Una aproximación a la etiología de la desigualdad de género

Gender equality seen from the perspective of gender differences, which is involved in its origin by the phylogeny and ontogeny of both sexes and its relation to the acquisition of values and the development of the formal and informal educational scaffolding of the individual throughout his life. The existence of unequal behavior between the sexes may be due, according to this study, to a misperception of gender equality by education developed at different stages of a person's life. Reflecting the work presented in the study through three dimensions: biological, normative and cultural.

中年期の結婚コミットメントがジェネラティビティと主観的幸福感に及ぼす影響――ジェンダー差を中心に

本研究は，中年期夫婦を対象に，結婚生活のあり方がジェネラティビティと主観的幸福感にどう影響するかを男女で比較することを目的とした。対象者は40～64歳の配偶者のいる中年期男女で（男性362名，女性480名），結婚コミットメント，ジェネラティビティ，主観的幸福感が尋ねられた。愛情と関連の高い人格的コミットメントは男性ではジェネラティビティを高めるが，女性は関連がみられず，むしろ主観的幸福感を高めていた。諦め・機能的コミットメントはジェネラティビティを低減させ，かつ主観的幸福感も低下させていた。規範的コミットメントはジェンダー差なくジェネラティビティを高めていたが，主観的幸福感には全く影響しなかった。男性は結婚生活の安定がジェネラティビティに結びつくが，女性では配偶者との関係の良否はジェネラティビティではなく主観的幸福感と結びついていた。結婚生活のあり方がジェンダーの視点から論じられた。

A Study of Refusal Speech Act in Chinese Dating Programs ——Take "If You Are The One" As an Example

Looking at the development of China dating programs, If You Are The One in Jiang Su satellite TV is the heated program drawing much attention from the public. There are some papers focusing on the dialogue in the program from the perspective of linguistic features or pragmatic function, but there are few papers on the refusal speech act in such programs. Based on the classified oral language data in the program, this paper studies the refusal speech act when male or female guest was asked to build a love relationship with someone. Under the guidance of the face theory (Brown & Levinson), Politeness principle (Leech), we analysize the pragmatical difference of different refusal speech act. In addition, from the perspective of gender difference the study analyzes different refusal speech act patterns conducted by male and female guests in dating program and we find that men behave generally more direct while women are more euphemistic and polite in refusal speech act. A Perspective of Gender Differences in Chemistry and Physics Undergraduate Research Experiences

The loss of talented women from the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) pipeline has been widely recognized within science education as a pressing issue, particularly in the physical sciences. To provide a gender-based perspective of a popular educational device, the present study evaluated undergraduate research experiences (UREs) from a longitudinal perspective in respect to participation, learning enhancements, and contribution to the pursuit of a postgraduate education. Data from practicing scientists and graduate students indicated that women were more likely to participate in these research programs than their male counterparts. Of those who had participated (n = 1829), similar patterns in conferred gains for men and women were reported; however, gender-based variations were observed within items associated with self-efficacy, science interest, and the practice of authentic research. Women were found to identify UREs as a primary reason for entering graduate school at a significantly higher rate than their male counterparts. Results of this study suggest the long-term efficacy of UREs as a gateway for women interested in STEM careers and provide support in justifying research programs and initiatives for women in traditionally male-dominated fields.

Gender differences in condom use prediction with Theory of Reasoned Action and Planned Behaviour: The role of self-efficacy and control

There is much evidence that demonstrates that programs and interventions based on the theoretical models of the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) and the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) have been effective in the prevention of the sexual transmission of HIV. The objective of this work is to compare the effectiveness of both models in the prediction of condom use, distinguishing two components inside the variable Perceived Behavioural Control of the TPB model: self-efficacy and control. The perspective of gender differences is also added. The study was carried out in a sample of 601 Portuguese and Spanish university students. The results show that the females have a higher average in all the TPB variables than males, except in the frequency of condom use: females request the use of condoms less frequently than males. On the other hand, for both females and males the TPB model predicts better condom-use intention than the TRA. However there are no differences between the two models in relation to the prediction of condom-use behaviour. For prediction of intention, the most outstanding variable among females is attitude, while among males they are subjective norm and self-efficacy. Finally, we analyze the implications of these data from a theoretical and practical point of view.
