Peculiarities of remote teaching of the discipline "soil science with the basics of geology" for students of the agronomic specialty

The article examines the issue of organizing the study of the discipline "Soil science with the basics of geology" for students of the first year of studies of the Bachelor's degree program in the specialty 203 - horticulture, fruit and vegetable growing and viticulture in the system of distance and mixed learning. The purpose of distance learning is to provide an opportunity to acquire knowledge to all those who wish to obtain a profession or improve their professional qualifications. The change in the direction of the educational process and the main approaches to teaching methods in Ukraine is due to the influence of socio-political factors, which include the introduction of martial law in the country, the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection, and the corresponding restrictions caused by these events. The specificity of teaching all narrowly focused disciplines, including "Soil science with the basics of geology", requires special terminology, vocabulary for its functioning. The relevance of this topic takes place in the modern educational environment, because high-quality teaching of disciplines is not possible without using the means and opportunities provided by the Internet and computer technologies. The advantages and disadvantages of distance learning for teachers and students in the context of the introduction of e-learn technology are outlined. Presented materials for filling the lecture, laboratory, independent parts of the course "Soil science with the basics of geology". The topics of the lecture part of the course and the topics of laboratory works are given. The issues of the specifics of mastering the laboratory practicum of the course under a mixed form of education are discussed, because the applicant may not always have the opportunity to conduct laboratory research while on distance learning. Separate laboratory works require the direct participation of both the teacher and the student. The structure of the course, features of working with the course are presented.

Profession-Oriented CLIL Teaching: Language Activities for Geologists

The paper deals with establishing a connection between the labor market and English language teaching for geologists using the CLIL method. This means that the traditional method of learning the language for specific purposes is improved by a more intensive linguistic approach through the 4Cs model (content, cognition, communication, and culture) where academic teaching tries to be intimately connected with real life and the corresponding profession. In achieving that goal, the work offers teaching activities that combine academic and practical knowledge, which are adapted to the current moment and created according to the needs and expectations of users. For the sake of clarity, the paper is divided into the following parts: introduction, the logic of the connection between teaching geology and the labor market, the first part addresses the combination of geology, language skills, and occupations, the second part offers concrete examples of activities and their application in teaching, and finally, the concluding considerations where the importance of autonomous learning as a prerequisite for quality lifelong growth and self-fulfillment is highlighted. Without the ambition to reach the full scope of the described intention in the first year of study, our goal is for students to notice the value and connection between knowledge and the profession so that learning from the first lecture can be meaningful, motivated, and personalized.

Ground-cover management studies in kinnow orchard

The six ground-cover species viz. aloe vera, brahmi, lemongrass, mentha, stevia and turmeric, were grownin the kinnow orchard. The cultivation of mentha, intercropped with kinnow, exhibited better performance interms of fruit length (5.81cm), fruit breadth (6.77 cm), fruit weight (156.50 g) and fruit yield (61.04 Kg), followedby brahmi as compared to other treatments. The quality attributes like juice content, total soluble solids (TSS),titratable acidity (TA), and TSS/TA of fruits grown under different intercropping systems were statistically at parwith control during the first year of study. However, the highest juice content (46.32 %), TSS (11.28 %), TSS/TA(14.25) and minimum TA (0.79 %) were recorded in kinnow intercropped with mentha. The highest leaf N contentwas recorded in the cover crops of Kinnow + mentha (1.97 %), P and K content in Kinnow + brahmi (0.20 and1.35 %, respectively), while these were found to be the lowest in control. Overall, Kinnow + mentha and Kinnow+ brahmi proved to be effective intercropping systems in the Kinnow growing areas

First-year accounting students' experiences adjusting chalenges to university life

The object of research: to explores the adjustment experiences to university life of first year accounting students.
 Investigated problems: Adaptation challenges, to the university environment which creates significant stress, affect retention, academic performance, and social demands of first year students – all academic and social integrations are major challenges for first year students.
 The main scientific results: The findings for the study revealed that first-year accounting students report encouraging and undesirable academic and social adjustment experiences respectively. Encouraging academic adjustment experiences related to the availability of support from departmental personnel from the faculty. Undesirable academic experiences included lack of time management, and workload and independence issues.
 The area of practical use of the research results: Encouraging social adjustment included, among others, the introduction of mentors to first years, as well as a wellness center; on the other hand, undesirable social adjustment highlighted independence and disintegration. The study further suggests that universities, through their student support services and faculties, should have in place support strategies, as well as a programme, which promote the interaction of first year students within their institutions throughout their first year of study.
 Innovative technological product: According to the findings, the study recommends coordinated methods to ensure that the first year's accountings receive full support in order to help them successfully adapt to and fit into the new environment. The introduction of electronic platforms that allow first-year stakeholders to organize students and interact with their lecturers and other support structures like mentors and supplemental instructors (SI) a few weeks before the official class sessions is promoted. Additionally, it might be recommended for the wellness center to host workshops for freshmen on time management, managing the workload at the institution, and how independence can occasionally work against a student's academic wellbeing.

Exploring mental representations of prospective teachers about gifted education using associative group analysis

ABSTRACT Teachers’ mental representations significantly shape their attitudes and guide their professional behavior. This study focuses on identifying prospective teachers’ mental representations of gifted students and their education, using the AGA technique. In a cross-sectional study, 480 prospective teachers (M age = 20.73 years) listed the associations about two selected concepts (i.e., gifted student and gifted education). The identified semantic categories of the prospective teachers’ associations indicate that the participants’ mental representations of gifted students primarily concern the psychosocial characteristics. These mental representations suggest that gifted students excel academically in general or in specific domains. Other psychosocial characteristics of gifted students are underrepresented, including characteristics of twice-exceptional gifted students. The analysis of associations with the concept of gifted education, on the other hand, shows the dominance of the semantic category of concrete didactic-methodological adaptations, with additional and challenging tasks predominating. Prospective teachers in their final year of study more frequently express associations with weaknesses in the implementation of gifted education in practice than prospective teachers in their first year of study. In general, the mental representations reflect an awareness of the importance of gifted education in terms of an enumeration of active working methods, differentiation, and critical reflection on existing practice.

The Influence of Dwarfing Interstock on Biometric Growth Parameters of Apple

Apple trees grown on seedling rootstock often develop into large and vigorous trees making its management difficult. By using vigorous rootstocks only few trees can be accommodated per hectare making the productivity less profitable. Several dwarfing rootstocks of apple are available which need support system and incur heavy investment during orchard establishment. It would be ideal to obtain a tree with very good root system, to avoid the need for supporting systems and also with a low height, which can be achieved using the interstem. Therefore, in the present investigation M9 clonal interstem comprised of 2,4,6 and 8inches length were grafted between seedling rootstock and scion of two cultivars i.e., Red Delicious and American Apirouge which are most common and predominant cultivars in orchards of Kashmir. The average sapling height was to the tune of 38.85cm and 41.01 cm in Red Delicious and American Apirouge during first year of study. There was a progressive increase in the height of plant with decreasing interstem length. In both the apple cultivars stem diameter increased with decrease in interstem length but was lower than control during both the years of study, The rootstock influences the biometric parameters of the grafted trees. The results showed that increased interstem length significantly decreased sapling height and growth whereas, days taken to sprouting and survival per cent were non significant. Thus, it appeared as if the dwarfing rootstock genotype used as an inter-stem functioned as a kind of physical restriction to water movement and probably reduced the hydraulic conductance of the whole tree.

STUDENTS’ PHONEMIC TRANSCRIPTION ERROR ANALYSIS: A CASE STUDY IN TUZLA AND BANJA LUKA ENGLISH DEPARTMENTS

This paper examines phonemic transcription errors of L2 learners of English, majoring in English language and literature, undergraduate students affiliated with the English Departments in two of the country’s major university cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), as case study and provides a comparison of their performance across several levels. The paper is a result of collaboration between two English Departments in BiH, one based in Tuzla and the other one in Banja Luka. The main focus of the paper is to look into English phonemic transcription errors made by students of English at the Bachelor’s level.The study encompasses a total of 30 students from the English Department in Tuzla, and 40 students in the Banja Luka English Department in the academic year 2022/2023. All students attended the English Phonetics and Phonology courses taught during the first year of study. Students’ English transcription errors were first collected and then analysed and categorised, respectively, focusing on the most important aspects of connected speech. More specifically, the study shows the extent to which the two groups of students, following the same curriculum and syllabus, developed their English phonemic transcription skills, with a particular focus on the use of diacritics for aspirated and unexploded plosives, velarized, dental and syllabic consonants. Additionally, keeping in mind that various phonological phenomena are found in connected speech, the paper focuses on coalescence (the coalescent type of assimilation) as one of the most frequent such phenomena found in everyday usage. In the concluding remarks, the paper discusses the levels to which both groups of students in the two English Departments have succeeded in comprehending basic terms in this field, an understanding of the sound system in English, and to what degree they mastered narrow transcription skills in particular.

Canopy-mediated microclimate refugia do not match narrow regeneration niches in a managed dry conifer forest

Structurally heterogeneous forest conditions provide diverse microclimates which can support juvenile tree regeneration, survival, and growth. However, the extent to which juvenile trees depend on moderated microclimates depends on their physical maturity and species-specific tolerances for environmental stresses related to variables like soil moisture, heat, and shade. Linking juvenile responses to microclimates for different life-stages and species facilitates more nuanced understanding of regeneration niches and is especially important in dry conifer forests where structurally heterogeneous conditions are a frequent objective of forest restoration treatments. In this study, we sampled microclimate conditions and planted seeds and greenhouse-grown seedlings across a range of overstory structure and microclimate conditions in a heterogeneous forest restoration treatment in Colorado, USA. We assessed how fine-scale (∼1–20 m) spatial variation in overstory structure and topography related to variability in microclimate conditions and, collectively, how these biophysical conditions influenced survival and growth of ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa var. scopulorum) and Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca) over 3 years. We found evidence of strong canopy buffering of mean daily vapor pressure deficit (VPD), but buffering of daily maximum VPD was moderate, and buffering of soil moisture was weak except in the hottest and driest month of our 3-year study. Although canopy cover provided refuge from hot and dry conditions, survival and growth of juvenile trees across life-stages and species were greatest in above-average canopy openness, with warm and dry microclimate conditions in May. The spatial patterns of seedling establishment relative to canopy cover, driven by early-season microclimate conditions, did not match canopy-mediated, moderate microclimates later in growing seasons when weather conditions were most limiting. Importantly, our results reflect a specific regeneration trajectory initiated by favorable early-growing season conditions in the first year of study, which promoted survival and growth resilience through subsequent limiting conditions, most notably a hot and dry second year of study. The patterns observed in this study are consistent with drivers of landscape-scale regeneration previously identified for dry conifer forests and show that overstory structure and microclimate variation can mediate these patterns at very fine spatial scales. The narrow spatial and temporal ranges of conditions which supported survival and growth in this study highlight opportunities for restoration treatment planning in similar forests, but also underscore the susceptibility of these dominant dry forest species to potential future changes in the timing and intensity of abiotic conditions which limit regeneration success.

Pemetaan Pemahaman Konsep Analisis Pengukuran Fisika dan Mekanika Analitik Pada Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Fisika Tahun Pertama

Physics education study program students should have a high level of understanding of physics concepts. However, in reality the level of understanding of physics concepts for students in physics education study programs is still low. The aim of this research is to determine the distribution of students' level of conceptual understanding in the physics education study program in their first year. The research method used by the author is quantitative descriptive. This research was conducted on 43 Class C Physics Education study program students Class C of 2022 in their first year studying at Yogyakarta State University. The results of this research show that the level of conceptual understanding of Physics Education study program students in the Physics Measurement Analysis (APF) and Analytical Mechanics courses is very different in their first year of study with the average UAS score in the APF course being 2.89 and in the Analytical Mechanics course of 9.04. Therefore, alternatives are needed to improve and equalize student understanding of concepts in courses in the Physics Education study program, one of which is by improving the quality of teaching and organization in the learning process, increasing student involvement in learning physics, using effective learning methods to increase understanding. physics concepts, as well as increasing collaboration between students, lecturers and institutions in increasing understanding of physics concepts.

By succumbing to the propaganda that design is about creating the 'new', we escape from reflecting on the moment of discovery in a living ecosystem. Reflective practice allows us to understand the continuity of development and provides an opportunity to engage speculative users in the acceptance of a symbiotically designed space, as opposed to revolutionary acts of uncritical design. The combination of theory and practice on the basis of projects carried out in the first years of study leads to Poiesis, as well as a sense of responsibility for lost natural capital, progressive gentrification or the disappearance of local activity.

Perceptions of Students and Teachers Regarding the Impact of Cadaver-Less Online Anatomy Education on Quality of Learning, Skills Development, Professional Identity Formation, and Economics in Medical Students.

Anatomy is one of the most important basic sciences in medical education and is the foundation for doctors to develop clinical skills. In the last few years, anatomy teaching has been transformed from hands-on practice into online modalities. In this study, we aimed to determine the perceptions of students and teachers about learning anatomy without using cadavers (cadaver-less) from a knowledge, technological, and humanistic perspective. The research was carried out in the Faculty of Medicine at Hasanuddin University, located in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, over a period from June to August 2021. A focus group discussion was extended to all medical students in their first year of study following their completion of online anatomy lessons. Furthermore, educators responsible for instructing anatomy in the initial year were sent an invitation to participate in a one-on-one interview with the principal investigator. In general, the results of the study complied with what has been known from the literature about the quality of online learning and its advantages and disadvantages. However, our discussions with students and interviews with teachers revealed that anatomy education without the use of cadavers is perceived as undesirable as it negatively impacts the identity formation of the future physician. It also takes away the opportunity for students to develop empathy for humanity.

Validation study for the Academic Maladjustment Questionnaire on a Romanian sample.

The problem of academic dropout in the first year of studies represents an important issue for higher education, in that it accounts for an important indicator of quality but also for the negative consequences it produces on individual, institutional and social level. The main aim of the study is to validate and evaluate a robust measure of overall academic maladjustment. The participants were 809 first-year students from various Romanian universities. The results showed a reliable version of the instrument with a factorial structure that did not deviate significantly from the authors' initial model. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis revealed a unified score including six dimensions, procrastination, dishonesty - unethical behavior, test anxiety, machiavellian attitude, neuroticism, and somatization. Our results confirmed that besides academic achievement, personal factors are important indicators of adjustment, showing that personal resources management, emotional and behavioral strategies are components of adjustment. Our study revealed a medium and positive correlation between overall maladjustment and academic dropout intention, procrastination seemed to be the most relevant predictor of dropout intention. Academic adjustment acts as a safeguard against dropping out, and it is crucial to acknowledge that most students enter college with the intention of completing their studies.

Examining Fijian first-year university students’ English proficiency on CEFR levels

English is the main lingua franca among the various ethnolinguistic groups in Fiji. This results in a sociocultural problem when students enter universities from different high school backgrounds. To this end, this study analysed the level of difference in writing abilities at the beginning of the first year of study and at the end of the first-year program of undergraduate students. The goal was to generate new insights that could inform ongoing efforts towards ameliorating academic English language proficiency in Fiji. The study took place at a university in Fiji where 120 students were sampled at the beginning of the first year and at the end of their first year of university program. This study used the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to evaluate student writing skills and for the development of curricula to meet students’ needs. The study employed quantitative research design to a longitudinal language testing research context. The CEFR was successful in gauging the student’s preparedness for university study and work life. Out of the 120 students, it was observed that from the 62 students who were at the A1 level at the end beginning of the year progressed to levels B1 and B2. Out of 62, 21 moved to B1 where 41 moved to B2. Further, 49 students from A2 level also progressed as 44 of these students had B2 and another 5 made substantial improvement by moving up to C1 level. The findings of this study can be used in improving support systems to enhance the smooth transition of multilingual students from high school through university and into the workforce. The analyses have the potential to provide insights into how Fijian undergraduate students are performing compared to students in other countries and how the EFL curriculum might be adapted to students’ needs.

FLOWERING ANNUALS PRODUCTION BEHAVIOR AGAINST DIVERSE NUTRITIONAL MANAGEMENT

The marigold and zinnia are prominent in the horticulture industry and are widely growing flowering annuals in Pakistan. The well-timed study sought to investigate the effect of different fertilizer combinations on flowering annuals marigold and zinnia. The experiment comprised a completely randomized design with four replications during 2019 and 2020 at the Plant Genetic Resource Institute, National Agricultural Research Center, Islamabad, Pakistan. The data included recording days to bud formation (DBF), days to flower persistence (DFP), flowers per plant (NFP), and days to flower senescence (DFS). Significant differences were recordable among the genotypes and treatments. Average DBF under applications of NPK fertilizers and Grow More + HB101 + Vitafeed (foliar application) revealed higher during the first year of study compared with the second year. The most effective foliar application treatment for DBF of marigold and zinnia resulted in 0.18 g Grow More + 0.18 g HB101 + 0.18 g Vitafeed. A higher number of DBF marigolds occurred for treatment 20% N + 16% P + 14% K, and the same emerged for NFP. Average days for flower persistence in marigold and zinnia were higher under manures application compared with NPK and foliar application. The higher number of DFP of both plants existed for treatment 75% leaf compost (LC) + 25% soil. The organic and inorganic fertilizers may help develop plant health, resistance to early flower senescence, and large flower size of both marigold and zinnia.

The Reflection of Online Education during the Covid-19 Pandemic on Nursing Students' Care Behaviors and Stress

The pandemic period creates a feeling of inadequacy in applying the education that students receive. During this period, students who receive online education seem to feel inadequate and experience stress in a practical lesson. It aims to evaluate the level of changing the care behaviors of undergraduate nursing students and the stress they experience during the Covid-19 process. This research was completed with a nursing student in 2192 in Turkey. The research is descriptive and relationship-seeking. Data were collected at the end of the semester with the caring behaviors competency and the stress scale. t-tests, Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests, and correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students are predominantly in the first year of study. A significant difference was found in the perceived stress level according to the variables of gender, education level, perceived care sufficiency, and the type of university attended. It was determined that the caring behaviors of male students were higher than females, and those in private schools were higher than those in public universities. Nursing students' age, class, and perceived stress scores significantly affect their care behavior. Nursing education in Turkey focuses on care-based education which emphasizes skill development across the BSN program, establishing measurable care behavior, and ensuring that managing student stress is part of the curriculum content.

Особенности школьной адаптации учащихся с расстройствами аутистического спектра на первом году обучения

<p style="text-align: justify;">The article discusses the results of the initial stage of a longitudinal study of the school adaptation of children with autism spectrum disorders studying in primary school. The study sample is represented by 78 first-graders with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who study in 20 schools from 14 Russian regions. The study was based on the method of expert assessments obtained through questionnaires of teachers and parents of students. We used the “Expert assessment of a child’s adaptation to school” methodology modified for the needs of the study (V.I. Chirkov, O.V. Sokolova, O.L. Sorokina) and a questionnaire for assessing social skills and behavior of schoolchildren with ASD by L.V. Shargorodskaya. The dynamics of school adaptation of students with ASD was assessed in relation to their personal and educational achievements. By the end of the first year of study, a positive dynamic of the level of school adaptation was found in the sample study. At the same time, educational achievements were more pronounced and personal achievements associated with the expansion of communication opportunities and socialization of children were extremely low. The influence of a number of factors on the school adaptation of children with ASD was revealed, the most significant of which was the factor of children attending correctional classes at preschool age (at least two years). Special school preparation classes (at least one year) and kindergarten attendance at preschool age (at least two years) proved to be significant factors of school adaptation for children with ASD and intellectual disabilities. This sample revealed a negligible impact of remedial classes conducted in the first year of study on the educational results of students with ASD and the absence of the influence of this factor on their personal achievements. Further observation of the group of children included in the study during their primary school education will allow to clarify and supplement the data obtained.</p>

Evaluation of the efficiency of highly realistic simulation during the selection of ALV parameters in ARDS

The objective wasto evaluate the efficiency of the highly realistic simulator “Test Chest” in training residents in the specialty “Anesthesiology and Resus-citation” in the alveolar recruitment maneuver and the de-escalation option for setting positive end-expiratory pressure in ARDS during a practical session.Materials and methods. The study included 28 residents of the first year of study in the specialty «Anesthesiology and Resuscitation», who were divided into two groups. The 1st group – residents who were given theoretical classes before the study: lectures and a seminar on the topic: «Respiratory support in ARDS» and the 2nd group (simulation) – in addition to the lectures, the trainees had preliminary practical classes in the simulation center with a demonstration of the method of selecting ALV parameters in ARDS and independent performance of the alveolar recruit[1]ment maneuver, setting the positive pressure at the end of exhalation. In the simulation center, students were offered a situational task, the solution of which involved determining the clinical picture and selecting the necessary ALV parameters. The evaluation was carried out by two teachers independently using a checklist modified for objective student evaluation.Results. In the 1st group, 4 (28%) trainees coped with the task, in the 2nd group, in 13 cases (95%), the task was successfully completed. In the course of the study, the trainees of both groups revealed difficulties in selecting ALV parameters in ARDS, which required a more detailed consideration of these issues, both in theoretical and practical classes. Conclusion. The use of the highly realistic simulator “Test Chest” in the selection of ALV parameters in ARDS during a practical session makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of training in the alveolar recruitment maneuver and the de-escalation option for setting positive end-expiratory pressure in ARDS for residents in the specialty “Anesthesiology and resuscitation”.

The influence of sports games on the Physical Fitness of first-year students

The article examines the level of Physical Fitness of 18-year-old female students of the first year of study, who in terms of health belong to the main medical group. At the beginning of the study, the level of development of speed, coordination abilities, flexibility and leg muscle strength of the girls was determined and a low level of Physical Fitness of the participants was revealed. Female students were divided into three levels of groups: the first – in the process of Physical Education, they used volleyball equipment, the second – basketball, and the third – footballl. After three months of classes, the test was repeated, which revealed the selective effect of sports games on various indicators of Physical Fitness. Namely, when using volleyball in classes, the biggest changes were observed in the indicators of the "leaning forward from a sitting position" test. In the group that used football equipment, the best dynamics were observed in the "shuttle run 4*9 m" test. We obtained the best positive changes in leg strength indicators (long jump from a standing test) in the group that used basketball equipment during Physical Education classes. Such selectivity of the impact of sports games on various Physical Qualities can be successfully used when purposefully used to solve the problems of increasing the Physical Fitness of female students.

Barriers to student engagement

ABSTRACT The importance of student engagement is long recognised. Students who are more engaged will be more motivated and inclined to complete their studies. The aim of this study is to understand barriers to engagement for first-year computing students, a cohort that traditionally have high non-progression rates. A qualitative descriptive design was adopted. Retrospective impressions of students’ experience were sought through focus group sessions with students who have completed their first year of studies, with a view to understanding how barriers to engagement may be contributing to issues around non-progression and retention. Data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. Two superordinate themes emerged: Academic preparedness of the different student groups and The student lecturer dynamic. This study has highlighted the need for third level to cater for a diverse student landscape and the importance of fostering a sense of community between students, staff and institutions at large. The study also provides some insight into enhancing student engagement.

Молодежный сленг в речи студентов: роль в коммуникации, масштабы распространения, причины и особенности употребления

The article analyzes the reasons, peculiarities of usage, role in communication, and the extent of spread of youth slang among students. In 2023, the author conducted a survey and testing of students and graduate students from universities in the Central Federal District in order to study their knowledge of everyday and student slang, as well as their knowledge of Russian language spelling and punctuation. It was found that slang is one of the important elements (attributes) of a student's social status, as it demonstrates belonging to a specific group and indicates the position a person occupies in the university hierarchy. Slang allows to describe everyday reality in the most concise, accessible, emotional and comprehensive way, while expressing one's attitude towards it (event, action, etc.). Additionally, it has been established that girls (who know slang) have a similar level of slang proficiency as boys, but unlike boys, they tend to use it less in everyday practice. It has been revealed that girls avoid using non-academic slang when communicating with boys, although they are perfectly capable of using it. Instead, they prefer actively using slang related to the educational process, rather than describing reality beyond its limits. It has been found that one of the main reasons for the rapid appearance of new words in youth slang is the swift adoption of borrowings from English, French, and other foreign languages, as well as active borrowing of words after watching foreign movies and listening to foreign music. Out-of-town students possess a different range of slang and jargon than those who study in universities in their own city. As a result, an exchange of slang and jargon takes place. Students, regardless of their field of study, mostly use slang related to the educational process, rather than everyday life. Girls, more than boys, use slang terms that express qualities of a person. Students and undergraduates of different nationalities use different slang words and jargon. It was revealed that students from different regions of Russia are familiar with different slang expressions, which creates certain difficulties and complicates interpersonal communication during their adaptation on the first year of studies. It has been established that the majority of girls, unlike boys, prefer to use jargon and slang with positive or neutral connotations rather than negative ones. The research shows that students who frequently use slang and jargon in their everyday activities (outside of studying) have lower academic performance compared to those who use slang less. In conclusion, the author suggests implementing measures aimed at studying the Russian language and literature among students.
