In the academic research and practice of English translation, in-depth analysis and discussion on English passive sentences and their Chinese translation strategies are of great significance. This article employs a variety of Chinese translation strategies including direct conversion, active sentence conversion, addition, omission, and segmentation to unveil and analyze the essential factors that must be considered in the process of translating English passive sentences into Chinese. These factors encompass word class, grammatical structure, and specific language habits, underscoring their importance in ensuring the accuracy and fluency of translations. This paper aims to assist scholars and learners in the field of English translation not only to gain a deeper understanding of the grammatical and semantic characteristics of English passive sentences but also to master and apply effective translation techniques to enhance their ability to accurately translate English passive sentences into Chinese.

Realization of Chinese-English Bilingual Speech Dialogue System using Machine Translation Technology

The realization of a Chinese-English bilingual speech dialogue system through machine translation technology involves developing a sophisticated system capable of seamlessly translating spoken language between Chinese and English in real-time. This system employs cutting-edge machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and natural language processing techniques to accurately interpret and translate speech inputs from one language to another. By integrating advanced speech recognition and translation models, users can engage in fluid and natural conversations across language barriers, opening up new possibilities for cross-cultural communication and interaction. This paper introduces a Statistical Phase-based Bilingual Speech (SPBS) system designed to facilitate seamless language translation and dialogue between multiple languages, with a focus on Chinese and English. Leveraging advanced machine learning models and techniques, such as Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) with Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) architecture, the SPBS system achieves high translation accuracy, computational efficiency, and fluency of translations. The system's multilingual model attains an impressive translation accuracy of 97% while processing 10 sentences per second, with positive feedback on the fluency of translations. Trained on a substantial dataset of 1 million bilingual sentence pairs, the SPBS model maintains a compact size of 500 MB. Furthermore, the paper presents the machine learning settings and training progress of the SPBS system, demonstrating its effectiveness in accurately classifying and translating speech inputs across languages. The system's multilingual model attains an impressive translation accuracy of 97% while processing 10 sentences per second, with positive feedback on the fluency of translations. An Eco-translatology approach to investigating the translation of comics: Case study of The Sayings of Zhuangzi

Featuring the interplay of verbal and visual content, the translation of comics has received theorists’ attention in recent decades. To shed new light, this study analysed the translation of comics from a new perspective, namely Eco-translatology. Selecting 自然的簫聲：莊子說 [The Sayings of Zhuangzi: The Music of Nature] and its English translation, The Sayings of Zhuangzi: The Music of Nature, as the research texts, this study conducted an in-depth analysis and obtained three major findings: (1) the translators have professional knowledge and expertise to process the comic book appropriately, (2) the target ecosystem shares a similar composition and creates the same effect as the source at the micro- and meso-levels and (3) the target ecosystem is constructed in a composition that attains harmony and interaction at the macro-level. Amplification, reduction/omission and literal translation are the three most-adopted coping strategies to achieve linguistic and cultural transformation, whereas the inclusion of an introduction and the use of footnotes fulfill communicative transformation. This paper argues that translators attach the utmost importance to the “comprehension of stories,” followed by “space constraints,” “fluency of translation,” and “faithfulness to the original meaning.”

A Research Overview and Cause Analysis of Parataxis and Hypotaxis

As different connecting means in Chinese and English, parataxis and hypotaxis have always been the focus of discussion and research by Chinese and foreign scholars. This pair of concepts has been studied for a long time, and after years of supplement and improvement, the concepts of parataxis and hypotaxis have been very mature and widely used in the translation practice of various styles. Therefore, the authors give an overview of the research on parataxis and hypotaxis from the aspects of the proposal, development and application of the concepts. Apart from that, the authors also analyze the reasons of parataxis and hypotaxis from the following two perspectives: (1) grammar and syntax, (2) culture and thinking modes. Through this study, the authors hope to further improve the accuracy and fluency of translation between Chinese and English based on theories of parataxis and hypotaxis, and also hope to find some reasonable explanations to the Chinese and Western cultural conflicts.

汉语颜色词的语义模糊性及其韩译研究: 以《唐诗三百首》为例

Fuzziness is one basic feature of the natural language, and exists on every level of the language system. Fuzziness poses an important problem in translation research. It needs to be examined and studied thoroughly. Employing fuzzy theory to assist translation studies will greatly promote the development of translation theory and practice. Therefore, Taking fuzzy theory as the support and “Three Hundred Tang Poems”translated by Lin Dongxi as the translation corpus, this study tries to establish Chinese and Korean bilingual corpus. By corpus research method, this paper aims to analyze the fuzzy color words in “Three Hundred Tang Poems”and Lin’s translation, examine translation activities in combination with the fuzzy nature of natural language and explore the strategies of fuzzy vocabulary translation. The fuzziness of word meaning might cause obstacles to translation, which means that the translator should use fuzzy thinking to reasonably adjust the explicit and implicit relationship of these mantic information of the source language, so as to reproduce the expression effect of the original text to the maximum extent. In the actual translation process, the translator should first compare and analyze the fuzziness of the two languages, understand the cultural phenomena behind the languages, and find out the concepts with equivalent effect in the target language. After clarifying the context of the original text, the fuzzy words should be translated flexibly to avoid mistranslation or dead translation, so as to ensure the accuracy and fluency of translation.
