Automatic Railway Gate Controlling and Smart System of Railway Gate Crossing using IoT

The main objective of this paper to propose the smart system of controlling the railway gate automatically to avoid the accident while crossing the railway gate as well as smart way of railway gate crossing using the mobile application. In this system we are using the Internet of Thing (IoT). IoT is a network of interconnected devices which are connected with sensors. For IoT device can communicate with no human inter rup ton. By implementing these, it will provide control of railway gate to the device which operates the railway gate. It reduces the time, gatekeeper carelessness for operating the gate close and open than the gatekeeper. So this system is useful for reduction of the accident at level crossing. In addition to this, one more additional feature is implemented for the driver’s convenience who can use for the level crossing . Here, driver needs to install the mobile application in their mobile by which they can check the railway gate is open or close . The Ultrasonic sensor detect the train is coming or not and with help of NodeMCU send to the Google Firebase and Firebase will send the same information to NodeMCU which is located at level crossing and close the gate with the help of Servo Motor, and when the train departure from the another side Ultrasonic Sensor it will again send data to Google Firebase and Firebase again give command to NodeMCU to open the gate which is located at level crossing. This is cost effective, real time and time saving automatic system.

Camshot-Hand Written Text Recognition and Object Detection Application

Text recognition is a technology which has ability to recognize text from images automatically developed in computer device. Tremendous demand is seen for storing the information available in physical papers into a storage disks and can be reuse this data by searching process. A simple way is to scan documents and store it as image. But reusing this data is becomes difficult to read contents and search these documents line by line or word by word. Quality of images and font characteristics of paper are main concerns. Computer devices are unable to identify these characters while reading them. Thus, character recognition methods are much needed to identify texts from images which converts paper format to digital format. In this paper we have discuss a method for text recognition from images using google firebase services like ML kit, in particular order of different processing module for better understanding.

Project Ratification System using Firebase

The main objective and scope of this project are to overcome the practical problem of project submission and approval in educational institutions. This will cut down the physical efforts of students, staff and also the time frame period of completing this part of the project work. Students can streamline their project status every week and provide a report regarding the progress, which will be monitored by all the relevant professors. The application provides an interface to both the faculty and students to easily communicate about the project work with no difficulties. This portal integrates numerous features like student updating the progress of their project online to their guide; where the guide can verify it and can accept/reject the students' note; this response would be reflected in each student's dashboard; a guide can also post the information about his mentees weekly progress to the class in charge. This portal prominently serves as a repository of students' work as they are presenting in one place, and this reduces a lot of actual toil for both students and faculty. Thus, thereby automating the process of project management in educational institutions. This implementation can be achieved by making use of android application development tools like the Android Studio IDE, Java JDK, SDK tools and an emulator or a smartphone to test the working of this application. We make use of Google's Firebase for back-end support which allows us to build applications that need authentication, database, file storage, and server-side functionality without having to hold and handle infrastructure and software needed for server-side support.

Creating a Food Menu Application for Mendel University in Brno

The presented paper describes the creation of a mobile application module for showing a current menu at Mendel University cafeterias. Nowadays, the students and the university staff have the menu accessible through a static webpage. The presented solution serves as a dynamic presentation of the current menu for all Mendel University in Brno cafeterias. Most cafeteria menu applications use the REST architectures for the server backend. The contribution of the paper is in usage of the Google Firebase Realtime database as a server backend. Unlike in traditional REST architecture, the data e.g. the food rating is instantaneously changed and the users have an up to date information. Part of the presented solution is also a mobile application module for both Android and iOS where university students and staff can see the current cafeterias menus.

The introduction of information technology occurs in almost all industries, but the solution to this issue in the education system and particularly in the organization of management at facultiesof higher educational institutions is the most acute. The article is devoted to developing a software prod uct for automated control of studentsachievement with statistics, reporting, convenient and fast format of interaction, which will replace the manual paper format of document processing. Service’s Server Platform is Node.js with TypeScript programming language in integration with Google Firebase services. The client side is created using Vue.js (frontend framework for creating SPA - one-page applications), Nuxt.js (framework for SSR - server rendering), Typescript (strictly typed web application programming language). The server interacts with the REST API. The main implementation is in a webapplication. All the necessary reports on faculties, groups, specific students, courses, years, and the level of competitions are automatically generated and issued in a form convenient for analysis.The product is designed for deans’ offices of the Donetsk State University of Management, but can flexibly adapt to the individual needs of other educational institutions of all levels of accreditation. Automation of students' knowledge control with statistics, reporting, a convenient and fast interaction format, using the most advanced and most effective tools for creating web applications, will significantly affect the competitive advantages of an educational institution in the educationalservices market. And increasing the speed and quality of work with the student body will be able to ensure the reliability and integrity of management in general.

Realtime health monitoring system design for children with cerebral palsy using internet of things

The realtime health monitoring system is a typical application of wearable computing in the medical field. However, existing technology does not consider to design monitoring system for supervision for people with cerebral palsy. The advances in internet innovation have made possible techniques for the conveyance of healthcare. The objective of this research was to design and develop innovative technological solutions to offer a more proactive and reliable medical care environment. The short-term and primary goal was to construct IoT4CP. We also describe an experimental model designed for checking the health condition of the children with cerebral palsy based on IoT architecture. The framework depends on sensor shield associated with a cloud platform that gathers the data from the sensors. The sensors measure various parameters, such as a heart rate and muscle contraction which are transmitted via microcontroller by a gateway to a cloud storage platform by google firebase. This research presents the first realtime analyses to be activated within this framework and can send data smoothly with total average 1.77 seconds.

Internet and industrial revolution 4.0 brought influence in society, especially in agriculture, the changes that occurred were in farming activities by applying appropriate technology. This activity is much in demand, especially the planting irrigation process. However, the process of irrigation or irrigation that has used appropriate technology still has some shortcomings such as pumping and control hardware systems that are still stand-alone using a timer, so the automation and monitoring process is still semi-manual. As done in the cultivation of janggelan (black grass jelly), which focuses more on irrigation governance, because the janggelan requires water intake and fertilizer nutrition which is always monitored. In order for the device to function optimally, it is made a miniature tool based on the internet of things to facilitate control and monitoring via a smartphone. In order for the miniature tool can be integrated and function in real-time with the Internet of things, then all devices (YL 69 sensors, Relay, Board NodeMCU esp 8266 are given C language coding commands, via the Arduino ID interface. synchronization between the user interface, the miniature devices, and Internet networks running normally. IoT devices and internet networks can run normally. Sensor data is able to give the pump selenoid command to turn on under humidity conditions of less than 65%, while the pump is off at 40% humidity. The success rate of data sent on Google Firebase with an average total ping of 70.28% was all successful .

A New Approach for Optimizing Management of a Real Time Solar Charger Using the Firebase Platform Under Android

With the continuous growth of energy consumption, the rationalization of energy has become a priority. The photovoltaic energy sector remains a major occupation for researchers in the field of production optimization or storage methods. The concept developed in this work is a mixed optimization approach for energy management during battery charging with a duty cycle. A selective collaborative algorithm intervenes to choose and use the appropriate results of the few techniques to optimize the charging time of a battery and estimate its state of charge by using the minimum possible tools. This is done using a collective database that is accessible in real time. It also effectively allows the synchronization of information between several customers. This approach is performed on a mobile application on android, through a Google Firebase platform that allows us to secure collaborative access between multiple customers and use the results of the calculations of some algorithms. It gives us the values obtained by the various sensors in real time to accelerate the charging speed of the battery. The validation of this approach led us to practice a few scenarios using an Arduino board to show that this approach has a better performance.

Android Based Thesis Mentoring System Using Google Firebase

This research aimed to build a platform to carry out the thesis mentoring process which was periodic, real-time, systemized, and well-integrated in Ciputra University in Surabaya. The researcher used Google Firebase technology provided by Google and built it on an Android-based platform. The method used was the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model. It was divided into six stages of the process: requirement analysis, system design, implementation, system testing, system deployment, and system maintenance. Data collection methods used were observation and interviews conducted to the final project coordinator in the study program. The results show that system has six main features including progress overview of thesis, chat room, guidance schedule, guidance book, important date, and announcement. Moreover, the thesis mentoring system is easy to use and consists of easyto-understand menus. After going through the process of analysis, this system is very helpful in scheduling guidance, monitoring the progress of student thesis work, and managing announcement and important date.

Iot based Parking Sensor Network for Smart Campus

The difficulty in finding parking spaces is growing into a more serious problem especially in urban areas. As the number of vehicles on the road continues to increase substantially, the difficulty in finding parking spaces increases even more. To combat this rising issue many cities have adopted a more organised and intelligent parking system which is also commonly known as smart parking system. This is to improve the efficiency of locating a parking spot, especially in an urban area. The smart parking system will often have sensors at parking spaces to determine the occupancy of the respective parking space. This occupancy value is relayed to a server by some specific communication protocol. The parking occupancy can then be displayed to the public by a Graphical User Interface (GUI) design which gets the occupancy values from a server. This project simulates the parking sensor network design in a smart campus setting by implementing the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT). This project uses ultrasonic sensors that are connected to a NodeMCU microcontroller to send the parking occupancy values to an online database implemented using Google Firebase. A mobile application with a GUI (Graphical User Interface) is also created using MIT App Inventor 2 to display the vacancy of parking by communicating with the online database. The results obtained in this project were promising. The successful implementation of this idea will allow users to save more time and money, not to mention that it can also help reduce carbon emissions from vehicles resulting in a more sustainable environment.

PROeverywhere: Bridging the implementation gap of patient-reported outcomes with a mobile app.

203 Background: Patient reported outcome (PRO) data are critical for informing patient-centered care and have been shown to enhance our ability to communicate with patients, to control their symptoms, and to impact their survival. However, PRO data are not commonly collected in routine cancer care due to implementation challenges such as cost, technological rigidity of existing electronic health records, and misalignment of stakeholders’ incentives. Methods: In an effort to bridge the unmet needs of PRO collection and integration into routine cancer care, we aim to develop an effective, scalable, and sustainable symptom monitoring and management system that can be accessible worldwide. The system was developed using Xcode, the integrative development environment of Apple Inc., with the Swift programing language. Results: On Nov 28th, 2017, we launched a free, mobile PRO application on the Apple App Store – PROeverywhere. PROeverywhere is designed for reporting twelve common symptoms from the National Cancer Institute’s Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events. These symptoms include pain, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, appetite loss, diarrhea, constipation, shortness of breath, depression, anxiety, insomnia, memory problems, and neuropathy. Symptoms are reported in a 5-point scale – no symptom, mild, moderate, severe, and disabling. PROeverywhere has the functions to record symptoms, summarize the reporting in printout, and automatically store and analyze the input into graphical interpretations. Updates to PROeverywhere will be released in July 2018, with additional features that include longitudinal tracking dashboard, emoji scale, Spanish questionnaire, and “social networking” capability to connect users with potential to allow remote, real-time, reporting and monitoring. PROeverywhere is downloadable worldwide and securely powered by Google Firebase. Conclusions: PROeverywhere is developed to enable PRO data to be shared more easily and regularly in routine cancer care. Implementation of this free mobile application would allow for consistency in collection of PRO data with the potential to impact patient outcomes globally.

A Web-Based Graphical Food Frequency Assessment System: Design, Development and Usability Metrics.

BackgroundFood frequency questionnaires (FFQs) are well established in the nutrition field, but there remain important questions around how to develop online tools in a way that can facilitate wider uptake. Also, FFQ user acceptance and evaluation have not been investigated extensively.ObjectiveThis paper presents a Web-based graphical food frequency assessment system that addresses challenges of reproducibility, scalability, mobile friendliness, security, and usability and also presents the utilization metrics and user feedback from a deployment study.MethodsThe application design employs a single-page application Web architecture with back-end services (database, authentication, and authorization) provided by Google Firebase’s free plan. Its design and responsiveness take advantage of the Bootstrap framework. The FFQ was deployed in Kuwait as part of the EatWellQ8 study during 2016. The EatWellQ8 FFQ contains 146 food items (including drinks). Participants were recruited in Kuwait without financial incentive. Completion time was based on browser timestamps and usability was measured using the System Usability Scale (SUS), scoring between 0 and 100. Products with a SUS higher than 70 are considered to be good.ResultsA total of 235 participants created accounts in the system, and 163 completed the FFQ. Of those 163 participants, 142 reported their gender (93 female, 49 male) and 144 reported their date of birth (mean age of 35 years, range from 18-65 years). The mean completion time for all FFQs (n=163), excluding periods of interruption, was 14.2 minutes (95% CI 13.3-15.1 minutes). Female participants (n=93) completed in 14.1 minutes (95% CI 12.9-15.3 minutes) and male participants (n=49) completed in 14.3 minutes (95% CI 12.6-15.9 minutes). Participants using laptops or desktops (n=69) completed the FFQ in an average of 13.9 minutes (95% CI 12.6-15.1 minutes) and participants using smartphones or tablets (n=91) completed in an average of 14.5 minutes (95% CI 13.2-15.8 minutes). The median SUS score (n=141) was 75.0 (interquartile range [IQR] 12.5), and 84% of the participants who completed the SUS classified the system either “good” (n=50) or “excellent” (n=69). Considering only participants using smartphones or tablets (n=80), the median score was 72.5 (IQR 12.5), slightly below the SUS median for desktops and laptops (n=58), which was 75.0 (IQR 12.5). No significant differences were found between genders or age groups (below and above the median) for the SUS or completion time.ConclusionsTaking into account all the requirements, the deployment used professional cloud computing at no cost, and the resulting system had good user acceptance. The results for smartphones/tablets were comparable with desktops/laptops. This work has potential to promote wider uptake of online tools that can assess dietary intake at scale.
