Abstract The lack of rubbish dump capacity has led to the emergence of illegal rubbish dumps in Kupang City. Temporary rubbish dumps as transit locations for waste from sub-districts to final disposal places make the role of temporary rubbish dumps. Therefore, to study temporary waste disposal sites in Kupang City. This research examines temporary waste disposal sites based on the zoning of parts of the city area (BWK). This research is quantitative and qualitative. Qualitative data collection techniques used interviews through group discussion forums. Evaluation analysis of temporary waste disposal sites using geographic information systems (GIS) with IDW. The research results show waste accumulation in 2023 in Kupang City will be 2876714.5 L/day. The number of waste piles with the capacity of temporary rubbish disposal sites included in the appropriate category is in BWK I. The very insufficient category is in BWK II, BWK V, and BWK VII. There is a need to build 366 rubbish dumps with a container type with a volume of 6 m3 and 122 rubbish dumps with a permanent type with a volume of 1.5 m3 to overcome the shortage of rubbish dumps capacity in the next five years.
