Bridging the gaps for a thriving Black Sea Blue Economy: insights from a multi-sectoral forum of Turkish stakeholders

The Black Sea ecosystem faces significant challenges due to climate change and human activities. Despite this, the opportunities and potential of its Blue Economy and the role of Turkish stakeholders in the key sectors have not been well documented. To define the needs of the Black Sea’s Blue Economy and outline existing problems, a workshop entitled “Engaging Stakeholders: Trabzon Multi-Actor Forum” was held in Trabzon (Türkiye) in November 2022. Stakeholders from the research sector, academia, civil society, industry, business, competent authorities, and government shared their thoughts on various sectors of the Blue Economy, covering 17 areas. They discussed political, environmental, social, technical, legal, and economic aspects, revealing opportunities, challenges, and areas where more research is needed. This meeting provided valuable insights, indicating that efficient collaboration with stakeholders could lead to effective solutions and strategies, helping to improve the Blue Economy in the Black Sea region.

Beyond ethical guidelines: upholding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethical governance in health and medical research. A scoping review.

To examine what ethics approvals are being sought for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and medical research, and to determine what proportion of this research upholds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethical governance via an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled human research ethics committee (AHREC) by jurisdiction and funding body type. Scoping review of all original, peer-reviewed health and medical literature published over a 5-year period (January 2018 to December 2022). Extending on a previous review, the search tool LIt.search was used to access all literature relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and medical research. 589 eligible publications were included from the parent review, and a further 1703 publications were identified from the updated search. A total of 945 publications were included. A substantial number of ethics approvals were obtained from government-based ethics committees (394, 41.7%). More than half of the publications reported obtaining institutional ethics approval (514, 54.4%). Less than half (400, 42.3%) reported obtaining AHREC approval. Almost one-third of publications were on research that was conducted in states or territories where there is no AHREC (334, 35.3%). Publications did not always report obtaining AHREC approvals, including in jurisdictions where one operates. We found a concerning lack of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethical governance reported in health and medical research. Acknowledging that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethics guidelines and AHRECs were established due to harm caused to communities, these results suggest a high risk, with research not consistently being deemed safe, respectful and beneficial with appropriate AHREC ethics review and approval. We join calls for the establishment of AHRECs in all jurisdictions and nationally. Furthermore, we urge funding bodies and institutions to uphold requirements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ethical governance in research and funding agreements, as well as institutional policies and procedures.

Human research ethics committee processes and practices for approving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research: a mixed methods study.

To describe human research ethics committee (HREC) members' reports of: HREC membership structures; HREC processes for reviewing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and medical research; and experiences and perceptions of review operations. Cross-sectional 36-item survey and qualitative interviews with a subsample of survey participants. Current and past members (preceding five years) of HRECs who assessed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research. Survey and interview results related to HREC structures, processes and functioning; challenges in review processes; and what is needed to improve ethical governance. 229 HREC members completed the survey and 13 were interviewed. Half the participants (115 of 221, 52%) reported having an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative position. Key issues identified related to assessment processes and resourcing, including burden on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members, ability for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HRECs to manage additional applications, lack of clarity around specific assessment criteria for general population studies, lack of cohesion across the application or complaints processes, and lack of resourcing and infrastructure to monitor ethical practice after approval. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people carry an important role and burden in the review of applications and monitoring of health research. However, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not presently involved in all aspects of ethical research governance within current HREC structures, including the review and monitoring of approved research. Standardised processes and guidelines that uphold Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights and expert knowledges are required.

Common institutional ownership and executive pay-performance sensitivity: Mediating role of information transparency and fund occupation

Research in corporate governance highlights the development of executive compensation contracts as a crucial strategy for mitigating agency conflicts. This study uses the pay-performance sensitivity (PPS) of executives as a metric to evaluate the effectiveness of compensation agreements, specifically examining the influence of common institutional ownership (CIO) with data from publicly traded companies between 2009 and 2022. The findings reveal the existence of PPS and its amplification through CIO, a conclusion that remains robust after conducting various tests. Moreover, the research identifies two mediating effects: information transparency and fund occupation. The co-governance role of CIO is found to be more pronounced in the eastern region, within state-owned enterprises, and in contexts characterized by higher agency costs and greater equity concentration. These insights deepen our understanding of the governance synergies associated with CIO, offering both theoretical and empirical foundations for the design of executive compensation contracts.

Financial statements are essential for assessing the financial health and performance of a company, serving as a key tool for management to provide relevant and accurate business information to stakeholders. The main component of financial statements is the company's profit, which plays an important role in evaluating management's performance in asset management and operations. This information is critical for internal and external parties, such as shareholders, creditors, and investors, who rely on earnings data for decision-making and strategy development. Earnings are generally recorded as the difference between revenues and expenses, with net income and earnings per share as commonly used measures. Accurate and consistent earnings reporting, supported by transparent accounting standards, is fundamental to informed decision-making. This study explores the impact of financial ratios on earnings growth in pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2017 to 2023. The pharmaceutical sector, with its unique characteristics and challenges, such as dependence on research and development (R&D) and government regulations, exhibits different dynamics compared to other industries. Previous research has mostly focused on the manufacturing and services sectors, with limited research on the pharmaceutical sector. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the relationship between financial ratios, such as Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Gross Profit Margin (GPM), to earnings growth in the pharmaceutical sector.

Application of artificial intelligence to toxicological assessment of plant: a bibliometric analysis and future research plans

Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained attention in health science, with significant applications in the toxicological assessment of plants. However, a bibliometric analysis is essential to chart research trends and propose future advancements. This study explores key publications on AI’s role in plant toxicity assessment, identifying unresolved issues in pharmacological research. Articles from January 2008 to December 2023 were retrieved from the SCOPUS database, revealing a steady rise in publications, with a sharp increase from 2019 to 2023. A total of 75 research articles were analysed. The articles were categorised into four main clusters: AI applications, drug development, toxicity prediction models, and adverse drug event evaluations. ‘AI’ was the most frequently mentioned keyword, followed by ‘drug toxicity.’ Among 64 articles, the USA contributed 29, China 11, India 8, and the UK 4, with the UK having high citation rates. The findings highlight a growing trend toward AI-driven toxicity prediction in drug discovery. However, few studies provide definitive conclusions on AI’s potential in this field. The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened interest among researchers and policymakers. This study urges increased government and agency funding for AI-driven toxicity research. Advancing this field will enhance drug safety, reduce harmful testing, and promote sustainable plant use, aligning with SDGs 3, 12, and 15.

Exploring Individual and Team Resilience Among Dutch Hospital Nurses: A Survey Study.

Nurses confront substantial daily workloads. Coping mechanisms, including resilient behaviours at both individual and team levels, are pivotal in managing these challenges. Factors like work experience can significantly influence individual resilience. Yet, team resilience among nurses remains relatively unexplored. Our study examined perceptions of both individual and team resilience among Dutch hospital nurses. Furthermore, we investigated the impacts of hospital type, ward type and work experience. The Employee Resilience Scale was used to evaluate individual resilience and adapted for team contexts to assess team resilience. This study was one of three conducted under a governmental research program aimed at improving patient safety in the Netherlands. A paired t-test and correlation analysis were conducted to compare individual resilience with team resilience. A separate t-test assessed the impact of ward type on perceived individual and team resilience. Finally, post hoc analyses were used to examine the effects of hospital type and work experience. In total, 344 nurses from 25 different wards of 17 Dutch hospitals completed the survey. In general, nurses indicated to act more resilient on the individual level (mean = 3.77, SD = 0.61) compared to the team level (mean = 3.53, SD = 0.65; t = 7.25, p = 0.00). A correlation was found between perceived individual and team resilience (r = 0.53, p = 0.00). No effects of hospital- and ward type were found on both individual or team resilience. Years of work experience did not affect individual resilience but showed a significant effect on team resilience. Dutch hospital nurses indicated they often act resilient on both individual and team levels. However, with increasing workloads in healthcare, being able to remain resilient will become increasingly challenging and important. Organisations should therefore support employees to maintain resilience by adapting their work environment to meet more employees' needs.

‘We all have the same goals’? Goal diversity in cross-sector collaborations of cultural education

Following the current rise of cross-sector networks in education, we take a closer look at the supply side in the field of cultural education in Germany. We consider goal diversity in cross-sector collaborations and aim to provide insights into the group-specific goals of actors in the initial phase of collaborations. Using the lens of collaborative governance, collaborative engagement, and goal diversity research, we conducted 24 semi-structured interviews which we analyzed using thematic qualitative content analysis. We identified distinct goals for each of the five participating groups. These goals can be assigned to the macro, meso, and micro levels of the network, providing information about the direction of the goals and emphasizing the dynamic interplay of goals and their implications for collaborative dynamics. Future research could determine whether the results can be found in other contexts.

Capturing food insecurity data and implications for business and policy.

Food insecurity (also known as food poverty) is the inability to afford or access a healthy diet. It has become recognised as a public health emergency and is a priority in the context of the environmental, geopolitical and socio-economic implications on businesses, households and civic society. This review paper aims to discuss the merits of collecting food insecurity data and its importance in informing cross-sectoral government and others' understanding, policymaking and action on hunger. The review paper's key findings are that concerted action on measuring and mapping food insecurity with the aim of eliminating or reducing its prevalence represents a triple win for government, business and citizens. However, measurement does not provide solutions to food insecurity but contributes importantly to understanding its extent and severity to inform and evaluate proffered solutions. Government, business and food insecurity researchers and commentators cannot merely continue to simply describe food poverty - but must effect meaningful change amidst our communities to improve life quality in a timely way for those experiencing acute and chronic hunger. This is best done by addressing the structural causes of food insecurity through economically, socially and culturally fair and appropriate policy levers, requiring cross-sectoral collaboration. Ultimately, food insecurity requires a long-term, sustainable solution that addresses the policy issues under focus: low income, under/unemployment, rising food prices and Welfare Reform, informed by routine, Government-supported monitoring and reporting of the extent of food poverty among our citizens.

Audit and financial communication quality: the moderating role of internal governance mechanisms

PurposeThis study aims to examine the effect of audit quality (auditor expertise and discretionary accruals) on financial communication quality and to distinguish the moderating role of corporate governance mechanisms (board size, CEO duality, board gender diversity and block ownership) on this relationship.Design/methodology/approachLinear regression is used to analyze the annual reports of 150 nonfinancial firms that belong to the CAC All-tradable index for the period 2015–2023.FindingsThe empirical results show that auditor expertise has a positive and significant effect on financial communication quality. Furthermore, board size reinforces the negative effect of discretionary accruals on financial communication quality. However, CEO duality and block ownership attenuate the positive effect of auditor expertise on the dependent variable.Research limitations/implicationsOur research covers three areas of research, i.e. audit quality, corporate governance and financial communication research. It presents the moderator role of some governance mechanisms on the relation between audit and financial communication quality. Furthermore, it aims to identify best practices in the governance system that attempt to facilitate and improve the positive impact of audit quality on the quality of financial communication, which increases stakeholder confidence in the firm. We caution readers from generalizing the findings of this study, as our study is based on a well-developed sample. Also, it is limited only to annual reports to measure the financial communication index without looking at other information transmission channels.Originality/valueThis study investigates the moderating role of internal governance mechanisms in the relationship between audit quality and financial communication quality in the French context.

Organic Phosphorus in the Terrestrial Environment: an Update on Current Research and Future Directions

Abstract In 2016, a group of experts convened to set priorities for organic phosphorus (P) research, addressing global issues, methodological strengths and weaknesses, and the benefits of understanding the organic P cycle. Seven years later, scientists and students with an interest in organic P reconvened to discuss progress and new insights, and this review highlights recent major research updates. Interest in organic P research has increased since 2016, and new priorities have emerged, including the impact of climate change on organic P, the influence of geopolitical crises on P supplies, and the adoption of sustainable practices like regenerative agriculture. Climate change was a central theme in the 2023 discussions, with an increased emphasis on integrating P and especially organic P into climate change research, which has traditionally focused more on carbon (C) and nitrogen (N). The discussions highlighted disparities in accessing analytical equipment globally, and its consequent impact on research quality and scope. To address these issues, coordinated efforts involving the research community, government policies, and international cooperation are needed, much the same as we see with the climate and biodiversity crises. Promoting sustainable agricultural practices, investing in soil health, and enhancing education and extension services are crucial. Future research should focus on standardizing analytical methods, integrating nutrient balance into models, and exploring soil-microbiome-plant interactions. Regular and intedisciplinary workshops, social media engagement, and the establishment of research networks are recommended to maintain momentum in organic P research. Raising public and stakeholder awareness about the importance of organic P is essential for advancing knowledge in this area.

Development of a Service-Oriented Interoperability Framework: The Botswana E-Government System Case Study

Efficient information exchange between government entities and citizens is crucial for effective governmental service delivery. However, e-government systems in developing countries like Botswana face challenges due to a lack of communication and integration among these systems. This case study addresses the interoperability challenges in Botswana's e-government systems by exploring and documenting the development of the e-government service-oriented interoperability framework (e-GSOIF). This framework integrates various technological and methodological approaches to improve service delivery and efficiency. It incorporates service-oriented architecture (SOA), event-driven architecture (EDA), ontologies, a refined software development lifecycle methodology, and the interoperability practical implementation support (IPIS) approach. The study pinpoints key factors impacting e-government system implementation and interoperability in Botswana through interviews, questionnaires, and observation. It also identifies essential technical components for E-Government Interoperability. The e-GSOIF framework is evaluated against the original IPIS framework using exploratory factor analysis and compatibility assessment with predefined functionality criteria, demonstrating its superiority. This paper targets government officials, IT specialists, researchers, and students interested in e-government services interoperability. It offers insights into advancing the landscape of e-government service delivery through an effective interoperability framework.

From Farm to Future: Charting India's Agricultural Path to Global Competitiveness and SDGs Alignment

Almost all of the 17 quantifiable Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the UN General Assembly adopted in 2015 to address contemporary global issues by 2030 have some connection to agriculture, giving it a multifaceted significance. Agriculture should be considered an essential component of the SDGs since it serves as a vital link between humans and the environment. This research work undertaken to study the present obstacles faced by agriculture and allied sectors in attaining the SDGs in India, to study the potential of agricultural transformations in India to contribute to the global SDG targets focusing on food security, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation, to discover the linkages between agriculture and SDG’s, and assess the role of Indian agricultural strategies in addressing these interconnections and to identify vital schemes for renovating Indian agriculture into a globally competitive sector while aligning with the SDGs. This study is based on secondary data, utilizing a variety of credible sources such as government reports, research articles and policy documents to investigate the connection between agriculture and the SDGs in India. Quantitative and qualitative analysis was applied to interpret the data, highlighting key obstacles. This study paper is unusual in that it explains how the agriculture sector and sustainable development goals are related, how the agriculture sector may help achieve the SDG goals, and what policies the policy makers should implement to make this happen. The main obstacles to achieving sustainable productivity include climate change and ecological degradation, overuse of natural resources, inadequate application of sustainable farming practices, chemical fertilizer and pesticide dependency, low efficiency, and price-led growth. Prioritizing the adoption of measures such as increasing productivity, utilizing climate-resilient agricultural practices, consolidating land, integrating technology, and improving market access and infrastructure are necessary to improve sustainable productivity. To guarantee that agriculture advances to the next level of growth alongside other sectors, a well-coordinated plan of action and strategy between the federal government and the states is required. This research offers important insights into improving the efficacy of agricultural policies and practices in India and the achievement of sustainable agriculture and SDGs by highlighting crucial areas for reform and strategic alignment.

Iron deficiency anemia: A global public health concern

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) remains a significant global public health concern, affecting populations across both developing and developed nations. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2019, approximately 1.62 billion people were affected by anemia, with iron deficiency being the most common cause. This condition disproportionately impacts vulnerable groups, including women, children, and populations in low- and middle-income countries. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a substantial prevalence of IDA, particularly among certain demographic groups, including pregnant women and young children (CDC, 2020). The impact of IDA is particularly evident in regions like India, where the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) highlights concerning trends and the need for targeted interventions to address iron deficiency, particularly among women and children. Studies suggest that improved iron status in populations is essential for reducing the prevalence of IDA and its associated complications, such as cognitive impairment, fatigue, and weakened immune function. Recent advances in diagnostics, including point-of-care testing, have improved the identification and management of anemia in primary healthcare settings. Addressing IDA involves comprehensive strategies such as iron supplementation, dietary improvements, and public health initiatives like the Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Program in India. The global efforts to combat nutritional anemia underscore the importance of multifaceted approaches to prevention and control. Ultimately, tackling IDA in India will require a multi-sectoral approach, with collaboration between government agencies, healthcare providers, research institutions, and local communities to ensure the widespread success of interventions in reducing iron deficiency and improving overall health outcomes.

How Can Regional Collaborative Governance Promote Public Value Through Relational Leadership? Grounded Research Based on Inter-Provincial Collaboration Between Guangdong, Hunan, and Guangxi in China

Studies on regional collaborative governance based on China's institutional context are abundant, but the leadership perspective behind regional collaborative governance has rarely been discussed in previous studies. Based on a review of relational leadership theory, this study adopts the grounded theory methodology to study the three cities bordering Guangdong, Hunan, and Guangxi provinces, condensing the components of relational leadership in regional collaborative governance and the general explanatory framework. The research found that relational leadership in regional collaborative governance is composed of mission-driven, social capital, governance resources, trust shaping, common learning, interaction mechanisms, and public value. Among them, mission-driven is the motivation, social capital and governance resources are the basic conditions, trust shaping and common learning are actions, the interaction mechanism is the carrier, and public value creation is the goal. At present, the main problem of regional collaborative governance is that the governance mechanism is "built but not run.” It is necessary to build an effective network governance system through the relational leadership of leaders, improve the overall public leadership of regional governance, and promote a governance system to operate more effectively. This research not only explores the dynamic leadership process of regional collaborative governance, but also enriches the micro perspective of regional collaborative governance research, expands the theoretical space of collaborative leadership, makes up the "leadership deficit" in the field of regional collaborative governance, and has reference significance and practical enlightenment for further promoting the performance of collaborative governance in the cross-region context.

A bibliometric review of data factor market: contrasting Chinese and international literature from a governance perspective

Purpose As the pioneer nation to formally integrate data as a factor of production into its national strategy, does China’s research emphasis on data factor market differ from that of other countries? Currently, there is a notable absence of comprehensive comparative analyses addressing this issue. The purpose of this study is to fill this gap by systematically reviewing the development trajectory of research on the data factor market from a governance perspective. Design/methodology/approach In this study, the authors used Citespace software to conduct bibliometric analyses on a corpus of 1,304 international publications and 1,249 Chinese publications. These analyses encompassed various dimensions, including publication quantity and trend analysis, cocitation analysis and keyword cooccurrence analysis, while also facilitating a comparative examination of research disparities between Chinese and international literature. Findings There are significant differences between Chinese and international data factor market studies in terms of governance environment, governance entities, governance technology and governance mechanism. The authors strongly advocate the promotion of cross-border research collaboration to advance the research and application of data factor market governance. Originality/value The authors have innovatively proposed a framework for data factor market governance. Building upon this framework, the authors conducted a comprehensive comparative analysis of research disparities between Chinese and international literature, thereby unveiling emerging research trends in the field of data factor market.

Learning Health Systems Research

Background: Learning health systems research (LHSR) builds on concepts of systems-based participatory research to form a new paradigm for partnered research. Objective: Defines LHSR and its ongoing challenges and future directions. Research Design: Qualitative description of relevant dimensions of LHSR. Results: In LHSR, researchers and health system stakeholders co-create research with dual aims of producing internal quality improvement and generalizable, disseminable knowledge. This approach aligns research priorities with community and health system needs, resulting in interventions that are both feasible and acceptable in real-world settings and effective. LHSR methods and outcomes reflect elements of implementation science, particularly participatory implementation science and the use of mixed methods, but the field is distinct in its emphasis on co-creation with health system leaders and the use of theory to inform rather than drive the work. Practitioners of LHSR face challenges related to the complex and multi-stakeholder nature of the field, including the time-intensive nature of building partnerships, conflicting project time horizons, imprecision inherent in real-world data, and barriers to publication of the smaller studies that typically result from LHSR. Conclusions: Continued advancement of the field requires confronting these challenges with a variety of interventions, including explicit institutional support and incentives for this type of work, training and career development opportunities, a diversity of funding sources, investment in data resources and expertise, and inclusive research governance structures.

Mastering Corporate Integrity: The Dynamic Relationship Between Board Independence and Financial Quality

The quality of financial reporting is increasingly scrutinized in the context of corporate governance, particularly with respect to board independence. This study explores the relation among board independence and financial reporting quality, an area of growing interest as stakeholders demands greater transparency in corporate financial practices. Board independence is hypothesized to increase the quality of financial reporting by mitigating conflicts of interest and increasing accountability. This research employs a bibliometric approach to review 66 journal articles published between 1995 and 2020, focusing on the social sciences and business disciplines. Using the bibliometric 3.0 package in R-studio, we carry out a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to identify key sources, influential authors, and the evolution of research themes. Our findings indicate a rising focus on the impact of board independence on financial reporting, with significant attention to the role of independent audit committees and the importance of diversity in board composition. We also observe an increasing number of studies on how board independence affects company transparency and earnings management. This paper offers important implications for policymakers, investors, and corporate governance researchers, emphasizing the need to strengthen board independence practices to enhance financial reporting quality and corporate transparency.

Being "resilient" and achieving "resilience": From governmental discourses to the national research agenda in the contexts of food insecurity and cost of living.

The concept of 'resilience' is pervasive, permeating academic disciplines and political discourses. This paper considers (i) the construal of 'resilience' in the contexts of food insecurity and cost-of-living in governmental discourses in the United Kingdom (UK); (ii) to what extent the political representations are reflected in research funding calls of UK national funding bodies, thus showing possibility of shaping research agendas; and (iii) to what extent official uses of 'resilience' reflect lay understandings. We are combining a corpus-based discourse analysis of UK governmental discourses and research funding calls with a study of focus group discussions. Representations of 'resilience' are further compared with those available in general English corpora. We are observing a shift in the use of 'resilience': from an individual psychological attribute to a primarily socioeconomic and environmental characteristic. Funding calls construe resilience in relation to communities, reflecting economy and environment adaptability, whereas governmental discourses frame references to individuals in terms of 'vulnerability'. Focus groups reveal divergent conceptions of 'resilience', which may lead to potential misunderstandings. While this variety of uses may be productive in political discourses for rhetorical purposes, there is a need for specificity in shaping research and in public-facing communications.

Cancer clinical trial participation: a qualitative study of Black/African American communities' and patient/survivors' recommendations.

Black/African Americans experience disproportionate cancer burden and mortality rates. Racial and ethnic variation in cancer burden reflects systemic and health-care inequities, cancer risk factors, and heredity and genomic diversity. Multiple systemic, sociocultural, economic, and individual factors also contribute to disproportionately low Black/African American participation in cancer clinical trials. The Participatory Action for Access to Clinical Trials project used a community-based participatory research approach inclusive of Black/African American community-based organizations, Henry Ford Health, and the University of Michigan Urban Research Center. The project aims were to understand Black/African Americans' behavioral intentions to participate in cancer clinical trials and to obtain recommendations for improving participation. Audio-recorded focus group data were transcribed and coded, and searches were conducted to identify themes and subthemes. Representative text was extracted from the transcripts. Six community focus group discussions (70 participants) and 6 Henry Ford Health patient/survivor focus group discussions (29 participants) were completed. General themes related to trial participation were identified, including (1) systemic issues related to racism, health disparities, and trust in government, health systems, and clinical research; (2) firsthand experiences with health care and health systems; (3) perceived and experienced advantages and disadvantages of clinical trial participation; and (4) recruitment procedures and personal decision-making processes. Specific recommendations on how to address barriers were obtained. Community-based participatory research is effective in bringing communities equitably to the table. To build trust, health systems must provide opportunities for patients and communities to jointly identify factors affecting cancer clinical trial participation, implement recommendations, and address health disparities.
