Abstract A test was conducted at the Sweet Potato Research Station, LSU AC, Chase, LA, to determine the efficacy of 9 insecticide treatments for the control of white grub and whitefringed beetle. Treatments were arranged in a RCB design with four replications. The cultivar ‘Beauregard’ was planted on 9 Jun. Plots were 4 rows wide (40 inches/row) and 40 ft long. Insecticides were applied on an approximately weekly basis starting one month after transplanting (10, 17, 24, 31 Jul; 7, 14, 21, 28 Aug; 4, 11, 18 Sep). A CO2-pressurized tractor mounted system was used (40 psi) with a four-row boom (20 inches spacing) containing 8 nozzles (Cone Jet tx-vs-6) and calibrated to deliver 15 gpa. Sweetpotatoes were harvested on 25 Sep and rated for damage. From each plot, 25 roots were randomly selected and the presence or absence of white grub and whitefringed beetle feeding damage was determined.
