The spatial distribution of the total energy is used to determine the magnetic behaviour of ferromagnetic single crystals. For a single ferromagnetic domain there exists only one homogeneous magnetization, the direction of which must correspond to a minimum energy direction. The influence of the geometric dimension of a specimen is discussed for a Fe-3.5% Si steel disc with Goss-texture. Magnetization curves are calculated by observating the stable position of the magnetization under application of strong magnetic fields
