The real-world safety of oseltamivir and baloxavir marboxil in children: a disproportionality analysis of the FDA adverse event reporting system.

Oseltamivir and baloxavir marboxil are the two primary oral drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating influenza. Limited real-world evidence exists on their adverse events in children. The purpose of this study was to explore the adverse event (AE) profiles of oseltamivir and baloxavir marboxil in children based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database. FAERS reports were collected and analyzed from the first quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2023. Disproportionality analyses, including the reporting odds ratio (ROR), the proportional reporting ratio (PRR), the Bayesian confidence propagation neural network (BCPNN), and the multi-item gamma Poisson shrinker (MGPS) algorithms, were employed in data mining to quantify the signals of oseltamivir and baloxavir marboxil-related AEs. A total of 464 reports of AEs to oseltamivir as the "primary suspect (PS)" and 429 reports of AEs to baloxavir marboxil as the "PS" were retrieved in pediatric patients. A total of 100 oseltamivir-induced AE signals were detected in 17 system organ classes (SOCs), and 11 baloxavir marboxil-induced AE signals were detected in 6 SOCs after complying with the four algorithms simultaneously. Categorized and summarized by the number of reports of involvement in each SOC, the top 3 for oseltamivir were psychiatric disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, general disorders and site-of-administration conditions, respectively. The top 3 for baloxavir marboxil were injury, poisoning and surgical complications, general disorders and site of administration conditions, and psychiatric disorders, respectively. Our study identifies potential new AE signals for oseltamivir and provides a broader understanding of the safety of oseltamivir and baloxavir marboxil in children.

Gastrointestinal infections and gastrointestinal haemorrhage are underestimated but serious adverse events in chimeric antigen receptor T-cell recipients: A real-world study.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has achieved durable response in patients with hematological malignancies, however, therapy-associated multisystem toxicities are commonly observed. Here, we systematically analyzed CAR-T-related gastrointestinal adverse events (GAEs) using the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) between January 2017 and December 2021. Disproportionality analyses were performed using reporting odds ratios (ROR) and information component (IC). Among 105,087,611 reports in FAERS, 1518 CAR-T-related GAEs reports were identified. 23 GAEs (n = 281, 18.51%) were significantly overreported following CAR-T therapy compared with the full database, of which 11 GAEs (n = 156, 10.28%) were associated with gastrointestinal infections (GI), such as clostridium difficile colitis (n = 44 [2.90%], ROR = 5.55), enterovirus infection (n = 23 [1.52%], ROR = 20.02), and mucormycosis (n = 15 [0.99%], ROR = 3.09). Overall, the fatality rate of 11 GI-related AEs was 29.49%, especially mucormycosis causing substantial mortality with 60%. In addition, 4 of 23 overreported GAEs were related to haemorrhage and the mortality of gastrointestinal haemorrhage was 73.17%. Lastly, 29 death-related GAEs were identified. These findings could help clinicians early alert those rarely reported but lethal GAEs, thus reducing the risk of severe toxicities.

Broadening the capture of natural products mentioned in FAERS using fuzzy string-matching and a Siamese neural network

Increased sales of natural products (NPs) in the US and growing safety concerns highlight the need for NP pharmacovigilance. A challenge for NP pharmacovigilance is ambiguity when referring to NPs in spontaneous reporting systems. We used a combination of fuzzy string-matching and a neural network to reduce this ambiguity. Our aim is to increase the capture of reports involving NPs in the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). For this, we utilized Gestalt pattern-matching (GPM) and Siamese neural network (SM) to identify potential mentions of NPs of interest in 389,386 FAERS reports with unmapped drug names. A team of health professionals refined the candidates identified in the previous step through manual review and annotation. After candidate adjudication, GPM identified 595 unique NP names and SM 504. There was little overlap between candidates identified by each (Non-overlapping: GPM 347, SM 248). We identified a total of 686 novel NP names from FAERS reports. Including these names in the FAERS collection yielded 3,486 additional reports mentioning NPs.

Clopidogrel as a Distinctive Cause of Insulin Autoimmune Syndrome: A Systematic Case Review.

The sulfhydryl group of clopidogrel metabolite could induce insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS) with hypoglycemia as the major symptom. For patients with cardiovascular disease taking clopidogrel for vascular protection, this adverse event hypoglycemia increases the risk of cardiovascular events. However, discontinuing clopidogrel leaves patients without appropriate antiplatelet therapy. Treating IAS with glucocorticoids is also risky for these patients' primary cardiovascular diseases. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of clopidogrel-induced IAS (CIAS) would be beneficial for patients. This research aimed to discover the clinical features and investigate optimal therapeutic management of CIAS. We systematically searched for cases of CIAS in PubMed and Embase and performed data mining in Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). In the CIAS series, clinical features were summarized and compared to 287 IAS cases, including demographic information, HLA alleles, onset, and symptoms. The therapeutic effect of glucocorticoids was compared between the receiving group and the not-receiving group. The possibilities of common antiplatelet drugs to induce hypoglycemia/IAS were investigated with chemical structure and FAERS reports. A CIAS series of 51 patients was established. CIAS had an onset age of 74.8±8.6 years old, 92.2% male, and a balanced proportion of East Asians and non-East Asians. Confusion occurred more frequently in CIAS than in IAS from various causes, while the other symptoms and hypoglycemia types were similar. The recovery time was approximately the same whether using glucocorticoids/immunotherapy in CIAS or not. Among common antiplatelet drugs, ticagrelor and rivaroxaban were unlikely to induce hypoglycemia/IAS. Clopidogrel is a distinctive cause of IAS featuring an elderly male presenting confusion as the symptom of hypoglycemia. Glucocorticoids/immunotherapy might not be necessary for the long-term recovery of CIAS. To balance the risks of hypoglycemia and cardiovascular events, substituting clopidogrel with ticagrelor and rivaroxaban might be considered.

Seizures associated with antibiotics: a real-world disproportionality analysis of FAERS database

ABSTRACT Background Drug-induced seizures are a common occurrence in clinical practice, with research indicating that around 6% of initial seizures are due to drug toxicity. The use of antibiotics is one such cause of drug-related seizures. Previous systematic review has identified specific antibiotics that pose a risk of seizures, but a comprehensive analysis of a large patient sample is needed to determine the risk associated with various drugs. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the association between seizures and various antibiotics that are presently accessible. Methods To identify potential risk signals from the US Food and Drug Administration adverse event reporting system (FAERS) database, a disproportionality analysis was conducted. The reporting odds ratio (ROR) using the frequency approach and the information component (IC) using the Bayesian approach were used to detect signals. The median time-to-onset of seizure, as well as the Weibull distribution parameters were calculated to analyze the onset time. Results A total of 14,407,157 FAERS reports were analyzed.10 antibiotics were associated with seizures that were defined by 41 preferred terms. Onset time were aligned with the wear out failure type profile. Conclusion This study identified 10 antibiotics that showed significant associations with seizures. Imipenem-cilastatin had the highest seizure ROR.

Self-reported adverse events associated with ∆8-Tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-8-THC) Use

BackgroundThere is an expanding unregulated market for a psychotropic compound called ∆8-Tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8-THC) that is being derived from hemp, but a summary of adverse events related to delta-8-THC has not been publicly reported.MethodsThis case series assessed adverse events reported by delta-8-THC users on the Reddit forum r/Delta8 and compared these to delta-8-THC AEs in the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). Delta-8-THC and cannabis AEs reported in FAERS were also compared. The r/Delta8 forum was selected because it includes a large sample of 98,700 registered individuals who publicly discuss their experiences using delta-8-THC. All r/Delta8 posts were obtained from August 20, 2020, through September 25, 2022. A random sample of r/Delta8 posts was drawn (n = 10,000) and filtered for posts in which delta-8-THC users reported an adverse event (n = 335). FAERS reports that listed delta-8-THC (N = 326) or cannabis (N = 7076) as a suspect product active ingredient were obtained. Adverse events claimed to result from delta-8-THC use were coded using Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities to system organ class and preferred term categories.ResultsThe absolute number of delta-8-THC adverse event reports (N = 2184, 95% CI = 1949–2426) and serious adverse event reports (N = 437; 95% CI = 339–541) on r/Delta 8 were higher than the adverse event reports (N = 326) and serious adverse event reports (N = 289) to FAERS. Psychiatric disorders were the most frequently cited system organ class in r/Delta8 adverse event reports, mentioned in 41.2% (95% CI = 35.8%-46.3%) of reports, followed by respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders (29.3%, 95% CI = 25.1%-34.0%) and nervous system disorders (23.3%, 95% CI = 18.5%-27.5%). Anxiety (16.4%, 95% CI = 12.8–20.6), Cough (15.5%, 95% CI = 11.9–20.0) and Paranoia (9.3%, 95% CI = 6.3–12.5) were the most frequently cited preferred terms in adverse event reports. The overall prevalence of AEs reported for cannabis and delta-8-THC on FAERS were also similar when analyzed by system organ class (Pearson’s r = 0.88).ConclusionsThe findings of this case series suggest that most of the adverse events reported by delta-8-THC users are like those reported during acute cannabis intoxication. This finding suggests that health care professionals follow similar treatment and management protocols, and that jurisdictions should clarify whether delta-8-THC can be sold as a hemp product.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and disseminated intravascular coagulation are underestimated, but fatal adverse events in chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy.

Hematotoxicity is the most common long-term adverse event (AE) after chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T) therapy. However, patients who receive CAR T therapy in pivotal clinical trials are subjected to restrictive selection criteria, and this means that rare but fatal toxicities are underestimated. Here, we systematically analyzed CAR T-associated hematologic AE using the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) between January 2017 and December 2021. Disproportionality analyses were performed using reporting odds ratios (ROR) and information component (IC); the lower limit of the ROR and IC 95% confidence interval (CI) (ROR025 and IC025) exceeding one and zero was considered significant, respectively. Among the 105,087,611 reports in FAERS, 5,112 CAR T-related hematotoxicity reports were identified. We found 23 significant over-reporting hematologic AE (ROR025 >1) compared to the full database, of which hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH; n=136 [2.7%], ROR025 = 21.06), coagulopathy (n=128 [2.5%], ROR025 = 10.43), bone marrow failure (n=112 [2.2%], ROR025 = 4.88), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC; n=99 [1.9%], ROR025 = 9.64), and B-cell aplasia (n=98 [1.9%], ROR025 = 118.16, all IC025 > 0) were highly under-reported AE in clinical trials. Importantly, HLH and DIC led to mortality rates of 69.9% and 59.6%, respectively. Lastly, hematotoxicity-related mortality was 41.43%, and 22 death-related hematologic AE were identified using LASSO regression analysis. These findings could help clinicians in the early detection of those rarely reported but lethal hematologic AE, thus reducing the risk of severe toxicities for CAR T recipients.

Drugs That Interact With Colchicine Via Inhibition of Cytochrome P450 3A4 and P-Glycoprotein: A Signal Detection Analysis Using a Database of Spontaneously Reported Adverse Events (FAERS).

Colchicine has a narrow therapeutic index. Its toxicity can be increased due to concomitant exposure to drugs inhibiting its metabolic pathway; these are cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and P-glycoprotein (P-gp). To examine clinical outcomes associated with colchicine drug interactions using the spontaneous reports of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). We conducted a disproportionality analysis using FAERS data from January 2004 through June 2020. The reporting odds ratio (ROR) and observed-to-expected ratio (O/E) with shrinkage for adverse events related to colchicine's toxicity (ie, rhabdomyolysis/myopathy, agranulocytosis, hemorrhage, acute renal failure, hepatic failure, arrhythmias, torsade de pointes/QT prolongation, and cardiac failure) were compared between FAERS reports. A total of 787 reports included the combined mention of colchicine, an inhibitor of both CYP3A4 and P-gp drug, and an adverse event of interest. Among reports that indicated the severity, 61% mentioned hospitalization and 24% death. A total of 37 ROR and 34 O/E safety signals involving colchicine and a CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitor were identified. The strongest ROR signal was for colchicine + atazanavir and rhabdomyolysis/myopathy (ROR = 35.4, 95% CI: 12.8-97.6), and the strongest O/E signal was for colchicine + atazanavir and agranulocytosis (O/E = 3.79, 95% credibility interval: 3.44-4.03). This study identifies numerous safety signals for colchicine and CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitor drugs. Avoiding the interaction or monitoring for toxicity in patients when co-prescribing colchicine and these agents is highly recommended.

Assessing adverse drug reaction reports for antidiabetic medications approved by the food and drug administration between 2012 and 2017: a pharmacovigilance study.

Between 2012 and 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved 10 antidiabetic indicated therapies. Due to the limited literature on voluntarily reported safety outcomes for recently approved antidiabetic drugs, this study investigated adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported in the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). A disproportionality analysis of spontaneously reported ADRs was conducted. FAERS reports from January 1, 2012 to March 31, 2022 were compiled, allowing a 5-year buffer following drug approval in 2017. Reporting odds ratios were calculated for the top 10 ADRs, comparing new diabetic agents to the other approved drugs in their therapeutic class. 127,525 reports were identified for newly approved antidiabetic medications listed as the primary suspect (PS). For sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors, the odds of blood glucose increased, nausea, and dizziness being reported was greater for empagliflozin. Dapagliflozin was associated with greater reports of weight decreased. Canagliflozin was found to have a disproportionally higher number of reports for diabetic ketoacidosis, toe amputation, acute kidney injury, fungal infections, and osteomyelitis. Assessing glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, dulaglutide and semaglutide were associated with greater reports of gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions. Exenatide was disproportionally associated with injection site reactions and pancreatic carcinoma reports. Pharmacovigilance studies utilizing a large publicly available dataset allow an essential opportunity to evaluate the safety profile of antidiabetic drugs utilized in clinical practice. Additional research is needed to evaluate these reported safety concerns for recently approved antidiabetic medications to determine causality.

Augmenting aer2vec: Enriching distributed representations of adverse event report data with orthographic and lexical information

Adverse Drug Events (ADEs) are prevalent, costly, and sometimes preventable. Post-marketing drug surveillance aims to monitor ADEs that occur after a drug is released to market. Reports of such ADEs are aggregated by reporting systems, such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). In this paper, we consider the topic of how best to represent data derived from reports in FAERS for the purpose of detecting post-marketing surveillance signals, in order to inform regulatory decision making. In our previous work, we developed aer2vec, a method for deriving distributed representations (concept embeddings) of drugs and side effects from ADE reports, establishing the utility of distributional information for pharmacovigilance signal detection. In this paper, we advance this line of research further by evaluating the utility of encoding orthographic and lexical information. We do so by adapting two Natural Language Processing methods, subword embedding and vector retrofitting, which were developed to encode such information into word embeddings. Models were compared for their ability to distinguish between positive and negative examples in a set of manually curated drug/ADE relationships, with both aer2vec enhancements offering advantages in performances over baseline models, and best performance obtained when retrofitting and subword embeddings were applied in concert. In addition, this work demonstrates that models leveraging distributed representations do not require extensive manual preprocessing to perform well on this pharmacovigilance signal detection task, and may even benefit from information that would otherwise be lost during the normalization and standardization process.

A Pharmacovigilance Study of Adverse Drug Reactions Reported for Cardiovascular Disease Medications Approved Between 2012 and 2017 in the United States Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Database.

Between 2012 and 2017, the FDA approved 29 therapies for a cardiovascular disease (CVD) indication. Due to the limited literature on patient safety outcomes for recently approved CVD medications, this study investigated adverse drug reports (ADRs) reported in the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). A disproportionality analysis of spontaneously reported ADR was conducted. Reports in FAERS from Quarter 1, 2012, through Quarter 1, 2019, were compiled, allowing a 2-year buffer following drug approval in 2017. Top 10 reported ADRs and reporting odds ratios (ROR; confidence interval (CI)), a measure of disproportionality, were analyzed and compared to drugs available prior to 2012 as appropriate. Of 7,952,147 ADR reports, 95,016 (1.19%) consisted of reports for newly approved CVD medications. For oral anticoagulants, apixaban had significantly lower reports for anemia and renal failure compared to dabigatran and rivaroxaban but greater reports for neurological signs/symptoms, and arrhythmias. Evaluating heart failure drugs, sacubitril/valsartan had greater reports for acute kidney injury, coughing, potassium imbalances, and renal impairment but notably, lower for angioedema compared to lisinopril. Assessing familial hypercholesterolemia drugs, alirocumab had greater reports for joint-related-signs/symptoms compared to other agents in this category. A newer pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment, selexipag, had greater reports of reporting for bone/joint-related-signs/symptoms but riociguat had greater reports for hemorrhages and vascular hypotension. Pharmacovigilance studies allow an essential opportunity to evaluate the safety profile of CVD medications in clinical practice. Additional research is needed to evaluate these reported safety concerns for recently approved CVD medications.

Use of Disproportionality Analysis to Identify Previously Unknown Drug-Associated Causes of Cardiac Arrhythmias Using the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Database

Drug-induced QTc-prolongation is a well-known adverse drug reaction (ADR), however there is limited knowledge of other drug-induced arrhythmias. The objective of this study is to determine the drugs reported to be associated with arrhythmias other than QTc-prolongation using the FAERS database, possibly identifying potential drug causes that have not been reported previously. FAERS reports from 2004 quarter 1 through 2019 quarter 1 were combined to create a dataset of approximately 11.6 million reports. Search terms for arrhythmias of interest were selected from the Standardized MedDRA Queries (SMQ) Version 12.0. Frequency of the cardiac arrhythmias were determined for atrial fibrillation, atrioventricular block, bradyarrhythmia, bundle branch block, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation and linked to the reported causal medications. Reports were further categorized by prior evidence associations using package inserts and established drug databases. A reporting odds ratio (ROR) and confidence interval (CI) were calculated for the ADRs for each drug and each of the 6 cardiac arrhythmias. Of the 11.6 million reports in the FAERS database, 68,989 were specific to cardiac arrhythmias of interest. There were 61 identified medication-reported arrhythmia pairs for the 6 arrhythmia groups with 33 found to have an unknown reported association. Rosiglitazone was the most frequently medication reported across all arrhythmias [ROR 6.02 (CI: 5.82-6.22)]. Other medications with significant findings included: rofecoxib, digoxin, alendronate, lenalidomide, dronedarone, zoledronic acid, adalimumab, dabigatran, and interferon beta-1b. Upon retrospective analysis of the FAERS database, the majority of drug-associated arrhythmias reported were unknown suggesting new potential drug causes. Cardiac arrhythmias other than QTc prolongation are a new area of focus for pharmacovigilance and medication safety. Consideration of future studies should be given to using the FAERS database as a timely pharmacovigilance tool to identify unknown adverse events of medications.

Investigation of drugs affecting hypertension in bevacizumab-treated patients and examination of the impact on the therapeutic effect.

BackgroundIn patients treated with bevacizumab, hypertension may be a biomarker of therapeutic efficacy. However, it is not clear whether drugs that control blood pressure influence bevacizumab's efficacy. In this study, we investigated drugs that may affect hypertension in bevacizumab‐treated patients and examined the impact on the therapeutic effect.Patients and methodsWe analyzed 3,724,555 reports from the third quarter of 2010 to the second quarter of 2015. All data were obtained from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) analysis. In this retrospective cohort study, we investigated a total of 58 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer and treated for the first time with bevacizumab containing XELOX or mFOLFOX6 at The University of Tokushima Hospital between January 2010 and December 2015. The effect of the treatment was evaluated according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version 1.0. Thereafter, the effect was confirmed using Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and cultured cells.ResultsThere are few reports in FAERS of hypertension in patients treated with omeprazole on bevacizumab. Based on the chart review, patients who used proton pump inhibitors (PPI) had a lower response to treatment than those who did not (response rate: 25% vs 50%). Furthermore, experiments on GEO and cell lines suggested that induction of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene expression by PPIs is the cause of the reduced therapeutic effect.ConclusionPPIs prevent hypertension in bevacizumab‐treated patients but may reduce bevacizumab's anti‐tumoral effects by inducing VEGF expression.

418 A Review of Timelines and Reporters of Adverse Events From Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) That Are Conveyed to the United States Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).

INTRODUCTION: Recent publications have described potential PPI-associated adverse events (AEs) including cardiovascular disease (CVD), cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and renal disease (acute interstitial nephritis and CKD). There is public interest and potential for lawsuits for these and other PPI-related AEs. The FAERS is a database of voluntarily reported AEs used for post-marketing surveillance of medications. The aim of this study is to analyze reports of all PPI-associated-AEs to FAERS, focusing on reporter sources. This permits an understanding of the effect of published high-profile PPI-associated AEs on FDA drug surveillance. METHODS: A total of 9,144,290 FAERS reports from January 2013 to December 2018 were examined. Analysis of all Primary PPI-related AEs were included (C. difficile, microscopic colitis, atrophic gastritis, hypergastrinemia, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, hypophosphatemia, vitamin malabsorption, pneumonia, CVD, CVA, renal disease, drug-induced lupus, and dementia). AEs were defined by MedDRA terminology. All reports were categorized according to reporter source (physicians, pharmacists, other health care professionals, consumers, and lawyers). RESULTS: Until 2018, overall reporting of PPI-related AEs generally showed steady changes over time. In 2015 there were 7,024 reports for all PPI-related AEs, in 2016, there were 8,043, and in 2017, there were 7,682. Notably, in 2018, reports for all PPI-related AEs spiked to 14,607. For specific AEs, reports for renal disease and CVD from consumers showed marked increases. In 2015 consumers reported 427 CVD cases and 494 renal cases, while consumers reported 627 CVD cases and 1,155 renal cases in 2018 (Figure 1). Reports for lawyers and physicians for CVD and renal disease both increased between 2015 and 2018. Physicians had an increase from 368 to 503 cases of CVD (36.7% increase) and from 676 cases to 1,112 of renal disease (64.5% increase), while lawyers had an increase of 49 cases of CVD to 99 cases of CVD (102% increase) and increase of 4 cases to 974 of renal disease (24,250% increase). This resulted in a rise in percentage of total reports from lawyers (Figures 2 and 3). CONCLUSION: Consumers are increasing reporting of CVD and renal disease associated with PPI use. The rapid increase in reports of PPI-associated CVD and especially renal disease by lawyers suggests that lawyers are a potential source of interference on pharmacovigilance.

Identification of suicide-related events through network analysis of adverse event reports.

In the treatment of depression, it is essential to monitor for early warnings of suicide. The aim of this study was to identify the symptoms that would suggest a high suicide risk by analyzing data obtained from the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Using FAERS reports from 1997 to the second quarter of 2012, we constructed the co-occurrence network of adverse events. From this network, we extracted the events that were strongly connected to suicidal events (suicidal attempts, suicidal ideation, suicidal behavior, and complete suicide) by means of the community detection method. We succeeded in obtaining a list of suicide-related adverse events. Owing to the randomness inherent in the algorithms of community detection, we found that the obtained list differed according to each trial of analysis. However, the lists we derived show considerable efficiency in identifying suicidal events. The network analysis appears to be a promising method for identifying signals of suicide.
