patients with lung cancer: a network analysis.

This study aimed to construct a network analysis model for benefit finding (BF) and caregiving abilities to clarify the interrelationships and mutual influences among different dimensions and propose nursing strategies. Convenience sampling was used to select 272 family caregivers of patients with lung cancer admitted to a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou City, China, from April 2023 to November 2023. Socio-demographic and disease characteristics questionnaire, the revised BF Scale, and the Family Caregiver Task Inventory (FCTI) were used for data collection. The R software was used to construct networks for BF and caregiving abilities, and network analysis methods were employed to identify network characteristics, core nodes, and bridge nodes. In the overall network, the social relationship dimension (rs = 3.04) exhibited the highest strength centrality index, followed by the family relationship dimension (rs = 2.94). In addition, the social relationship dimension (rbs = 0.30) had the highest bridge strength centrality index, followed by the dimension of addressing personal emotional needs (rbs = 0.26). This study provides a new perspective on exploring the underlying mechanisms of interaction among different dimensions of BF and caregiving abilities in family caregivers of patients with lung cancer using network analysis. The findings suggest that healthcare professionals can improve family caregivers' social relationships, family relationships and address emotion regulation to enhance BF and caregiving abilities. Specific nursing strategies are proposed, offering new intervention targets for enhancing BF and caregiving abilities among family caregivers of patients with lung cancer.

The impact of psychological violence in the workplace on turnover intention of clinical nurses: the mediating role of job satisfaction

BackgroundThe global nursing shortage, driven by high turnover rates, significantly impacts healthcare quality. Workplace psychological violence severely affects nurses' mental health and job satisfaction, leading to increased turnover. Despite extensive research on workplace violence, the specific impact of psychological violence on nurses' turnover intentions remains insufficiently explored. This study investigates the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between workplace psychological violence and nurses' turnover intentions.MethodsA workplace psychological violence scale, a job satisfaction scale, and a turnover intention questionnaire were utilized to survey 206 clinical nurses in a tertiary-level hospital in Guangzhou City. The study employed a convenience sampling method. Statistical analyses included correlation, mediation analyses., descriptive statistics, multivariate linear hierarchical regression analyses, Pearson correlation analyses, and structural equation models.ResultsClinical nurses reported a workplace psychological violence score of 0.97 ± 0.79, job satisfaction of 3.16 ± 0.58, and turnover intention of 2.22 ± 0.92. Workplace psychological violence was negatively correlated with job satisfaction (r = -0.516, P < 0.01) and positively correlated with turnover intention (r = 0.418, P < 0.01). Turnover intention was negatively correlated with job satisfaction (r = -0.477, P < 0.01). Mediation analysis indicated that Job satisfaction partially mediated the association between workplace psychological violence and turnover intention. The total effect (β = 0.489) of workplace psychological violence on turnover intention included its direct effect (β = 0.274) and the indirect effect mediated through job satisfaction (β = 0.215), with the mediating effect accounting for 43.97% of the total effect.ConclusionsWorkplace psychological violence directly predicts nurses' turnover intention, with job satisfaction serving as a mediator in this relationship. Healthcare managers can mitigate psychological violence by improving mental health support, work environments, and organizational culture to enhance job satisfaction and reduce nurse turnover.

STI or DUI modes of innovation: Evidence from comprehensive evaluation of four cities in China

The Science and Technology Innovation Center holds a pivotal position in the national science and technology innovation system, and a scientific evaluation of the “Sci-tech Innovation Center” will guide its construction direction. This study found the advantages and disadvantages of the four cities through comparison; Hence improvement suggestions were proposed for the weaknesses of the four cities. There are two main paths for the government to drive technology innovation: STI (Science and Technology Innovation) mode and DUI (Doing, Using, Interacting) mode. With the aid of the evaluation index system of the Sci-tech Innovation Center, this article uses fuzzy sets, rough sets and fuzzy dynamic clustering methods to comprehensively evaluate the effects of driving technology innovation in the four cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The results found that Shenzhen has a significant effect in DUI, and Beijing has a significant effect in STI. The choice of path is related to the abundance of innovation resources.
