A hybrid piezoelectric-electromagnetic body energy harvester: Design and experiment validation

Abstract The rapid advancement of electronic devices and wireless sensors has heightened the demand for energy sustainability and portable power solutions. This paper proposes a hybrid piezoelectric-electromagnetic energy harvesting (HP-EEH) structure designed to enhance the efficiency of kinetic energy conversion within the human body. Firstly, the structure and principle of the energy capture device are introduced, and the electromechanical coupling model of the energy harvester is derived using Hamilton's principle. Furthermore, the system is numerically simulated, and the voltage output characteristics of the piezoelectric unit and the electromagnetic unit are analyzed by using the finite element analysis software. Finally, the experimental setup of the (HP-EEH) is constructed, and the voltage output characteristics are tested for different swinging angles and positions. The results show that two parts of energy can be captured simultaneously under ultra-low-frequency motion conditions. At a swing angle of 50 degrees, the piezoelectric and electromagnetic units achieved maximum output power values of 14.96 µW at 0.8 Hz and 10.4 µW at 1.2 Hz, respectively. Incorporating the output power of the electromagnetic unit aims to address the power consumption requirements of low-power devices better.

Analysis of Wind Response of Braced and Unbraced Tall Building

As high-rise buildings become increasingly prevalent worldwide, their complex structural components and the need for high stability pose challenges for safety and design requirements. The present study investigates the influence of bracing systems and plan aspect ratios on the ability of tall buildings to withstand wind loads. The study aims to analyze the effects of these variables on the wind-induced responses of tall buildings and improve bracing system design for structures with high aspect ratios. Numerical simulations using finite element analysis software are conducted, creating various building models with different aspect ratios and bracing systems. The displacement, drift, base shear responses and time period of each model are examined to evaluate the effectiveness of different bracing systems. The results highlight the significant impact of aspect ratio on the response to wind loads, with larger aspect ratios experiencing greater motion and stress. However, well-designed bracing systems prove effective in reducing wind-induced motion and stress. The study provides insights on best bracing system for different aspect ratios, offering valuable insights for creating safer and more resilient high-rise buildings.

Effect of loading angle and fabrication materials on stress distribution with periodontal splint in compromised periodontal tissues: a finite element study

Objective: To evaluate the effect of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) periodontal splints and splints made from other materials under static loading on stress distributions in periodontal tissues, cement layer, and splints themselves. Methods: A finite element model based on cone-beam CT imaging data of a 25-year-old male patient (treated at the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Stomatology, The Fourth Military Medical University in October 2021 for a cracked maxillary molar) with a healthy and intact mandibular dentition and periodontal health was constructed. The finite element model included anterior mandible dentition, mandibular bone model without bone resorption (WBR group), a periodontally compromised mandible model (control group), and three types of periodontal splints: a PEEK periodontal splint (0.7 mm thick, Young's modulus: 4.1 MPa), a fiber-reinforced resin (FRC) splint (1.0 mm thick, Young's modulus: 37.0 MPa), and a titanium splint (1.2 mm thick, Young's modulus: 110.0 MPa). The bone resorption models fixed with different periodontal splints constituted the experimental groups (PEEK group, FRC group and titanium group). Loading of 100 N was applied on the midpoint of the incisal edge of tooth 41. The direction was set at 0°, which was parallel to the long axis of the tooth and downward. The buccal to lingual and downward angles were 30°and 60°, respectively, perpendicular to the long axis of the tooth and 90° to the lingual side. The finite element analysis software was utilized to analyze the stress distribution characteristics of the periodontal tissues, adhesive layer, and the splint itself in the anterior mandibular teeth among the different group. Results: Under the different loading simulation, in the control group, the maximal von Mises stresses of periodontal ligament and bone were 15.7-50.2 MPa and 38.8-130.3 MPa, respectively, and in the WBR group, the maximal von Mises stresses of periodontal ligament and bone were 3.6-6.4 MPa and 16.5-42.7 MPa, respectively. Under the same loading conditions, the magnitude of maximal von Mises stresses in periodontal tissues in the PEEK group was 4.6-6.2 MPa, and the magnitude of stresses in the periodontal ligament of 41 teeth in the WBR group was similar to that in the PEEK group, but higher than that in the FRC and titanium groups. The maximal von Mises stresses of each group is primarily distributed in the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone at the cervical area of the tooth. The higher the elastic modulus of the splint, the higher its own maximal von Mises stresses, and the smaller the maximal principal stresses transmitted to the adhesive layer. In the PEEK group and titanium group, the stress distribution area in the adhesive layer and the splint was near the splint connection adjacent to tooth 41. Conclusions: Periodontal splints fabricated from three types of materials, are effective in distributing stress within the periodontal tissues of the abutment teeth. Compared to FRC and titanium group, the higher PEEK splint stress value was obtained, and the smaller the stress value was transmitted to its adhesive layer.

Design and Simulation Study of Structural Parameters of Bionic Cutters for Tea Harvest Imitating Aeolesthes induta Newman

The cutter of the hand-held tea picker is the key cutting component in the efficient tea harvesting process. In order to solve the problems of large cutting resistance and uneven incision during tea picking, this study fully applied the bionics principle to combine the excellent cutting performance of Aeolesthes induta Newman’s mandibles with the tea cutter, which extracted and fitted the tooth profile structure curve of the upper edge of the Aeolesthes induta Newman’s mandibles. The trapezoidal teeth on the reciprocating cutter of ordinary hand-held tea-picking harvesters were optimized by the fitted curve, and a new tea cutter with the shape of Aeolesthes induta Newman teeth was obtained, which included four kinds of bionic tea-harvesting cutters. The multi-body system software ADAMS 2020 and finite element analysis software ANSYS 2024R1 were used to compare the kinematics, statics and explicit dynamics of cutting properties of the four bionic cutters and common cutters with ordinary trapezoidal teeth and saw teeth. The simulation results showed that the maximum equivalent elastic strain and the maximum cutting force during the cutting operation were reduced by 36.7% and 42.89%, respectively, for the cutting teeth of the bionic tea-harvesting cutter #4 compared with that of the cutter with ordinary trapezoidal teeth. The bionic tea-harvesting cutter designed in this study has better cutting performance than the cutter with traditional cutting teeth, which can effectively reduce the cutting force and improve the flatness and cutting quality of the cutting surface.

Seismic evaluation of plan irregular reinforced concrete building equipped with comb teeth metallic passive damper

Active and passive damping devices exhibit significant energy dissipating behavior under seismic loads and are being used to control vibration in buildings worldwide. Comb Teeth Damper (CTD) is one of the most promising recent types of passive dampers which consist of steel plates with multiple teeth designed to dissipate seismic energy by in-plane flexural yielding. In this study, the CTD was modeled and analyzed under lateral cyclic load using the finite element analysis software, ABAQUS. The first phase of this investigation was a comprehensive parametric study on CTD with two different numbers of teeth, namely 4 teeth (4 CTD) and 5 teeth (5 CTD); each model with six different thicknesses, namely 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 mm. The parametric study showed that by increasing the number of teeth, the load-carrying capacity, initial stiffness, and energy dissipation capacity have increased considerably. A similar trend was observed when the thickness of the damper was increased. From the results of the parametric study, 5CTD with 15 mm thickness damper model was identified as a suitable model for utilizing in Reinforced Concrete (RC) buildings using optimization algorithm. In the second phase, a G + 14 storey plan irregular RC building was modeled in the structural engineering software ETABS and subjected to six different strong earthquake ground motions. The non-linear time history analysis was performed on the building with and without identified CTD and found that the building equipped with dampers reduced 56% top displacement, 60% inter-storey drift, and 33% energy dissipation.

Numerical Simulations of a Permeability Test on Non-Cohesive Soil Under an Increasing Water Level

With the intensification of global climate change, extreme rainfall events are occurring more frequently. Continuous rainfall causes the debris flow gully to collect a large amount of rainwater. Under the continuous increase in the water level, the water flow has enough power to carry plenty of loose solids, thus causing debris flow disasters. The intensity of the soil is reduced with the infiltration of rainwater, which is one of the key causes of the disaster. The rise in the water level affects the infiltration behavior. There have been few previous studies on infiltration under variable head. In order to understand the infiltration behavior of soils under the action of water level rises, this paper conducted an indoor permeability test on non-cohesive soil under the condition of an increasing water level. A numerical model was established using the finite element analysis software, Abaqus 6.14, and the pore pressure was increased intermittently to simulate the intermittent increase in the water level. Thereafter, the permeability coefficient and seepage length were changed to interpret the changes in the flow velocity and rate in the permeability test of the non-cohesive soil. The results showed that the finite element numerical simulation method could not reflect the particle movement process in the soil. The test could better reflect the through passage and void plugging phenomenon in soil; when the permeability coefficient alone changed, the velocity of the measuring point with higher velocity changed more violently with the permeability coefficient; when the length of soil seepage diameter was uniformly shortened, the velocity of water flow increased faster and faster.

Advanced optimization of elastic sheets for solar parabolic trough concentrators: integrating particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithms

Abstract The fabrication of solar parabolic trough concentrators using flat elastic sheets presents a straightforward and cost-effective method. This paper introduces an optimization technique centered on stiffness adjustment, harnessing elastic buckling to attain precise parabolic shapes in these concentrators. Through an enhanced Particle Swarm Optimization-Genetic Algorithm (PSO-GA), strategically punched holes are optimized on the flat sheet, allowing for the attainment of perfect parabolic shapes by controlling the chord length with a positional rod or cable. The efficacy of this approach is showcased not only through interactive finite element analysis and ray tracing software simulations but also via experimental sunlight concentration. A geometric concentration ratio of up to 145.16 is achieved, underscoring the effectiveness of this innovative concept. This approach facilitates the simple fabrication and transportation of flat mirror elements to field sites, where they can be assembled into parabolic trough concentrators, offering potential cost reductions and highly efficient solar energy solutions.

Progressive failure mechanism of existing-supplementary double-layer piles retaining excavation beneath existing underground space

The increasing degree of urbanization has resulted in traffic and space congestion. When there is no longer any aboveground space for development, the existing space underground is excavated, and the construction of underground buildings is expected to solve the above problems. In the excavation of an underground layer, it is necessary to drive supplementary and existing piles into the soil to form a double-layer pile-supported structure. Aiming at an existing–supplementary double-layer pile-supported structure and considering the pile spacing of the supplementary piles, use of crown beams, and other factors, this study performed a series of indoor model tests and an simulation analysis in combination with finite element analysis software to reveal the bearing characteristics of this structure. The results showed that the installation of supplementary piles could effectively inhibit soil slippage after pile driving, redistribute the soil pressure load of the existing piles, and reduce the number of soil cracks between the piles. With the increase in the supplementary pile spacing, the deformation of the existing–supplementary double-stacked piles gradually intensified, and the bending moment of the pile body and the horizontal displacement at the top of the piles increased. The installation of crown beams in the existing piles could strengthen the connection between the existing and supplementary piles, reduce the number of soil cracks between these piles, and change the force mode of the pile body. Considering the geological conditions and the influence of existing buildings, the deformation laws of the supporting structure and the soil around the foundation piles during the excavation of an underground layer of an L-shaped foundation pit were revealed. The research results are expected to provide a scientific and theoretical basis for the design and construction of downward additional support structures for existing buildings, along with socio-economic significance.

Performance study of GaN-based betavoltaic nuclear batteries with 3D interfaces

This study presents a design of a 3D interface simulation model featuring an inverted pyramid structure. Our objective is to forecast the performance of GaN-based betavoltaic nuclear batteries with the PN junction 3D interface structures comparing a practical machining process. Initially, we computed the electron-hole pairs (EHPs) generation rate in GaN materials irradiated by both 63Ni and 147Pm sources using Geant4. Furthermore, we employed COMSOL Multiphysics, a finite element analysis software, to simulate the EHPs transport phenomena within the battery and investigate the influence of structural parameters on the output performance. Despite maintaining thicknesses of the P- and N-regions and consistent doping concentrations (Hp-GaN, Hn-GaN, Na, and Nd) as constants, the simulation results revealed notable disparities in the short-circuit current density (Jsc), open-circuit voltage (Voc), and maximum output power density (Pmax) among batteries irradiated with various radioactive sources. Subsequently, we investigated the output performance of the nuclear battery by altering parameters such as the number of inverted pyramid structures, junction depth, and type of radioactive source. Our investigation revealed that selecting 63Ni as the radioactive source, with Na at 1017 cm−3, Nd at 1014 cm−3, a junction depth of 0.1 μm, and inverted pyramid structures of 25, resulted in the following battery performance parameters: a short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 0.648 μA/cm2, an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 2.3481 V, and a maximum output power density (Pmax) of 1.2949 μW/cm2. Substituting the radioactive source with 147Pm, the average short-circuit current density, Jsc, increased to 56.865 μA/cm2, and the maximum output power density, Pmax, increased to 94.975 μW/cm2, It's a significant enhancement in output performance.

Lay-up design and experimental study of the multiple corrugated diaphragms of carbon fiber reinforced polymer composite

Rebound and deformation of stainless steel during processing have brought great difficulties to forming the multiple corrugated diaphragm (MCD), seriously affecting its performance. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer composite (CFRP) provides a new idea for the design and forming methods of MCD due to its excellent performance and designability. This paper uses ABAQUS finite element analysis software to analyze the influence of laying angle and laying angle ratio on the mechanical properties of composite material MCD. Finally, the axial stiffness of the designed CFRP MCD is tested using a flexible coupling stiffness test bench. The findings demonstrate that the design values are consistent with the experimental results within an acceptable margin of error. The investigation validates the feasibility of the proposed laying design method for CFRP multi-waveform membrane discs (MCDs) and establishes a theoretical foundation for their engineering design and practical application.

Optimization method of parameters inverse identification for hot deformation constitutive model of 2Cr13 martensitic stainless steel using genetic algorithm

Constitutive models are considered a key prerequisite to investigate the thermal deformation behavior of materials. Accurate identification of their parameters is crucial for enhancing the predictive precision of the models. A novel optimization method for accurate inverse identification of parameters using the genetic algorithm (GA) in the Modified Zerilli-Armstrong (MZA) model was proposed in this work. Under conditions of temperatures ranging from 1223 K to 1473 K at intervals of 50 K and strain rates of 0.01, 0.1, 1, and 5 s−1, uniaxial isothermal hot compression tests were performed on 2Cr13 martensitic stainless steel (MSS) employing a Gleeble-1500D thermal simulation test machine. Based on the experimental data, the conventional linear regression method was utilized to solve the MZA model of 2Cr13 MSS. Initial values for the material constants I1, S1, C5, and C6 to be optimized were assigned drawing from the calculated results. The GA-based iteratively optimized MZA (G-ZA) model was established by minimizing the mean squared error as an objective function between the experimental and predicted flow stress values. Compared to the MZA model, a significant enhancement in predictive performance was achieved with the G-ZA model, while good generalization was also demonstrated. Both models were successfully integrated into the Forge® finite element analysis software through the secondary development of user subroutines. Numerical simulation results indicated that the G-ZA model demonstrated a better agreement with the experimental data in predicting the load-displacement curve. This validated that a more accurate constitutive model for the hot deformation of 2Cr13 MSS can be effectively constructed using the GA-based parameter inverse identification strategy.

Electric field simulation, structure and properties of nanofiber- coated yarn prepared by multi-needle water bath electrospinning.

To address the issue of low yield in the preparation of nanofiber materials using single-needle electrospinning technology, multi-needle electrospinning technology has emerged as a crucial solution for mass production. However, the mutual interference of multiple electric fields between the needles can cause significant randomness in the morphology of the produced nanofibers. To better predict the influence of electric field distribution on nanofiber morphology, simulation analysis of the multi-needle arrangement was conducted using finite element analysis software. Nanofiber-coated yarn was produced continuously with the core yarn rotating. The water bath was utilized as the receiver of nanofibers on self-made water bath electrospinning equipment. The electric field distribution and mutual interference under seven different needle arrangements was simulated and analyzed by finite element analysis software ANSYS Maxwell. The results indicated that when the needles were arranged diagonally in a staggered pattern and directly above the core yarn, the simulated electric field distribution was relatively uniform, with less mutual interference. The produced nanofibers exhibited a finer diameter and the diameter distribution was more concentrated. In addition, the nanofiber coating showed higher crystallinity and better mechanical properties.&#xD.

Analysis and Design of High Power Density Flyback Converter

ABSTRACTThis paper presents a flyback converter with high efficiency and high power density. An optimal design method for high power density planar transformers is presented. Applying the principle of flux cancellation, a matrix transformer that originally needed an independent magnetic core was integrated into a single magnetic core to reduce the volume of the core. This method effectively reduces the printed circuit board (PCB) layer number of the planar transformer and increases the possibility of the application of the planar transformer in the flyback converter. An optimized design method of the winding structure is given according to that model to further reduce the winding loss of the transformer. Meanwhile, the proposed structure is verified by finite element analysis software. Finally, a multi‐output flyback converter with a frequency of 100 kHz is designed to verify the practical performance of the proposed transformer.

Validation of Noise Barrier Insertion Loss Simulation in Reducing Road Traffic Noise by Site Measurement Data

A noise barrier serves as a method to control noise pollution resulting from road traffic, particularly prevalent in rural areas near heavy traffic routes such as highways. This study focuses on simulating the sound Insertion Loss (IL) of existing noise barriers designed to mitigate road traffic noise around school areas. The primary goal is to assess the precision of the Finite Element Modeling (FEM) program. Utilizing the finite element analysis software, COMSOL, the study models the noise barrier and its surroundings in two-dimensional acoustic radiation problem based on on-site dimensions and parameters. By examining the often-neglected aspect of noise leakage and its impact on noise reduction, the research aims to provide specific guidance for urban planners and architects to optimize noise mitigation in various urban settings. The study reveals a strong agreement between the simulated IL and on-site measurements, with a minimal difference ranging from 0.4 dB to 1.1 dBA on average. Additionally, the research suggests potential improvements to simulation accuracy through adjustments in aperture sizes. The findings demonstrate that finite element simulation can be a valuable tool for designers to assess the effectiveness of noise barriers before construction begins.

Numerical investigation on machining of additively manufactured CFRP composite with different build orientations and layer widths

Additive manufacturing (AM) is now a widely researched manufacturing technology in the past two decades to adopt in industry for its added advantage of customization and adopting complex geometries with comparatively low buy-to-fly ratio. Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite has found applications in different high-performance industries for its greatest benefit of high strength-to-weight ratio. Additive manufacturing of CFRP composite (AM-CFRP) opens up the possibility of enhancing mechanical strength using different printing orientations and enables producing complex shapes maintaining sustainable manufacturing perspective. However, Limitation of AM parts of having surface irregularities and questionable dimensional accuracies. To use AM-CFRP parts in high precision assembly or industrial applications, post processing machining is often required to meet the customers’ specification of geometrical tolerances and acceptable surface finish. In this study, the influence of AM parameters on machinability of AM-CFRP composite has been evaluated using finite element analysis (FEA) based numerical simulation. The slot milling operation was simulated with a tungsten carbide end milling tool and AM-CFRP workpiece with four different printing directions, i.e., 0°-90°, 45°-135°, 0°-90°-45°-135°, two different layer widths, i.e., 50 µm and 100 µm, and two in-fill patterns, i.e., solid and perforated structures. The machinability of the 3D printed CFRP has been analyzed based on cutting forces, stress at first contact and maximum stress generation, and temperature increases at the interface during slot milling of AM-CFRP under different AM parameters. Evolution of failure mechanisms of AM-CFRPs under various machining conditions, such as, delamination, matrix rupture etc., have been discussed and chip and burr formation mechanisms have been analyzed. Finite Element analysis (FEA) package ABAQUS/Explicit was used to model 3D micro slot milling operation of AM-CFRP workpiece with appropriate damage and constitutive models, such as, damage initiation, progression and cohesion in adjacent passes and layers.

Simulation and fabrication of a 20 kHz single-beam transducer

Abstract With the vigorous development of underwater acoustic technology in China, underwater acoustic transducers are constantly moving towards broadband, low-frequency, and high-power directions. How to obtain piezoelectric transducers with lower frequencies is still a research direction that scholars from various countries are striving to study. This article mainly studies and manufactures a 20 kHz single-beam piezoelectric transducer, using the classic Tonpilz transducer structure. Firstly, the Tonpilz transducer is theoretically analyzed using the classical equivalent circuit method. Secondly, the transducer is analyzed using ANSYS finite element analysis software to study the influence of piezoelectric ceramics on the frequency of the transducer, and the size of the piezoelectric ceramics is optimized to determine the size of the piezoelectric ceramic structure of the transducer. The working frequency of the transducer was calculated using software, and it was determined that the working frequency was approximately 20 kHz.

Simulation and performance characteristics of rock with borehole using Visual Finite Element Analysis

Purpose. This study aims to investigate fluid flow and heat transfer within rocks containing boreholes, focusing on the complex mechanisms within hot reservoirs. Non-commercial finite element (FE) software is used to visualize and present the results. Methods. The study involved the use of FE method with Visual Finite Element Analysis (VisualFEA) software to analyze the coupled phenomena of fluid flow and heat transfer in a rock sample. Special attention was given to incorporating material structure and geotechnical analysis in the software, as well as the treatment of cracked elements. In addition, the validation was done by comparing the current numerical solution using VisualFEA with the numerical solution using ANSYS Software. Findings. The study findings highlight the capabilities of VisualFEA software to accurately represent fluid flow, stress, and heat transfer in borehole-containing rocks. The results include insights into flow direction within the borehole, temperature distribution, and the validation of the software performance against expected system behavior. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of VisualFEA in handling complex loading and its ability to visualize multiple flow directions within a 2D model. The results are presented in the form of contours and curves. Originality. This study contributes to the field demonstrating the application of VisualFEA software in analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer in rocks with boreholes. The focus on incorporating material structure, geotechnical analysis, and treatment of cracked elements adds originality to the study, providing a comprehensive understanding of the coupled phenomena in hot reservoirs. Practical implications. The practical significance of this study is in the validation and benchmarking of VisualFEA software for studying fluid flow and heat transfer in geotechnical application. The findings can be utilized by geotechnical engineers and researchers to better understand the behavior of borehole-containing rocks under specific pressure and thermal loading conditions. The insights gained from this study can be used in decision-making processes related to resource mining, reservoir engineering, and geothermal energy use.

Quality Evaluation and Heat and Mass Transfer Mechanism of Microwave Vacuum Drying of Astragalus Roots.

In this research, the objective was to optimize the drying process of Astragalus by investigating the effects of microwave vacuum drying parameters, including temperature (30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 °C) and slice thickness (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm). In addition, utilizing COMSOL 6.0 finite element analysis software, we delved into the distribution of heat and moisture during the drying process. The results revealed that drying temperature played a significantly greater role than slice thickness in determining the drying dynamics. The thermal and mass transfer mechanism indicated that the whole drying process conforms to the microwave radiation mechanism and the basic principle of electromagnetic heating. In the case of low temperatures and thinner slice sizes, the more polysaccharide content was retained; The total phenol content peaked when the slice thickness was 5 mm; The increase of slice thickness was not conducive to the retention of total flavonoids content. The potent antioxidant capacity was detected at a temperature of 40 °C, with slice thickness having a negligible effect on this capacity; Low temperatures were beneficial for the preservation of active ingredients. Compared with the scanning electron microscope, the structure appeared more uniform at a temperature of 50 °C. Based on the analysis of the kinetic characteristics of microwave vacuum drying of Astragalus and the quality achieved under various drying conditions, the results of the study can provide valuable guidance for controlling the quality of microwave vacuum drying of Astragalus under different drying requirements.

The Design and Validation of a High-Precision Angular Vibration Calibration System Based on a Laser Vibrometer.

This paper presents the design and validation of a high-precision angular vibration calibration system based on a laser vibrometer, aimed at meeting the high-precision requirements for measuring small angular vibrations. The system primarily consists of a self-driving angular vibration platform and a laser vibrometer. The platform is isolated from ground interference via an air-floating platform and uses a split-type motor to control the platform, generating specific angular vibrations. Detailed simulations of the platform's modal characteristics and the stability of the spring plates were conducted using the finite element analysis software ANSYS 11. Moreover, fundamental frequency testing and measurement accuracy testing were conducted on the system. Experimental results demonstrate that the system has a fundamental frequency of 2.69 Hz and a maximum measurement error of 0.00172″, confirming the system's effectiveness in dynamic characteristics, stability, and measurement accuracy. Design and Development of Miniature Measuring Instrument for Parachute Cords Dynamic Load for Stepless Parachute Opening.

Spacecraft recovery technology is crucial in the field of aerospace, in which the parachute plays a key role in slowing down the descent speed of the spacecraft and realizing a smooth landing. In order to construct a dynamically adjustable parachute deployment strategy, it is necessary to measure the parachute dynamic load accurately in real-time. However, the existing sensor measurement scheme makes it difficult to meet the measurement requirements due to its large structure and complex wiring. In order to meet the current demand for real-time measurement of parachute cords dynamic load, a miniature measuring instrument is designed. According to the function and technical requirements of the miniature measuring instrument, the hardware modules of the acquisition system are selected and designed, and the integration debugging and performance optimization of the microcontroller module, A/D sampling module, signal acquisition circuit, and power supply module are carried out. The software of the parachute cords tension acquisition system based on the miniature measuring instrument is developed. The Load Cell is modeled by using SolidWorks 2022 and statically analyzed by using Ansys 2022 R1 Workbench finite element analysis software. Then the final structure of the Load Cell and the pasting position of the strain gauge are determined through the results analysis as well as experimental verification. The hardware module of the signal acquisition system for the miniature measuring instrument is then encapsulated. The force value of the miniature measuring instrument is calibrated and tested many times by using the microcomputer-controlled electronic universal testing machine. The experimental results show that the designed miniature measuring instrument has accurate data, strong stability, and good real-time performance, which meets the demand for real-time accurate measurement of miniature measuring instruments, and can provide reliable data for parachute cords parameter validation and stepless unfolding design.
