Abstract
Abstract This article will address the complexity of ethical issues generated by the availability and use of advanced medical technology with those who are terminally ill. It will explore the impact of such technologies on the patient and the family, and pay particular attention to the consequences for the social worker in health care. Through the use of case studies, the article will illustrate the critical issues surrounding such ethical dilemmas as experienced by the social worker. It will clarify the role and function of social workers who will be faced with these types of ethical dilemmas in their practice with those who are dying.
