LEVEL OF LEARNING DISCIPLINE OF CLASS XI HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The undisciplined behavior carried out by some students includes coming to school late, not going to school or skipping class, not doing school assignments. This study aims to understand the level of learning discipline of eleventh grade high school students. The research methodology applied is quantitative descriptive analysis. The research population was all eleventh grade high school students, the research sample was 186 students. Data analysis was carried out calculating the score of the learning discipline scale through filling out questionnaires that had been distributed to the research population. The results showed that 128 students (68.8%) were in the moderate category related to the level of learning discipline. Students need to be given an understanding of the awareness of the importance of studying hard. And it is necessary to arrange learning methods that are in accordance with the characteristics of students.

Enhancement table tennis forehand drive ability after exercise using the return board junior high school students

The objective of this study is to assess the impact of return board-based forehand drive instruction on Central Java junior high school students in Class VIII. Experimental research employing a two-group pretest-posttest design, this study consists of a pre-treatment pretest and a post-treatment posttest. Sixteen return drill training sessions were administered to the experimental group, while the control group received no intervention. Hypothesis tests, normality tests, and homogeneity tests are all components of data analysis techniques. The findings of this study indicate that the experimental group's forehand drive ability improved significantly as a result of return board training (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; mean difference = 4.100). In contrast, there was no discernible impact of enhancing forehand drive ability on the control group (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). As a result, it can be concluded that instruction utilizing the return board can significantly improve the forehand driving ability of Central Java eighth-graders. To improve one's ability to execute a forehand drive, researchers propose employing a training method that utilizes the return board. The aforementioned research findings suggest that instruction utilizing the return board may significantly enhance the forehand driving proficiency of Central Java Junior High School students in grade VIII. At a significance level of 0.000, the mean difference is 4.100. To improve one's forehand driving abilities, researchers recommend selecting a training method that incorporates the return stroke as an alternative. It is crucial that the training programs are well-organized, structured, and adhere to established procedures. Scholars desiring to undertake additional investigations pertaining to the utilization of return boards are encouraged to select alternative training modalities and juxtapose them.

PUBLIC SPEAKING ANXIETY DURING ORAL PRESENTATION: FACTORS AFFECTING AND HOW STUDENTS OVERCOME IT

The main focus in this research is to investigate the factors affecting public speaking anxiety among students during oral presentation and to explore students’ strategies to overcome public speaking anxiety. The participants in this this case study research are 2nd grade of senior high school students at Daruttaqwien Islamic Boarding School. This research utilizes observation and interview to explore more deeply about factors causing public speaking anxiety and students’ strategies to overcome it during oral presentation. The results of this research found that the students experienced various factors affecting public speaking anxiety such as lack of confidence, language factor, grammar factor, pronunciation factor, and peer factor. Meanwhile, the students’ strategies in overcoming public speaking anxiety were think positively, preparation, practice, and deal with audience. Hopefully, the results of this study can be helpful as a reference for students and teachers in order to aware about public speaking anxiety, so the approach for overcoming public speaking anxiety can be found simultaneously.

Designing an E-Module on the Solar System to Develop Critical Thinking Skills

This study aimed to develop learners' critical thinking abilities through concentrated application in related learning activities. A quasi-experimental design of the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group type was employed. The study was done between January and February 2023 with a sample of 60 junior high school students in grade VII, divided evenly into an experimental group and a control group, each with 30 participants, focused on the solar system. The experimental group utilized problem based learning (PBL) e-modules, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. The instrument used in this study included a critical thinking variable with four components in the form of a multiple-choice exam with a reliability value of 0.183, allowing it to evaluate students' critical thinking skills. The data were collected during the pretest and after treatments by administering the posttest. After the SPSS analysis, the data was shown descriptively and inferentially. The results revealed a notable difference in critical thinking capabilities between students involved in PBL-based e-modules and those taught using conventional approaches (P < 0.01). Therefore, the study shows that including PBL-based e-modules into the curriculum could improve students' critical thinking ability quite successfully.

State-level structural sexism and adolescent sexual violence victimization in the US

BackgroundAdolescent sexual violence victimization is a significant public health issue in the United States. Structural sexism, a form of gender inequality at the societal level, may play a crucial role in influencing the prevalence of sexual violence victimization among adolescents. ObjectiveThis study aims to examine the association between state-level structural sexism and sexual violence victimization among adolescents and to explore how this relationship varies between male and female adolescents. Participants and settingData was derived from a nationally representative sample of high school students in grades 9–12 across the United States who participated in the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBS) in 2017 and 2019. MethodsA state-level structural sexism index was created from nine different items to reflect the multidimensional nature of structural sexism. This study employs multi-level regression analysis to investigate the impact of state-level structural sexism on three types of sexual violence victimization: sexual violence, sexual dating violence, and physical dating violence. ResultsThis study revealed a significant interaction between structural sexism and gender. In states with higher levels of structural sexism, female adolescents reported increased likelihood of sexual violence (β = 0.013, p < .001), sexual dating violence (β = 0.006, p < .001), and physical dating violence (β = 0.006, p < .001) compared to males. Conversely, male adolescents in these states reported lower rates of victimization. ConclusionsThe results underscore the role of structural sexism in influencing sexual violence victimization among adolescents. Addressing structural sexism may be essential in mitigating the risk of sexual violence victimization, especially for female adolescents.

Student attitudes toward quantum information science and technology in a high school outreach program

[This paper is part of the Focused Collection in Investigating and Improving Quantum Education through Research.] With the current growth in quantum information science and technology (QIST), there is an increasing need to prepare precollege students for postsecondary QIST study and careers. This mixed methods, explanatory sequential research focused on students’ affective outcomes from a one-week, 25-h summer program for U.S. high school students in grades 10–12. The workshop structure was based upon psychosocial theories of self-determination and planned behavior, where QIST aspirations may be facilitated and viewed as achievable choices if students acquire disciplinary knowledge, self-efficacy, normative expectancy of their capacity in the field, and awareness of vocational roles. The program featured lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences in classical and quantum physics and quantum computing. Students’ attitudes toward QIST (N=77)—including self-efficacy, self-concept, relevance, career aspirations, and perceptions of quantitative fluency—showed improvement with a medium effect size, even though treatment students entered the program with more positive QIST attitudes when compared with a control group of high school physics students (N=65). Postprogram interviews with n=12 participants identified several explanatory themes: (i) Students tended to comprehend classical and quantum topics taught through multiple representations, regardless of whether they had taken physics previously; (ii) students experienced some challenges with mathematics and science concepts that support quantum understanding, yet they revealed a willingness to learn new concepts outside of their comfort zone; (iii) students expressed motivation for pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and/or quantum-related careers in the future, as well as increased QIST self-concept, largely through understanding the relevance of QIST in solving technological problems; and (iv) students reported increased self-efficacy in understanding QIST topics and performing related tasks. This informal summer program showed promise in promoting positive student attitudes toward QIST, a critical emerging field in advancing technological solutions for global challenges. Utilization of Learning Media Geography of High School in Sleman Regency

This study aims to explore various aspects of learning media in geography at senior high schools in Sleman Regency, focusing on four key areas: the availability of media (including type, quantity, and condition), the utilization of media, the difficulties faced by teachers, and the efforts made to optimize media use. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative method, the research surveyed geography teachers and high school students in grades X, XI, and XII across 45 schools, comprising 17 public and 28 private institutions. A proportional random sampling technique selected 16 schools, with 16 teachers and 96 students chosen through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. Results revealed that the available learning media, primarily maps, atlases, and globes, were classified as insufficient in quantity, despite being in good condition. The utilization of media was in a favorable category, with a media variation of 68.75 percent. Student responses regarding media usage were high, and opportunities for engagement were also positive. However, teachers faced significant challenges, with 68.75 percent reporting difficulties related to limited media availability, manpower, costs, and time. Teachers' efforts to address these challenges were classified as moderate (87.50 percent), including organizing independent media, utilizing donations, and participating in training sessions and teacher meetings.

News is a text that has an important role in disseminating information. News text is so useful that it has become a literacy material for students due to the development of advanced technology. Although it has become one of the sources of student literacy, online news texts are still classified as having syntactic errors such as a lack of understanding of the language used in compiling a sentence in the news. The purpose of this study is to describe sentence errors in the news contained in the old CNN Indonesia news, such as "December Sky Phenomena: Geminid Meteor Shower to Solstice", "Mandalika Circuit's Important Role in Bringing Indonesian Drivers to Success in Asia", "Solar Storms Raining on Earth, RI Safe?", "The First Candidate Debate will be Held at the KPU Office on December 12", and "When HIV Tests Become a Scary Scourge Because of People's Scorn". This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results of this study found several findings such as effective sentences, ineffective sentences, spelling errors according to EYD, errors in the use of diction, and sentences that are not clear to the reader. The most common error found in the five news articles is ineffective sentences. The benefit of this research is to provide knowledge insights in the form of understanding sentence writing systematically, which will be useful in improving understanding of authorship in news texts and preventing errors from occurring again in the same news so that it is worthy of being a literacy material for 12th grade high school students.

Kualitas Isi dan Kalimat Langsung pada Novel Perfect Couple Karya Asri Aci sebagai Sumber Bacaan Siswa SMA Kelas XII

Currently, many novels can be read and are available on various social media platforms. These novels are expected to achieve the existing learning objectives and enable students to understand and implement the results of their learning activities well. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality of content and direct sentences in the novel to determine whether or not the novel Perfect Couple is suitable as a reading resource for high school students in grade XII. This research will analyze various aspects of the quality of content and direct sentences, such as the level of content with the subject matter, the level of suitability of direct sentences with the level of students' reading ability, and others. The descriptive-qualitative method is used in this study by describing and analyzing the quality of content and direct sentences in the text of the novel Perfect Couple by Asri Aci. So, the researcher finds descriptive data and then looks for findings to be explained in detail. The descriptive method in this study is used to determine the quality of content and direct sentences in the novel Perfect Couple by Asri Aci. The data collected is in the form of words and pictures, not numbers. From the analysis that has been done, there are several quotations from the quality of content and direct sentences in the novel Perfect Couple by Asri Aci. The analysis results in this article are expected to add deeper understanding and knowledge about the quality of content and direct sentences contained in the novel. The first result of this research is that ten positive content qualities provide benefits to readers so that they can be used as reading material for high school students in class XII. The second result of this research is that there are 2,562 direct sentences consisting of 1,401 news sentences, 964 question sentences, and 199 command sentences.

Utilization of Indonesian E-Modules Based on The ICARE Approach as An Innovation in Learning for Students

This research aims to design and implement an Indonesian e-module based on the ICARE approach, which includes the stages of Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, and Extension. The method in this study was research and development (R&amp;D) with the ADDIE model. The stages conducted in this study were (1) needs analysis, (2) design, (3) product development, (4) implementation or trial, and (5) evaluation. The validity of the product was assessed by three experts in the fields of material, language, and media. The calculation of the data in this study was analyzed using a questionnaire with a Likert scale method. The response trial was conducted with junior high school students in grade VIII from 3 schools in Batam City. Based on the test results, it was obtained a score of 4.58 with a validity level of 89%. It provides evidence that the implementation of e-modules based on the ICARE approach in an educational environment can increase the effectiveness of Indonesian learning. Students can learn independently and collaboratively, and develop critical skills such as problem-solving, analysis, and synthesis of information.

An Error Analysis on the Use Of Simple Past Tense in Writing Narrative Text of 11th Grade High School Students at SMK Swasta YPK Medan Academic Year 2022/2023

Simple past tense is an action or activity carried out by a subject in the past. Past tense refers to actions in the past and tells us all about their relationship with the present. The purpose of this research is to know types and causes of error on simple past tense. To know dominant error on the use of simple past tense in writing narrative text. To find out difficulties faced by students in comprehending simple past tense and narrative text. The researcher adopts a descriptive qualitative method. Carried out by gathering data from the natural environment without altering the situation. Data of this research is error made by students in written test of past tense. Data source is a writing test with the theme “My Holiday”. It consists of 55 words or more. Tests are distributed to 16 students of SMK SW YPK MEDAN. The researcher found 116 errors from writing test that the researcher carried out, it was found that the highest frequency of error that students made was mis formation about 78.45% errors, omission was 12.93% errors, selection was 5.17% errors, addition was 2.59% the last was mis ordering with 0.86%. the researcher also found that the highest error was caused by intralingual and the second highest was caused by interference.

Analysis of Language Style in Food and Beverage Advertising Slogans and Their Recommendations as Teaching Materials For Advertising Texts in SMP

The purpose of this study is to characterize the linguistic styles used in online slogans for food and beverage products. The numerous food and beverage product ads that use catchy slogans to attract large audiences served as the inspiration for this study. In order to assess the data and provide descriptive conclusions, this study employs a qualitative descriptive method. The study's findings indicate that the slogans of online ads for food and drink products contain many linguistic styles, such as personification, metaphor, hyperbole, and repetition. By presenting the language styles that have been discovered into teaching materials, the study's findings can be used to create advertising text learning handouts for junior high school students in grades VIII. This will help students understand the language styles used in advertising slogans.

The Effect Of Adaptive Learning Experience (Adlx) On Mathematics Learning Outcomes Of High School Students In Grade Xi Based On Learning Motivation

This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of ADLX (Adaptive Learning Experience) on the mathematics learning outcomes of grade XI high school students by considering learning motivation. Using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design, this study involved several 11th grade high school students in X City who were divided into two groups: an experimental group using ADLX and a control group using conventional methods. The research instruments include mathematics learning outcome tests and learning motivation questionnaires validated by experts. The data were analyzed using the variance analysis technique (ANOVA) to test the hypothesis. The results showed significant differences in mathematics learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group using ADLX showing better results. The data analysis also revealed that learning motivation interacted significantly with ADLX use, suggesting students with high learning motivation benefited more from ADLX use than students with low learning motivation. In general, students report that their learning motivation is influenced by the material's relevance to their daily lives and interactive and engaging teaching approaches. The use of ADLX, which involves hands-on experience and real-life examples, is considered effective in increasing understanding and motivation for learning math. This shows that the contextual learning approach is to improve students' understanding of mathematics. The conclusion of this study is that the use of ADLX can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of high school students in grade XI, especially for students with high learning motivation. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating adaptive technology in learning and the need for strategies to increase student learning motivation to achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Hubungan Daya Tahan Kekuatan Otot Tungkai dengan Laju Lari 100 M pada siswa Kelas VII-3 SMP Negeri 1 Bonepantai

In an effort to improve running ability, muscle strength endurance is very important. The aim of this research is to explain the relationship between the strength endurance of body movements, especially the leg or leg muscles, and the extent to which the ability to withstand the strength of the leg or leg muscles affects 100 meter running speed. junior high school students in grades VII�3. In this research, the correlation method is used simultaneously with a quantitative approach. To collect data, a Leg Dynamometer and a Stop Watch were used. Data is analyzed using simple methods and multiple correlations, along with the Product Moment formula. The results showed that (1) there was a significant relationship between leg muscle strength and running speed for 100 meters, with a correlation value of 0.449. The results show that (1) leg muscle endurance influences 100 m running speed because the calculated value is 2.510 &gt; table is 2.008, and (2) variable X influences variable Y. The determination coefficient of 0.201 from this output shows that the influence of the independent variable ( leg muscle endurance) in the dependent variable (100 m running speed) is 20.1% and the significance value is 0.001&lt;0.005

Pengaruh Tindakan Bullying terhadap Kesehatann Mental pada Siswa SMP Katolik Pineleng, Kabupaten Minahasa

Bullying is an action carried out by individuals or groups who feel stronger to hurt weaker victims, whether physically, verbally or emotionally, repeatedly without any resistance, with the aim of making the victim suffer. The research aims to determine the effect of bullying on the mental health of adolescents at St. Catholic Middle School. Fransiskus Xaverius Pineleng, as well as understanding the extent to which bullying impacts the psychological condition of students in the school environment. This type of research is quantitative using a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted at St. Catholic Middle School. Fransiskus Xaverius Pineleng in August 2024. The population in this study was all 47 junior high school students in grades 7, 8 and 9. Non probability sampling was taken using a purposive sampling approach of 30 respondents. The instruments used were the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire-Revised and Self Questionnaire (SRQ). The dependent variable is bullying which has 30 questions and the independent variable is mental health which has 20 questions. The results showed that in the low bullying category, 20% of students experienced mental health problems and 26.7% were not disturbed. Meanwhile, in the high bullying category, 26.7% of students experienced mental health problems and another 26.7% were not disturbed. The chi square test produces a p-value of 0.980, which indicates there is no significant effect (p &gt; 0.05).

Video animation in coordination system to improve students’ cognitive ability

The biological concept has a broad scope and requires the visualisation of bioprocesses to provide complex understanding. Learning media can help visualise bioprocesses to enhance students’ cognitive abilities. The study aimed to develop, test the practicality, and test the effectiveness of video animation in improving grade XI high school students’ und erstanding of the coordination system. This study involved 66 high school students in grade XI of the science department at State Senior High School 2 Malang, Indonesia. This research used the Lee &amp; Owens Multimedia-Based Instructional Design method, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the evaluation stage, we conducted face validity by media experts and content validity by material experts, successively getting results of 97% and 100%. Then, the concurrent validity test was obtained from student assessments of the media interface with a result of 97%, the user-friendly with a result of 100%, and the appropriateness of the material with a result of 95%. In the final stage, construct validity was carried out through an effectiveness test using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. Data analysis was performed using the Independent T-test, with the results showing a significance of 0.006 &lt; 0.05, which showed a significant difference in the average post-test between the control and experimental classes. The average score in the experimental class increased from 76.32 to 89.03, but the control class increased from 76.38 to 84.56. The results showed that the video animation media effectively improved students’ abilities. Therefore, this learning media can be a recommendation in the learning coordination system.

Statistical Analysis of Factors Influencing Stress and Resilience in High School Students in Visakhapatnam Region

Abstract: This paper investigates the factors influencing stress and resilience among high school students. We employed a binary logistic regression model to assess the relationship between independent variables (academic workload, family support, extracurricular activities, peer relationships, etc.) and dependent variables (stress and resilience). A diverse sample of 85 high school students (grades 10-12) from various schools in the region of Visakhapatnam was collected by using stratified random sampling. In this sample, using the proportional allocation technique, 37 are from grade 10, and 48 are from grade 11 and 12. Data was collected through a questionnaire, and binary logistic regression was fitted using the statistical software package SPSS and gave valid conclusions and recommendations.

Project-Based Learning Model Oriented Towards Creative Character in Poetry Text Learning for 10th Grade High School Students

This research is entitled "Project-Based Learning Model Oriented Towards Creative Character in Poetry Text Learning for 10th Grade High School Students." Based on the results of research on poetry text learning activities, teachers need to adapt the learning model to effectively implement classroom activities. Therefore, the problem addressed by this research is how to model a creative character-oriented project-based learning approach in teaching poetry texts in 10th-grade high school. The aim of this research is to explain a creative character-oriented project-based learning model for teaching poetry texts. The research method used is Research and Development (RnD). The primary data source comes from expert teachers who validate the Learning Implementation Plan tool. Data collection is conducted by providing a set of question instruments to the validators for assessment. The data analysis technique involves validation analysis and effectiveness analysis, assisted by statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel. The presentation of the collected data includes a narrative description of the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) after validation by the validators. Conclusions are drawn from the validation results based on questionnaire evidence provided by the three validators. At the final stage, after the lesson plan has been validated, it will be concluded and described. The research results showed that the average score before using the project-based learning model (O1) was 79.80. After using the project-based learning model, the score (O2) increased to 87.30. Data based on regression statistical tests using Microsoft Excel show that the p-value is &lt; 0.005, indicating that H0 is accepted. This data explains that with a p-value of 0.868, there is a significant difference in learning outcomes between before and after using the Project-Based Learning Model.

Disposable e-cigarette use: Factors, frequency and cigarette smoking among United States high school students.

Disposable e-cigarette use has increased among United States (US)high school students in recent years. However, there is limited research on the profile of these users, how often they use these products, and whether they displace cigarette smoking. This study aimed to measure how disposable e-cigarette use among US youth varies according to demographic characteristics and whether there is any association between e-cigarette use and reduced use of traditional cigarettes. We used cross-sectional data from the 2022 National Youth Tobacco Survey and conducted a multinomial logistic regression to examine factors associated with the types of e-cigarette devices used in the prior 30 days, adjusting for sex, sexual identity, grade level and race/ethnicity. We also used a finite mixture model to account for unobserved differences among users and identify e-cigarette use patterns in different subgroups of users. United States. Survey participants self-reported the type of e-cigarette device used, the frequency of e-cigarettes used and cigarettes smoked over the past 30 days. Disposable e-cigarettes were the most popular e-cigarette type. Sex, sexual orientation, grade level and race/ethnicity were associated with disposable e-cigarette use. The odds of disposable e-cigarette use were lower in male students than in female students (odds ratio [OR] = 0.78, 95% confidence interval [CI] = [0.64-0.96]), and higher in students who identified as gay or lesbian (OR = 1.70, 95% CI = [1.11-2.61]) or bisexual (OR = 1.52, 95% CI = [1.16-1.99]) than in heterosexual students. The odds of disposable use were higher among students in higher grades (10th, 11th and 12th) than in 9th graders (OR = 1.71, 2.24 and 2.52, respectively). Disposable e-cigarette users had a lower frequency of traditional cigarette use than other e-cigarette users, both in the low-frequency class (incidence rate ratio [IRR] = 0.33, 95% CI = [0.12-0.92]) and the high-frequency class (IRR = 0.27, 95% CI = [0.08-0.92]). Disposable e-cigarette use appears to be higher among United States high school students who are female, older and/or identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual. Disposable e-cigarettes appear to be associated with reduced traditional cigarette use.
