The relevance of the study of the specifics of the formation of social activity of student youth in leisure activities is to find a favorable environment and tools to facilitate this process. Despite the latest living conditions (virtualization of social space, partial movement of the main activities to the Internet, transformation and development of inter-social problems, uncontrollability of virtual space, etc.), informatization has covered most of the leading types of students' activities, including leisure activities. Leisure activities as one of the integral components of student’s life, forms a flexible and mobile environment to facilitate the formation of social activity. The leisure activities of students in the information society are the value-based free election and active participation of students in order to satisfy the physical, spiritual and social needs in the leisure spatial and institutional environment of the information age, consisting of the extracurricular space of a higher education institutions, an open sphere of leisure, virtual leisure environment represented by a variety of ICTs, with the aim of developing socially significant qualities of this social group (social creativity, social responsibility, initiative, mobility, determination, etc.). The analysis of modern traditional and the latest leisure activities of students allowed us to determine the specifics of the formation of student’s social activity in leisure time.
