The types of growing media and plant density on the growth and yield of kailan (Brassica oleracea L.) In a floating raft system hydroponic

This research aimed to know the effect of the type of growing media and population density on the growth and yield of kailan (Brassica oleracea L.) hydroponically. The research was conducted in the greenhouse of the integrated agricultural system area at Curug Serang Banten Province. This research used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) as factorial with two factors. The first factor was the type of growing media (J) which consisted of 3 levels, J1 (Rockwool), J2 (Zeolite), and J3 (Sponge). The second factor was population density (K), which consisted of 3 treatment levels, K1 (3 plants per tub), K2 (4 plants per tub), and K3 (5 plants per tub). The results showed that the type of growing media had a significant effect on plant height growth 7 Day After Plating (DAP) of (4.67cm), 14 DAP (11.58 cm), 21 DAP (17.09 cm), 28 DAP (22.29 cm), 35 DAP (37.57 cm), number of leaves 14 DAP (4.59), 28 HST (6.96), 35 DAP (8.59) and the root weight of your plants was 35 DAP (3.43gram). Population density treatment had a significant effect on plant height growth 28 DAP (22.26 cm), 35 DAP (37,37 cm) and there was an interaction between media type treatment and population density on plant height parameters 35 DAP.

Effects of Temperature and Packaging Atmosphere on Shelf Life, Biochemical, and Sensory Attributes of Glasswort (Salicornia europaea L.) Grown Hydroponically at Different Salinity Levels.

Halophytes, such as Salicornia species, are promising new foods and are consumed for their pleasant salty taste and nutritional value. Since Salicornia is perishable, modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) can be a useful tool, in combination with proper temperature, to halt further quality degradation in this type of product. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of MAP, with or without refrigeration, to extend the shelf life of glasswort (Salicornia europaea L.) grown hydroponically (floating raft system) in a greenhouse with a nutrient solution containing 0 g/L (C) or 12.5 g/L of NaCl (T). The dry matter content, weight loss, respiration rate, biochemical composition, color, antioxidant capacity, and sensorial attributes were determined in shoots after harvest and during storage in plastic bags filled with technical air or with MAP at 4 or 20 °C for 120 h. At harvest, plants supplied with salt-enriched solution (T) showed a significant improvement in nutritional value and sensory profile. Storage in air at room temperature (20 °C) accelerated weight loss and diminished color stability, particularly in non-salinity samples (C), while MAP extended the shelf life of all the samples regardless of the storage temperature adopted. Optimal storage conditions were observed when MAP was combined with refrigeration, which allowed to effectively preserve shoots sensory acceptability for a period of about seven days. Future research could further explore the long-term effects on the nutritional value and sensory quality of S. europaea under various combinations of MAP and different storage temperatures ranging between 4 °C and 20 °C.

Effect of Cultivation Techniques in The Dry and Rainy Seasons on The Quality of The Seaweed Caulerpa racemosa

The seaweed Caulerpa racemosa has great potential to be developed because it has economic value and potential as a functional food. This seaweed contains nutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, polyunsaturated fatty acids, fiber minerals, and antioxidants. The availability of seaweed is still very dependent on nature and has not been appropriately cultivated. The planting season and appropriate cultivation methods will influence seaweed's quality/nutritional content. This research aims to analyze the nutritional content of seaweed C. racemosa cultivated in different growing seasons. The research method used a floating raft system with a completely randomized design and a factorial pattern carried out in two seasons, namely the dry and rainy seasons. Proximate analysis was carried out to determine the nutritional composition of seaweed C. racemosa, including protein, crude fiber, water, ash, fat, and carbohydrate (NFE). Next, it was analyzed using ANOVA with a further test with Tukey. The research results showed differences in the nutritional composition of seaweed C. racemosa from each treatment cultivated in the dry and rainy seasons. The nutritional composition of seaweed C. racemosa best treatment is found in the plant spacing of 30 cm with a depth of 50 cm in the dry season with the nutritional content namely protein (13.8%), NFE (20.75%), crude fiber (15.71%), a fluctuating fat content of 0.16-1.42%, highest ash (34.69%), water content (35%), moderate in the rainy season namely: protein (10.8%), BETN (10.78%), crude fiber (12.33%), fat content fluctuates (0.18-1.06%), highest ash (30.21%), water content (41.01%).

Experimental, theoretical and optimization studies on multimode vibration reduction of floating raft system based on NES cells

Most of the studies on multimode vibration reduction of floating raft systems remain at the stage of theoretical analysis, while relevant experimental studies are rare. In this paper, an experimental setup for a scaled-down floating raft system is constructed. The vertical track nonlinear energy sink (TNES) cells are experimentally applied for the first time to suppress the multimode vibration of the floating raft system. To ensure the damping effect is not affected by additional mass, the TNES cells are always installed on the floating raft system. The TNES is able to achieve vibration suppression by allowing unrestricted movement of its vibrator. Two damping systems with different TNESs placement are proposed. Experimental modal analysis is performed on the floating raft structure to determine its response characteristics. Based on the results, different magnitudes of excitation force are applied to each order mode to effectively suppress the multimode vibration of the system. Meanwhile, the nonlinear system coupled with TNES cells is analyzed using the harmonic balance method (HBM) to obtain the approximate analytical solution. The system responses obtained from the analytical solution are compared with the experimental data results. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is used to obtain the optimal parameters of the TNESs for vibration suppression. The results show that the multimodal vibration of the floating raft structure is effectively suppressed by the TNES cells in both experimental and theoretical analyses. The vibration suppression effect for all modes is significantly improved by the PSO algorithm. In conclusion, the research content of this paper provides a practical and feasible vibration suppression solution for the design of floating raft systems.

Sodium Chloride Tolerance during Germination and Seedling Stages of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) Lines Native to Mexico

Tomato is considered moderately sensitive to salinity, which detracts from the quality and yield of its fruit; therefore, wild populations have been used as a genetic resource. The aim of this research was to identify lines derived from wild tomato populations with tolerance to salinity during the germination and seedling stages. During germination, 52 wild lines and 2 commercial hybrids (Imperial®, Reserva®) were subjected to treatment with 150 mM and 0 mM NaCl and evaluated. The test was carried out for 20 days in a germination chamber with constant darkness, a temperature of 25 ± 2 °C and relative humidity conditions of 80 ± 4%. At the seedling stage, 22 wild tomato lines with the best performance in the germination test and 2 commercial hybrids (Imperial®, Topanga®) were evaluated for 12 days in a floating raft system. Concentrations of 175 mM and 0 mM of NaCl were used. During germination, the saline condition decreased the germination percentage (65.2%), speed of germination (88.2%), steam length (72.5%), root length (46.56%), number of normal plants (59.5%), stem dry matter (68.78%), root dry matter (61.99%), and total dry matter (67.1%). At the seedling stage, this condition decreased (p < 0.05) the aerial part dry matter (46.37%), leaf area (59.35%), root length (42.43%), final plant height (40.24%), and growth rate (71.42%). Seventeen tolerant genotypes were identified in one of the two developmental stages, while one genotype showed tolerance in both stages. These results indicate that there are different response mechanisms in each developmental stage. Native tomatoes play an important role in the identification of tolerant genotypes since they can be used as genetic resources for obtaining commercial genotypes with salt tolerance.

Synchronization characteristics of two induction motors on a floating raft system

The synchronization characteristics of two exciters driven by induction motors independently on a typical double-layer vibration isolation system, that is, the floating raft system are studied in the paper to enhance its vibration attenuation effect. Firstly, a new dynamical model for a floating raft system driven by two exciters is established by the Lagrange equation under considering the coupling effect among floating raft system and exciters. Then, the vibration responses in all directions are obtained by the Laplace transform. Secondly, the synchronization and stability solution are obtained by using the average small parameter method. Thirdly, the results of the theoretical analysis are verified by simulations. Finally, the parameter scope of a floating raft system to enhance its vibration attenuation effect is given. Moreover, compared with the traditional model, the proposed model considering the coupling effect among floating raft system and exciters is more feasible. Additionally, the effects of the mass ratio of the eccentric block, the symmetrical installation distance, parameter differences of two motors, and other dynamic parameters such as system mass and stiffness on their synchronization and the system vibration are discussed. This paper can provide a theoretical reference for the design, modeling, and application of such double-layer vibration isolation systems including the floating raft systems to enhance its vibration attenuation effect.

Fuzzy algorithm-based active control method for vibration of a mechanical gear transmission system

The detached raft automatic frequency isolation system is a complicated system with high exceptionally nonlinear, high electromagnetic, and multi-source vibration modes. However, it generates a statistical method and it is hard to operate the organization. The fuzzy control algorithm, as an astute control method, can give a keen path to the active management of a complicated system of floating rafts. This study uses a system identification approach to construct mathematical models for a floating raft active vibration isolation system with discrete transfer work. The fuzzy model is used in tests and simulations controller is built using two contributions of acceleration and its variation, as well as a single result of control voltage. The control isolation system is a complicated system with many moving parts. A lot of moving parts profoundly nonlinear, high electromagnetic and multi-source vibration modes, generating a statistical method and it is hard to operate the organization. The fuzzy control algorithm, as a smart control method, can give a keen path to the active management of a sophisticated floating raft system. This research uses an identification strategy to construct a floating raft active vibration isolation technology discrete transfer work mathematical models. The fuzzy controller is then put together using two contributions: acceleration and variation, as well as a single outcome of control voltage for simulations and experiments research.

Vibration reduction of floating raft system based on nonlinear energy sinks

Floating raft vibration isolation systems have been plagued by multi-frequency vibration and vibration suppression for the low-frequency range. In this paper, the floating raft vibration control strategy using multiple distributed nonlinear energy sinks (NESs) is proposed for the first time. In the modeling, three kinds of distributed NESs, namely, being connected to the power units only, to the raft and elastic base only, and to the entire substructure of the system, are considered. Based on this five-degree-of-freedom dynamic model, the natural frequencies and modes are analyzed. The approximate analytical analysis of the nonlinear model is carried out, and the correctness of the approximate solution is verified numerically. The vibration reduction efficiency of the three NES distribution models is demonstrated. The results show that the distributed NESs can effectively control the vibration of the floating raft system for all modes. The vibration problem of the floating raft system for the low-frequency range is perfectly solved. Furthermore, with a small additional weight ratio, different NES distribution models can be used to achieve the vibration damping of the floating raft system for low-order or high-order modes. In conclusion, this paper provides a novel and efficient control strategy for floating raft vibration.

Feasibility of aquaculture cultivation of elkhorn sea moss (Kappaphycus alvarezii) in a horizontal long line in the Tropical Eastern Pacific

Seaweed aquaculture has become a profitable and an attractive alternative of cultivation thanks to its quick biomass production for food, feed, and other non-food applications. In addition, the ecosystem services generated by seaweed cultivation towards carbon fixation represents a more sustainable solution to the ocean’s acidification. The growth of elkhorn sea moss (Kappaphycus alvarezii) was evaluated in three plots with 200 propagules during a period of 70 days in a floating raft system covered by a fishing net underneath. Initial weight of propagules was 159.3 ± 12.74 g in wet biomass and 15.3 ± 1.43 g in dry biomass and were sampled up to 19 days (in the lag growth phase; period I), up to 33 days (in the exponential growth phase; period II) and up to 70 days (in the stationarity growth phase; period III). The variations of sea surface water temperature, salinity, turbidity (Secchi depth), total ammonium, nitrites, nitrates, and phosphate were determined. The growth increase was more evident in the exponential phase II when a dry biomass of 28.0 ± 2.48 (1153.3 ± 6.25 g in wet mass) was reached, more than 7 times the biomass of propagules with an average daily growth rate of 15.2% g.day–1. The carrying capacity of the zone was estimated at 86.2% in the area where 53 cultivation units would be projected. The economic analysis presented a financial feasibility with a net profit of 19% over the projected income and an IRR of 16.5%, recovering the investment in an estimated period of 4.3 years. We recommend to continue with larger-scale studies to optimize the cultivation of K. alvarezii in the study area.

Aplikasi Ekoenzim Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tanaman Bayam Merah (Amaranthus Tricolor L.) Pada Sistem Hidroponik Rakit Apung

This research was conducted to determine the effect of ecoenzyme concentration on the growth of red spinach plants in a hydroponic floating raft system conducted at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. Ecoenzyme application treatment, namely: 0 ppm; 1000 ppm; 2000 ppm; and 3000 ppm with 6 replications arranged based on Completely Randomized Block Design (RAKL). Observations made consisted of: plant height, number of leaves, root length, leaf area, and root volume. The F test (ANOVA) at an error level of 5% was carried out to find out whether the treatment affected the observed variables. The LSD test at an error level of 5% is carried out if the F test is real. The results showed that the plant height of red spinach 2 MST was not affected by differences in ecoenzyme concentrations in the nutrient media; Plant height at 4 WAP with 1000 ppm ecoenzyme treatment was the highest and plant height at 6 WAP with 0 ppm and 1000 ppm ecoenzyme treatment was not different, while plant height growth with 2000 ppm and 3000 ppm treatment was lower. The number of leaves at 2 WAP, 4 WAP and 6 WAP, root length, leaf area, and root volume in all treatments of ecoenzyme concentration application showed no difference.

Comparative analysis of aromatic and nutraceutical traits of six basils from Ocimum genus grown in floating raft culture

The purpose of the research was to analyze the aromatic and nutraceutical features of six accessions of basil representing important morphological and commercial classes. The six basil types were five varieties belonging to the Ocimun basilicum L. species (namely: thyrsiflora, Cinnamon, Dark Opal, Italiano Classico, Purple Ruffle) and O. × citriodorum Vis., all growing in an hydroponic floating raft system. Ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatographic (UHPLC) analysis coupled with high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry (HRMS) identified and quantified 13 phenolics. Although the significant differences observed among the different basil types, cichoric acid was found to be the most abundant phenolic (277.912 mg kg−1 fw). Anise and Purple Ruffle had the highest phenolics, with the latter showing the highest antioxidant activities (DPPH•, ABTS•+, and FRAP). Hierarchical cluster analysis of the aromatic compounds analyzed by gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer (GC/MS) identify the similarity of the aromatic profiles of the six basils. While Italiano Classico and Dark Opal were characterized by higher linalool content and Anise, Cinnamon, and Purple Ruffle by estragole, Lemon had a preponderant aroma profile of α-citral and β-citral.

Mechanical characteristics analysis and control algorithm for floating raft system with mass variation

The ship floating raft system adopts the integrated design of large liquid tanks and rafts, which can optimize the arrangement in the cabin and increase the intermediate mass of the system to achieve efficient vibration isolation of equipment. One of the major challenges is that the change of liquid mass in the tank will cause displacement of the raft, which will change the modal characteristics of the system and affect the stability of the vibration isolation system performance. This paper establishes a mechanical analysis model of a floating raft system under time-varying liquid mass conditions. Taking a ship variable mass floating raft system as the research object, the effect of mass change on the characteristics of raft displacement, isolator load distribution, and modal frequency of the vibration isolation system is analyzed. The analysis shows that when the liquid tank goes from full load to no-load state, its mass change accounts for 40% of the total mass of the raft, which will cause a large displacement of the raft and change the low order modal frequency of the system, bringing the risk of equipment safety and vibration isolation performance degradation. Therefore, an adaptive variable load control method is proposed to realize the raft attitude balance and load equalization optimization under the variable mass condition of the floating raft air spring system. The test results show that the proposed control method can automatically adapt to the large mass gradual change from full load to no load of the liquid tank on the raft, and control the displacement of the raft structure from about 10 mm to 1.5 mm, which effectively ensures the stability of the air spring system performance.

Design of a floating raft system by exploiting the nonlinear damping

In the present study, the optimization design of the cubic nonlinear damping is conducted for a floating raft isolation system, which can be simplified as a multiple degree-of-freedom system with double parallel freedom inputs. The direct relationship between the power transmissibility and cubic nonlinear damping parameters is derived by taking advantage of the output frequency response function (OFRF) approach. The design requirements are proposed in order to achieve low resonant peak values, low power transmissibility over the high frequency range. The detailed step-by-step design process of the floating raft isolation system applied in a practical vessel is provided. A polynomial function, in terms of the required frequency range, is developed and validated from the simulation data. The case application indicates that the design method determined by the OFRF approach can effectively realize the design requirements of a floating raft isolation system, which can deal with the relationship of the power transmissibility and nonlinear damping parameters.

Merging konjac glucomannan with other copolymeric hydrogels as a cutting-edge liquid raft system for dual delivery of etoricoxib and famotidine

This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a floating raft system for the co-delivery of etoricoxib (ETO) and famotidine (FAM) using a combination of glucomannan with natural/semi-synthetic polysaccharides. Formulation variables affect gelation lag time (GLT), floating lag time (FLT), and release percentage of drugs after 1–8 h, Stability, and viscosity parameters were evaluated. In vivo X-ray studies, followed by the pharmacokinetic study, were performed on human volunteers. Formulations exhibited pseudoplastic behavior for ease of swallowing. The optimum raft system (ORS) comprised 1% Na alginate, 0.1% Low Methoxyl (LM) pectin, 0.8% Konjac glucomannan (KGL), 1% Precirol, and 1% CaCO3. ORS exhibited rapid GLT and FLT (around 42 and 8 sec respectively) in 0.1 N HCl as well as controlled release of ETO (15% in 1 h and 82% in 8 h) and FAM (29% in 1 h and 85% in 8 h). Formulation stability with the absence of any drug-excipient interactions was observed. The X-ray imaging showed a promising buoyancy ability for approximately 8 h. Compared with marketed products, ORS showed superior relative bioavailability for both drugs. These findings revealed the successful preparation of a promising raft system with improved dual drug delivery.

PEMANFAATAN FERMENTASI LIMBAH CAIR TAHU TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN SELADA MERAH (Lactuca sativa L var. Red) DENGAN TEKNIK HIDROPONIK SISTEM RAKIT APUNG

The use of tofu waste water using the hydroponic technique of the floating raft system is not well known, so it needs to be done as an innovation. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of tofu liquid waste fermentation on the growth of red lettuce (Lactuca sativa L var. Red rapids) using the floating raft hydroponic technique. The research was carried out in an experimental stage, namely the effect of tofu liquid waste on the growth of red lettuce (Lactuca sativa L var. Red rapids). This research method is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. Parameters observed were plant height, leaf width, number of leaves, root length, wet weight and dry weight. The results of the analysis of variance (Anava) at 5% level, the use of tofu liquid waste showed a significant effect on the growth of red lettuce. Giving a concentration of 2.5 liters of tofu liquid waste with 5 liters of water resulted in the best growth of red lettuce.

Volatiles Emitted by Three Genovese Basil Cultivars in Different Growing Systems and Successive Harvests

The Genovese basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) is the essential ingredient in “pesto” sauce, and it has always had ample use in Mediterranean gastronomy. This horticultural type of basil is grown in the open field and harvested more than once during its cultivation cycle, but in recent decades it is increasingly grown using alternative cultivation methods (e.g., soilless cultivation) that guarantee higher and more uniform production. The dataset presented in this contribution refers to the analysis of the aroma profile by solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer, of three different cultivars of Genovese basil (Aroma 2, Eleonora, and Italiano Classico) grown in the open field or floating raft system in two successive harvests. The data are a record of the variability of volatile organic compounds due to key agronomic factors, such as the genotype, the cultivation method, and the cut. They may be of interest for those concerned about the impact of different technical factors on the aroma and flavor of basil plants.

Productive, Morpho-Physiological, and Postharvest Performance of Six Basil Types Grown in a Floating Raft System: A Comparative Study.

Basil (Ocimum sp.) is one of the world's most famous culinary fresh herbs, characterized by rapid growth that makes it particularly suitable for hydroponic cultivation. This study aimed to evaluate the adaptability of six types of basil to a closed-loop hydroponic system (floating raft system) and their post-harvest performance. Twenty-three days after transplantation, productivity, morpho-physiological performance, and mineral profile (by ion chromatography) were evaluated. At 3, 6, and 9 days after harvest, the loss of water from the from leaves stored at 10 °C in the dark was evaluated. Although the total fresh production of Thai, Mexican, and Genovese did not differ significantly, the latter provided a higher fresh leaf weight (16.52 g of plant-1) despite a lower leaf number (30.06 n. of plant-1). Nine days after harvest, Thai and Mexican showed the lowest water loss. Although Mexican Purple had the lowest net CO2 assimilation, it accumulated the highest concentration of ascorbic acid (909.41 mg 100 g fw-1).

Application research of acoustic black hole in floating raft vibration isolation system

AbstractAcoustic black holes have good application prospects in the field of vibration and noise reduction. Based on engineering practice, this study proposes a systematic process method for the application of acoustic black hole structure in raft structure, which provides new ideas and references for improving the vibration isolation performance of floating raft system and reducing the level of ship vibration and noise. The influence law of each parameter on structural vibration and the recommended value range of each parameter are given, which provides support for the systematic method and process of the application of acoustic black holes in the raft structure. Then, the acoustic black hole process is applied to a floating raft system. According to the characteristics of the raft structure, an application scheme of the acoustic black hole in the raft structure is formed, and the vibration level drop of the floating raft vibration isolation system before and after the acoustic black hole is embedded, calculated, and analyzed. The changes further improve the vibration reduction and isolation performance of the raft system and effectively reduced the mechanical noise level of the ship’s cabin.

Zinc biofortification of hydroponically grown basil: Stress physiological responses and impact on antioxidant secondary metabolites of genotypic variants.

Ocimum basilicum L. is an aromatic plant rich in bioactive metabolites beneficial to human health. The agronomic biofortification of basil with Zn could provide a practical and sustainable solution to address Zn deficiency in humans. Our research appraised the effects of biofortification implemented through nutrient solutions of different Zn concentration (12.5, 25.0, 37.5, and 50 µM) on the yield, physiological indices (net CO2 assimilation rate, transpiration, stomatal conductance, and chlorophyll fluorescence), quality, and Zn concentration of basil cultivars 'Aroma 2' and 'Eleonora' grown in a floating raft system. The ABTS, DPPH, and FRAP antioxidant activities were determined by UV-VIS spectrophotometry, the concentrations of phenolic acids by mass spectrometry using a Q Extractive Orbitrap LC-MS/MS, and tissue Zn concentration by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Although increasing the concentration of Zn in the nutrient solution significantly reduced the yield, this reduction was less evident in 'Aroma 2'. However, regardless of cultivar, the use of the maximum dose of Zn (50 µM) increased the concentration of carotenoids, polyphenols, and antioxidant activity on average by 19.76, 14.57, and 33.72%, respectively, compared to the Control. The significant positive correlation between Zn in the nutrient solution and Zn in plant tissues underscores the suitability of basil for soilless biofortification programs.

Biostimulatory Action of Vegetal Protein Hydrolysate Compensates for Reduced Strength Nutrient Supply in a Floating Raft System by Enhancing Performance and Qualitative Features of "Genovese" Basil.

The floating raft constitutes a valuable system for growing herbs as it effectuates high yield and prime functional quality. However, the pressing need for advancing sustainability in food production dictates the reduction of chemical fertilizer inputs in such intensive production schemes through innovative cultivation practices. In this perspective, our work appraised the productive and qualitative responses of two “Genovese” basil genotypes (Eleonora and Italiano Classico) grown in a floating raft system with nutrient solutions of varied electrical conductivity (EC; 2 and 1 dS m−1) combined with root application of protein hydrolysate biostimulant at two dosages (0.15 and 0.3 0 ml L−1 of Trainer®). The phenolic composition, aromatic profile, and antioxidant activities (ABTS, DPPH, and FRAP) of basil were determined by UHPLC/HRMS, GC/MS, and spectrophotometry, respectively. “Eleonora” demonstrated higher number of leaves (37.04 leaves per plant), higher fresh yield (6576.81 g m−2), but lower polyphenol concentration (1440.81 μg g−1 dry weight) compared to “Italiano Classico.” The lower EC solution (1 dS m−1) increased total phenols (+32.5%), ABTS, DPPH, and FRAP antioxidant activities by 33.2, 17.1, and 15.8%, respectively, and decreased linalool relative abundance by 5.5%. Biostimulant application improved crop performance and increased total phenolic concentration in both genotypes, with the highest phenolic concentration (1767.96 μg g−1 dry weight) registered at the lowest dose. Significant response in terms of aromatic profile was detected only in “Eleonora.” Our results demonstrate that the application of protein hydrolysate may compensate for reduced strength nutrient solution by enhancing yield and functional quality attributes of “Genovese” basil for pesto.
