Ferromagnetism in nonstochiometric PrP with a singlet ground state

The stochiometric PrP is a van Vleck paramagnet with a nonmagnetic Λ 1-singlet crystal field ground state. Compounds with defects in the P-sublattice show a spontaneous ferromagnetic moment and a peak in the initial susceptibility at low temperatures. Nonstrochiometric PrP seems to be an induced van Vleck ferromagnetic spin glass with fluctuating crystal field splittings and exchange interactions.
