Electromigration, thermomigration and diffusion coefficients have been evaluated in liquid Ge 15Te 85. The GeTe alloy of near eutectic composition demonstrates moderate electromigration. The electromobility of Ge atoms is about 2 × 10 −4 cm 2/V sec. The thermomobility of Ge atoms is small. Preliminary results indicate that other impurities in the system may demonstrate higher thermomobility. The GeTe alloy demonstrates precipitation of solid GeTe crystals from the liquid with a growth rate at the cathode controlled by electromigration transport.
