Financial logistics models based on systematic approach improving management solutions.

Background: Some firms with good growth opportunities and additional funds could have difficulties accessing external finance. One possible way to enhance their financial inclusion could be an exciting approach to planning the money reserve collected on a firm's account. Methods: This article aims to disclose the introduction of financial logistics as the new theoretical field of management science. The authors present, in this paper, the key findings on the development of logistical models of an optimum money reserve calculation taking into account digital transformation and industry 4.0 technologies and optimization methods. Results: The monetary reserve models are analogies of models of storekeeping in supply chains. The specific area of the theoretical research of logistics is shown in this paper, which could be disclosed as the subject of financial logistics as a science. The authors consider the term "Financial Logistics" based on logistics theory and money demand. Conclusions: Authors suggest the methodology of studying the nature of both financial and material flows of resources by comparing the relevant formulas. From the researchers' points of view, financial logistics could be defined as the theory of managing the cash flows based on the logistical models for calculating a corporation's cash reserve. The authors find it interesting to expand the conditions for calculating financial flows since the uncertainty of external market conditions always influences actual commercial activity.

Analysis of Saturated Capacity on the Runway Based on Advisory Circular 150/5060-5 As a Study Material for Airport Management Learning

The demand for air transportation from year to year until 2018 continues to increase. However, in 2019 it decreased as a result of the increase in air ticket fares, as well as in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although demand is experiencing a decline, knowing airport capacity is important in airport planning, which is one of the disciplines studied in airport management. Therefore, this research aims to estimate the saturation capacity of the runway at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin International Airport (SMB) II, using the method developed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and specified in the Advisory Circular 150/5060-5. The results of this study can be used as study material in learning the field of airport management science. Based on the data obtained and processed, the results show that the saturation capacity of the runway per hour for runway 11 directions is 53 for Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and 49 Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Meanwhile, the direction of runway 29 is 50 in VFR conditions and 46 in IFR conditions. So that the average saturation capacity for both runway directions is 51 in VFR conditions and 48 in IFR conditions. This runway capacity calculation method cannot accommodate differences in the flight separation rules applied, so that this capacity will be achieved if Airnav Indonesia, Palembang Branch as the manager of flight navigation services at SMB II Airport applies the same rules as the FAA. The currently applied separation rules are relatively larger than those set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and also the FAA. As an ICAO member country, it is still possible to lower the separation rules set by ICAO to increase runway capacity.The conclusions of the research have been obtained from the analysis of the saturated capacity of the runway based on the advisory circular 150/5060-5 which has been used as a study material for learning in the field of airport management science.

Impact of the Extended Digital Eco-Dynamic on Innovation Performance: An Empirical Study on Small E-Businesses in Indonesia.

This study will answer the factors that influence the innovation performance of small e-businesses in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of innovation theory by enriching knowledge in the field of management science in general, especially entrepreneurship theory, especially those related to innovation performance, IT ambidexterity, dynamic capability, environmental uncertainty, and Resource-Induced Coping Heuristic (RICH). This study proposes novelty by examining the effect of acquiring, developing, and protecting resources as dimensions of RICH on innovation performance in turbulent conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This theoretical aspect forms the basis for further research that will develop into a broader scope related to innovation performance in entrepreneurship in Indonesia. This fundamental research uses a questionnaire as a data collection tool tested for validity and reliability before being tested empirically using structural equation modeling partial least squares. Research shows that among the dimensions of RICH, protecting resources is the most influential on innovation performance, followed by acquiring resources and developing resources. Dynamic capability positively affects innovation performance. Environmental uncertainty positively affects dynamic capability. Environmental uncertainty positively affects innovation performance. IT capability positively affects dynamic capability. IT capability positively affects innovation performance. The development of small e-businesses needs to get significant attention. Small e-businesses need to develop mutually beneficial business partnerships and improve the quality of their human resources.

Impediments of Green Finance Adoption System: Linking Economy and Environment

Environmental deregulation has become a severe concern for public health around the world. Increased pollution and ecological degradation have diverted attention towards adopting green practices, which can be possible if the sustainable green finance system is implemented in its true spirit. But previous studies reported certain factors affecting its implementation process, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to identify and quantify the barriers to adopting a green finance system. First, it identified twenty barriers through an extensive literature review and semi-structured interviews with experts in the fields of financial management, economics, and environmental sciences. Later, eighteen factors were finalized by the consensus of panel experts, which was further used to analyze their interrelationship through Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM). Using MICMAC analysis, these barriers were categorized based on their diving-dependence powers. Finally, the conceptual ISM model is developed that provides a clear picture of the impediments to the green finance adoption system and their flow relationship among the identified barriers at different levels. The findings suggest that global level factors: lack of pressure from international organizations and unavailability of globally acceptable green criteria are critical to the prevalence of other factors that indicate its centrality to effectively implementing the green finance system. The developed model helps in designing, implementing, and promoting eco-friendly projects. It is also recommended that an appropriate framework is required to be developed at global, country, organizational, and individual levels to deal with the barriers of the green finance adoption system. Social security as a panacea to kidnapping in South-West Nigeria: A theoretical review

There are various security challenges facing societies around the world. Kidnapping is one challenge that undermines peace and stability in the globe. Kidnapping leads to death of victims, bodily harm, loss of properties and worsening economic conditions. To tackle kidnapping, social security is one valuable measure put in place. However, social security is bedeviled with challenges like corruption, mismanagement, lack of political will, ethnicity, bad policy and programmes. Therefore, this paper addresses the challenges of social security and kidnapping in South-West, Nigeria. The study intends to fill the gap created by shortage of scholarly materials to explore challenges of social security and kidnapping in South-West Nigeria. The data were obtained secondarily through the content analysis of peer reviewed journals, edited textbooks, and credible online resources. It anchors on social control theory by Travis Hirsch. Findings revealed that corruption, lack of political will, ethnicity, religiosity and other challenges are working against social security drives to combat kidnapping in Nigeria. The paper recommends effective youth empowerment schemes to bring to the shore the potentials among the youths. This paper will be useful by improving knowledge on the social security and kidnapping, improve the extant literature on social security and kidnapping, the policy-makers, employment of labour, organized private sectors and researchers in the field of social and management sciences will find it beneficial.

Socially responsible innovations and sustainable development of retail chains in Poland

Purpose: The main aim of this paper is to identify the specificity of socially responsible innovations in retail against the background of sustainable development, and to identify examples of socially responsible innovations implemented by selected retail chains in Poland. In the Author's opinion, they are crucial for the development of a responsible society, but also for a sustainable economy. Design/methodology/approach: The methodology applied in the article refers to the methodological canon of management sciences, including, among others, conceptual- theoretical and empirical research methodology. On their basis a critical analysis of foreign and Polish literature in the field of management science, theory of development and functioning of the retail trade has been carried out. The analyzed cases of retail chains were considered representative due to their strong market position and large contribution to the development of the FMCG market (the so-called "best business practices") – for this purpose, the qualitative research methodology was applied, including a case study. Findings: The analysis conducted in this paper indicates that large retail chains are creating socially responsible innovations, thus having a significant impact on the spread of socially responsible practices. These activities are mainly based on shaping the environmental awareness of employees and customers, increasing the safety and quality of products, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, effective waste management, rational use of natural resources, reducing staff turnover and improving their working conditions. Originality/value: The article presents how the literature on management science describes and explains the essence, specificity, and types of socially responsible innovations against the background of the sustainable development concept. On this solid factual basis, socially responsible innovations implemented by selected retail chains in Poland were identified. This allowed to verify theoretical assumptions related to the development of socially responsible innovations with the actual state of affairs, reflected in the analyzed practices of retail chains.

Reverse Innovation in Technology-Based Foreign Language Learning: Results of Three Surveys of Secondary and Higher Education Institutions in Cameroon

Conceptualised in the field of management sciences, the theory of Reverse Innovation states that there are processes of technologies’ and knowledge transfer operating from the base of the pyramid (i.e., the least economically and technologically developed countries) to the top where most of the industrialised nations are found. This article presents three field surveys carried out with secondary and higher education institutions in Cameroon. It shows that developing countries are contributing to the enrichment of technology-based foreign language learning through technical, pedagogical, and didactic adaptations carried out daily.

Impact of Knowledge Sharing on Sustainable Performance: Mediating Role of Employee’s Ambidexterity

The prime objective of the current study is to examine the impact of knowledge sharing and employee ambidexterity on the sustainable performance of manufacturing firms operating in the KPK province of Pakistan. In addition to this, the study has examined the mediating role of employees’ ambidexterity in the relationship between knowledge sharing and sustainable performance. The final sample included 240 respondents, which represented a response rate of 68%. The study employed SEM-PLS for data analysis. The results indicate that the employee’s ambidexterity fully mediates between knowledge sharing and sustainable performance. Knowledge sharing appears as a significant determinant of employees’ ambidexterity and sustainable performance. Meanwhile, the employee’s ambidexterity also has a positive and significant relationship with sustainable performance. In the field of Management Sciences and other disciplines, knowledge sharing is considered a significant field of study. Globally, very little research has targeted these variables. This research offers conceptual highlights for developing the influence of knowledge sharing on the sustainable performance of employees particularly in the manufacturing sector.

Towards an Integrated Case Method in Management Education—Developing an Ecosystem-Based Research and Learning Journey for Flipped Classrooms

In the field of management science and business administration, the case method is gaining ground in research and in teaching. Case studies support on the one hand exploratory research and on the other hand problem-based teaching. However, we find that case research and case teaching remain unchained in management study programs and propose to close this gap. We identify an untapped potential of boosting the case method by integrating case-based research and teaching into a discovery and learning journey of applied science. We suggest embedding the “integrated case method” (ICM) in the ecosystem of universities, with the aim of enhancing and intensifying the knowledge transfer between business and the higher educational sector, thereby achieving better learning objectives in higher education. As a result, this approach enables the development of a high level of contextual intelligence and thus helps to avoid the fallacies of teaching based on uniform theoretical content.

Evidence of an Archetypal Management Framework: An Exploratory Examination of Commonality Among Existing Management Frameworks and Resulting Efficacy

The burgeoning management science fields have produced and continue to produce vast quantities of advice, frameworks, and checklists for owners, leaders, and managers. Systems scientists have long proposed that systems, both natural and human-made, significantly drive individual behavior within the system and exhibit repeating structures and patterns known as archetypes. Systems do so because the archetypal patterns are fundamental to the system’s dynamics. Enterprises represent a specific class of socio-technical systems, which have been studied using management and social science disciplines. Evidence is emerging that the proliferation of management science may be overwhelming, that the advice is not sufficiently integrated, and only addresses discrete parts of the enterprise, not the whole enterprise system. One would expect to find evidence of repeating patterns in the general class of socio-technical systems known as enterprises. This article is an exploratory analysis of existing management frameworks and researches the evidence for an archetypal construct that may be beneficial to small, and large, business managers. The author presents evidence of such an archetype, thereby building on general management theory that is helpful in assisting management thought in complex environments. Finally, the author proposes a framework for management based on the findings. Using the common elements of the proposed framework, owners and senior managers were surveyed to determine whether using such an archetype as a system and in a systematic way enhanced enterprise performance. Implications for owners, managers, board members, and academics are discussed.

Dynamics of management between special-purpose governments and privatization of public libraries

PurposeThis research focused on the management dynamics between library districts' discretion and privatization of library management. Previous research has reported conflicting effects of this dynamic. However, few studies have investigated privatization of library management by library districts. Additionally, previous research has accepted the premise that when public libraries change from general-purpose government to library districts, they will not implement privatization prior to forming districts. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether conflicting effects arise in the dynamics between library districts' discretion and privatization in library management.Design/methodology/approachTo address research gaps, an in-depth case analysis was conducted of the Jackson County Library District in Oregon, where library management has been privatized both before and after library district formation. The analysis divided the study period into three phases, which differed by legal basis and operating body. To clarify the characteristics of library management in each phase, changes in finances, staff hiring and library services were analyzed.FindingsIn Phase 1, privatization was implemented in response to the financial difficulties of the public library run by the county government. In Phase 2, the library district was formed with the aim of stabilizing revenue and securing management autonomy. During Phase 3, the library district and operating body were both operated by a private company. Although the financial resources of the library district were stable, it was unable to implement autonomous library management. This demonstrates that privatization cannot facilitate autonomous management, an advantage of library districts.Originality/valueBy investigating the conflicting effects of the dynamics between library district discretion and privatization, this research contributes to greater understanding in the fields of public management and library science.

Mapping the determinants of carbon-related CEO compensation: a multilevel approach

PurposeIn view of the current climate change emergency and the growing importance of the climate-related accountability of companies, this paper aims to advance a comprehensive understanding of the determinants of carbon-related chief executive officer (CEO) compensation.Design/methodology/approachBuilding on the agency-theoretical perspective on executive compensation and existing work in the fields of management, corporate governance, cultural studies, and behavioral science, this paper derives a multilevel framework of the determinants of carbon-related CEO compensation.FindingsThis paper maps the determinants of carbon-related CEO compensation at the societal, organizational, group, and individual levels of analysis. It also provides research propositions on the determinants that can support and challenge the implementation of this instrument of environmental corporate governance.Originality/valueIn the past literature, the determinants of carbon-related CEO compensation have remained largely unexplored. This paper contributes to the academic discussion on environmental corporate governance by showcasing the role of interlinkages among the determinants of carbon-related CEO compensation and the possible countervailing impacts. In view of the complex interdisciplinary nature of climate change impact, this paper encourages businesses practitioners and regulators to intensify their climate change mitigation efforts and delineates the levers at their disposal.

A novel approach for assessing academic journals: Application of integer DEA model for management science and operations research field

• We develop an academic journals evaluation method using integer DEA to conduct journals evaluation in the research field of management science and operations. • We introduce the common expert-based journal ranking indicators such as the ABS Ranking and UT/DALLAS journal list in business or management field. • We introduce an input indicator by assessing whether the journal has an excessively high self-citation rate. • We discuss whether the variable returns to scale (VRS) or constant returns to scale (CRS) model of DEA is used in journal evaluation. • A case study is provided to demonstrate the aforementioned improvements. This paper aims to investigate academic journal evaluation through the integer DEA (Data envelopment analysis) method. By including expert-based and citation-based journal ranking indicators such as the ABS Ranking, UT/DALLAS list, IF (impact factor), H-index and Eigenfactor score, and considering the first two sequencing expert-based journal ranking indicators and H-index are integer data, this study constructed an integer DEA model to evaluate academic journals in the field of management science and operations research. An indicator is also introduced as input to punish mismanagement of journals by judging whether the self-citation rate is too high. Based on the calculation of our model, four main conclusions are reached. First, the integer DEA model could be a useful method to amend the deviation caused by ignoring integer data and integrate indicators based on expert and citations. Second, by introducing expert-based journal ranking indicators, better results can be obtained when identifying the most important journals; and by introducing citation-based journal ranking indicators, the subjective bias caused by experts’ difficulty in familiarizing with all journals can also be avoid to some extent. Third, by introducing the Cost indicator measured by excessive self-citation rate, we identify the cost of mismanagement by journal editorial board and punish them in DEA score. Last but not the least, we proposed that CRS is more suitable in academic journal evaluation than VRS because there is no effect of increasing or decreasing returns to scale in the process of journal publication and citation. In summary, our integer DEA model is feasible and could be used by universities to form suitable journal ranking list.

A Conceptual Analysis of the Role of Knowledge Management in Knowledge Leadership

This study aims to scrutinize and conduct a conceptual evaluation of the relationship between knowledge leadership and knowledge management; it was designed as a theoretical literature review and investigates the hypothesis that knowledge leaders undertake important roles in knowledge management processes. Knowledge-based organizational structures require leaders who manage and ensure the effectiveness of knowledge. Knowledge leaders encourage employees to participate in knowledge management processes, contribute to adopting knowledge management as part of organizational culture, and lead knowledge management activities by choosing proper infrastructure and technology. Schools are knowledge-intensive organizations which possess a large number of information areas that must be managed. The main actors who will manage these areas of knowledge are school principals. Therefore, selecting school principals is a process which requires more attention and diligence. In the process of selecting a school principal, whether it be in a written or verbal interview, teachers who possess broad knowledge of their fields and current legislation, who are eager to better themselves and continue reading extensively, and who are qualified in the fields of management science, psychology, and sociology must be considered as candidates.

Research on Innovation in China and Latin America: Bibliometric Insights in the Field of Business, Management, and Decision Sciences

China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) are now key players in global research production. This study presents a comparative study on research on innovation in management and decision sciences based on data from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) between China and LAC. Findings showed significant differences between regions regarding journals’ citation-dependent measures, and between the number of authors and journal reputation. Public universities have been leading producers. China showed a particular interest in research topics such as commerce and industry, while LAC was strongly interested in sustainable development and biotechnology.

Bibliometric Analysis on Port and Shipping Researches in Scope of Management Science

With the economic growth and prosperity, ports and shipping play an increasingly important role in the national economy and international trade. Numerous studies related to the field of port and shipping were conducted to propose some managerial insights. This paper uses the bibliometric method to analyze the research papers published from 2000 to 2019 on port and shipping in the field of management science. The number of published papers, impact score and cite score are identified as evaluation criteria to analyze the research contributions of researchers, affiliated institutions and countries/regions in the port and shipping field. At the same time, the importance of each keyword can be obtained by the bibliometric method, which may help new researchers grasp research hotspots and trends in related fields.

Research Review in Organizational Justice

The article aims at presenting the current state of knowledge in the field of organizational justice and its importance for the organization. It includes an overview of changing perception of justice as an idea over the centuries and discusses organizational justice as a part of the field of management science. In the article the author describes three main components of organizational justice: distributive justice, procedural justice, and interactive justice. Additionally, selected research in the area of organizational justice and its impact on the organization and its members has been presented. Conclusions from the presented literature review contain possible directions for further research in the field of organizational justice.

NEW TRENDS AND TOPIC CHANGES OF JBEM 2007–2019: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW

The Journal of Business Economics and Management (JBEM) has been very active in the field of economics and management science and brought many influential outputs in the last decades. This paper investigated the current status of publications and citations from JBEM and explored the hot topics and new trends represented by most used keywords extracted from the published articles from 2007 to 2019. The data were analyzed and mapped with respect to the most cited literature, most prolific authors, and publication records categorized by authors, institutions and countries. The analysis revealed that papers published each year by the JBEM is relatively stable and published papers has an expected citation number 7.68 times. The difference in frequency of keywords in different stages give us informative clue for future studies. The emerging topics include “SMEs” “Information” “framework” “perspective”, hence the likely focus of JBEM to consider submission of papers centered on these topics, the comparison of keywords between JBEM and Hot Papers & Highly Cited Papers was made as well. Some new trends, for example, information science combining with management science are new hot topics.
