The EU strongly encourages the use of natural products in plant protection. Natural extracts are increasingly used in controlling plant-parasitic nematodes, while the effects on the structure and function of non-target soil organisms have been poorly investigated. This work aimed at investigating the impact of abamectin, azadirachtin, and allium extract on the structure of soil free-living nematode community in potted ornamental plants of Acer palmatum and x Cupressocyparis leylandii by soil nematode indicators. Abamectin and Azadirachtin negatively affected the soil nematode community, but the effect was transitory. The nematode indicators showed that the nematode community responded quickly and negatively to treatments with natural extracts. The plant parasitic index (PPI) and enrichment index (EI) were the most representative due to their strong decrease after pest control treatment, especially after Fenamiphos applications. From a phytosanitary point of view, natural extract showed their potential in the IPM strategy only when they were applied in combination with other chemicals.
