ABSTRACTIn this paper, a novel pattern steerable antenna array with a scanning range of 60° and operating at 2.45 GHz is proposed. The antenna array can change the direct current (DC) of the material by introducing ferroelectric material as a substrate. The DC of the ferroelectric material is changed by external direct voltage bias, which realizes the continuous change of the feed phase of units. The antenna array consists of four parts of feed structure, isolation structure, phase shifters, and antenna array elements. They are integrated into the two metal layers on both sides of the floor. Unlike other antennas, the antenna can change the maximum radiation range from −30° to 30° only by controlling the magnitude of the external DC bias voltage. In addition, a novel DC bias circuit is designed, which reduces the design complexity of the antenna and improves the practical value.
