A structural identification study of Tsing Ma Bridge by MSC/NASTRAN and field vibration measurements, basing on existing instrumentation systems viz the WASHMS (Wind And Structural Health Monitoring System) installed in the bridge, is presented. This paper starts with a brief review of the previous finite element modelling and ambient vibration measurement works dance on Tsing Ma Bridge during the constructian stage. The ambient vibration measurements on Golden Gate Bridge, Humber Bridge and Bosporus Bridge are also briefly reviewed. The objective of this study is to identify the global dynamic characteristics (such as frequencies and mode shapes) of the bridge by three-dimensional finite element modelling and ambient vibration measurements.
