The article highlights the peculiarities of the work of social workers with young people inthe State Employment Service. It is established that social workers working in the Employment Center play an important role in job search. The functions of social workers in this center are listed. It is established that the State Employment Service is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. The rights of the employed population guaranteed by the state during employment are listed. The types of services provided by the Khrystynivka District Employment Center to employers are described. Statistics of persons registered with the Khrystynivka District Employment Center are presented.Ukraine has many problems, and they have become even more numerous since the start of the war. These events have created a number of difficulties in both the economic and social spheres. Unemployment is one of the most important problems of our time. The State Employment Service (SES) is one of the most important institutions both in developing employment policy and labor market regulation at the national level and in stimulating employment in the regions. Building the capacity of the State Employment Service at the national, regional and local levels is one of the important prerequisites for improving the quality and efficiency of services to the unemployed and employers.Social workers play an important role in helping people who come to the employment center, acting not only as intermediaries between employers and young people, but also as active participants in the process of creating favorable conditions for labor self-realization and career development of young people. In this context, it is important to consider the aspects of social workers’ work aimed at fostering social responsibility, developing skills, and increasing the competitiveness of young people in the labor market.

The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the duties or functions of social workers as advocates, counselors and educators in the social rehabilitation of children dealing with the law at BRSAMPK Toddopuli Makassar. The type of research used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques, the primary data is done by structured and semi-structured interviews while the secondary data is by library research. The results of the study found that the role of social workers as advocates is one of the roles that is often used by social workers at the Toddopuli Children's Social Rehabilitation Center (BRSAMPK) to provide assistance to children who are in conflict with the law in court proceedings starting from preparing all children's social reports. and referrals if possible the child has other needs. The role of social workers as educators for children dealing with the law at the Toddopuli social rehabilitation center for children requiring special protection (BRSAMPK), namely providing education both knowledge and skills for empowering children, conducting supervision, compiling educational activities. The role of social workers as counselors for children dealing with the law is in the social rehabilitation center for children requiring special protection (BRSAMPK) Toddopuli, namely providing motivation to children, helping children to be responsible in solving or facing problems, providing suggestions and solutions to children so that children can immediately solve problems , formulate or discuss problems or conduct case conferences if the social worker does not find a solution to a child's problem.

SOCIAL WORK IN THE SYSTEM OF ASSISTANCE TO THE PERSONS WITH ADDICTIVE EATING BEHAVIOR

The article is devoted to the topical problem of psychosocial assistance to people with addictive eating behavior, which is common among teenagers and young people, leads to tragic consequences, but still lacks a sufficient scientific basis and a comprehensive solution. The purpose of the study is to determine the place of social work and the content of the social workers’ activity in the system of assistance to persons with addictive eating behavior. Theoretical analysis of research of the food deviations problem, the concrete definition of terms «dysfunctional eating», «eating disorders», content and comparative analysis of professional functions of social workers in the context of helping people with addictive eating behavior are used as methods to achieve the goal of the research. It is determined that the professional activity of a social worker with persons with dysfunctional and disordered eating takes place in medical institutions, social services and secondary schools. The most common task of social work with persons with food addictions is the prevention. Special functions of a social worker in an inpatient (medical) institution are administrative and organizational work with eating disorders patient. Educational, social support and rehabilitation function are predominant in the activities of a social worker in social institutions. Instead, the specialist carries out for the most part diagnostics and monitoring, formation of eating habits, socio-pedagogical support of young people with dysfunctional eating in educational institutions. The leading role of a social worker at all stages of intervention and the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the prevention, correction and rehabilitation of people with addictive eating behavior are identified.

Exploring the Context of Fitness to Practise Concerns About Social Workers in England: Explanations Beyond Individuals

ABSTRACTThere is a disproportionate number of complaints about social workers in England to the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) as compared with the other health care professionals regulated by HCPC. This paper discusses findings from interviews and focus groups that formed part of a mixed methods study that aimed to find out the reasons for complaints and the strategies that may reduce complaints. Four themes were identified: social work as an evolving profession; social work involves challenging practice; social work takes place in a pressurised environment; and public perceptions and expectations of social work are often negative and unrealistic. Findings highlight explanations that focus on organisational culture and public responses to social workers’ control functions. We argue that, at a time of change for the profession, there is a need for public education regarding the role and function of social workers and for regulators to have more proactive engagement with registrants and employers.

Servants of a ‘sinking titanic’ or actors of change? Contested identities of social workers in Sweden

ABSTRACTHistorically, social workers have been an integral part of a well-developed welfare state in Sweden. However, due to the neoliberal changes, which have seen the weakening of the support system for vulnerable groups and individuals, the traditional ‘solidary role’ of social workers has rapidly altered. This has created uncertainty and dilemmas for the identification of many social workers, who still perceive themselves as promoters of ‘welfare of the people’. This article dwells, therefore, on neoliberal transformations and the changing professional identity of practitioners. The study is based on a comprehensive empirical work of interviews with social workers. The results show a growing and widespread unease with new professional roles and functions of social workers as bureaucrats within a neoliberalised organisation of public social work. Some social workers still try to find creative and new ways of working in solidarity, while others, although critical, see adjustment to the new organisational frames as a way to continue their work. It is argued that social workers are not passive actors in the process of neoliberalisation of public social work in Sweden but could actively take different stances and choose their own identifications, in order to maintain the solidary role of social workers.

Mental health in vietnam and the move to incorporate social work: A mixed methods study of staff perceptions and expectations

ABSTRACTIn 2010, Vietnam established social work as a profession. As part of their strategic plan, the government aims to incorporate social work into existing hospitals and health care facilities in the country, including psychiatric hospitals and mental health care centers. This paper, based upon survey and focus group data from 194 people working in three major mental health facilities in Hanoi, explores direct care staffs’ perceptions of this historic incorporation of social work, with a particular eye to the benefits and challenges of the transition. Results show most staff members thought social workers would provide great support to the many unmet needs of their largely underserved and impoverished patients. They also viewed social workers as a potential resource to the treatment team by reducing work overload. Existing staff, however, were less attuned to the clinical functions of social workers in mental health settings, often equating social work with community development and social movements. Some were concerned about social workers taking on their tasks; others about new social workers being hindered by the professional hierarchy in which doctors were placed at the top. Successful integration of social workers will hinge on strong support from policy-makers and leaders of mental health systems.

Social work: Integral to interprofessional education and integrated practice

Abstract Although the debate on US health care reform is ongoing, existing policy has expanded access to preventative and treatment services through new models of integrated care. This has resulted in the creation of interprofessional healthcare teams comprised in part of social workers who undertake brief behavioral health intervention, care management, and service referral. To promote patient care and population health, integrating social workers onto interprofessional teams requires educating all members of the healthcare team on the roles and functions of social workers. A case vignette is included to demonstrate how interprofessional teams can use the skills of social workers to offer brief, evidence-supported interventions and inform team-based care. Suggestions are offered for moving forward to increase the participation of social work in IPE and practice settings.

The Role of Social Work in National Development

Although many attempts have been made to define social work, there have been some disagreements in trying to come up with a universal definition of social work. Thus, without a general agreement on what constitutes social work, it is difficult to definitively delineate what the roles and functions of social are or should be. Be that as it may, various scholars have attempted to develop definitions of social work, ranging from the seemingly simple and straightforward ones to the relatively complex and comprehensive, including the following.According to Farley and Smith (2006:7), “social is an art, a science, a profession that helps people to solve personal, group (especially family), and community problems and to attain satisfying personal, group, and community relationships through social practice”. Probably the most comprehensive, authoritative and most widely used definitions of the concept is the one that states that social is “a profession which promotes social change, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Utilizing theories of human behavior and social systems, social intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. Культурно-просветительская деятельность как фактор стабилизации современного российского социума

Culture in different forms of its manifestation is a necessary factor in the progressive development of modern society. Cultural factor regulates norms of social behavior and determines social status of a personality, provides economic and social stability, civil consent and tolerant coexistence of all segments of society. The full social insurance of citizens should provide guaranteed satisfaction not only their physical but also spiritual needs. The decline in living standards in modern Russian reality limits the possibility of familiarizing the general public to the true cultural values. And this raises the task of the moral and aesthetic development of the personality in a number of very significant social problems. Socially-oriented cultural and educational activity contributes their solution. It is carried out in a variety of forms: from certain regional-scaled actions, to the resonance events at national and international levels (free exhibitions, charity concerts, lectures, performances, etc.). Domestic tourism is another direction of socially oriented cultural and educational activities. The development of tourism programs, taking into account the availability of tourist attraction for social groups, allows to enforce the rights of pensioners, the disabled, orphans, war and labor veterans, low-income citizens in familiarizing to cultural values. Creation of special guided tours and tourism programs across the native land for the social category of tourists, as well as staff training combining the functions of social workers and guides with skills to provide first medical and psychological care are an urgent task. This requires not only seeking funding from national and regional budgets, but also involvement of sponsors and volunteers, primarily students, who are mastering the professions associated with the service and tourism. The implementation of socially oriented cultural and educational projects will successfully contribute to the solution of fundamental problems, aimed at humanization of the social environment, overcoming the negative effects of anti-social occurrences, the increasing importance of spiritual values in modern Russian society.

Earthquake and Disaster Response in the Japanese Community: A Strengths and Community Perspective

This article indicates that capability building in the local community and accumulation of collaborative practice experiences gained at the local community level prove effective in actual disaster response and recovery. A case study of the Japanese community is introduced to illustrate this point. The article concludes with a discussion of the role and function of social workers in the context of such a community. In terms of disaster response and recovery, one of the essential roles of social workers is to encourage local people to empower other local people, organizations, and community.

O presente artigo versa sobre a intervenção do Serviço Social nos processos de mobilização e organização popular e, particularmente, sobre o debate contemporâneo que vem sendo realizado sobre o tema. Este debate é apresentado nas elaborações acadêmicas de autoras que tratam especialmente das funções pedagógica e educativa do assistente social e de sua inserção nas organizações da classe trabalhadora. Nesta sistematização, priorizam-se as formulações que vêm adquirindo relevância no debate profissional e que tecem algumas considerações necessárias para a análise e as prospectivas da relação da profissão com os processos de mobilização e organização popular.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration Between Social Workers and Dieticians in Nutrition Education Programs for Children-at-Risk

Bio-psycho-social risk factors may lead to situations of poor nutrition of children. However, despite the multiple risk factors involved in such situations, interdisciplinary collaboration between experts in the psycho-social dimensions and experts in the bio-dimension of poor nutrition has not been a common model of practice. An evaluation was conducted in Israel of the experience of collaboration between social workers and dieticians in leading nutrition-education programs. A qualitative methodology was implemented with 22 participants. The findings illuminate the potential that interdisciplinary collaboration has to enhance the response of each of the professions to the risks for poor nutrition. The barriers affecting collaboration are: (a) role ambiguity about the non-administrative functions of social workers; (b) the dieticians' lack of sufficient familiarity with the life circumstances of low-income families and how to adjust the nutrition-related contents to their circumstances; and (c) difficulties to achieve a balance between the structured methods of knowledge delivery of the dieticians and the less structured methods of intervention of social workers. The findings illuminate the significance of incorporating suitable approaches into the collaboration for reducing these barriers.

The Nursing Home Crisis

This article discusses the findings of a consumer-oriented survey to ascertain the perceptions of Texas nursing home residents, their families, and nursing home administrators about what factors they believe contribute to quality of care. The findings from previous studies and established practice standards are then used to further delineate the practice roles and functions of social workers in nursing facilities (NFs) and to inform social work curriculum.

Advanced medical technology: The ethical implications for social work practice with the dying

Abstract This article will address the complexity of ethical issues generated by the availability and use of advanced medical technology with those who are terminally ill. It will explore the impact of such technologies on the patient and the family, and pay particular attention to the consequences for the social worker in health care. Through the use of case studies, the article will illustrate the critical issues surrounding such ethical dilemmas as experienced by the social worker. It will clarify the role and function of social workers who will be faced with these types of ethical dilemmas in their practice with those who are dying.

The activities of social workers employed by a public health nursing agency were studied. The data suggested that nurses and social workers collaborate more than prior studies have shown but also suggested that the nurses were selective in their decisions to refer cases to social workers. The study raised questions about the clarity of the agency's expectations of social workers and of nurses.
