Erect branching herb, 40 cm to 1 m high. Older branches pale brown, young parts pilose. Indumentum a mixture of simple, biramous and stellate trichomes. Leaves opposite, discolorous, pale green, turning dark brown on drying above, greyish-white below, pubescent on both sides; petiole 3-14 mm long, pilose; lamina ovate 2-7-3 x 1-3-4 cm, rounded, acute to acuminate at the apex, cordate at the base; margin regularly crenate-serrate. Inflorescence a simple terminal raceme, with 4-8-flowered verticillasters in the axils of leaf-like bracts; bracts becoming smaller towards the apex; bracteoles linear 4-5 mm long, pubescent, caducous; pedicel 1-2 mm long. Calyx 10-ribbed, 5-toothed, pubescent on the outside ? glabrous inside, except for some scattered hairs, 5 5-8 mm long; tube 2-5-4 mm long; teeth slightly unequal, 2-5-4 mm long. Corolla white with pink or greenish tinge; tube 5-6 mm long, two-lipped, upper lip 2 -54 5 mm long, lower lip 3-lobed, 6-8-5 mm long, pubescent on the lower lip and tube on the outside and scattered hairs inside, except in the lower ?. Stamens 4, didynamous; upper pair 2 mm long, lower pair 3 mm long including anther. Ovary 4-locular with 1 ovule in each locule; style 5 5 5 mm long (Fig. 1).
