To the Editor.— This letter is not intended to reduce Dr Gary Rapaport's 1 compassion or anyone else's for our homeless population. He writes that 10% of these people were hypertensive, 5% were arthritic, and 2% were diabetic when seen in a Los Angeles medical center emergency room. At my general practice office, 30% of my patients are hypertensive, 25% complain of arthritis, and 20% are diabetic. Many are all three. I am advising my patients to leave their houses and take to the road.
