Review of the Research Progress of Rock Burst

Rock burst is one of geological hazards encountered frequently, rock burst research has important significance for safety production in mine. The paper based on different definitions of rock burst, the produce conditions and manifestation of rock burst are summarized, and classified. The mechanism and prediction of rock burst in the mainstream view the advantage and disadvantages on comparison, a novel thought is given for rock burst mechanism. Suggest t to continue research on the mechanism of rock burst, and multi field coupling method to predict rock burst.

Interfacial Wetting Behavior under Low-Density Ultrasonic Field and Solvent - Assisted Wet Condition

In this paper, the author had adopted the low-density ultrasonic field coupling method, coupled the ultrasonic directional beam to metallic melt, and then coupled energy to C/Al interface by sound propagation, eventually accomplish C/Al interfacial wettability and interfacial reaction by using ultrasonic field coupling method, and synthesize Al-Ti-C master alloys by using the same method. Some experiments showed that in the low-density ultrasonic field and under flux auxiliary wetting, there is no explicit incubation period in the prophase of wetting, in the medium term of wetting, the wetting angle between aluminum melt and carbon will reduce with time extension, however, the wetting spreading radius will increase with the extended holding time, and reach wetting balance state in 20 minutes. In the condition of 1023K, the equilibrium wetting angle is less than 22°,and wetting spreading radius is close to 20mm.

Field Coupling Method for the Direct Synthesis of 2-D Microring Resonator Networks

We present an analytical method for designing coupled microring resonator (CMR) networks of general 2-D coupling topologies. The method is based on the “field coupling in space” formalism of microring resonators, which gives a more rigorous and accurate description of CMRs than formulations based on “energy coupling in time,” especially under strong coupling conditions. Given the discrete-time transfer functions of the optical filter, this method enables the field coupling matrix of the CMR network to be extracted, so that an optimum coupling topology and the field coupling coefficients between the microring resonators can be determined.

Analysis of Coupled Microring Resonators in Sheared Lattices

We present a field coupling method for analyzing coupled microring resonators (CMRs) in sheared 2-D lattices. Shearing has the effect of imparting phase shifts to certain coupling elements in the lattice, and is shown to be a simple way for realizing negative couplings in CMR networks. We mathematically show that the operation of shearing can be described by a similarity transformation on the field coupling matrix of the microring network. The analysis presented can be generalized to account for the position dependence of the coupling junctions of arbitrary 2-D CMR networks.

Coherent coupling of ring cavity surface emitting quantum cascade lasers

We present investigations on coherent coupling of surface emitting quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). For this purpose, the evanescent field coupling method is exploited under incorporation of a ring cavity surface emitting QCL pair with an emission wavelength of ≈8 μm. A series of these pairs with intercavity separations of 1 and 3 μm was fabricated. The coupling gap of 1 μm yields robust phase-locked light source pairs with coherent emission at all injection currents and a corresponding threshold current density of 2.65 kA/cm2 at room-temperature.

Study on Numerical Methods for Acoustic Radiation of Open Structure

For acoustic radiation of open thin-walled structure, it was difficult to analyze directly by analytical method. The problem could be solved by several numerical methods. This paper had studied the basic theory of the numerical methods as FEM (Finite Element Method), BEM (Boundary Element Method) and IFEM (Infinite Element Method), and the numerical methods to solve open structure radiation problem. Under the premise of structure-acoustic coupling, this paper analyzed the theory and flow of the methods on acoustic radiation of open structure, including IBEM (Indirect Boundary Element Method), DBEM (Direct Boundary Element Method) coupling method of interior field and exterior field, FEM and BEM coupling method, FEM and IFEM coupling method. This paper took the open structure as practical example, and applied the several methods to analyze it, and analyzed and compared the several results to get relevant conclusions.

Self-consistent velocity dependent effective interactions.

The theory of self-consistent effective interactions in nuclei is extended for a system with a velocity dependent mean potential. By means of the field coupling method, we present a general prescription to derive effective interactions which are consistent with the mean potential. For a deformed system with the conventional pairing field, the velocity dependent effective interactions are derived as the multipole pairing interactions in doubly stretched coordinates. They are applied to the microscopic analysis of the giant dipole resonances (GDR's) of $^{148,154}\mathrm{Sm}$, the first excited ${2}^{+}$ states of Sn isotopes and the first excited ${3}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ states of Mo isotopes. It is clarified that the interactions play crucial roles in describing the splitting and structure of GDR peaks, in restoring the energy weighted sum rule, and in reducing the values of B(E\ensuremath{\lambda}). \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.

Coupling methods in prospective single-mode fiber integrated optics systems: A progress report

Abstract A review of the research progress on the coupling of fibers to fibers, fibers to thin-film waveguides, and thin-film waveguides to thin-film waveguides is presented here. In general, the direct excitation method is preferred for the coupling of two fibers, with efficiency larger than 90%. The direct excitation method is also preferred for the coupling of two thin-film waveguides and thin-film waveguides to fibers where the two component waveguides have vastly different refractive indices. The coupling efficiency depends on matching the field pattern of component waveguides. The laser source to fiber launching is done mostly by direct excitation. The evanescent field coupling method is preferred for the coupling of two thin-film waveguides that have close refractive index profiles, with efficiency larger than 70%.
