Tradhisi Nyekar Ing Pundhen Mbah Putri Ayuing Dusun Wire Desa Gedongombo Kecamatan Semanding Kabupaten Tuban

The tradition that has been carried out every year and is believed by the people of Gedongombo Village, Semanding District, Tuban Regency is an activity that cannot be abandoned by the local community. The traditions and habits that are often carried out are the characteristics of the Tuban area. The tradition of nyekar or pilgrimage to the tomb of Mbah Putri Ayu who is the ancestor of the local hamlet is one form of gratitude and respect for the ancestors who have had a great influence on the Wire Hamlet. Mbah Putri Ayu is a descendant of the King of Tuban who was very famous at that time. She has a very beautiful face, is smart and dignified. The focus of the discussion in this study is how the origins, procedures, and ubarampe and the meaning of the ubarampe. This study uses the theory of half-literate folklore from James Danandjaja. The research design uses a qualitative descriptive method to provide a detailed explanation. The data sources used are primary and secondary data, oral data and non-verbal data. The results of the research on the Nyekar Tradition at Pundhen Mbah Putri Ayu in Wire Village, Semanding District, Tuban Regency are related to culture. The traditional activities are supported by local residents ranging from young people to old people.

Worldview, Morality, and Rasa in Sithon Manora Literature

The study of Sithon Manora literature consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the worldview in Sithon Manora Literature, 2) to study the morality in Sithon Manora Literature, and 3) to study the Rasa (emotive aesthetics) in Sithon Manora Literature. The research is qualitative with the following research tools, surveys, structured and non-structured interviews, and the Sithon Manora Literature (Major Version) by Phra Ariyanuwat Khemacharee. The data was analyzed based on the research objectives using Folklore Theory and presented through descriptive analysis. The research result shows that 1) three worldviews were found in Sithon Manora literature. Firstly, the worldview of people on people, emphasizing parents, teachers, spouses, friends, brahmins, and servants. It was believed that the reason people met one another in this life was because of their past karmas. Secondly, the worldview of people on nature. Nature is beauty, and the Isaan society relies on nature and Isaan people depend their livelihood on nature. Lastly, the worldview of people on the supernatural. Isaan people believe that supernatural beings impact people’s livelihoods. 2) The morality found in Sithon Manora literature consists of the Five Precepts, a set of teachings for people to do good deeds. It is used as an anchor for people’s actions and includes retributions for violating the precepts. And 3) Regarding the Rasa, in all the 68 episodes of the literature, four Rasas were perceived, including Saovarojanee (admiration), Nareepramot (love), Pirotvatung (anger), and Sallapungkapisai (sadness).

The Squirrel, Omelette, and the Truths: An Ethnographic Narrative Exploration of Philosophical Dialogue and Literacy with Young Learners

Abstract: This paper explores the innovative approach of engaging young learners in philosophical dialogue through creative storytelling. Employing an ethnographic narrative methodology, it examines storytelling sessions between the first author and her eight-year-old son, focusing on the emergent discussions about multifaceted truths inspired by the whimsical tale of “Omelette”, a fish that, according to the young storyteller, lays pre-cooked omelettes. By integrating narrative theory and elements of folklore and mythology, this paper reveals how such narratives can significantly enhance literacy and philosophical understanding in children. This research highlights the potential of storytelling as a dynamic educational tool, offering insights into the development of critical thinking and literacy skills.

Tradisi Kirab Pusaka Eyang Djoego Di Desa Jugo Kecamatan Kesamben Kabupaten Blitar

The Eyang Djoego Heritage Carnival tradition is a cultural activity that takes the form of tradition and is carried out every year. The heritage carnival activity was carried out by the community in Jugo Village, Kesamben District, Blitar Regency. This tradition is carried out every year on Legi Sunday in the month of Sela, this is the calculation of dates and months in Javanese tradition. The implementation of the Eyang Djoego Heritage Carnival Tradition is a form of respect for the village ancestor named Eyang Djoego and as a form of community gratitude because with his services he was able to make the residents of Jugo Village live prosperously and have enough because the harvest was so abundant. The focus of this research discusses the origins, procedures, what ubarampe is and the meaning of ubarampe, as well as the function of this traditional activity. This research uses the half-lisa folklore theory of James Danandjadja. The research design used is a qualitative descriptive method, the data sources used in the research are primary and secondary as well as oral and non-verbal data. The results of research from the Eyang Djoego Heritage Carnival Tradition produce meanings that are related to culture. This research discusses the origins of the heritage carnival tradition which originated and developed in Jugo Village. These traditional activities are also enlivened and supported by the people in Jugo Village.

Analisis Minat Baca Intensif Berbasis Cerita Rakyat Melalui Media Audiovisual pada Mahasiswa PBSI UIN Jakarta

This research is motivated by the declining interest in reading in students which results in low knowledge of students. The theoretical foundations used in this research are reading interest theory, digital technology literacy theory, audio visual media theory and folklore theory. The method used is a qualitative approach using descriptive methods through interview techniques. The results of this study indicate that the use of folklore-based audio visual media can increase interest in intensive reading in Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) students from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. In order for students to be more interested in listening and reading through the use of audio visual media downloaded from the YouTube application. This study aims to provide an in-depth insight into how the application of audiovisual media can affect the intensive reading interest of PBSI students from UIN Jakarta towards folklore, as well as provide a foundation for the improvement of learning strategies in this area.

Culinary Tourism as Public Folklore: Heritage in Negotiating Competitiveness and Sustainability

Abstract The tourism industry often treats heritage as an objective quality that makes attractions more competitive. This approach would seem to support the sustainability of a culture's culinary heritage, but it oftentimes ossifies, simplifies, invents, and even threatens it. A folklore-based approach to culinary tourism addresses some of these issues. This essay describes three projects that illustrate applications of folklore theory and practice to culinary tourism projects involving heritage.

The Text of Minangkabau Collective Riddles: Format, Figurative Language, and Social Function for the Collective Owners

This research article aims to describe the format, figurative language, and social function of the traditional oral texts of Minangkabau collective riddles in West Sumatra, Indonesia. This research is based on the theory of folklore where riddles are categorized as a significant part of oral tradition that grows and develops orally and traditionally within the Minangkabau collective. The description of the research findings will explain the following points. First, how the format of riddles, consisting of descriptions or questions (descriptive) and answers (referent), is used by the Minangkabau collective. Secondly, it explains how the Minangkabau collective oral style uses figurative language to compose the format of descriptions or questions (descriptive) riddles that they ask to be answered by their listeners. Thirdly, it describes the Minangkabau collective attitude of the owners of the oral tradition, and it explains the importance of the riddles in their social life. This finding is in line with the theory about the social function of oral tradition for the collective owner.

Folk Belief (Superstitions) and Its Relation to the Birth, Newborn, and Children in Simalungun Society

This study aims to describe the structure, meaning, and function of the folk belief (superstitions) related to pregnancy, childbirth, newborn, and children. Superstition is used to forbid someone from taking certain actions to avoid a bad result or misfortune. Therefore, superstition can be used as social control in everyday life. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method using folklore theory. The results show that (1) The two structure that consists of cause-effect and cause-effect patterns. (2) The three structure that consists of cause-effect-conversion patterns and cause-conversion-effect patterns. Superstition contains the philosophy of Simalungun’s everyday life that contains the values of goodness that govern the relationship among humans, humans and the natural environment, and humans and God. Superstition functions as a means of children's education, coercion, and supervisory to the norms to obey by members of society. It also a system of collective imaginary projection and strengthening religious emotions or beliefs. Keywords: superstition, childbirth, newborn, childhood.

A study of Santals as children of nature in the light of Santal folktales

South Asian nations are home to the Santal tribe. Even though they are dispersed over several nations, most of the Santal are found in India and Bangladesh. The Santal people describe themselves largely as natural beings. This assertion has found support from some scholars who have analysed the Santal rituals and festivals. However, very few studies have tried to define the identity of the Santals from a literary perspective. Therefore, by examining their folktales, this article aims to demonstrate the idea that the Santal are children of nature. The study was guided by The National Folklore Theory, Cultural Functional Theory, and Theory of Reality. The qualitative research was based on a textual analysis of 27 Santal folktales. The rationale of this paper is that Santal folktales serve as a repository of knowledge about their customs, cultures and identities. From the study findings, it is clear that the Santals live in and through nature. They have such intimate relations with nature as one would have with a parent or sibling. They emulate the simplicity of nature in their lifestyle. Even the spirits they worship and revere are thought to reside in nature. Therefore, the Santal are born from nature and exist in mutually beneficial and shared spaces with other creatures in nature.

Values of local wisdom in Dayak Kanayatn’s folktale: A sociology study of literature

This study aimed at revealing the values of local wisdom contained in 16 pieces of Dayak Kanayatn folklore. Based on the theory of folklore, local values, and sociology of literature this study employed a qualitative descriptive method and a sociological approach to literary works. The results of the analysis and interpretation showed that the local wisdom values contained in the Kanayatn Dayak folklore include: (1) local wisdom values that reflect the human relationship with God such as believing in the existence of Jubata (God) and always being grateful; (2) wisdom values that reflect human to human relations including values of solidarity, obedience to customs and traditions, deliberation and cooperation, respect for guests, respect for gender equality, respect for parents, love for family, and upholding friendship; and (3) the value of local wisdom that reflects the relationship between humans and nature, including respect for nature/forest; believing in signs of nature; depending on nature; and believing in supernatural things. Struktur dan Fungsi Sosial Ungkapan Larangan Tentang Kematian di Desa Situak Kenagarian Ujung Gading Kecamatan Lembah Melintang Kabupaten Pasaman Barat

This study aims to describe the social structure and function of the expression of prohibition on death in Desa Situak Kenagarian Ujung Gading, Kecamatan Lembah Melintang, Kabupaten Pasaman Barat. The theory used in this research is folklore theory. This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive method that is content analysis, which describes the facts specified in the object of research. To describe the social structure and function of the prohibition on death in Desa Situak Kenagarian Ujung Gading, Kecamatan Lembah Melintang, Kabupaten Pasaman Barat., this research was conducted by analyzing it as an object of research with the following steps: (1) describing the structure of the prohibition expression, (2) describe the social function of the expression of prohibition. The structure contained in this prohibition is divided into two parts, namely the two-part structure and the three-part structure. The two-part structure is cause and effect, while the three-part structure is sign, conversion, and effect. Furthermore, the social function of the expression of prohibition, namely as strengthening beliefs, prohibiting, giving instructions, and educating. , namely informant one , obtained 10 data on the prohibition of death; informant two obtained 11 data on the expression of prohibition on death; informant three obtained 9 data on the prohibition of death; informant 4 obtained 9 data on the prohibition of death.

Jewish Folklore and Ethnology: What, Why, and Whither

:The inspiration for and significance of field-based Jewish folklore and ethnology studies as a distinct branch of learning devoted to the understanding of tradition in relation to diasporic Jewish studies and folkloristics is traced back to the Talmudic directive to "Go out and see what the people do." The shapers of the field include S. An-Ski, Max Grunwald, Yoysef-Yehude Lerner, and Dov Noy along with theoretical influences of Franz Boas and Erving Goffman heralding a shift from textual sources to analyses of practice and performance. The characteristic definition, content, method, and theory of Jewish folklore and ethnological studies since the nineteenth century are analyzed as growing out of a concern for change and continuity to Jewish community and identity amid the force of modernization. Future trajectories of research and goals for the field are considered in the digital age in which new definitions of community and culture are emerging.

HALKBİLİMSEL METAETİK KURAM İLE “CİNSELLİĞİN ANLATIMINDA ESTETİK SÖYLEME ÖNEM VERMEK ETİK DEĞERİ”NİN DEDE KORKUT ÖRNEKLEMİ

Aesthetic; beautiful emotion is defined as beauty and is limited to this definition. The view that aesthetics is only related to the field of philosophy and that it is limited in this way is wrong. The transition to context-centered studies in folklore has been delayed. For this reason, interdisciplinary studies should be carried out within the understanding of contemporary science. In line with these thoughts, we put forward the Metaethics Theory of Folklore and developed the Folklore Grounding Method Metaethics Analysis as the analysis method of the theory. An aesthetic expression was made in the Book of Dede Korkut. While writing the work, the author tried to reflect the aesthetics in the essence of the work. Based on this thought; The subject of our study is to express sexuality with aesthetic discourse and to determine the place of our ethical value in folk philosophy. It is aimed to make an exemplary study at the point of applying the Metaetic Theory of Folklore to the narratives. SUNAN GESENG AND HIS PREACHING LEGACY IN CENTRAL JAVA AND YOGYAKARTA

Traditional histories are manifestations of Indonesia's cultural richness. These traditional histories encompass the legend of influential figures in the spread of Islam in Central Java and The Special Region of Yogyakarta, such as Sunan Geseng. This article will discuss about the history of Sunan Geseng based on stories from the local communities in the preaching areas of Sunan Geseng and the traces of him. The research is considered as qualitative research using the method of library studies and interview. The theory used in this study is the theory of folklore, especially religious legends. The result of this research tells that Sunan Geseng is a student of Sunan Kalijaga, who is originated from Purworejo, Central Java. He was given a nickname "geseng" because his body was burned by blaze while he was in seclusion. The preaching areas of Sunan Geseng are spreaded in southern Java regions, which covers these following areas: Bagelen, Purworejo, Central Java; Jolosutro, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta; Pasanggrahan, Magelang, Central Java; and Blubuk, Wates, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The remains of his preaching relics are physical buildings, including mosques, petilasan, and tombs. These relics are still well preserved and are visited by many people.KEYWORDS: Sunan, Geseng, relics of preaching.

KAZAK ŞEŞENDİK SÖZLERİNİN İŞLEVLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Bir toplumun hayatı algılayışı ve buna bağlı yaşam tarzı temelinde binlerce yılda biçimlenen kültürel kodlarının gelecek nesillere aktarılmasında en önemli rolü sözlü gelenek içinde oluşan kalıp sözler ve anlatılar üstlenir. Yazılı geleneğin henüz yaygınlaşmadığı dönemlerde Kazak Türklerinin hayvancılığa dayalı bozkır hayatının şartlarına bağlı coğrafya ve boylar esasında oluşturdukları Cüzler sistemine dayanan toplumsal yapılanma Kazak kimliğinin, hayat anlayışının ve kültürünün kendine has yönler geliştirmesine zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu çerçevede Türk kültür ve medeniyet dairesi içinde yer almakla birlikte kendine has geliştirdikleri yaşam biçiminin, toplumsal norm ve anlayışların izlerini Kazak Türklerinin sözlü edebiyat geleneği ürünleri içerisinde tespit etmek mümkündür. Kazak Türklerinde sözlü gelenek içinde yer alan önemli türlerden birisi de ‘Şeşendik Sözler’dir. Edebiyat araştırmalarında başlangıçta “biylik/beylik söz” olarak adlandırılan bu türe ait ürünler, “Biylik/ Beylik” ifadesinin eski Kazak toplum düzenini/feodaliteyi çağrıştırdığı gerekçesiyle Sovyet kültür politikalarına ters görülerek Sovyet Döneminde “şeşendik söz” olarak adlandırılmıştır. Şeşendik sözler, biyler/şeşenler tarafından söylenip ya yalın biçimiyle ya da şahıslar etrafında hikâyeleştirilmiş anlatılar içinde yer alarak halk arasında nesilden nesile aktarılan bilgelik sözlerdir. 
 İşlevsel Halkbilimi Kuramı halkbilimi çalışmalarında günümüzde en yaygın olarak kullanılan teorilerden biridir. Folklor ürünlerinin işlevleri üzerine bir model oluşturan W. Bascom folklorun çok sayıdaki işlevi arasında önemli gördüğü dört işlevden bahseder. İlhan Başgöz de bu dört işleve beşinci olarak “protesto işlevi”ni ilave der. Bu çalışmada W. Bascom’un tespit ettiği folklorun dört işlevi ve İlhan Başgöz’ün ilave ettiği “protesto işlevi” ışığında Kazak Türklerinin şeşendik sözleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, şeşendik sözlerin, William Bascom ve İlhan Başgöz’ün ifade ettikleri; değerlere, toplum kurallarına ve törelere destek verme; eğitim veya kültürün gelecek kuşaklara aktarılarak gençlerin eğitilmesi; kişisel ve toplumsal baskılardan kaçıp kurtulma ve protesto işlevini yerine getirdiği görülmüştür.

Form, Function, and Meaning of Bebasan: The Orality of the Samin in Bojonegoro

The research aimed to describe the form, function, and meaning of bebasan as a cultural orality spoken by the Samin in Bojonegoro. The Samin community was a community group residing in Bojonegoro, East Java. Aside from their distinguished language, the Samin was also well-known for its unique orality called bebasan, representing its culture and society. It was deemed significant to document this national tradition as a form of expression spoken based on the habits and behaviours of the Samin community. In a society that upheld the culture of oral traditions, the Samin community had placed bebasan as one of the rules of life that they subconsciously needed to obey. The research employed folklore theory in order to explore and observe the meaning of bebasan as a part of traditional folklore. Folkore was inseparable from the conditions of society and the culture that encompassed it, so it was necessary to comprehend and give meaning to the folklore. A descriptive qualitative method was applied in the research. Data was obtained by recording and documenting the orality spoken within the Samin community. The results reveal that there are six forms of Bebasan which include directives and teachings on how to conduct oneself well in life. It is also observed that bebasan functions as a medium for advice, reminders, and teachings of life, all ingrained in the Samin community.

KAJIAN NILAI BUDAYA PADA TARI BEDAYOU TULANG BAWANG

This study aims to examine the cultural values in the Bedayou Tulang Bawang dance. The Bedayou Tulang Bawang dance was analyzed using ethnochoreologi theory assisted by folklore theory. The method used in this research is qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. To analyze the cultural value in the Bedayou Tulang Bawang dance, the researchers used data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The analysis produces cultural values, namely the value of self-confidence and nemui nyimah (friendly, polite, and tolerant).

TRADISI KEPUNGAN TUMPENG TAWON DESA MANGUNWENI KECAMATAN AYAH KABUPATEN KEBUMEN: KAJIAN FOLKLOR

This research is motivated by the existence of oral literature on the tradition of the tumpeng wasp siege that has not been documented in Mangunweni Village, Ayah District, Kebumen Regency. Oral literature has information that can be utilized by the public. Through documentation, this information can be opened and used so that the objectives of describing oral literature, deciphering the value of oral literature, and identifying the function of oral literature can be achieved. The theory used in this research is the theory of the function of folklore by William R. Bascom and the theory of folklore proposed by Ruth Finnegan that oral literature has value in the phenomenon of human culture.The formal object of this research is the form, function, and value of oral literature. The material object in this study is oral literature in the tradition of the tumpeng wasp siege of the people of Mangunweni Village, Ayah District, Kebumen Regency. The analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis conducted by induction.The results obtained from this study are: 1) the oral literature of the tumpeng tawonsiege tradition is a type of oral tradition in the form of myths and folk beliefs; 2) the values contained in the tumpeng wasp siege tradition consist of divine values, harmony between humans, equality between humans, diversity, sincerity, unyielding, usefulness to others, and concern in achieving goals; 3) the tumpeng wasp siege tradition has a function as a projection system, as a tool for ratifying cultural institutions and institutions, as an educational tool (pedagogical device), and as a coercive and supervisory tool so that community norms will always be obeyed by members.
