The paper aims to provide exposition on the concept of mental strength, its attributes, values and techniques of development. The field of sports psychology is one that explores how psychological factors affect performance and how participation in sports and exercise affect psychological and physical factors. In this field, research has shown that mental strength is a growing area of interest. Research shows that mental strength has been widely acknowledged as one of the most important characteristics of sports and is often linked with success in sports. Although recognized, it is still a misunderstood term in sport psychology. Mental strength is a collection of traits that enable a person to persevere and overcome any obstacle, adversity of pressure while being able to maintain concentration and motivation when things are not going well, to consistently produce high levels of performance. It is valuable in sport, coaching and to a person as an individual. For the most part, developing mental strength requires consistent practice.
