Extensive foam cell aggregates are infrequently encountered in lesions of endodontic origin and, when present in quantity, may suggest to the pathologist a bone localizatiorl of a reactive or proliferative process. Correlation of clinical and radiographic data and an appreciation for the presence of xantlaomatoid histiocytes in periapical processes of diverse etiology, including endodontic causes, will allow a definitive diagnosis to be made.
