The Influence of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the Development of Urban Agglomeration in the Pearl River Delta

Known as one of the “seven wonders of the modern world”, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge connects Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao. The bridge, which lasted 14 years from design to construction, spans the Lingdingyang waters of the South China Sea to the west, connects Macao and Zhuhai artificial islands, and ends at Zhuhai Hongwan. The bridge, which shortens the traffic distance between the three places and allows the economy, culture, and technology of the three places to communicate with each other, opened up a new world. This paper intends to review the process of the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and sort out the expected benefits of the bridge’s opening to traffic. Then, the paper explains the new situation faced by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Based on the outward service function model of city flow and the interaction strength model, we conduct an empirical study on the economic status of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This paper analyzes the interaction between the cities which are in the Greater Bay Area and uses panel data to conduct regression analysis to verify the important impact of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the development of cities in the Pearl River Delta. Finally, conclusions are drawn: Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is undoubtedly of positive significance to strengthen economic and social ties between the West Bank of the Pearl River and Hong Kong, and Hong Kong has a large economic radiation capacity to the cities that are in the Pearl River Delta and Macao in the construction, finance, transportation, warehousing, and communications industries. And corresponding suggestions are put forward.

Evaluation of the Level of Smart City Construction Based on Guangfo-Shenzhen-Dongguan in the Context of Guangdong-Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area

The Guangdong Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the most open and economically dynamic regions in China. The construction of a new type of smart bay area is an important part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area strategy, and the construction of a smart bay area needs to be closely integrated with international standards and focus on building a smart digital centre in the Greater Bay Area. This study focuses on the development needs, future development trends and construction strategies of smart cities in four city clusters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area from four development perspectives: smart water conservancy, smart cultural tourism, smart transportation and smart healthcare, using data related to the development of smart cities in Guangzhou-Foshan-Shenzhen-Dongguan in recent years, the entropy weighting method is used to determine the weights of 40 indicators, and the TOPSIS evaluation model is applied to evaluate the level of smart city construction in each city. The evaluation of the level of smart city construction in each city was carried out by using the TOPSIS evaluation model, and it was concluded that there were large differences among the cities, and there was a need for city-specific policies and reasonable improvements. The evaluation of the level of smart city development in each city was carried out using the TOPSIS evaluation model.

Plankton Metabolism in Coastal Waters of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay: Regional Variance and Driving Factors

Metabolisms of field plankton community, including gross primary production (GPP), community respiration (CR), and net community production (NCP), usually indicate the status of the health, resource production, and carbon budget of marine ecosystems. In this study, we explored the regional variance and driving forces of plankton metabolism in coastal waters of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GGBA), a fast-developed area with complex hydrological and environmental states. The results showed that the maximum GPP and CR occurred in the estuarine plume of the GGBA in summer, while in winter the more active metabolisms of plankton community occurred in the Daya Bay, with the GPP and CR being respectively mediated by the nutrient level and temperature. Moreover, four regional zones were divided on the base of the environments and biological factors in surface water of the GGBA i.e., the river-runoff zone, river-plume zone, nearshore and far-offshore zones. The metabolic states in these zones varied significantly due to the regional and seasonal variations of, for example, the nutrient level, temperature, and turbidity driven by multiple factors including land-derived runoffs, anthropogenic activities, the Yuedong Coastal Current, and offshore seawater-intrusions. On the whole, the GGBA areas exhibited the weak heterotrophic processes in both summer (NCP = -24.9 ± 26.7 mg C m-3 d-1) and winter (NCP = -51.2 ± 8.51 mg C m -3 d-1). In addition, we found that the higher CR occurred to the bottom layers of the river plume and nearshore zones wherein hypoxia happened, indicating a possible attribution of plankton community respiration to the hypoxia in the GGBA.

An Intelligent Analysis System for Traditional Arts and Crafts Based on Digital technology: Taking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as the Observation Center.

In order to improve the analysis effect of traditional arts and crafts, this paper analyzes traditional arts and crafts combined with digital technology, builds an intelligent analysis system to improve the digital processing effect of traditional arts and crafts, and takes the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as an example to verify the system effect. In order to improve the accuracy of subsequent image alignment and defect detection, this paper compares the effects of the pixel-level edge detection algorithm and the subpixel-level edge detection algorithm and finally selects the subpixel-based edge detection algorithm to extract the edge of the image. In addition, this paper compares the traditional defect detection algorithm through research and experiment and proposes an improved image phase difference method according to the actual situation. The experimental research shows that the traditional arts and crafts intelligent analysis system based on digital technology proposed in this paper has a very good effect. At the same time, with the support of this system, the intelligent analysis of traditional arts and crafts in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area can be carried out efficiently.

Construction Path and Simulation Deduction of Cross-border Financial Cooperation Mechanism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The financial environment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area involves many aspects such as politics and economy. It is a complex dynamic process. In order to explore the impact of different influencing factors on the financial environment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, this paper starts from three subsystems including economic growth, financial development, and government behavior. Carrying out simulation, through empirical analysis, we put forward policy recommendations to promote the financial environment of the Greater Bay Area.

Research on the Sustainable Development of Urban Night Tourism Economy: A Case Study of Shenzhen City

As the process of cultural tourism integration gradually deepens, determining how to tap into the night tourism economy has become a new focus of the industry. Among the core cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong, and Macau have formed a more mature model of sustainable development of night tourism economy, whereas it is not obvious in mainland cities. The current research themes in this field are more scattered and have not yet formed a study with depth and breadth. Accordingly, this study selects the modern international metropolis Shenzhen as the research object. First, based on system theory and sustainable development theory, it uses hierarchical analysis and a comprehensive evaluation model to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the sustainable development of the tourism economy in Shenzhen from 2011 to 2021. Second, through the cluster analysis of day-time and night-time tourism economic patterns in Shenzhen, it explores the sustainable development path of Shenzhen's night-time tourism economy. Research results show that each major indicator of sustainable development of the tourism economy in Shenzhen maintains stable and fast growth momentum, and the rise of the night-time tourism economy injects a new momentum for sustainable development. As an extension and supplement of the day-time tourism economic form, the night-time tourism economy includes three tourism economic forms: excursionistic, cultural immersion, and host and guest leisure. Finally, the researcher proposes corresponding sustainable development strategies for different forms of the night-time tourism economy. Empirical findings of this study have important reference value for the related research on the night tourism economy.

Research on Mechanism of Building Synergistic Competitive Advantages of Industries in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is positioned as the most active bay with a high technological level and the strongest innovation capabilities in the global market. As the cities in the Greater Bay Area are pursuing the integration of management, technology, and enterprise innovation, and emphasizing the development of collaborative innovation, it is important at present to effectively promote the high-quality development of the regional economy and industry. Thus, we apply the basic concepts of industrial theories in the methods of research and summarize four aspects to explore the research topic. We find that leading companies need to be given the responsibility of building an industrial ecosystem and realizing self-evolution through digital transformation in creating a niche for disruptive innovation and development. Furthermore, enterprises need to form industrial chain clusters through the extensional development method of investment and M&A. In addition, enterprises need to build a new industrial aircraft carrier through collaborative competition to realize the expansion of the industrial ecology of the Greater Bay Area in the future.

The Evolution of China’s High-Level Talent Mobility Network: A Comparative Analysis Based on School and Work Stage

The flow of high-level talents in China is becoming more and more active and has a profound impact on the innovation and development of cities. Based on the research on the spatial distribution of the school and work stages of high-level talent in China, we study the structure and evolution of China’s high-level talent mobility network by using the data on the flow trajectory of talent among cities in China. The results show that: (1) the spatial distribution of talents in the two stages has greater consistency, but there is a change characteristic of “large dispersion, small agglomeration.” (2) Compared with the school stage, the network in the work stage has much more connections; the centrality gap of cities has narrowed. (3) “Core-periphery” structure of two networks is relatively significant and similar. The core layer in the two networks has not changed, but the subcore layer and the subedge layer have undergone changes. In addition, talents mainly flow to core and subcore cities. (4) The space structure of network is more complex in the work stage, and it is expanding to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in southeastern China.

Improve entrepreneurial policies and institutional systems, provide entrepreneurial financing support and ease the pressure on entrepreneurial cash flow, etc.

Legal Instruments for the Integration and Cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA): Better Implementation of the SDGs

The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN provide a blueprint for a more sustainable future for all. The implementation of the SDGs largely depends on the action taken by national and local governments. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) is an area in China with special economic conditions and political support. This paper aims at exploring the legal issues concerning the integration and cooperation among different regions in the GBA and the implementation of the SDGs. It concludes that the GBA could perform an important role in the future exploration of sustainable development and opening-up of China. Clearer and systematic legislation is needed to provide more legal instruments and a more solid legal basis for integration and cooperation in the GBA. Chinese policymakers should fill the legal gaps and provide more legal support for the integration. This could shed light on China’s further exploration of sustainable development both domestically and internationally.

Research on Industrial Agglomeration and Isomorphism of Manufacturing Industry in Pearl River Delta

As a national strategy, the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is of great significance. The Pearl River Delta is one of the core regions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and important for the upgrading of innovative manufacturing industries. It is important to enhance the competitiveness of those areas and optimize industrial structure by promoting the division of labor between cities. The quantitative research on the industrial agglomeration and industrial isomorphism of the manufacturing industry in nine cities in the Pearl River Delta shows that each city has formed its specialized manufacturing industry, and the phenomenon of industrial isomorphism has been improved by the unified planning of the manufacturing industry in the Pearl River Delta.

Evaluation of the Production-Education Integration Performance of the High-Tech Industry: An Empirical Comparison between Three Urban Agglomerations in China

Deepening production-education integration (PEI) is a major strategy of China to reinforce education reform and promote industry transformation. Different from the traditional research perspective of colleges on the supple side, this paper chooses to evaluate the PEI performance of the high-tech industry from the angle of industry on the demand side. Firstly, the action mechanisms of the education system and industry system in PEI were expounded, and the design framework of the evaluation index system (EIS) was derived from the interactions between two elements (technologies and talents) and two market relationships (supply and demand), forming a two-dimensional four-quadrant EIS. On this basis, the correlation-entropy composite matter-element (CECME) model and coupling coordination degree (CCD) model were introduced to empirically compare the PEI performance of the high-tech industry between Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (GHKM) Greater Bay Area, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) Urban Agglomeration, and Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Urban Agglomeration. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) the GHKM Greater Bay Area is far better in education and industry development than YRD Urban Agglomeration and BTH Urban Agglomeration; (2) the PEI performance of the high-tech industry in GHKM Greater Bay Area was evaluated as high level with industry in lead, that in YRD Urban Agglomeration as moderate level with education in lead, and that in BTH Urban Agglomeration high-tech industry PEI as moderate level with industry in lag. Finally, several countermeasures were proposed for the urban agglomerations to further enhance the PEI performance of the high-tech industry: GHKM Greater Bay Area should improve the weak link of education development; YRD Urban Agglomeration should give full play to its advantages in higher education; BTH Urban Agglomeration should focus on high-quality industry development. From the practical level, this paper objectively evaluates the actual performance of PEI and provides a reference for scientific policymaking of PEI development.

Job Value and Organizational Socialization of the Youth of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: The Mediation of Career Exploration?

This paper took the social exchange and social cognitive perspectives to examine the effects between job values and organizational socialization and how to play a mediation in career exploration and moderating effect in demographic characteristics. The research collected 700 valid samples of the youth of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for statistical analysis and then subjected them to job value scale, career exploration, and organizational socialization scale. With structural equation model and correlation analysis, it verified that the proposed scale had demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity, a theoretical model of a good overall fit. In the final part, this paper used hierarchical regression analysis and path analysis. The results indicated that career exploration plays a mediation role between job value and organizational socialization, demographic characteristics are moderating effect between job value and career exploration, and demographic characteristics make a moderating effect between career exploration and organizational socialization, but demographic characteristics are not moderated on work value and organizational socialization.

A comparative study on knowledge towards COVID-19 prevention among undergraduate students in Macao and Zhuhai, China.

In order to develop the strategy more suitable campus-based coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention programs for undergraduate students, it is critical to identify discrepancies in knowledge of COVID-19 prevention among students from different campuses in China. The present study examined the difference in preventive knowledge about COVID-19 pandemic in undergraduate students from two cities of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), which had very few cases of COVID-19 patients, and Zhuhai, which is borders Macao SAR. In August 2020, two cohorts of undergraduate students from universities in Macao (n = 977) and Zhuhai (n = 2,818) were recruited for online. The self-rating questionnaire was used to gain information about their knowledge in COVID-19 prevention. Macao and Zhuhai students had similar correct rates in terms of heat inactivation conditions of SARS-CoV-2, (76.8% vs. 76.9%, P = 0.950), etiquette when coughing and sneezing (75.9% vs. 75.0%, P = 0.562), and use of disposable masks (92.2% vs. 90.6%, P = 0.126). However, students from Macao had significantly higher rates in correct use of disinfectants against SARS-CoV-2 (24.6% vs. 17.5%, P < 0.001) and in the route of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (84.5% vs. 79.6%, P < 0.001) than those from Zhuhai. In conclusion, the knowledge level of COVID-19 prevention differs among undergraduate students from Macao and Zhuhai, which warrants an appropriate region-specific health education strategie for COVID-19 prevention.

Public Housing Allocation Model in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area under Clustering Algorithm

In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Bay Area), the allocation methods of public rental housing are analyzed to achieve scientific and fair housing allocation as much as possible, so as to protect the housing demand of low-income and middle-income families. The housing model in the Bay Area is analyzed firstly, and the key points of public rental housing and allocation management models are discussed comprehensively. Furthermore, a method based on rough-based fuzzy clustering (RFC) is proposed to analyze the housing demands of security groups, and a public housing allocation model is constructed based on actual demand of residents. The housing allocation plan is given and decided by the decision-making department based on the demand of the security objects and the characteristics of public housing. The simulation experiments are performed on the clustering algorithm optimized based on rough set feature selection. On the Chess data set, the optimized clustering algorithm shows an obvious improvement in clustering accuracy and recall rate compared with the traditional clustering algorithms, which are 0.76 and 0.95, respectively. The bilateral matching method based on fuzzy axiom design can fully consider the actual needs of both the supply and demand of the housing security, which is beneficial to improve the rationality and correctness of public housing allocation. The allocation method of public housing based on demand clustering analysis focuses on improving the housing security level and strives to meet the higher-level housing improvement needs of housing security objects, so as to provide security objects with more expected living conditions and improve housing allocation effect.

A study on the optimization strategies for the service trade structure of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The construction of urban agglomerations and integration of regional economics have become the new trends in Chinese economic development. The economy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area plays a significant role in driving regional development and stimulating technological innovation. In this paper, through study on the current situation of trade in service in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the reasons for the improper trade structure are concluded. Through data and case analysis, the factors affecting service trade structure are located. The results of case analysis can offer some useful and viable recommendations for the optimization of service trade structure, which can facilitate the industrial transformation and upgrading in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as well as give a fresh impetus to economic growth.
