Political Constitution of Peru for the election of congressmen and their functions of the congress.This research used a mixed methods study, applied type, with a cross-sectional, non-experimental, and simple correlational design, also, the positivist, post-positivist, interpretative and socio-critical paradigms were applied. The survey and interview technique was used, applying two questionnaires and an interview guide as instruments. Finally, a direct correlation of moderate magnitude (rs=.37) was determined between the requirements for the election of congressmen and the function of congress. Additionally, a direct correlation of small magnitude was found between being Peruvian by birth (rs=.22) and the minimum age is 25 (rs=.20) with the function of congress, while the correlation between the right to vote and the function of congress is direct and moderate (rs=.35). In addition, most of the interviewees said that the requirements are not suitable, since they are not in favor of the common good, so their work should be supervised, but in an autonomous manner, through an institution responsible for the transparency of their function of congress.
