NATIVE gibberellin-like substances have been found in peelings of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers1–3, using Phinney's dwarf maize bioassay4. These substances were shown in one report1 to be more active on dwarf maize-5 than on dwarf-1. In another report, extracts stimulated elongation of dwarfs −1, −3, and −5 equally3. This communication presents evidence for the occurrence in potato tubers of new neutral and acidic substances exhibiting gibberellin-like activity.
