2024 British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) UK national guideline on the management of vulval conditions.

The management of vulval disorders in Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) clinics requires targeted approaches due to the wide range of conditions affecting the vulva. Vulval diseases encompass various aetiologies, including dermatoses, pain syndromes, and pre-malignant conditions, necessitating specialized care often involving multidisciplinary collaboration. This guideline aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of specific vulval conditions that may present in GUM clinics. The focus is on conditions commonly managed by Genitourinary Physicians, either independently or in partnership with other specialists, depending on available local expertise. Additionally, guidance on onward referral is included to ensure optimal patient care. The guideline primarily addresses the management of individuals aged 16 years and older presenting to GUM clinics with non-infective vulval conditions. Recommendations within this guideline are derived from a review of existing literature, clinical expertise, and consensus among specialists. Emphasis is placed on diagnostic tests and treatment regimens tailored to the following conditions: Lichen sclerosus, Lichen planus, Eczema, Lichen simplex, Psoriasis, Vulval high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (previously vulval intraepithelial neoplasia), Vulval pain syndromes, and Non-sexually acquired acute genital ulceration (Ulcer of Lipschütz). This guideline offers practical recommendations for the effective management of specific vulval disorders in GUM settings. It is not intended to be a comprehensive review of all vulval diseases but rather a focused resource to assist clinicians in providing high-quality, patient-centred care. Onward referral pathways are also outlined to support collaborative and multidisciplinary management of complex cases.

A20 haploinsufficiency diagnosis beyond systemic lupus erythematosus: A systematic review of the literature.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease whose pathophysiology remains incompletely understood, involving genetic and epigenetic factors. However, an increasing small subset of patients present with monogenic lupus, providing insight into the pathogenesis of the disease. This systematic review focuses on SLE associated with A20 haploinsufficiency (HA20), a monogenic disorder associated with tumor necrosis factor alpha-induced protein 3 gene (TNFAIP3) variants. Besides the mainly auto-inflammatory phenotypic expression of HA20 mimicking Behçet's disease spectrum, some of its clinical and biological manifestations are part of the spectrum of autoimmune diseases, including glomerulonephritis as well as the frequent presence of antinuclear antibodies, sometimes with anti-DNA specificity. Among all the 191 HA20 patients reported in the literature, we identified 16 patients (8.4 %) with a compatible diagnosis of SLE. When estimable, the SLICC 2012 and EULAR/ACR 2019 classification criteria were positive for 92.9 % of them. A majority had multi-system involvement, mainly cutaneous (81.3 %), musculoskeletal (56.3 %), and/or renal (56.3 %) manifestations. They also seemed to exhibit differences compared to other SLE patients: higher prevalence of fever, chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus, oral and genital ulcers, neuropsychiatric manifestations, autoimmune cytopenia, and elevated biologic inflammatory markers. This review highlights the necessity of considering TNFAIP3 variants in SLE patients with early-onset disease, familial history, and/or specific clinical manifestations suggestive of autoinflammatory diseases. Recognizing HA20-SLE patients may improve our understanding of SLE pathogenesis and lead to better therapeutic strategies for these patients.

Behçet's disease: recurrent ischemic stroke as an initial presentation - a case based review.

Behçet's disease (BD) is a rare systemic vasculitis that is characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcers, uveitis, and skin lesions. Although neurological involvement is a known complication, ischemic stroke remains uncommon. Herein, we report a 37-year-old Kuwaiti woman who experienced recurrent ischemic stroke with no traditional risk factors. Imaging studies, including magnetic resonance imaging and angiography, confirmed the diagnosis of recurrent ischemic stroke and identified the underlying vasculitic changes. A detailed examination revealed a history of recurrent orogenital ulcers, leading to a diagnosis of BD. High-dose corticosteroids, azathioprine, and antiplatelet treatment were effectively used to manage her acute strokes and underlying vasculitis, thus preventing further thrombotic events. Our case report underscores the difficulties of diagnosing BD with ischemic stroke as the initial manifestation and emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach that involves rheumatologists, neurologists, and radiologists to create an effective treatment plan. Our findings also underscore the need for medical practitioners to be more knowledgeable about ischemic stroke in young patients without risk factors from endemic areas of BD, and to develop effective therapy plans. Our review of the English literature indicates that this is only the fifth report of stroke as the first presentation of BD.

Paradoxical Behçet’s Disease after Ixekizumab: A Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract Behçet’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects multiple organs and systems. It is characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcers. A previous study reported that the IL-17A inhibitor secukinumab can improve the skin and mucosal manifestations in patients with refractory Behçet’s disease. Additionally, secukinumab has been shown to effectively improve neurological symptoms when administered for Behçet’s disease. However, we report a case where Behçet’s disease occurred after the treatment of psoriasis with the IL-17A inhibitor ixekizumab. To summarize its clinical characteristics and treatment experience, we consulted relevant domestic and international literature and conducted a literature review. We concluded that anti-IL-17A treatment may lead to the development of Behçet’s disease. The reported cases are more likely to occur in middle-aged men with varying onset times. The main manifestations include oral and vulvar mucosal ulcers. Furthermore, the gut microbiota may be involved in paradoxical Behçet’s disease.

Knowledge and attitude towards Herpes Simplex Virus-2 in Al-Jouf region, Saudi Arabia.

Herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2) infection is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that causes genital ulcers. The prevalence of HSV-2 increases because of its asymptomatic shedding. This study aimed to evaluate community knowledge and attitude toward HSV-2 infection in Al-Jouf region. 410 participants were enrolled in the study and they filled out a questionnaire on HSV-2 and its complications. Of the 410 participants, 106 individuals were excluded from the study because they resided outside Al-Jouf. Of the remaining 304 participants, 56% were females, 44% were aged between 21-30 years, 84% were university graduates, 56% were single, and 40% were married. Only 58% of participants knew that HSV-2 is an STD, and less than 50% knew that HSV-2 infection can occur many times and can be transmitted from asymptomatic individuals. Regarding their attitude, only 32.5% participants agreed to use a condom if they had sores, 27% agreed to use the condom if they had more than one wife, and more than half of participants responded that they did not know. A considerable proportion of the youth (21-30 years old) did not know that HSV-2 infection is an STD that can occur many times, may remain asymptomatic, and is transmitted from asymptomatic partners or from the mother to her fetus. They were also not aware how to protect themselves from this infectious disease. Thus, educational and health awareness campaigns are required to raise the level of knowledge on HSV-2 infection, including its prevention, and control.

Cutaneous toxicity induced by antidepressants and second-generation antipsychotics in the united states food and drug administration adverse event reporting system.

Adverse cutaneous drug reactions have been reported with most drugs, including antidepressants (ADs) and second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs). The lack of extensive research on the relationship between ADs and SGAs, and cutaneous toxicity remains troubling. Our study aimed to assess the cutaneous toxicity of ADs and SGAs and provide valuable insights for clinical applications and scientific investigations. We conduct a pharmacovigilance study based of the United States Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database to analysis the relationship of ADs and SGAs and cutaneous adverse events. Reporting odds ratios (ROR) and information components (IC) were presented using statistical shrinkage transformation. Comparing ACDRs to other ADRs, each AD (fluoxetine (ROR025 = 1.49), fluvoxamine (ROR025 = 1.14), paroxetine (ROR025 = 1.49), escitalopram (ROR025 = 1.79), sertraline (ROR025 = 1.44), venlafaxine (ROR025 = 1.46) and duloxetine (ROR025 = 1.69)) showed significantly more cases. There was no association between SGA and cutaneous toxicity. The spectrum displayed strong signals in duloxetine-induced genital ulceration (IC025 = 2.75) and amisulpride-induced conjunctivitis (IC025 = 2.56). This study provides a valuable foundation for clinical practice and medication monitoring by thoroughly analyzing, methodically evaluating, and quantifying the potential dermal toxicity of ADs and SGAs.

Comparison of the sexual behaviors and syndromic diagnosis between rural and urban cases in east-central India: A retrospective hospital-based study

Objectives: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a significant public health challenge in India. Limited healthcare access, socioeconomic inequalities, and gender-based vulnerabilities contribute to the disproportionate burden in rural and urban areas. The aim of this study was to compare the sociodemographic profile, sexual behavior, and the syndromic diagnosis of STIs between rural and urban cases attending an STI clinic. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional retrospective study was conducted at an STI clinic in east-central region of India. All patients, irrespective of age and sex, who visited the clinic from July 2022 to November 2023, were included in the study. Demographic, clinical, and behavioral data were compared between urban and rural cases using appropriate statistical methods. Results: Out of 925 patients, rural and urban cases were 70.8% and 29.2%, respectively. Rural cases: 92.2% females, 7.8% male; urban cases: 81.1% females, 18.9% males. The majority were aged 20 -40 years. There were more cases aged below 20 years from urban areas (6.3% vs. 2.7%; P < 0.01). Illiterate cases were more from rural area (P < 0.01); and those educated >10th grade from urban area (P < 0.01). The predominant occupation was homemakers and incomes ranged between Rs 5000 and 10000. In both rural and urban areas, lower abdomen pain was the most common symptom, followed by vaginal discharge. Genital herpes (P < 0.01) and syphilitic genital ulcers to syphilis (P = 0.01) were more common in urban areas compared to rural. Retroviral infection was reported to be similar from both areas.: Mean age of sexual debut was 19.5 years in rural and 20.2 year in cases from urban areas (P < 0.01). Time since last sexual encounter (21.2 vs. 20.3 days, P = 0.01), and cases with multiple partners (4.1% vs. 8.8%; P < 0.01) were different in cases from rural and urban cases. The difference in drug abuse and contact with sex worker were not significantly different between the groups. Limitations: Retrospective study design, hospital-based study setting and lack of microbiological confirmation were the limitations of this study. Conclusion: There were disparities in the sociodemographic profile, STI patterns, and sexual behavior between rural and urban cases of the east-central zone of India.

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Sexually Transmitted Infections in a Tertiary Hospital in Surakarta, Indonesia

Background: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a significant public health concern globally, with millions of new cases occurring annually. Understanding the prevalence and risk factors associated with STIs is crucial for effective prevention and control programs. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of STIs among patients attending the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, a tertiary hospital in Surakarta, Indonesia. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted using secondary data from medical records of patients diagnosed with STIs between January 2020 and December 2023. Data collected included sociodemographic characteristics, sexual behaviors, clinical diagnoses, and HIV status. Descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: A total of 249 patients were diagnosed with STIs during the study period. The most common STI was condyloma acuminata (51%), followed by male genital discharge (18.1%), female vaginal discharge (16%), other STIs (10.9%), and genital ulcers (4%). The majority of patients were male (62.2%), aged 25-44 years (49.1%), had a high school education (49.5%), and reported heterosexual orientation (67.1%). Multiple sexual partners were reported by 62.7% of the participants, and 36.1% were HIV positive. The correlation analysis reveals that various sociodemographic, behavioral, and health-related factors are associated with different STIs. Conclusion: Condyloma acuminata was the most prevalent STI among patients attending the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Moewardi General Hospital. Understanding these correlations can help healthcare providers identify individuals at higher risk for specific STIs and implement targeted prevention and intervention strategies. Targeted interventions focusing on these high-risk groups are needed to reduce the burden of STIs in Surakarta, Indonesia.

A structural equation modelling to explore the determinants of mental health disorders among reproductive-aged women in Nepal: a nation-wide cross-sectional survey

BackgroundSimilar to other countries, reproductive-age women in Nepal frequently encounter diverse mental disorders, yet they receive inadequate screening and attention. This research seeks to address this gap by conducting a comprehensive examination of the prevalence and factors associated with mental disorders of reproductive-age women in Nepal.MethodsThis study used the nationally representative Nepal Demographic and Health Survey 2022 dataset to examine the association between mental disorders and potential confounders. Screening tools for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) were employed, and descriptive and inferential statistics, including linear regression and structural equation modeling, were utilized in the analysis.ResultsThe study found that 22% of Nepalese women aged 15 to 49 reported anxiety symptoms, while 5% reported depressive symptoms. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) reveals that anxiety had the most significant positive effect on depression (β = 0.683, p < 0.001), followed by emotional violence (β = 0.139, p < 0.001). Marital status (β = 0.072, p < 0.001) and the presence of genital discharge (β = 0.084, p < 0.001) or ulcer (β = 0.058, p < 0.001) in the last 12 months were also associated with higher levels of depression. Conversely, self-rated health status (β=-0.121, p < 0.001) was negatively associated with depression, indicating that better-perceived health was linked to lower levels of depression.ConclusionAlthough the prevalence of anxiety symptoms is higher than that of depression, there is a positive relationship between these two. Consequently, it is crucial to address the identified factors contributing to anxiety and depression in this population group through behavioral and policy interventions to enhance the mental well-being of reproductive-age women.

A scientometric study on research trends and characteristics of Behçet's disease

Background/purpose: Behçet's disease (BD) is a chronic systemic vasculitis characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcers, skin lesions, and uveitis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the scientometric characteristics and research trends of BD. Materials and methodsAll the articles on BD were comprehensively retrieved from the Scopus database. Regional comparison (Turkey versus outside of Turkey) and chronological comparison (before 2010 versus after 2010) were performed. ResultsAmong the 7023 articles on BD, Turkey was the country publishing most articles (2012 articles). In Turkey, questionnaire, quality of life, depression, and scoring system were distinctive keywords. In outside of Turkey, allele, gene expression, cytokine, interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and phenotype were distinctive keywords. The trend of diagnostics mainly angiography before 2010 has changed to computed tomographic angiography, echocardiography, and optical coherence tomography. The trend of biology research has changed to research on metabolism, gene expression, allele, biomarkers, and genetic susceptibility after 2010. The trend of drug aspects mainly oral drug administration before 2010 has changed to drug withdrawal, drug dose reduction, drug safety, drug megadose, adalimumab, thalidomide, and salazosulfapyridine after 2010. ConclusionThis scientometric study elucidated the current scenario and research trends of BD, and would help in improving in reciprocal collaboration and communication for investigations on this disease.

A Triple Therapeutic Regiment Consisted of Colchicine, Thalidomide and Total Glucosides of Paeony Is Effective and Well-Tolerated for Treating Mucocutaneous Involvement in Patients With Behcet's Disease.

This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of a triple therapy consisting of colchicine, thalidomide and total glucosides of paeony (TGP) in Behcet's disease (BD) patients with mucocutaneous involvement. Totally 355 newly diagnosed BD patients with mucocutaneous involvement were recruited, who received dexamethasone and colchicine for the first 2 weeks, then they were categorized into "sustained triple-therapy (ST)" (n = 231) and "colchicine to triple-therapy (CT)" (n = 124) groups respectively: for ST group, patients received colchicine, thalidomide plus TGP from Month (M)0.5 to M12; for CT group, patients received colchicine from M0.5 to M2, then switched to colchicine, thalidomide plus TGP from M3 to M12. The percentages of oral ulceration (at M1, M2) and genital ulceration (at M1) were lower in ST group compared to CT group, whereas there was no difference of other clinical manifestations (including uveitis, erythema nodosum, thrombosis, arterial involvement or nervous system involvement) at each time point between the two groups. For biochemical indexes, ESR was higher at M1 but rapidly reduced at M2 in ST group compared to CT group, while CRP level was similar at all time points between the two groups. For side effects, occurrences of drug-related cytopenia and diarrhea were increased, in ST group compared to CT group. A triple therapy consisting of colchicine, thalidomide and TGP is more effective and equally tolerated compared to colchicine alone in treating BD patients with mucocutaneous involvement.

Herpes vegetans mimicking penile malignancy in a patient living with human immunodeficiency virus.

A 51-year-old man with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection presented to the dermatology clinic with a 2-year history of recurrent penile ulceration and a large, fungating, exophytic mass with ulceration. Histopathology revealed no evidence of malignancy, hepes simplex viruses 1 and 2 were detected on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and a diagnosis of herpes vegetans was made. The patient was treated succesfully with oral valaciclovir resulting in complete resolution of lesions.

Prevalence and social determinants of self-reported health status among reproductive age women in Nepal.

The self-reported health status (SRHS) is a subjective evaluation of an individual's health and has been connected to mortality and future health outcomes in numerous studies. However, the determinants of SRHS among women in Nepal remain largely unclear. In Nepal, traditional gender norms often result in women bearing greater responsibilities in terms of household chores, child-rearing, and taking care of elderly family members, all of which may potentially contribute to lower self-perceived health. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors influencing SRHS among women in Nepal. The study utilized data from 7,442 women aged between 15 and 49 who participated in the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) 2022. Both univariate and multiple linear regression analyses were employed to ascertain the factors influencing self-rated health status (SRHS) among women in Nepal. Women in the age groups 15-24years (AOR: 5.14, 95% CI: 3.07-8.62) and 25-34years (AOR: 2.71, 95% CI: 1.99-3.68) were more likely to report good health status compared to older age groups. Additionally, women who were never married (AOR: 4.89, 95% CI: 3.62-5.32) or currently married (AOR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.11-2.20) and those from wealthy families (AOR: 1.54, 95% CI: 1.07-2.21), also had a higher likelihood of reporting good health status. Other factors associated with a higher probability of reporting good health included not having a history of terminated pregnancy (AOR: 1.48, 95% CI: 1.11-1.97), having no history of genital discharge (AOR: 1.75, 95% CI: 1.29-2.38), not visiting a health facility in the last 12months (AOR: 2.03, 95% CI: 1.43-2.88), and having no genital ulcers in the previous 12months (AOR: 2.02, 95% CI: 1.24-3.28). Conversely, women with mild to severe depression and anxiety were less likely to report good health status compared to those with no depression or anxiety. This study identified several social determinants of SRHS among Nepalese women. These socioeconomic determinants of health should be included in future research and health policy activities in Nepal and other comparable contexts.

Assessment of liver x receptor messenger RNA beta and microRNA-146a in a group of Egyptian patients with Behçet’s disease

Abstract Background and objectives Behçet’s disease (BD) is an ongoing systemic vasculitis with mouth and genital ulceration and eye, skin, and systemic affection. It has considerable morbidity and mortality, and a high incidence and a higher male-to-female affection characterize Egypt. We aimed to evaluate liver x receptor messenger RNA beta (LXR β) and microRNA-146a (miR-146a) gene expression in Behçet’s disease cases in Egypt to relate them with clinicopathological features. Subject and method Eighty Egyptian individuals were split into two groups for the current study: Forty Behçet’s disease cases and forty healthy controls matched by age and gender from the Rheumatology Department at Helwan University Hospital, Egypt. The transformed score, also known as the Behçet’s Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF), was utilized to measure disease activity. To assess the amounts of LXR β and miR-146a serum expression via real-time PCR, a blood sample was obtained. Results There was a downregulation of both LXR β and miR-146a levels that significantly differed between the BD group and the control group (p = 0.0001 and 0.0001, respectively). There is a noteworthy inverse relationship between the expression level of LXR β and BDCAF Patients Index (r = − 0.79 and p = 0.0001) was found. Regarding miR-146a, it had a reverse correlation with BDCAF Patients Index (r = − 0.89 and p = 0.0001). Conclusion LXR β and miR-146a were found to be significant non-invasive predictor biomarkers for Behçet’s disease and can indicate disease activity.

Breaking Barriers: Addressing STI Healthcare Access Challenges among Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

Background: The Rohingya refugee crisis, stemming from Myanmar's Rakhine State, has led to a significant displacement of nearly a million Rohingya seeking refuge in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar district. Among the myriad health challenges faced by this population, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) present a pressing concern. The study aimed to explore the burden of STIs among Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, by examining the prevalence of STIs, associated risk factors and access to healthcare services. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to December 2023, involving 150 Rohingya refugees residing in refugee camps in Cox's Bazar. Data collection included demographic characteristics, STI symptoms, healthcare-seeking behavior, perceived barriers to healthcare access and access to transportation. Descriptive statistics, bivariate correlation analysis and logistic regression were employed for data analysis. Results: Preliminary findings revealed a high prevalence of STI symptoms among Rohingya refugees, with 20.0% experiencing genital ulcers, 33.3% reporting vaginal discharge and 26.7% suffering from painful urination. However, only 46.7% sought treatment from healthcare providers, with perceived barriers such as financial constraints (40.0%) and lack of awareness (26.7%) hindering access to healthcare. Conclusion: By shedding light on the complex interplay of demographic, socioeconomic and healthcare-related factors, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the health challenges faced by displaced populations and underscores the importance of tailored healthcare strategies in humanitarian settings. Finding of celiac disease during the study of Kimura disease in a Caucasian male.

We present the case of a 27-year-old man, with no previous diseases, who was referred to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology in May 2023 for a 2-cm right submandibular lymphadenopathy of two month's evolution. He did not report fever or night sweats, and no oral or genital ulcers were observed. He presented eosinophilia in the analysis performed and a maculopapular exanthema on the left leg and malleolus areas, which was initially treated with topical antibiotic and corticosteroids. A soft tissue ultrasound revealed two right laterocervical lymphadenopathies at levels I and II. Given the suspicion of a primary hematological tumor, a PET-CT scan was conducted to complete the study, which revealed hypermetabolic laterocervical bilateral lymphadenopaties. In June 2023, a programmed cervicotomy was conducted, with complete excision of the right main lymphadenopathy in the Ib region, which showed a histological result of reactive lymphadenitis with intense eosinophilia, vascular proliferation, and fibrosis. These findings suggest Kimura disease as the first possibility. Due to sporadic episodes of choking that were not associated with specific food, persistent elevated IgE levels and eosinophilia in peripheral blood tests, and skin alterations, the study was completed with a gastroscopy to rule out the presence of eosinophilic esophagitis, which showed erosive duodenitis, with villous shortening and increased lymphoplasmacytic cellularity of the lamina propria, findings consistent with celiac disease, which was afterwards confirmed with the presence of positive anti-endomysial and transglutaminase antibodies, and the presence of HLA-DQ8 positive in homozygosis in the genetic study. The patient started systemic treatment with corticosteroids and gluten-free diet, which he continues to take at present.

BackgroundThe purpose of the study was to assess the prevalence and associated factors of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and past 12-month suicidal behaviour (PSB) among adolescents in Mozambique.MethodsData from 3,109 females (aged 15–19 years) and 1,439 males (aged 15–19 years) that participated in the 2022-23 Mozambique Demographic and health Survey were analysed. MDD was assessed with the PHQ-9 and GAD with the GAD-7.ResultsResults indicate that among girls the prevalence of PSB was 4.3% (attempt 1.0%, plan 1.9% and/or ideation 3.6%) and among boys 2.5% (attempt 0.3%, plan 0.7% and/or ideation 2.4%). Among girls and boys, the prevalence of MDD (≥ 8 scores) was 15.5% and 3.7%, respectively, and the prevalence of GAD (≥ 5 scores) was 25.0% and 10.3%, respectively. In adjusted logistic regression analysis, among girls, GAD was positively and solid fuel use was negatively associated with PSB, while among boys MDD and urban residence were positively associated with PSB. Among female adolescents, currently being pregnant and “big problem to get money for medical treatment” increased the odds of MDD. While among male adolescents, urban residence, having a genital sore or ulcer, has living children, and early sexual debut were positively associated with MDD. Urban residence, current alcohol use, and early sexual debut were positively associated with GAD in male adolescents, while poorer wealth status, being pregnant, and having a “big problem to get money for medical treatment” were positively associated with GAD in female adolescents.ConclusionAbout 3% of participants had PSB, among girls one in five had MDD or GAD and among boys more than 5% had MDD or GAD. Public health interventions can be guided by several associated factors that have been identified.
