Three separate aspects of aerosol growth processes are discussed to illustrate the interesting diversity of this subject. The first concerns the necessity under certain conditions for a stochastic description of chemical reactions in ultrafine particles. The second concerns the growth of ultrafine particles by condensation when the vapor is conserved—a model for one of the processes involved in formation and growth of condensation aerosols. Third, some of the features of the aerosol growth in turbulent host gas are examined and illustrated with new results obtained from atmospheric measurements.
