Archival Management in the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Makassar

The presence of archives in the office has an important role in supporting the smooth work of employees This research aims to find out the governance of archives in the Postgraduate Program of the State University of Makassar. This research is qualitative, therefore to achieve the research objectives, data collection techniques are used, namely observation/observation, interviews and documentation with 3 informants, namely the Head of Administration and archival employees at the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The results of the study show that archival governance in the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Makassar using four indicators, namely, 1) receipt and recording of archives is carried out by classifying documents based on each study program and for recording archives is carried out manually and also classified based on education level, 2) archive storage is carried out by entering into a bundle folder based on each study program After that, it is put into the filing cabinet, 3) Archive maintenance is carried out after four years of graduation or the student judiciary period. The maintenance of archives to remain authentic is by checking or reviewing documents or files that have been saved and then saving the documents in a folder folder, and 4) shrinkage and destruction of archives is carried out by employees after the four-year student judiciary period, archives that have expired will be taken down to the warehouse or given to the cleaning service for weighing. The supporting factor in archive management is the cooperation between employees so that work related to archives can be completed quickly. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor is that there has not been an archive destroyer/destroyer so that the archives that are due to be destroyed are only given to the cleaning service to be weighed. In this study, using several latest indicators that can answer the formulation of research problems ranging from the stage of receiving and recording archives to shrinking and destroying archives in the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Negeri Makassar. Configuration Management of Sets of Links in a Federated Tool Environment

AbstractIn the era of document‐centric systems engineering, large organizations developing complex systems had practical methods of associating drawings, specifications, requirements and other information with each other. Mostly these evolved methods involved part numbers and drawing numbers, although sometimes the methods included mundane techniques such as storing drawings in specific drawers in specific filing cabinets. These manual methods were very labor intensive, did not handle changes gracefully, and were somewhat error prone. As computer software and modeling tools began to displace paper drawings and filing cabinets, a “connect and forget” style of linking evolved. We can see this sort of thinking in the relationships in UML and SysML, but also in other places such as the use of Universally unique identifiers (UUIDs) in the XMI file format underlying UML/SysML, the relationships in DOORS and related requirements tools, as well as the original architecture of OSLC which depended on URIs embedded in design artifacts to establish relationships. While these “click to connect” features provided increased convenience compared to the previous manual numbering approaches, these “hard‐coded” links have introduced a new set of problems. The root of most of the new problems comes in the difficulty of managing this sort of extremely large set of direct links as configuration items in their own right. In a larger system, this sort of link set quickly grows to thousands or even millions of links. Managing change, modularity, variants, subsystem reuse, and so on all become very difficult in the presence of such a large, unplanned, and uncontrolled link set. In this paper, we will review the different approaches to creating and managing such sets of links and provide a concise best practices recommendation for the configuration management of such sets of links.

Implementation of Good Governance E-Filling and Strengthening Soft-Skill Characters for Japanese Kenshushei Institutions at LPK Akihiro Semarang

Purpose ­ This community service aims to help archive management at Akihiro LPK by using the e-filling system, providing character strengthening and soft-skill training to increase trust in sensei and site themselves as a provision to work in Japan. Methods - The settlement method used in this service refers to RnD Borg and Gall by calculating the Three Box Method questionnaire. Result and discussions - The dedication showed an increase in knowledge of 83.4%, skills of 83.3%, and skills of 86.4%, as well as providing instrument strengthening by providing filing cabinets. Provides a complete solution to managing records at LPK Akihiro. Conclusion - Community service is ready to assist partners in improving the archiving system with e-filling and providing improvement and strengthening of soft skills to sensei and seito who will later work in Japan.

Management of Dynamic Archives for Education Personnel in State Madrasah Aliyah

This research aimed at knowing 1) creating dynamic archives in the administrative section, and 2) storing dynamic archives in the administrative section at State Islamic Senior High School 3 Pekanbaru. It was a qualitative research with a descriptive method. The subjects of this research were the head of administration, administrative staff as key informants, and the vice of student affairs and teachers as additional informants. The object of this research was the management of archives in the administration section at State Islamic Senior High School 3 Pekanbaru. Interview, observation, and documentation techniques were used for collecting the data. The data were analyzed by using reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research show that: 1) The creation of dynamic archives in the administration section of MAN 3 Pekanbaru was carried out well, including the process of incoming and outgoing letters. 2) The storage of dynamic archives in the administration section of MAN 3 Pekanbaru was carried out well, however, there were a few obstacles in the archive retrieval process, namely archives or letters that have been disposed of and are located outside the administration room, such as the principal's room, the deputy principal's room for student affairs and curriculum, forgetting to take them back, so there are archives that are not stored in the filing cabinet.

A Web-Based Employee Recruitment Information System or e-Recruitment can be used as a solution in handling the employee recruitment process in a company. With a web-based employee recruitment information system or e-recruitment, companies can choose the right employees for their company themselves. Apart from that, companies can also process applicant data in a database so that applicant data does not accumulate in the filing cabinet. In this research, the author discusses how to design a web-based employee recruitment information system. The system development methodology used is Human Centered Design. The system was built using the PHP programming language, database server with MySQL. The result to be achieved from this research is that the web-based employee recruitment information system is expected to be able to assist the company's HRD department in the employee recruitment process and make it easier for managers to view employee recruitment reports.

The research method used is data collection through observation . Effect of a Gun Safety Video on Children’s Behavior Around Real Guns

Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in the US. It is therefore crucial to identify effective ways to reduce firearm injuries among children. To test the effectiveness of a gun safety video vs a car safety video on decreasing unsafe behaviors around real guns after exposure to a violent movie with vs without guns. Of 245 participants aged 8 to 12 years, 226 were tested (13 did not complete the laboratory portion, 4 had technical problems, and 2 did not respond to follow-up inquiries). Data were collected from February 2 to October 16, 2022. Participants were recruited via Facebook ads, ResearchMatch, and parent or guardian referrals. The study was conducted in 2 parts. Children watched a safety video at home 1 week before coming to the laboratory at The Ohio State University. Pairs of children were randomly assigned to watch a 1-minute gun or car safety video at home. In the laboratory, they were randomly assigned to watch a 20-minute clip from a violent PG-rated movie with or without guns. Next, they played with games and toys for 20 minutes in another room that contained 2 disabled 9-mm handguns hidden in a file cabinet drawer. Sessions were videotaped via a hidden camera. Outcomes were whether children told an adult, touched a handgun, handled it, or pulled the trigger. Control variables were age, gender, race and ethnicity, trait aggressiveness, age-inappropriate media exposure, firearm attitude and interest, presence of firearms at home, and whether children had taken a firearm safety course. Of 226 children (mean [SD] age, 9.99 [1.38] years; 113 [52.3%] male), 216 (95.6%) found a gun and were included in analyses. Those who saw the gun (vs car) safety video were more likely to tell an adult about the gun they found (38 of 112 [33.9%] vs 11 of 104 [10.6%]), were less likely to touch the gun (44 of 112 [39.3%] vs 70 of 104 [67.3%]), held the gun fewer seconds if they did touch it (mean [SD], 42.04 [121.46] vs 98.96 [195.10]), were less likely to pull the trigger at all (10 of 112 [8.9%] vs 31 of 104 [29.8%]), and pulled the trigger fewer times (mean [SD], 4.20 [20.17] vs 7.23 [15.75]). Being male, exposure to age-inappropriate movies, and gun interest were related to unsafe behavior. Prior completion of a firearm safety course, having guns at home, and negative gun attitudes were related to safe behavior. In this trial of children assigned to watch a gun or car safety video, watching a gun safety video reduced children's unsafe behavior around real guns. Children who had previously taken a gun safety course, had guns in the home, and had negative attitudes toward guns were less likely to engage in unsafe behavior around real guns. In recent years, more and more people have been pushed to direct usage of various information systems (IS) developed by governmental, commercial, municipal, and non-governmental organisations. IS were widely used already for a relatively long time – 2 or 3 decades (depending of state), however, people were not pushed to use them directly, they were used by staff members of organisations, so for clients it does not made a difference, do they use an IS or, for example, a paper folder or a file cabinet. Now people are increasingly required to use ISs directly, which makes the process more challenging and potentially dangerous. This article aims to analyse this situation and these processes, trying to classify risks, draw conclusions and provide recommendations.

The article presents the tendency of contemporary poets to use lists and catalogues in their works in an attempt to “restore” figurative language of cumulation, which has an existentially mythological status rather than a conditionally poetic one. Historical poetics define this language as a sequence of externally dissimilar yet semantically identical phenomena stemming from archaic consciousness. Subject of the present research is the worldview specifics of Lev Rubinstein’s conceptual “Poems on Library Index Cards”, particularly, a complex of motives represented by cumulative structures. The research asserts that, in the “file cabinet” poetry, which embodies the concept of sequence with its very form, the only signified of the cumulative chain is the text prioritizing the autometadescriptive principle. Focusing on the preconditions and consequences of poetic initiation, “mechanics” of a creative act and text origins of reality, the author comes to a conclusion that a human’s life functions only through “regular writing” and lasts as long as the “file cabinet” grows. As the events are played out (the majority of works has some kind of discrete though rather defined storyline), the inevitability of death becomes more and more apparent, however, the “return” (perceived as “resurrection” in another’s consciousness) is predetermined by the possibility to reread the text as many times as one can. Thus, the way the non-classical poetry (including Rubinstein’s works) is rooted in mythological semantics not only does not exclude it focusing on the modern problems but also serves as a tool of their artistic objectification.

The path to a career in paediatrics is not always linear. Many of us will arrive at this destination after a series of detours, as we search for true north. One of my own exploratory diversions involved a stint as a registrar in adult medicine at a busy regional hospital. My naive enthusiasm for the role was soon threatened by the realities of workload, competency gaps and supervision in absentia. And so it was, enveloped by self-doubt, that I first encountered Bob B. A gregarious, affable man in his fifties, a butcher by trade, Bob was a temporary resident of the coronary care unit, adjusting to the news that he had suffered a myocardial infarction. Bob had been progressing well. His positivity was uplifting. He seemed the patient least likely to cause trouble in the CCU that day. I wrestled with the challenges presented by Bob's fellow travellers in the unit, secretly wondering how I might rise to them. I was soon drawn out of this anxious fog by a cacophony of alarms, emanating from Bob's direction. The most genial of patients now lay unconscious. The telemetry display revealed the ugly explanation. All hands to the bedside! Ampoules were cracked, a chest compressed, a therapeutic electrical storm delivered. A brief pause to evaluate. As we stared transfixed at the monitor above the bed, breathlessly awaiting the return of a more favourable rhythm, an unexpected voice……our patient! ‘What's happening, Michael?’ Unexpectedly lucid once more, Bob had freed himself of his air viva mask, and posed a not-unreasonable question. It was hard to deny that something had happened. I stood frozen, holding the paddles out in front. A defibrillating deer in the headlights. ‘You tuned out for a bit, Bob, but all is well now’. That was pushing it. A cocktail of cardio-helpful drugs, a pacing wire, all-you-can-breathe oxygen, and a liberal dose of finger-crossing saw Bob through the next few hours. We radioed for air support. Bob departed the scene via helicopter, bound for the tender loving care of the interventional cardiologists at our tertiary hospital. On the way out of CCU, Bob managed to put aside his own anxiety to give us a thumbs up. We had done our best to get him that far. Would he be OK? Some weeks later, our team was in the midst of an on-take day. Pagers were blinking regularly, like fairy lights on a Christmas tree. We were neck deep in admissions already. One of those days. Then……yet another call. Oh no!! We all know this feeling. The medical gods having a laugh at our expense. Another invitation to the Emergency Department, I'll wager. I could not have been more wrong. The message read: ‘Bob B is down at Reception. He wants to thank you for saving his life’. Years later, now a paediatric trainee, I stood once more at the doors to an intensive care unit; a combined adult and paediatric facility at our tertiary cardiac centre. Today's assignment: checking in on the post-op children. Those tiny hearts held together with fine sutures and inotrope infusions. The Voice in My Head posed the question, ‘Do you really think you can get the job done today?’ Mind hazy from lack of sleep, full of trepidation, I stepped into the unit to commence my pre-ward round reviews. Glancing up at the whiteboard, my gaze was drawn to the name at the top of the adult patient list. Bob B! I sidled over. A hefty paper chart sat on a table at the end of the bed. At the very back of the correspondence section, a handwritten referral letter, compiled by myself on that eventful day years earlier. A piece of history connecting us. The most recent entry joined the dots. ‘Post-op: coronary artery bypass graft’. So the surgeons had decided it was time. The subject of the medical notes dozed peacefully. Despite the bandages, wires and tubes, I recognised him instantly. As I stood at the bedside, flashing back to another time, his eyes opened. ‘Hello Bob……remember me?’ I offered. A broad grin appeared on his friendly face. ‘Remember you? I could kiss you!’ * * * * I carry this tale around with me, in my mental filing cabinet. I open the file periodically, whenever in need of a moment of wonderment. Each time Bob and I had crossed paths, I had been transported from doubt and overwhelm to gratitude and joy. Medicine has a habit of creating such stories for us all. Events that you cannot script, which restore faith in what we are doing. Treasure them!

Passion, Visions, Trance: Using Laban Technique to Train Actors in the Performance Non-Ordinary Psychophysical States in German Expressionist Drama

Passion, Visions, Trance:Using Laban Technique to Train Actors in the Performance Non-Ordinary Psychophysical States in German Expressionist Drama Gerald Large (bio) In Washington State, where I teach acting at the community college level, high school juniors and seniors can take community college classes for credit (a program called Running Start). Thus, my acting classes are populated mostly by sixteen- to twenty-year-olds. Occasionally a returning veteran will give the class a try, as do students of a certain age. Rarely do I have a theatre major. This demographic is liberating in that I needn't worry about training hopeful professional actors. I can explore a broad palette of training methodologies. I can play. But "play" in the context of an acting class must be meaningful for the students. Play needs to touch them deeply. Surprisingly, I found that a movement from a century ago and a continent away provides a promising playground for my students: German Expressionism. The explosive, transcendent, and socially forward-looking plays by August Stramm, Georg Kaiser, Oskar Kokoschka, and many others give us characters who frequently move from a quotidian existence to non-ordinary states of mind. Characters in these plays don't just have objectives of a mundane nature. They are absolutely manic in their passionate desire to transform both self and society. They have visions. They sit in trancestates as if suspended in time. When I casually asked my students if they'd be interested in exploring the performance of non-ordinary states of mind—specifically, heightened passion, the act of having a vision, and trance states—the response was a resounding "Yes!" This was followed by the obvious question: "How do we do that?" How indeed? I've never taught "expressionist" acting, and my experience with the plays of this movement are not as a director but as an enthusiastic reader who takes copious notes. Digging around in the back of my filing cabinet, I found a file labeled "GE." There I find pages of notes of Stramm's Sancta Susanna (1911), Ernst Toller's Transfiguration (1919), and other plays of the genre. Then I found what I was hoping I'd kept: notes on the dancers, choreographers, and the schools of dance of the German Expressionist movement, including Mary Wigman, Rudolf Bode, Dorothee Günther, the Bauhaus experiments, Rudolf Laban…. This is when I have my "aha!" moment. I'm neither a dancer nor choreographer, but my lifelong interest in both modernism and modern dance has put me in touch with Laban many times. Rudolf Laban (1879-1958) was both a prolific choreographer and dance theorist, whose writings include a seemingly inexhaustible supply of dance categories, theories, and instructions. I knew Laban technique had what I needed to help student-actors explore the performance of non-ordinary states of mind. In this essay, I relate the lessons I found useful in teaching an introductory acting class on the performance of non-ordinary states of mind as found in German Expressionist plays. Specific techniques I explore are Flow, Effort Elements, Motion Factors, and the Passion, Vision, and Spell/Trance [End Page 29] Drives. Additionally, I use scenes from Reinhard Sorge's The Beggar (1912) as the touchstone from which to explore the performance of heightened passion, experiencing a vision, and the trance state. _______ After two weeks of introductory theatre games and improvisations, I sit with the class and introduce them to German Expressionism. I briefly talk through several plays, screen short clips from silent Expressionist films, and show them paintings from the movement. Then we dive deep into Sorge's play The Beggar (which students have previously read).1 Textual analysis is completed by students divided into small groups. They work through several basic questions on character relationships, then they list scenes where they think characters are in a high state of passion, experiencing a vision or hallucinations, or are in a trance. When the groups have completed their task, we reassemble and go through each question. In general, students are perplexed by many of the play's disconnected scenes, by the sudden appearance of angels, and by the abrupt shifts from prose to verse. I welcome the confusion...

The Filing Cabinet: A Vertical History of Information by Craig Robertson

Reviewed by: The Filing Cabinet: A Vertical History of Information by Craig Robertson Eva Hemmungs Wirtén (bio) The Filing Cabinet: A Vertical History of Information By Craig Robertson. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2021. Pp. 328. "Storage is not neutral." Craig Robertson's red thread in The Filing Cabinet has general applicability but also a very concrete embodiment: this is a book about the filing cabinet. Although the author never uses the term microhistory, his ambition to "see how the cabinet as an object shapes people's interaction with information" (p. x) reminds me of how microhistories zoom in on something—an event or an object—in order to tell a much bigger story, in many cases of something "too insignificant" to notice. Like a filing cabinet—once ubiquitous in offices, today just one among many metaphorical or more concrete "machines" that have become the stuff of media-archeological excavation. As Robertson argues that the filing cabinet both belongs to "the genealogy of information's ascendancy" and "exemplifies the material history of efficiency" (p. 4), he situates The Filing Cabinet in a broad and dynamic scholarly field that considers paperwork practices in the history of information and knowledge. The book is divided into two major parts, the first of which turns to the object itself (the filing cabinet) and the second of which turns to the associated practices of the object (filing in action). The first part consists of three chapters. Chapter 1 considers the concept of verticality of information, looking at how the cabinet was marketed and associated with the skyscraper skylines and famous New York landmarks such as the Woolworth building; the second chapter turns to the cabinet in relation to its capacity for storage integrity; and the third zooms in even deeper to the cabinet's structure, to consider how tabs, indexes, and compressors worked in order to make office work more effective and faster. These three chapters enable the author to approach theoretically the concepts of storage, information, classification, and indexing. The four chapters that make up the second part of the book are quite different and less "object focused," moving from considering particularity, what is referred to as "granular certainty," in chapter 4, to the questions of how and why the filing cabinet may be considered a "machine" in chapter 5; the consequences of the gendered labor of filing in chapter 6; and in the last chapter, moving from the office to the home, showing how office storage translated into "scientific housekeeping." Richly and pedagogically illustrated, the images and advertising posters add to the narrative and analysis. Although The Filing Cabinet is deftly written, highly readable, and contains a wealth of interesting and sometimes eye-opening examples and ideas, my main problem with the book as a monograph is precisely its structure. As the narrative stands, it sometimes feels as if the division of object and practices into two separate sections is counterproductive to the very argument that the author is trying to make, which is that these two are profoundly [End Page 222] integrated. The separation occasionally forces the author to reference what is to come later, and the reader to try and recall where and when something was said in the first part, which would have worked much better integrated with the second part, precisely because the object and practices are so closely related. Some of these problems of unfulfilled integration could have been offset by a stronger introduction and conclusion, but the author does not take the opportunity to bring out the overlaps between the various individual chapters, and the conclusion feels somewhat rushed and unrelated to the previous chapters. So, while I remain somewhat frustrated by the narrative structure of the book, believing that a stronger integration between the object and its practices would have resulted in an even more convincing study, Robertson's book defends its place in the context of studies focused on the office or bureaucratic culture, especially in its close material relationship with paper. Scholars such as Delphine Gardey, Cornelia Visman, JoAnne Yates, and many others have shown just how much we did not know about the office as space, bureaucracy, and the materiality of files...

Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 2021. Pp. 288. Inspired and provoked by Shoshona Zuboff's Age of Surveillance Capitalism, the creators of this volume situate contemporary surveillance techniques and institutional imperatives in a history ranging from Caribbean slave plantations to the now ubiquitous digital trackers innocuously called cookies. Challenging Zuboff's origin story that surveillance capitalism started with Google, editors Josh Lauer and Kenneth Lipartito and the other contributors discuss earlier examples of operational methods, economic imperatives, the collection of information, and efforts to control workers, customers, and public opinion. In a telling rebuttal of Adam Smith's "invisible hand," Lauer and Lipartito state that surveillance provides [End Page 230] the market's "eyes and ears" (p. 5). The diverse technologies, bureaucratic processes, and information collection discussed in the chapters that follow their illuminating introduction raise expectations about scope that cannot be fully met in an introduction, nine interventions into a history that spans three centuries, and a brief afterword by Sarah E. Igo. As the editors admit in their introduction's conclusion, the volume marks a "starting point" and an invitation for additional research rather than providing a comprehensive history of capitalist surveillance in America (p. 26). For those who focus on computational architecture, networked devices, and social media's intrusive collection of personal information, the final three chapters discuss the contemporary iterations of surveillance capitalism. In detailing the "war on drugs" in the workplace in the 1980s and 1990s, James Milloy points to the longer-term consequences of subjecting employees to intrusive drug testing as normative. The article analyzes slang humorous and ironic phraseological units of the late 20th - early 21st century in the linguistic, cognitive and cultural aspects, containing direct or indirect nominations of socially significant realities in their internal form. The purpose of the work is to identify the sources and semantics of these idioms. The material of the study was 262 phraseological units identified in special dictionaries of the late 20th - early 21st century, as well as in the author's personal file cabinet. On the basis of a complex methodology, including modern semantic, functional-stylistic, linguo-cognitive and linguo-culturological methods of analyzing language units, thematic groups of socially significant phenomena reflected in the internal form of idioms were identified; their semantics is analyzed, as well as some features of the picture of the world of slang carriers of the late 20th - early 21st century. It is noted that lexemes and precedent texts related to domestic socio-political, ideological and cultural realities of the Soviet era become the main source of playfully ironic phraseological units. It is emphasized that the basic property of the semantics of phraseological units is their anthropocentricity - with an emphasis on physiology and negative personal and social properties of a person. It is concluded that jokingly ironic slang phraseological units reflect the everyday picture of the world of the "average" Russian city dweller of the late 20th - early 21st century.

DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHIVES MANUALLY IN THE UNIT SIMPAN PINJAM KOPERASI INTI BANDUNG

Unit Simpan Pinjam Koperasi INTI, a subsidiary of PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) is a part of a cooperative that plays an important role in the savings and loan cooperative activities of employees of PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia. The development of the Koperasi INTI with improved services makes the Unit Simpan Pinjam work optimally. Each activity of the Savings and Loans Unit produces information or data that is stored as a company archive, the information will be temporarily collected which will then be recapitulated and will be bound at the end of the year period, the binding is carried out based on the archive year, archive classification, and month. The Unit Simpan Pinjam has 5 (five) archive classifications, namely Commercial Banks, Incoming Banks, Outgoing Banks, Incoming Cash, and Outgoing Cash. The archival principle used in this archival project is a mixed principle, that is, each unit has its own storage area for each unit and at the end of the year period is stored in the cooperative's final storage area in one warehouse that is united with each cooperative unit. After binding the archives, the archives are moved to the warehouse to be stored and arranged based on a chronological storage system for the archive year and an alphabetical storage system for archive classification, namely Commercial Banks, Incoming Banks, Outgoing Banks, Incoming Cash, and Cash Out. After that, the guide's description was affixed to the filing cabinet and the table of contents was attached to the cupboard and warehouse door.

The Merangin District Prosecutor's Office is a law enforcement agency that is required to play a greater role in enforcing the law. In the current file data management system, it is still done manually, that is, every incoming case file is recorded in the register book and archived into the file cabinet. This makes it difficult for the process of searching for file data and compiling case files which will be processed by the prosecutor's office and making reports. Based on the existing problems, a case file management system is needed in order to assist the Merangin District Attorney in overcoming the existing problems. The purpose of this study is to design a prototype case file management system using system modeling tools, namely UML and the diagrams used include use case diagrams, activity diagrams and class diagrams. The results of this study are a prototype case file management system design that can be applied by the Merangin District Attorney to help expedite case management and provide maximum service to the public.
